Because we bought in bulk, we were given a discount. They even cleaned the cooler of fish within 15 short minutes! When I returned to pick them up, they had it neatly packed in a flat styrofoam box and topped with bags of ice. SERVICE: You'd expect the staff to be curt and rude but they were the complete opposite. Everyone was friendly, professional and extremely patient (especially with the numerous phone calls we did while trying to decide on how much to buy). OVERALL: Seafood fanatics, rejoice!

I went here, was taken aback by the choice of "open" or "live" oysters, but assured the live ones were closed. The staffer who counted and bagged them didn't pay much attention to them. When I arrived home 20 minutes later and opened the bag the smell was truly overpowering. I immediately picked through and washed them individually. Almost all were in fact slightly open. So I walked in wit my best friend who works for Legal Seafoods to give him a heads up that we have access to fresh available seafood in our neighborhood and we were greeted as soon as we walked on and waited on to make our orders. We ordered one if there 1lb snow crab cluster platters and one 2lb green mussel platter w/ 1lb extra large shrimp and both platters were definitely piled wit broccoli two pieces of corn and corn on the cob and red skin potatoes drenched in the most lusciously made garlic butter. I was so excited bout my purchase I couldn't help but to walk down to the conveniently placed Wine and Spirits store to pair our food wit our favorite bottled wines like Sutter Home White Zinfandel. Finding whole live crabs in the area has been quite the challenge for me this summer. I've tried places like Anastasi and Phil, but their prices are just way too high. I decided to give Dawn a try. I called her and asked how much it was for a dozen of her smallest, and she told me $15, which is pretty darn good, so I went. When I got there, I didn't realize it was a food truck, but it was still easy enough to find as she has an awning and the truck clearly says "crabs" on it. She pulled out a huge basket of shelled beauties and, as I described to her that I like the bodies and not just the legs, she told me that these guys were doing to have good stuff on the inside and that you can tell by the darker color(I never knew!). I brought my dinner home, cooked them up in a special secret crab sauce (I'll never tell!) and as I cracked the first one open, I was oh so happy. They were full and delicious and everything I dreamed they would be. I realize that the proprietor doesn't catch the crabs, and they also don't really control which ones they get, but I can tell you that these were very very good. They were small (I asked for the smallest ones) but when your goal is to sit there for hours eating crabs, the small ones are better for me. I usually go to the Vietnamese grocery store by me for crabs, as they equate to about $1 each, and while they are larger than Dawn's, they are nothing compared to the flavor and insides of hers. Dawn has my business from this point forth. Forget the other places, come here. Keep up the good work!

I have been spreading the gospel of Small World to literally everybody I've met for the past 2…read moreyears. Finding them has really changed my life in so many ways, including finally feeling like we live in Philly now, ya know? The fish they have is SO fresh, and cheaper than WF/Costco. Once you have the salmon from here you will never go back to anything else. We stopped ordering sushi too bc we eat our fill with pounds of tuna poke and sashimi, and always have a Hamachi loin in the freezer for when the craving strikes. They have the staples, and weekly fun stuff and have branched out into quite a lot of non sea food artisan items from other local small businesses. I always look forward to Robert's preview email when I wake up on Tuesday mornings, to see what fun we might have in store for the weekend. Most importantly, they are like neighbors serving neighbors, and so kind to accommodate special requests (like leaving branzino whole for me). They have suburb farmers markets, pick ups in the city, and you can always stop by the northern liberties shop on Thursday afternoons OR ask if they're around on a different day doing prep. I've done all of this, they're very accommodating and easy to order from. I stopped buying fish from anywhere else, and bring coolers full of fish 2 hrs away for my family. Absolutely life-changing!
