This place messed up Mac n cheese! Just make it from a box if you need help with the recipe. The tater tots came out cold. The quality of nachos is also pretty crappy. They probably buy the cheapest possible nachos. The cheese sauce on the nachos was grainy, atleast whisk the powder well when making sauce from a box. The ambiance is a no-go. The owner has put zero money back into the business. The tables have paint peeling off, the cushions in the seating area are lumpy with significant age on them. This place is a shit show. I went to lunch with my boyfriend at Daisy's Garage in Cedar Rapids. It was pretty busy inside, but that didn't impact our wait time or the time it took to get our food. We were seated right away and after ordering, our food came out to us pretty quick. My boyfriend ordered a Garden Salad with Balsamic Dressing and I ordered a Chicken and Goat Cheese Salad with Ranch Dressing. Both of us were not disappointed at all! In fact, our food was delicious! Our waitress was very kind, personable, and did wonderful with refilling our beverages as needed. We both agreed that we want to return and try their Steam Pot with crab legs. Stopped at the Marion Daisy's Garage on a spur of the moment decision, and it was the best decision for sure! I had the Classic breakfast, and my Hubby has the Tex-Mex Shipwreck. Both were prepared perfectly. We also noticed anothervtable with cornbread. My husband had to get an order to try. Our compliments to the chef! The service was quick. Another nearby server was SO personable, almost ran into him inside, and he made the kindest comment, plus he sat down with his one table to be on the same level as the child. We sat on the outdoor patio, which was beautiful, separate from the 5 with the garage door up made it still feel like one huge space. A must go to for all!! read more

There seems to be zero leadership here. We've been waiting for 45 minutes for our food and it doesn't look like it is coming anytime soon. They are understaffed and our waitress is also bartending. She has came to see us once to take our order. I would not recommend DG. The owner should focus on building into the staff equally as they have ensuring the place looks cool. Super disappointed. Update: They did not charge us for the food which we respected. The food, however, was cold and my wife's food came out with the paper that is used to separate cheese. I had the pleasure of eating at Daisy's Garage yesterday. I tried the steak breakfast burrito. It was good. My wife tried the shipwreck. I was a bit jealous because she gave me a bite and I thought it was better than the burrito. They have an extensive breakfast menu with many types of omlettes, breakfast sandwiches, shipwrecks, as well as pancakes, French toast, hashbrowns, and made to order eggs. I also peeked at the lunch/dinner menu. It looks excellent. I am definitely going to have to come back to try one of the nacho appetizers and one of the meals! The service was great! Our waitress must've checked on us at least a dozen times to see if we needed refills. My wife also said that the coffee was good. Food was very good... however the staff was very lax about face coverings. Our server had his down half the time. You can also see into the kitchen and many of the staff also had their masks down while handling food. I understand us going to a restaurant is a risk in itself, however was just disappointed seeing this. In regards to food we both loved our meals - amazing seafood!! First thing I have to say is, I have been wanting to try daisys garage for a very long time and I must admit, it's the patio atmosphere that was enticing me! Sadly after attempting to celebrate a birthday at the Edgewood location tonight with friends, I now know I'd rather eat McDonald's, with a warm beer, on a strangers patio... Our party was "large", but with 9 people, we just kissed the line of automatic gratuity. Which, IS GREAT! Over 50% of us have worked most of our lives in the service industry! What appalled me, was the quality of service from our server; -we were asked for our food order to be put in twice before I had received my first bottled beer. Most definitely were not ready as our party had just sat down. NOW, we did order two apps as well, so it is not like she was getting antsy to put some food in for us... ----It was shown on the menu that the apps were served with ranch, our server ask if we wanted ANY, and it showed up as "extra ranch" on MY bill, (also, I'm not the one that ordered apps or paid for them). --received first bottles of beer about 15 mins after ordering them. The second round of bottled beer was (hopefully) put in when our food arrived... along with refills for 8 other dry cups at the table... ALSO, no butter was served with the 3 seafood plates ordered... ..sodas came, waited another 20 mins... eventually, ONE 2oz cup of melted butter arrived! At this point our server asked how we were splitting the check. We asked if the beers were still coming and, like it was our fault, our server rolled her eyes and quickly said "yep", while she stood there and continued to wait for us to tell her how to split the check that no one had asked for yet... I said "I really don't need it if your going to give us our bill". I was not acknowledged, and had a beer sat in front of me in just under a minute... -at this point we have our bills. Again, LOVE TO SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES AND THE SERVERS THEY EMPLOY! Bare minimum, gets you 20% in my book! Just sayin! BUT, I don't think a 20% automatic gratuity has ever made me so upset! 20% after all that, just EXPECTED? We had to organize the entire bill for her so that is was semi correct .... So, we asked her to grab the manager for us as we had not expected that kind of bill for the way we were cared for! The manager came out, sat at the table with us, told us we ate our meal already and there's nothing she could do, and nothing she could do about the gratuity(UNDERSTOOD), but at this point she asked us what we wanted from her like this was a bargaining situation! I want nothing from my food industry people, except accountability and service that is equivalent to the caliber of food you serve... It was ugly and the manager walked away from us with something to say, but luckily no one could understand what she retorted back to us with her back turned. I paid for my extra ranch that no one needed and when my card came back after being ran, the itemized receipt was gone and my bill was higher than it was originally!! I understand this is most likely the credit card fee, but how can you add a fee and then not bring me my itemized? Especially when the original bill was incorrect to begin with!? As the check fiasco is occurring another booth had to stand for 15 mins with their card in hand trying to pay... (this table was comped for their food! crazy, right?!) *I will add, the manager said it was the server's second day... so, who is managing/training her if it is her second day? Who is watching after her tables to see how it is going? Who gave her a whole large section? After asking this, manager Amanda told us, "it is because we are so busy" ...while 50% of tables sat empty. If it is her 2nd day, I am glad she got her 20% don't get me wrong! But, this post had to happen because the managers of the world need to learn--their servers failures are their own. Luckily, Cedar Rapids has lots of patio seating going up for the season and there is no reason for me to return to either location. read more

