I had the best experience with 2 community cats in trouble . One had gone to another clinic who thought he just had a UTI . He kept not eating and crying near the food . Escalon Small Animal Clinic removed 9 teeth and cleaned his nasal canal who was infected . Cedric now is back to normal and is eating all day . The other cat was a tumor, they removed it and she also is able to eat again . A very professional team, helpful and knowledgeable . Thank you ! I called this afternoon to request a new patient appointment, four people in front of me so I waited on hold for 10 minutes, which is ok, it was an important call and they were busy. The receptionist communicated that they are not accepting new patients, nor will they give an estimated time frame on when they will accept new patients. I asked if she could provide a timeframe, she said no and if you're going to have an attitude we won't service you. I told her I have a pet with special needs and was looking to establish a vet closer to home, she said - call someone else then and hung up. I LOVE this vet. It's a father and son practice. I took my Boston Terrier in yesterday because she kept scratching her ears and shaking her head. She had 2 foreign bodies that looked like ear ticks, which Dr Frank removed and administered some drops. Everyone, all the staff, had to say hi to my dog. One of the technicians has a BT and the other tech went and got her from the back because she knew she'd want to say hi to her. They treat all their patients with love and respect. I watched as they interacted with the other patients. Everyone is friendly, kind and knowledgeable. They also have a great boarding facility on site, which I have used several times. The services are fine, but there's a young girl at the front desk who picks up the dog and the dog comes home smelling like perfume - which I'm allergic to. I don't think perfume is appropriate for a work environment, since lots of people have allergies to it. Also, it's almost impossible to get through on the phone. read more

First off, I never write bad yelp's, but this is unbelievable! I hope you see you when you call in to get an appointment you're on hold for a half an hour! That should've been my first sign! I had my dog go in for blood test and urine test as she was throwing up and I was certain it was not a food allergy. One month later, they still did not share the results but when I called back to ask what to do and that some thing was still wrong they said test had shown higher liver levels and then I need to get her in for an ultrasound immediately one month later .....???no one would've ever called and told me unless I took the time to call in. I asked to come in and bring both dogs this time to see about a tumor on my older dogs nose, and what I should do about the high-liver levels on my puppy! During this exam, the doctor was very helpful and took a lot of time with me.I decided to give it another shot!!We scheduled a surgery to have my older dog looked at in his nasal cavity, and I asked for a range of how much it would cost. They told me five to $700. when I picked my dog up that day they told me $1300. My other dog had an ultrasound done while I waited in the car. It took about 20 minutes and then they came out and gave me meds. I waited in the car, and when they finished, they told me she had gallbladder sludge and gave me a 90 day supply of pills. The doctor did not talk to me at all. I was asking questions about diet and if she would be fine after the pills. They were very vague and Were unable to answer questions. They told me if I had more questions I had to reschedule a new appointment to find the results?? I am now waiting on the test results of the nasal test for my older dog. It's been over a week. I think they forgotten about me again I have asked four times in the past 24 hours to have them. Send me my records as both dogs are showing signs of distress, and I think my puppy needs to go to UC Davis! They keep saying they will do send the results but,I don't think they understand my dog is suffering. This may be a good vet for a healthy dog, but if you are needing answers quickly, do not go here! read more

A rare gem of a veterinary clinic in Escalon, CA. So thankful I found Dr Frank Hagan and Dr. Andrew Hagan. These guys are the best!. Serious, honest, intelligent. They know how to handle Australian Shepherds and use a special protocol when this breed and other similar breeds maybe sensitive to some medications. They have done some very nice dental work on my lovely dog Emmett (Aussie Lab cross) as well as neutering, dermatological surgery, vaccinations etc. The vet techs are superheroes too. 5 stars all the way!. After having to wait over a week to see the doctor, rescheduling my appointment, and falsely telling me my visit would be free to have me come back in to pay for the visit was a horrible customer experience, and would never come back here again. I would not recommend coming here for your pet. Below is my experience with them. My visit was due to my dog having an ear infection and for my visit, the doctor gave him medication and cleaned out his ears. He mentioned my dog should no longer have an issue within the next 10 days and if he did, I could come back for a visit free of charge. 10 days have past and his ears did not fully heal. When trying to make an appointment the office said the next appointment isn't until another week. We decided to wait another week because the visit would be free of charge, but a day before my appointment date they called to let me know that my appointment was rescheduled to the following day. After waiting 8 days we finally were able to see the doctor. During our appointment, he mentioned that the visit would be free of charge so they gave him more medication and cleaned out his ears again. After our appointment, they handed me a bill which I questioned because the doctor mentioned the visit would be free of charge. They said they could not do that because the owner would not allow it and if I came in within a week they might have been able to make my visit free. The doctor instructed us to wait 10 days to see if ears had fully recovered and they did not. When trying to reschedule as soon as possible the office mentioned the next appointment isn't until another week so there was no way I was able to come in within a week. If I knew they weren't going to treat his second visit for free like they said they would then I would have looked for another vet office to take my dog instead. read more

