You can't walk into hygienic without feeling the sense of Aloha. From ethnic foods like pasteles to modern treats like Icees there's something here for everybody. The staff treats everyone with Aloha. Personally, I get Kava here every couple of weeks. Their Kava is the second best I've ever had, and the Fiji variety of Kava is particularly good. I was pleased to learn that they carried Kava, so I don't have to drive to Kalihi to get it, which is a relief because I'm an old fut who does not like driving in to Honolulu. They are just a 5 to 10 minute drive from Haiku Woods, so it's my preferred place to get Kava. If you live here their goods all have local appeal. If you're just visiting Honolulu, Hygienic store is a great place to get the feel of local culture and maybe discover a couple of new favorite foods.

Their famous for their spam musubi and can't go wrong it's quick and easy and you can eat it while you drive . I remember coming to this small wooden convenience store when I was in my teens . Also for locals heading around the island it's normally a good quick stop to buy ice and load up on your favorite adult beverage. The Hygienic store still looks the same they sell ice, liquor, cold drinks , chips , candy , spam musubi, some household product also canned goods . Support local and be safe

It is preserved and dried fruits that are flavored with salt, sugar and licorice. It's a mouthwatering island favorite. The store is very small, so I recommend checking the list of offerings outside of the store. A list with photos are on the window in front of the store. Write the name and number of the item and when you go into the store it will help speed your purchase.The store can get quite crowded when people are unsure of what they want, so knowing in advance helps the flow of customers. My favorites are Spicy Mangos and Li Hing Cherries.

They have a large selection of gummies, li hing mui candies, hurricane popcorn, nori crackers, and other types of sweets. They also have dried seafood, arare, fortune cookies, puff rice cakes, and other snacks. They even have a selection of plushes and other smalls toys. They also have ice cream, bubble drink, smoothies, icee, halo-halo, and shave ice. I recommend trying their halo-halo with the ube ice cream or the rainbow sherbert. The serving size is decent and prices are reasonable. Service has always been friendly. We always look forward to stopping here anytime when we're in Oahu.

Dave's ice cream is nostalgic for me since it's been around and a place I went since I was child. It was just how I remembered it to be and still had that same vibe. Good 'ol reliable!