Daisy's made it on our "to try" list after I saw a photo of their steam pot. We stopped in a time before trying to get dinner, but nothing else on the menu really stood out to us and the steam pot was pricier than we were trying to spend that day. About a week or so ago, we returned with my dad to finally try the dang thing and boy were we disappointed. The interior of this building is nothing like the exterior would have you believe. It's got a divey, basement lounge feel to it. The walls are decorated with license plates and other car/roadside memorabilia. There was peanut debris everywhere, which I guess is a "thing" and I'm not into it. (Why would you want to sit in food filth? This isn't acceptable for any other food and style or not, it should be cleared before the next guests.) The service was okay. Our server was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. There is no website so we relied on Yelp to provide accurate hours, menu, and pricing - bad idea. The menu photos are out of date and again we were faced with spending way more than we anticipated. The food, however, was gross. The guys wanted nachos so we got the pulled pork version. I thought the flavors came up short, but it wasn't bad. Our much anticipated steam pot was actual steamed garbage. The crawfish tasted like it's home in the mud. The potatoes were boring. The crab legs were okay. I think by far the most disgusting aspect was the corn. How do you screw up corn IN IOWA?! Just beyond me. Not only that, I had only a few bites and still had some food-related symptoms the next day. My boyfriend had strong, negative feelings about the Riley's brand before and now I see why. The menu has little variation for the size and the food is overpriced and bad quality. Service was great as we had a party of 11 and our food and drink items we delivered with out too long of a wait. However, I ordered the SHRIMP SCAMPI, since Seafood is a good portion of the menu. The meal just come with some toasted French bread. I was expecting some seared fresh shrimp in a butter sauce with garlic and white wine. Instead I got a bowl of shrimp soup. The shrimp was obviously per cooked and just dropped in the broth!! The shrimp had no flavor. It was not sautéed. Because it was served in a bowl of broth it was difficult to eat as the tails we still on. So I had to fish the shrimp out of the bowl and pull the tails off and the put them back in the broth to scoop them out with some broth and eat them with the bread. The serving size was a good portion for the shrimp but needed more toasted bread. read more