Been taking my puppy for 2 years and they have been the best vet I've even been too. Although my dog hates the vet, the people there make me feel comfortable and are so nice. I've been in situations where I needed to take my dogs to the vet urgently and they won't see my dogs for weeks out even being a regular client but at small animal clinic on two separate occasions they were able to get me in quickly! I've literally never left a negative review on Yelp because I typically try to be understanding of how hard every field of work can be. However, I was horrified by how rude the staff was at this vet clinic when I called for my cat. I already had an appointment for her at another vet clinic but it was nearly a month away and her symptoms were getting more severe. When explaining the situation on the phone, I mentioned that I lived in Manteca but that no vets in our area could see her soon enough. I was instantly berated by the receptionist for not taking care of my cat and told how people from Manteca think they can just not take care of their animals and then use up services that people need elsewhere. She could have just told me they wouldn't be able to see her, as every other office had done, but instead she was cruel in a situation that really calls for kindness. I ended up waiting 5 hours at an emergency vet to be told my cat had cancer. I understand that many vet clinics are short staffed and overwhelmed, which is why I didn't complain about the 5 hour wait. But there is no excuse to be treating people so poorly when they are coming to you for help, and no excuse to act like you're turning away a hurting animal because you're frustrated with people (I know this was not the reason, but it was clear that she didn't want to help our cat regardless). read more

I have been going there for 20 years. I've read many of the one-star ratings and would like to say that in the past, their service was very good. I believe they may just lost the lady who was there all those years. Last time I was there it appeared that those working there were almost stumbling over each other trying to get the work done. They appeared to be young and untrained in telephone manners and general business etiquette. Hopefully they will become better trained for future customers. They definitely need an Office Administrator type person to get them in line. read more

I hope this gets the attention of Dr. Hagan and his staff. They used to run a wonderful organization called Barn Cats from the office. This service allowed local farmers who ended up with stray cats on their property a place to bring those cats to be spayed/neutered then relocated. After confirming the service was still available we captured the cats but when we brought them to the office and waited patiently (speaking to several front desk staff) we were told they no longer accept them. After they specifically said they did! Then they offered to take them if we paid the spay/neuter fee. ($100+ per cat) We want to do the right thing: give the cats a chance as a productive "mouser" by first getting them fixed so this problem does not persist. Please, if you are no longer part of the solution can you just offer a solution? Farmers do not have the money to get these animals fixed and I understand you too have your expenses but the way you are handling this charity is harming your reputation rather than helping it as it so admirably did before. read more

Today, after many years of my ex husband taking his and many family members pets to this clinic I am mortified. He has a 12 yr old lab that was in kidney failure, so much pain. Has spent hundreds of dollars there and was told they had no time to put him down at 9:00 a.m. Jake was suffering moaning in pain and they gave my mother in law the number to a lady that would come to the house. Of course went straight to voicemail. We ended up taking him to Valley Oak Vet in Riverbank at 2:45 to be put at rest and they were amazing. I am so ashamed of our local vet for allowing our beautiful boy to endure that much agony for 6 hours when it would of cost them 20 minutes read more

Not just someone working a front desk; someone with passion & knowledge about animals. We truly appreciate her. My first mini Aussie has been coming here regularly for 2 years. Puppy package (etc) & now (as a 1 & 1/2 year old) neutered. No issues. My second mini Aussie just started coming here regularly a couple of months ago. He is about 14 weeks old. He unfortunately fractured his hip. As I was in panic after this happened I immediately called Hagens' office & spoke to Diane. I explained to her how my puppy was acting & why I thought his leg/hip was broken. Unfortunately all of the doctors were in surgery but she was so patient with me & gave me numbers to best vet hospitals in the area. She was honest about her opinions of all hospitals based on the way they treat your pet & gave me structural advice about how to care for my injured puppy in the mean time. I ended up just coming to see dr Hagen the following morning with my puppy. He took xrays, etc. Told me my puppy's fracture was nothing that couldn't heal on it's own. Only had to pay for an X-ray. No surgery, no cast. I was so relieved that my puppy had been cared for from start to finish, I was guided in the mean time, & also relived I hadn't been screwed over & told my puppy needed a cast when he didn't.
