One of the best food experiences I've had in a while! The place was clean, has a full bar, and the service was quick and friendly. The food was so good--super fresh and full of flavor! I'm always a little hesitant to eat seafood in a landlocked state, but they absolutely got it right. We had the crab bucket with garlic butter spicy sauce, and it was amazing! The service was decent they put the game on for us which was nice and very accommodating but the food, well it taste like the sauce is made with tomatoes which isn't the taste we were going for the food came out fast it was hot and fresh! Asian-Cajun fusion is how I would describe Crab Shack. Decor includes a lot of Asian vibes and the employees are Asian, but the food is Cajun - gator, crawfish, seafood boil. I would love if they offered more Asian fare like sushi as I am not big on seafood boils. The only Asian items on the menu were the drinks. It was reported to be planned as a reasonably priced restaurant that offers good seafood according to reports that I had read, so I was excited and hopeful I've only been once for lunch - a few days after thier opening so there are possibilities they might improve. However, there are some areas that could be improved upon. - **Waitress**: while our waitress was friendly and provided prompt service it was clear she was put on the floor without knowing the menu or products offered. For instance , if you have an offering of "Gator Bites" at almost 26 dollars - you should be able to tell me if this is actual gator, or just a funny name created for boneless chicken wings (it was listed right beneath other wing offerings). And if you are going to offer a Midwest palate something as tasty and unique as Bánh Phồng Tôm (Crunchy Vietnamese Prawn Crackers) please make sure to be able to tell me what you are giving us as a a free appetizer. - **Menu**: The menu could be improved or at least clarified...Customers need to know what type of food they are getting, whether it is to be fried or boiled are we getting fresh or frozen. It would be helpful if the menu included more detailed descriptions of the dishes and not just pictures. Also if you are bringing in Gator and I ask the kitchen where it comes from, hearing the the answer, "Oh our Vendor provides it to us!" Isn't REALLY the answer I'm looking for. Indeed everything we got for lunch was clearly frozen seafood of the quality I would expect to buy at Costco or SAMS club. Overall, Crab House Seafood Boil & Bar in my first outing felt like an expensive version of a Long John's Silvers restaurant (without the hush puppies mind you) that offers frozen seafood in a bar like atmosphere so if you know that's what you coming for & you are more focused about convenience than you are favor and aren't worried about the daunting and somewhat confusing menu you're fine. It's really hard for me to give this place anything higher than a 2. 1. The atmosphere. It's one of those chic, modern place with weird Asian influences here and there and... tvs? Pick a theme. Please. Tables looked nice, ours was wobbly, and for two relatively bigger people, hard to squeeze into. And it didn't look like you could have a group over four since there were a LOT of two seater tables, and like 6 four seaters 2. Service. We had two waitstaff tonight interchangeably. They had impeccable communication with each other. They talked a little fast. Idk if that's a dialect thing or if they were nervous/excited or what. Let's just say there was a lot of repeating. 3. Food. Holy s--- . Finally a place where you can customize your spicyness level. Too bad they ignore it. I asked for mild. I did not get mild, but I tolerated it for the night because I didn't want to deal with the communication thing again. The people I was with also didn't get their spicyness level met. 4. Prices. They're pretty fair for what you're getting, minus apps. I've not gone to a crab place that has 15 dollar apps. Maybe that's just my experience. I want to like the place. I don't. Had a crab and clam boil. The flavor was so good. It is a bit pricey but that's what you get for good seafood in Iowa. Would definitely recommend. The service was good. The only thing is it is a small restaurant that is a little cramped so not a great spot for intimate dining. Still absolutely worth the visit. Will definitely be back! read more

The restaurant seemed in need of repairs which was odd as I thought this place just opened. The staff is not U.S. born so expect communication issues. The food was good and we were impressed with how tasty the corn was. The crab boil was flavorful. The value seemed on par with other restaurants. The mandatory tip on our family of 6 is the primary reason we will not return. $30 tip to take our order and bring drinks is outrageous. If you are charging that kind of tip, I expect wait staff at my table to wipe my chin. read more

Our first time to eat at Crab House today. It was wonderful! We tried the crab poppers for an appetizer and they were so very good! We had the Queen seafood boil and my husband and I split one order which was just the right amount for us. We chose the house specialty sauce in mild on it. It was perfectly seasoned and not too spicy. The portions were wonderful and cooked to perfection! Only wish the sausage in the boil was a little larger serving. We will definitely be back! We tried the Crab House last night, we got our food to go. We ordered the #1 and the door came tossed in a plastic bag inside if a paper bag. It did come with a handful of napkins and two towelettes. The food was all well over cooked and the corn on the cob was mush, everything was over powered by garlic and there was plenty of that! Half the muscles were empty and the crab and shrimp were like rubber they had boiled beyond the limits. Can't say we are motivated to return. read more
