I wish I could give a recommendation on the food, but after sitting and waiting over 30+ minutes and not even get greeted or place a drink order, we left. On the way out when asking for a manager, and being told they were out, asked the two servers that were working in our patio area why they didn't help us, one said because "no one told them to", and the other server said "I didn't see you". No apologies, just blank stares. It was mid-afternoon, and only a handful of parties at the time we arrived, so definitely not too busy. Maybe it's the humidity on the varnished tables but whatever it is it is off putting. Ordered the chopped salad. I wish I had taken a pic (my friends may have one). It came out on this little appetizer plate. It was shredded iceberg lettuce doused in cheap Italian dressing. I mean swimming in it. One tiny tomato piece (not a slice), 2 pieces of a cucumber with 2 pieces of a dill pickle and one slice of a pepperoni. Someone in the kitchen obviously couldn't be bothered today. Everyone at my table was shocked. Those that got the Ruben were feeling sick before we even got home. No one had any food worth going back for. Visited Crabby Joe's with family and we had a group of eight. We were seated within 15 minutes and while we waited, we walked around outside. The scenery here is nice with boats and Lake Erie. Upon being seated, our drink requests were taken. I went with a pitcher of sangria, which I shared with my cousin. It was pretty tasty. Looking at the menu, I realized they had fresh perch and walleye. Those are pretty common in these parts. Since the fish was fresh from Lake Erie, I went ahead and requested the perch dinner. My cousin requested the perch/walleye combo. We also requested some appetizers. Twenty minutes later, our food arrived. The crab fries were delicious. I'd recommend those to anyone and will order again next time we visit. The mozzarella sticks were just okay, but the wasabi bites were yummy. My perch was fresh, but just okay in flavor. My cousin gave me a piece of his walleye and it was so much larger, flakier, and tastier than the perch. Next time, I'll just order the walleye dinner. Our waitress was funny and friendly. This is such a cute little lakeside spot. It has a very Florida feel. They have a great menu with a tons of seafood to choose from. Anywhere I can get raw oysters on the half shell I'm all for! Jade is the BEST server. Tons of energy, attentive, and welcoming. We get excellent service everytime we go, but we are always happy to have her. The drink menu is fantastic. My wife and I stopped in on a Tuesday early evening approximately 5 o'clock for dinner. Believe there's only four additional people at the bar and a table of six on the patio. Pretty laid-back atmosphere overall. Wouldn't be in a hurry. The bloody Mary I had, or as they call it a bloody pirate, was actually really good. My wife chose a beer as her beverage. For our meal, I went for the scallops and my wife their chicken quesadilla. I thought the scallops were very small with a very small portion as well. My wife's chicken quesadilla was not the best. With the Crow's Nest next-door, I doubt we'll be coming back during our visit at East Harbor State Park. read more

I must say that we have had better elsewhere, but the portions were plentiful. It became cold quite quickly since we had a fan over head and I don't care for my fish cold so didn't finish it. Normally the food is not up to par with this type of atmosphere, but i have to say I got the crab pot with King crab and Snow crab. Bar and grill along Lake Erie. Crabby Joe's is popular with drunken boaters. It's a pretty good place to get fucked up. Fun if you're coming here on a boat. The marina is right there. It has some real cheap good drinks. No question drinks are better than food. The food is just an afterthought and utterly forgettable. Good news is that the drinks are awesome. They have all kinds of beer from big corporations to microbreweries. Mixed drinks are always good. They can be mixed at the bar or you can get one of their frozen specialties. I like the frozen margaritas. It's about $7 for one. The last time here I got the chips and salsa. It was $6 for a massive helping. This was nothing special but it was something to just munch on. If you like seafood you may like this better. It has some fresh catches. They're right next to the lake so how could it not be fresh though. read more

As I no longer provide negative feedback about food publicly, I'll just say that this author could provide volumes of insight as to better improve each of the six dishes that ended up on the table, of which 6 were tasted and 2 were very partially consumed prior to an abrupt departure. (The server comped 2 of the 6 dishes which was a nice touch. No management visited the table.) The neighboring establishment was on a 30 minute wait at 6:00 p.m on a Monday evening and aside from the party of 16 ladies, there were only approximately 10 other guests in the establishment. The ambiance is great -- a great waterfront location. The food was merely-OK -- and the fries were blatantly out of a frozen bag. The drinks were pretty good. The reason for the two-stars was the terrible service. Even though they had a bunch of waiters/waitresses on staff and working, the service was so slow! We probably would have ordered more drinks if the waitress had ever come around -- but she was MIA for the majority of the time. My fiancé and I shared the Steamer Crab Boil as well as the Garlic Crab fries. The boil was very good, the crab, mussels, and shrimp were fantastic, as well as the corn and potatoes. Ate here with me fiancé and two girls for dinner. Service was horrible and terrible slow. The wait for food was long. However, I did have the fish tacos and the sauce they give you was delicious on it. It was a sweet yellow tangy sauce. It comes with fries and coleslaw as a side. The coleslaw wasn't bad but nothing great. My fiancé got the short ribs and fries. He said the ribs were almost crispy and not fall off the bone good. His words not mine. The girls both got crab legs which come in a metal cooking pot with 1 piece of corn cut up in 2 pieces and cut up potatoes. They both really liked the crab legs and corn. We ate here for convenience since staying in Marblehead on vacation so if you don't want to travel to Sandusky or the other bigger towns we would probably eat here again just for that reason. read more

Stopped in at Crabby Joe's for lunch to kick off a long weekend on Lake Erie and was not disappointed! We were seated promptly at a table of our choice outside overlooking the marina. Our server was attentive and kind, and we even had the opportunity to visit with the owner briefly as we finished our meal of walleye, perch, and snow crab (a $10 add-on to the original entree). The food came out in a reasonable time frame, and was standard fare for fried seafood (& the fries were excellent). The perch had a nice flavor, but our walleye was bland, and the crab legs were a little over-cooked which made cracking into them a bit difficult. I will say again, though, that the fries were great. I give Crabby Joe's a 4 overall because, even though the ambience and service was good, our meal was not outstanding for its price range. We arrived and it was pretty busy, the hostess who appeared annoyed upon my arrival with our party of six told us an hour wait. No problem, we'll put our name in and wait at the bar. She said we could also order food at the bar. Okay, we'll do that but my party of some older folks would be more comfortable at a table once one is ready. I got the text saying our table was ready much sooner than expected and when I went to let her know we were ready, she told me, "There's no point now, you should just sit at the bar." The sign in the bar instructed me not to be Karen so I did my best to explain my party of older folks would be more comfortable at a table, and that was the "point" if that would be okay. After some tense discussions, where I explained we'd tip the bartender if the tab needed to be transferred, she relented and let us sit at a table in the bar area that had luckily opened. No need to transfer the tab, and apparently, this wouldn't confuse the kitchen too badly, phew. So, the bartenders were very nice and accommodating, all our food was good. The walleye bites, the patty melts, the fish tacos. All good. So, now here the fun started again as one of our party (70+) had been asked when he ordered how many tabs, and he mistakenly said one. It was three, and the poor bartenders worked all that out for us without some challenges, and we then proceeded to wait an hour before we could flag someone down to return our credit cards. Admittedly we weren't the easiest group, but I don't think I will come back if it is busy again. Someone joked the reason it is called Crabby's is because of the hostess's demeanor and not the menu.