Pretty cool bar with lots of unique things on the wall to look at. Liked the garage concept. Seems like a fun place to hang out. The bar was made with 1000's of penny's and at least one dime, so I got a kick out of that. The food was okay and the menu seemed to have a Southwestern or maybe Cajun theme to it. Lots of things on the menu with "Fireball" in it. I'm assuming that's Fireball Whisky because they had about a dozen bottles chilling in the beer coolers on display. I started with the White Chicken Chili, which I thought was great! A little spice, but not too much (which is perfect for me) and lots of real chicken chunks in the soup. Wishing would have ordered a bowl instead of a cup! I also ordered some onion rings and a toasted cheese sandwich which both where pretty average. I wouldn't recommend the toasted cheese (unless you have a kid along that won't eat anything else)! The bread was dry and crunchy and the cheese was not very flavorful. Thought it was an odd setup behind the bar. 3 huge beer coolers that where each about half full of canned beer. Good hearty American food in a nice location! Lots of enticing options on the menu, so you have plenty to choose from. I asked our waitress for a recommendation, and she pointed me towards the "Kickin' Tenderloin", which did not disappoint! It was just the right amount of spicy and the right amount of savoury. The service was very nice and surprisingly fast for how busy the restaurant was. The atmosphere is also great, and has tons of TVs for watching sports or any televised event! Great restaurant and great food! The only gripe I have with Daisy's is that they have a specialty drink on their menu called the "General Lee" which is a name that pays homage to confederate general Robert E. Lee. Having a drink named after the man who led the fight for slavery feels pretty racially insensitive and offensive to me. Though it could be perceived as a statement about southern pride, I would still love to see that name changed to something a bit more benign. I personally am unlikely to return here because there are other restaurants in CR that about as good and more racially conscious. I can't find it in myself to support a business that has a name like that on the menu,but if that doesn't bother you, then you might want to give Daisy's a shot; the food is good and the staff are nice. read more

This place was fun and had a great atmosphere! We came in front out of town for the weekend and read a review on this restaurant and it looked like a place to grab dinner after driving all day. We were right. They had TV screens everywhere and there was an Iowa Hawkeyes game on and it was fun to watch the locals having a great time cheering on the team. It was not too loud or rowdy. It was just the right amount of fun to end our night. Unfortunately I did not take pictures!! But we started with the Radiator which was a giant square of warm homemade corn bread served with honey and butter. It was devious! Then we ordered a steam pot and split it. We love boils and they are hard to find where they aren't greasy or over seasoned. Theirs was great. We got crab legs, sausage, mussels and shrimp. I have eaten at Daisy's and usually get the bacon chicken wrap with tater tots, which is great! I had the Buffalo chicken salad awhile back and liked it so I thought I would try the Cobb salad. I was not impressed, first of all not much to it. I'm used to many different things on a Cobb salad and usually they are large. This had romaine, I could barely see blue cheese, a sliced egg, a few tomatoes, bacon crumbles and chicken. The chicken was tough and had been over cooked. The size was small and it was over $15, no bread. My friend had the taco salad, looked great and had avocado on it. I asked for avocado on mine and they brought out a few pieces. I had a few bites when I took the picture but this is the size. I don't know if I will try anymore salads except maybe the taco which was larger but other than that small size for price. read more

Got there on Sunday around noon and we were celebrating my son in laws birthday. The waitress warned they were getting "backed up." We got our food after about two hours. The manager gave us a free pretzel and cheese appetizer after about an hour and a half. I had to ask about four times for my shrimp cocktail. So when I got the bill the wrote off the shrimp cocktail and gave us a $25 gift card. From my perspective management clearly doesn't understand what adequate staffing is to support a restaurant of this size. Overall the food was really good once we got it. I hope this problem with staffing gets resolved because I want Daisy's to succeed. read more

Review of breakfast: fyi the menu options are currently Rileys menu due to a recent fire at the regular location. Parking in the rear..and it's tight. Walk in the back door and the bar is straight ahead. Turn right and your in a cozy little dining area. There are tables and booth options. We snagged a booth and had a little wait for drinks. There was only two wait staff working the restaurant. We got our coffee and drinks and put in our orders. We had a bit of time to enjoy all the garage decor. Lots of signs and licenses plates and car memorabilia on the walls. It was a bit of a wait but so worth it. Hubby got the Tex Mex shipwreck. He really lived it but thought it could be a little less hashbrowns cause there was so much going on otherwise. I saw the bacon pancake and had to try it. My main choice was the California omelette. Tomato, mushroom, avocado and goat cheese! I was super exited when she brought it out. Then she said the kitchen apparently just told her they didn't have any fresh avocado...Oh. Bummer. Pouty face. She then saved it by suggesting she could bring some guacamole out. Yea! That works! Goat cheese is not for everyone. Kind of like jalapeno peppers that were in hubbys breakfast. So as he picked them out I snagged them and ate them with my omelette..o.m.g. I think I just discovered a new omelette. It was like eating stuffed jalapenos in my omelette!
