After another popular kennel told me they were booked, I was panicked about what to do with my 1 year old greyhound rescue. Somehow I stumbled across CR Ranch, called and talked to them. They had the dates I needed available and told me to stop by any time to take a look around (I thought that was an awesome sign!). I took my boys with me and all of us were impressed with the play areas both indoors and out. The kennels were super clean and the indoor condos were fabulous. Nothing smelled like a dog or like cleaner either. We made final arrangements and returned with our dog a few weeks later for a 10 day stay. I am a neurotic pet owner, in the sense that our dog is part of our family. Leaving her was not easy for any of us in the family. The staff made me feel wonderful when we dropped her off and our girl was so excited to go out and play, she hardly noticed we were leaving. While away I sent a couple of e-mails to check on our girls progress. I always got responses that were very honest - yes, she is great but misses you, etc. The best part was getting a video texted to me of our girl having a great time playing with another dog. It warmed our hearts to see our girl so happy and to know that they staff cared so much. When we picked our girl up, the staff filled us in on the 10 days she spent with them. Talking with them, they must have spent a lot of time with our girl because they really knew her so well. Not to mention, some of the things they told me about her stay were above and beyond even my expectations. I was quite impressed! Then they brought our girl out for us. She looked great and was happy to see us. We have another vacation scheduled in a few months and feel so thankful that we won't have to worry about our four legged family member when we are gone. read more

This past weekend we boarded our 3 small dogs at the ranch for 4 days. we dropped them off and right away they were led out to the wonderful open play area where they could run and play. The ladies in the office were very nice and the facilities are very very clean. Topping the list of amenities are several acre size play fields that the dogs are led out to play in several times a day. They don't limit their time for play, so they definately get their fill. our dogs stayed in the condos outside the main facilities where we brought some of their toys and pet beds with their persons scent to comfort them while they were away from us upon pickup the dogs were happy and not stressed out. you could tell they got plenty of exercise and attention while we were away. my husband, kids and I all found comfort in that ... we will definately and already have recommended cr ranch and pet o tel to friends. Have taken my dog several times to stay a few days while on vacation... the place attracted me because my dog loves big areas to run and this place is huge ... people are nice , place is priced moderately... only big negative and will prob keep me away is twice my dog came down with either kennel cough or worms... and trust me my dog is a inside dog at home other than daily exercise .... both times cost me $150 vet bills and lots of daily medication, has me scared to go back... read more

I wanted to board my cat because I was going on vacation, I decided to come out here and check it out. My dad said nothing but good things. First this place is meant for dogs. The workers there are very nice but very much dog people they do not understand how a cat works and a cat personality. This one worker took me to where they board the cats and she was laughing that one particular cat how he was mad and kept hissing and he hid in his sleeping bag for 3 days straight. It was heartbreaking to see someone laughing at a scared animal and I would definitely not ever leave my cat with them. I obviously made the decision not to board my cat here and eventually got a cat sitter. Great for dogs but please get people that understand cats. read more

