We were looking for waterside dining without going to one of the islands near the animal park where we went. We found these and although they had bad ratings we decided to give it a shot. Dockside bars never scare us away cause they usually are good. It isnt the cleanest place and our server seemed pretty annoyed with us when we asked to move to another booth since the trash can was right outside the patio and was smelling, nobody wants to smell garbage while they eat. The sangria was very very very good and only $15 for a pitcher. Great price and great flavors. Some of the food was very good too. Certain people immensely enjoyed their meals such as the fish sliders and the kids grilled cheese. Some items were cold and not very flavorful or memorable. The food prices were a bit outrageous given the facility itself. A woman said when we sat, its a pub so dont get anything that a pub shouldnt be cooking. That turned me away from the salads, and so did the $15 pricetag if you added chicken. I wish I would have gone that route though because the spinach salad as I was leaving looked amazing on someones plate. We probably wont come back if ever in the area, although we were surprised by some meals like the fish which people said were the best fish sandwiches they had ever had. read more

We went there for our first time yesterday. The food was delicious and our server was great. I had the lumped crab over fries and peel and eat shrimp. We sat outside on the patio and looked at the water and boats. The reason it's only four stars is the cleanliness. There were crumbs all over the floor and seats despite it being early. When a patron sees that you worry about the cleanliness of the kitchen where food is being prepared. I would still go back though! read more

Update: WORST service we have ever had. We never received two of our apps and he put them on the bill at the end. Had to ask 3 other servers for water refills. He didnt check on us once after we ordered. The crab legs again were so over done. My burgers were full of fat. Just an awful experience. We will absolutely not be back. Great divey place with a big bar and lots of outside space. Right on the water for lots of people and boat watching. We sat at the bar and we could tell that is was a local watering hole. This was our first experience and we enjoyed it. We went for lunch so it wasn't busy and were able to sit next to the water. The food was good, I had the shrimp BLT and my wife had the perch sandwich and both were cooked great. The food was a little over priced but we still enjoyed it. This place is amazing! The bar staff are so friendly, we laughed our way through cold drinks & good food. You can sit at the bar or they have tables out in a more loungy type area, as well as seating in an upper deck area in the sun. The view is awesome, overlooking the boats at the marina & of the lake. I wanted to wait before I wrote my review so it would not skew my thoughts. Been here many times and loved it, but the past two have seen a trend and my friends have said the same. You will read from my other reviews that I am pretty laid back and give fair commentary. Not this time. First, the food was great. Everything had great taste and it all appeared to be fresh. No complaint there. The bad was the menu changed and the burgers are all sliders. For someone who would have a larger appetite you would not be satisfied without having to order a second slider entrée. One member of our party fell into this category and I understood why he was picking off of other's plates. I ended up with the Ruben and was very happy. So where is the big rub? The service has gotten brutal. It began on a slow Sunday evening when I walked in before the rest of the party and said we needed to sit 8. "Wanna wait for the rest to show up?" I told her no and that they would be right behind me. Then she gives me the look over the shoulder and says, "I don't see anyone else." I assured her they would be in shortly, but she said "No. We're going to wait till they are all here." For real? She proceeded to seat two other couples as we trickled in. Now this is factual: The staff continued to walk past us for 8 minutes to go back and forth to the kitchen (never bringing out food) and trying to close the blinds for the table right in front of us. 1 working, 2-3 standing and watching, including the hostess. Should have walked. Finally seated upstairs, outside, which was great. Waitress comes over with something the opposite of enthusiasm and says she would be back. Don't know where she went. Came back, pulled out a pen and said "Ready?" as if she was bothered or needed an oxygen canister. I suggested drink orders first and it was taken with reluctance. Ordering food was special. Never had less help with questions about the menu and then I thought maybe she didn't know anything about the food. Nope, she knew all about it, but just didn't feel like being helpful. Appetizers and salads show up!! Oh, no silverware. Where are any servers? Nowhere. I go to the servers station to get it myself. None there, so we sat looking at salads until I asked a bus boy to tell someone we needed silverware. Waiting ...... Here's our waitress! Walk by, drop 6 sets of silverware and keep going. Short two so just forget it. One of the small girls has a little spill. I go to the server station and let one of the girls know. God bless, she handed me 4 cocktail napkins. Food comes and they stand at the end of the table. "Who had the perch?" Wife raises her hand so naturally she puts the plate in front of me and waits. I realize they aren't going to serve so I say "Katie, hand this to Dan to give to mom." Who has the ____________? This happens for all meals. Refill drinks? Try to catch someone. When they do bring refills, pile all of the glasses in front of me and push my food out of the way to make room and don't take the empties. Guess the only time they reached past 3 feet of the end of the table. To collect the check, which I put out of her reach. Finally, we are about to leave and we stop one of the staff and say, "Can you take a picture with the lake in the background for us?" His answer, "No, I have tables." Then he thought about it, gave a sigh and agreed to a nice, blurry, "I don't give a darn", it's all about me type of picture. I always tip 20% because I know it affects everyone and one person should not ruin it for the rest. Actually went with 15% this time and felt bad for doing it. Should have been 5%. And if you think I am the only one that won't go back there, you are mistaken. 4 other families in my community had the same experience and they will not go back. I am sure the word will spread until they get the message. read more