Thorough review from repeat customer... I have taken my dog here twice in the last year to stay for 4 days the first time and 7 days the second time. I will cover both transactions in this review. Initial contact: I called to ask them about their rates and availability. I spoke with Meryem that day and she was very nice and helpful. She was very knowledgeable about dog behavior and had all the right answers for what I was looking for. I ended up calling her back that day and putting down the $50 deposit to hold a spot for our boxer mix. Visit #1, I took my dog early in the morning to drop off and immediately found the staff to be kind of cold and a little unwelcoming. This concerned me at first, but then I quickly realized that their focus and may concern is the animals. After learning of Doug's (owner I believe) background in law enforcement and the fact that they regularly do boarding for K9 police officers, it became clear to me that they weren't there to make me feel fresh and fruity just so I would leave my dog with them. I proceeded to leave my dog with them for the 4 days and was thrilled to return to a very happy, well exercised and well taken care of pooch. Just what I wanted for my baby girl while the family was out of town. Side note: I picked CR Ranch for a few key reasons. 1. The play arena for my boxer mix gives her the ability to run and trust me, she LOVES to run. 2. The place is immaculate! 3. They are out in the country without tons of traffic, people, businesss and such going on right outside the kennel walls!. 4. Their prices were outstanding the first time around! Visit #2- Called a week in advance and scheduled my pooch to stay for 7 nights. The day of leaving for our trip I took the dog and dropped her off with Meryem and Doug. They were themselves, but a little friendlier (maybe they arent morning people), but still all business! Like I said, its not about me, its about the dog, so I can get over this! They let her run in the arena with a german shepherd to welcome her to the ranch and I left without an ounce of sadness knowing she would be having a ton of fun for 7 days straight! We returned on the 8th day and decided to stop by a tad earlier than their open hours just to see if there was a possiblity we could pick her up while we were on that side of town. Meryem immediately was concerned I was there early and was a little anxious, but I assured her it was no big deal and that we would be back during pick-up hours. We returned during pickup hours and were happily greeted by Meryem, Doug and another employee. Everyone was very nice and they had our pooch ready to go. I found that Meryem had made sure our dog had gotten a bath, washed her blanket and had her ready to go. This was wonderful! I quickly realized that her earlier concern was making sure she returned our dog in top shape. It was greatly appreciated. I entered the office to pay the bill for the week with Doug. I knew ahead of time that they had raised their prices, but was a little surprised to see that Doug charged me for 8 days and not 7 nights. Now, I don't know if this is my misunderstanding, but when using kennels in the past, you pay by the night, not the day, much like a hotel for a human. Doug charged me for 8 days, which was actually 7 nights. This actually added another $29 to my rate. Next time, I will be sure to clarify this before making my reservation. However, I didn't squawk, as the supreme care, concern, work and love Doug, Meryem and the other staff have for these animals you cannot put a dollar amount on. Not to mention the ammenities that CR Ranch offers. If paying the 8th day is what is needed to keep them in business so that I can continue bringing my pup here, then so be it! Conclusion: Don't think twice about whether your dog will be safe, happy, exercised, fed or cared for when at CR Ranch! This place hands down is the best place in the area. Also, don't be offended about the way the staff deals with you... this isn't Nordstroms, it is a dog kennel and they are good at what they do. As I follow your page and you see you post pictures daily of dogs out playing I'm asking myself why did I see nothing when my dogs were there 2 weeks ago? I did see plenty of other dogs but nothing from mine even though I paid for them to go out 5 times a day. I'm convinced they were never taken out. The Doberman I got back was not the dog I dropped off to you guys. He was all over the place and full of energy and not himself. I was getting married and was beyond disappointed and what I came to. To top it off he's been to the dog park since he was a puppy. It's his favorite thing to do. On his first trip after spending 3 days with you guys he got in 3 separate fights, one of which was very violent. He's never so much as growled at a dog on any previous trip to the dog park. He's 110 pound Doberman and I was breaking up a fight with him and a full grown German Shepherd. I HIGHLY advise nobody take your pet to this place. I'm assuming only if you're "in" with the owners or people running it does your pet actually get taken care of read more

Very good rapport with our dog, good people to work with. However, the last time we left our dog there he was really matted!!!! Not sure why, as he has stayed there several times and never had a problem. Because of the cost we are taking him to another kennel that was highly recommened. In my opinion, $28.00 a day is just too expensive for a 10 pound dog, and we brought our own food. We paid $240 for a week stay, what they consider a week. read more

The absolute best place to take your pets for boarding. They take such wonderful care of your furry loved ones, provide tons of positive stimulation, and will even bathe them on their last day (so they are all clean when they are ready to go home). My dog has since passed (he was elderly), but he loved to visit (and he hated going places) CR Ranch. The employees at the ranch would even text me photos of my dog having fun while he was there! When they learned my dog had passed they mailed me a card and the employees all included a memory about my dog. That is incredible service. These are wonderful people who truly are stewards to animals. I have no doubt this is the best place in the Valley to take your pet when you need to be out of town. read more

I have had my dogs here several times. They receive the best care. I don't worry about my pets when they stare. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They know your dogs by name when you go into pick them up. There facilities are great, big spacious yards for the dogs to run and they are separated by size. It may seem a little pricey compared to others in Modesto but trust me, it is well worth the price. Your dog even comes home with a report card. read more