I was visiting Port Clinton for a nice trip with my friends... When we stepped into Crabby Joe's, we had to walk to the whole other side of the bar. It took the Hostess proximately 5 minutes to even speak to us, while before that, she was walking around past us, ignoring us, until one of my friends spoke up. They seated us and took our drink orders, we also proceeded to order the food then and there. We ordered 2 Steamers, a Chicken Quesadilla, and Mussels. The food took 1 HOUR to come out. meanwhile, all our drinks were completely empty. Our waitress even though she was extremely nice, she NEVER came back to the table to refill our drinks. She also, kept walking around to serve other people and refill their drinks. We FINALLY received our good to find nothing but a bucket of water with not even half of butter in the Steamer. The Mussel bucket was filled with half broken shells that I was crunching on. Mind you, CRUNCHING ON MUSSEL SHELLS. That is not normal. My friends and I kept eating because we felt bad to complain. I finally spoke to our waitress about my Mussels and they gave me it for free and proceeded to give me a 20% discount on anything else I wanted to order I proceeded to order the shrimp trio and that was decent mind you they were flies, crawling on top of our food and around our faces while trying to digging into our food, my friend that got the steamer, literally found a half alive mussel inside of her steamer bucket. Not only that but the butter tasted bitter and the potatoes were half rotten, and some of them were even undercooked. The butter was complete water. We came home, and all of us immediately got sick. I do not recommend this place to anybody that wants seafood or even just to stay alive. read more

My fiancé and I just finished a late dinner at Crabby Joe's and we had a great experience! Overall we really enjoyed the food, service, and atmosphere. We started with the peel and eat shrimp. For $10 we got a decent amount a shrimp, enough for both of us to eat without fighting over the last one! For dinner I went with the perch dinner with a side of onion rings and cole slaw. He went for the bucket of king crab legs which comes with corn on the cob and red potatoes. My perch was PERFECT. The breading was crunchy and seasoned well and the fish was light and tender. The sides were good, I only got 4 onion rings but they were huge so I didn't mind. I don't care for cole slaw, so didn't eat any personally but Ryan helped himself and said it was great. The crab legs were tasty, I feel like you can never go wrong with crab legs served in a bucket. Everything was reasonably priced and our server was quick and friendly. The crowd was very laid back and I would return. We visited on a rainy,windy day and I would love to experience the large outdoor patio in better weather. read more

This might be a nice place to come for a drink and watch the boats. The specialty drink menu looked interesting and the sunset view was beautiful. Unfortunately we weren't drinking, we were eating. Ceviche was good. VERY SLOW service, hostess came back long after we were seated to take drink orders because server was MIA, the appetizer was served with the meal and we had to ask for silverware. No lemon in my second water as I had asked and again, for most of meal server was inattentive. As for the meal, I got a chopped Italian salad. It was served on limp, shredded lettuce the had the texture of lettuce in a bag long past its expiration. Manager thought it was over dressed. It was more like waterlogged. The Hubs had crab cakes and they were good. Thankfully served with green beans because that's what I ended up eating. He was going to give me his rice but it had the consistency of kindergarten paste. Manager took the salad I didn't eat off the bill but we were in no other way compensated for a very poor meal and bad service. Oh, and the high bars are very uncomfortable, bus station waiting areas more comfortable than these seats and by the time dinner was over the bugs had started swarming us through the open slats in the screens. Extremely hot & humid outside and we were placed in screened room without asking so if you are looking to get out of the heat, be sure to ask for a table in the AC. We heard the bartender multiple times telling customers that Dewine says it's okay to drink and drive but to not stand and drink. Hardly anyone was wearing a mask and tables were not spread out at all. Once we arrived at our table, the menus and table felt very dirty. Had lunch on a day of high winds and rain. They were short staffed because of power outage and closed roads made it difficult for employees to get to work. We were advised up front of the issue. Instead of being called Crabby Joe's, it should be called Crappy Joe's. The food (when we finally got it) was just "ok" - nothing to write home about. The service was the problem. Your patrons don't care if it was "busy for a Monday night" or that you are "grossly unstaffed". I care that my order was forgotten and was never put into the system, and when it finally was, the absence of a food runner was to blame. I will say, the kitchen had an extremely fast turn around on our rushed order and everything was hot when it arrived to the table. Needless to say we won't be returning. read more

I agree with the other posters, this place has really gone downhill over the last couple of years. Service here was a little better than Crow's Nest, but the food was not that great. Menu was small, and many of the items seemed overpriced. I think the perch dinner was $22, which is quite a bit higher than nicer restaurants in the area. Patty Melt was greasy, and came out with a small portion of onion rings. Salads here are shrinking like at Crow's Nest. Caesar Salad was not big enough for a meal, even at lunch. This is a great location with a view of the water, but the food is gradually getting worse and service can be slow at times. read more

If you sit at the bar you can get chips and salsa but the salsa tastes like plain ketchup. This restaurant is a total let down as it has outdoor space,is on the water and could be a great place.