Found this place on yelp (thanks everyone) and thought I would give it a try. I ALWAYS have a sitter for my dog and have only boarded him twice prior, this was the longest he was going to be boarded so I wanted to find a place that wasn't crazy expensive but allowed my dog some freedom to play. He is a very small hyper playful Maltese and I spoil him with attention so I wanted him to give some sort of the same care. First I will say my first phone call to ask questions the lady that answered was so sweet and nice that I already know I liked the place. Then she encouraged me to come down the following day check things out for myself and fill out some forms. So I did. I then dropped Dexter off Friday and picked him up Monday, never heard a word (no news is good news). Monday he was so excited and happy, she said he was so great and got along well with everyone. I was more than pleased with the service and I know Dexter had a great time because he hasn't stopped sleeping since! Way to go CR Ranch! This review for CR Ranch is long overdue!! Last summer we boarded our kitty at CR Ranch as I loved the idea of their Kitty Condos. Many other facilities have smaller kennel like cages that they use to board cats. It really unsettled me to think my kitty would be in a really small kennel for a week, but then I found CR Ranch! After calling to inquire, I was greeted by friendly staff that advised us to come and check out the condos. After checking out the condos in advance, and after the staff answered all my questions, I left my deposit. We were even allowed to set up her space and brought our smaller cat tree to place in the condo. During boarding their staff sent me updates/pictures via text message. This was such a sweet gesture, and reassured me that my kitty was being well taken are of. If our kitties need to be boarded again, I am definitely bringing them here! A year later our pet family has grown! We have since taken our puppy to CR Ranch and she loves it! I addressed all my concerns upfront, and their staff was so friendly and understanding. They were more than accommodating to pay close attention to some of those mischievous puppy behaviors. My pets are like my children so if I have a question, I do not hesitate to ask! I have asked the staff everything from hypothetical questions/scenarios to how they manage the temperatures in the summer heat! The staff have never seemed bothered by my questions. Nervous and anxious to board our dog for the first time, their staff yet again updated me with videos so it was so nice to see how much fun she was having. Our dog has stayed here twice now, and I love that she gets a "report card" at the end of her stay. I know our pup gets plenty of play time, and she loves the little pool they have in the play area. Unlike other comments, I have never had any issues regarding their pick up/drop off hours. If at any point I have questions or need clarifications regarding hours, reservations, fees etc I call during their business hours and staff has always been pleasant and friendly. It is very obvious that they care about the animals, and treat them like their own. I highly recommend this facility! read more

Took my dog in for the week of the 13th in February 2012. It was a three day stay and it was wonderful, once again. My dog was happy, safe, and clean. I was very happy with the wonderful care he received and got nothing but positive feedback about his behavior and activity. The peace of mind I have, when I am getting ready to plan a trip now and not have to worry about where I'm going to leave him, is priceless. I have never felt such at ease leaving my dog behind. I will be taking another trip in April 2012 and have already scheduled his stay for another week and I couldn't feel more relieved knowing that my baby will be in good hands. My family and I just recently went to Disneyland and needed a place for our Boston Terrier, Bruski. I looked into several places and CR Ranch seemed the most happiest and had better reviews. I was a bit nervous leaving him cuz I have never been w/out him. When we showed up they knew exactly who he was! They placed him in a HUGE yard while we handled paperwork. The staff were super friendly and even their Weimaraners were nice too!! When I returned to pick him up he was very happy and clean. His bedding was clean too that I had left w/him. Our 2 year old labradoodle did wonderfully here. So well we think he already misses being there! He's done both day care and 12 day boarding. The staff was great about letting him get comfortable at first and then when he did, really letting him enjoy all it has to offer. And that includes cozy condos, expansive play areas, small pools, and staff who you can tell love pets. Like many others, we were nervous first timers. As a repeat customer over the years, once again, CR Ranch took great care of my almost 16 year-old cocker spaniel who needs special care as he has a tumor and needs medication. They made sure he was comfortable and gave him enough room to roam around in the play area inside. The staff has always been courteous and helpful with our dogs. Thy have great facilities and plenty of room for dogs to play and stretch out. We've boarded our dog at CR Ranch twice now, and have ran into some problems each time. This last time, we arrived back in town from a vacation to the ocean around 12:30 or so. And we were told by the Owner that we could not pick up our dog, and had to drive all the way back over there again at 3PM. The owner's name is Doug, and he came off very rude to us, and said something along the lines of "What do you expect me to do? Hire someone to sit here all day in case someone comes to pick up their dog?"... So yea - we were a little taken back by that. There's workers there throughout the day to take care of the dogs, so I don't see why your pick-up window is only 2 hours. If you come too early, you'll just be turned away. If you show up too late, they'll keep your dog until the next day. That is the biggest problem from us, in addition to the owner coming off very rude. Doesn't exactly give me faith putting my dog's well-being in his hands. On the positive side, the office ladies are very nice. The facility is nice, and they get a lot of time to play out there. Price is reasonable as well. Not sure if we'll be back or not. read more

The best and safest place in the world to leave your fur baby. I have a doberman pinscher who is attached at my hip and did not want me to leave him but when I picked him up a week later he didn't want to leave them. Brutus is a tough pup to watch he's always been testy and stubborn. He's also not neutered yet, so I was extremely stressed he would be in time out every day but nope! He had an excellent report card and while I was in Hawaii I received texts, pictures and videos of my kid playing and running with other dogs. I couldn't believe it. Now I fully plan to take him once a week to day care so he can socialize with his new found friends since it obviously made him so happy. read more

We recently went on vacation and needed a place to board our yellow lab Daisy and I can tell you this place is the best of the best. Daisy is apart of our family and my husband and I refuse to just dump her off somewhere. She is like our child and we were afraid of worrying about her like crazy. Well when we came here and saw the set up and met the staff any worries we might have had were out to rest right away. Located in the farm lands of Modesto there is a huge park for your dog to run to their hearts content and plenty of toys to play with. The staff goes out there and plays with them so they will not be alone. The indoor facilities are wonderful and they have something for every dog no matter their size or personality. They even board horses and cats! Our flight got delayed and we did not make the pickup time and we called and asked if we can extend it one more day and they said it would be no problem so they are flexible as well! We just picked up our dog and they presented us with a happy dog and clean doggy with a report card about her progress. She got straight A's! LOL. Their prices are very reasonable for all they provide and I will be returning next time we go on vacation. read more

We live in Reno but had to be in Modesto for a soccer game and we needed to take our hound with us. I contacted CR and told them I needed about 3 hours of pet sitting and they were very accommodating. We dropped our dog, attended our event and picked her back up. This is a very nice, clean facility and Deb and Angie were great! I felt completely comfortable leaving our dog in good hands. And on the plus side our dog had a great time! A little on the pricey side at 31$/day for a 14lb dog. 5% discount for bringing my own food which helped. $50 deposit that is nonrefundable if plans change within the last two days before is a tough policy. We took a four day trip and couldn't take our small terrier mix with us. I had major anxiety even thinking about leaving her with anyone. She's a shelter dog, and she's been through the ringer in her short life. When I called here I was immediately put at ease by Jodie. She made me feel like this would be the perfect place to leave Coco for the short time we would be gone. Spacious fenced lawns to play and run on. Coco had a private room that was also pretty large, so she wouldn't feel closed in. They insist you bring a quality dog food or they provide one for you, which shows they really care about the dogs, in my opinion. When I picked Coco up she wasn't scratching and whining to get at me which shows me she was pretty relaxed in this environment. I would definitely use this facility again or recommend it to anyone that needed to board their dog for a day or any additional length of time. Thanks again! read more

We have been taking our dogs to CR Ranch since they opened and could NEVER be more satisfied. In fact, when it is time to take our 3 to see Doug and the girls, we cannot pull out the dog collars until it's time for them to get in the car. They get so excited when they see the collars we can't control them. They know where they are going and are so happy. We sometimes have had to leave them for over 3 weeks and they are still happy when we pick them up. We are almost retired and our dogs are our family. We would NEVER take them someplace where they weren't loved, taken care up and treated like we would treat them. CR Ranch is the place. Our dogs love them and so do we.
