It has been a few years since I last visited a cracker barrel restaurant, but was excited to partake after all of the advertising chaos. Service was slow and a little disappointing, it seemed to be a challenge to keep the coffee cup filled, but overall the coffee was good. I just wish I could've enjoyed more of it. The food was average, my eggs over, medium or more like eggs over hard, but the hash brown casserole was as good as it has ever been and really hit the spot. The biscuits were a little hard for my liking. The restaurant was jampacked, but had a nice vibe to it Overall, pretty much what I remembered, average food, average service, average price... Nothing outstanding nothing horrible... Just overall average fare. I will return next time I'm in the area and give them another shot read more

First time back to Cracker Barrel in ? 5yrs. Definitely not the original food. Food tasted & appeared to be dipped out of cans etc. breads were a joke. Food portions at least half what they used to be. Nothing tasted or looked fresh prepared. Service was ok. No drink refills. We will likely never be going back to another Cracker Barrel restaurant. Seated right away and server was a nice young guy with a dragonfly tattoo, very attentive. Ordered the seasonal turkey dish, the sides were nice and hot but the star of the dish was sub par. Was given gift cards so thought we'd give them another try. Food was ok but not amazing. It makes me sad because they used to be a go to for us for so many years. Their quality has dropped so much. Portion size, seasoning, style. It's all changed. I got the Friday fish special which was 4 pieces of cod and 2 sides. I chose a side salad (pretty sure it's no longer homemade ranch) and dumplings. The fish pieces were so tiny and thin I just stared for a bit. Very crunchy fry, but not much to the fish portion, and for $16, I expected better. My sister chose the shepherds pie pot roast and it was fantastic! If we go back for dinner, that will be a go for me. Seasoned well, good sized portion, meat was tender. Now on to the location itself. They haven't changed the decor much and I am 100%ok with that. Love that about Cracker Barrel. It's the way it should be, but I was also sat next to the lattice wall and the amount of dust next to my face was a bit disturbing. Tried to get a picture but it was hard to really show it properly . The waitress was really good, at first. After she took our order she just kind of forgot about us. I never got a refill on my tea and was sucking ice by the end of my meal. It was obvious it was empty the several times she walked by but she never offered to refill it. Yes, I should have flagged her down, but by this point, I just wanted to go. Overall, some good points some bad. Definitely room for improving. Oh and when I went to pay I put what I want for a tip (15%- due to service issue) and it asked not 1 or 2 times if I was sure that was all I wanted to leave but 4 times. What happened to Cracker Barrel? We usually come here as a last resort. What a change. Everything was good. The chicken tenders were tender and perfectly cooked. The pot roast ( used to be dry and unappetizing) was also tender and flavorful. The biscuits- light and fluffy. Hope it lasts. Our server - Kamryn was very nice. We arrived at normal breakfast hours a there were 4 customers in the restauran. In spite of that, we waited almost 5 minutes (no host at desk) then I finally asked someone working the store if someone would seat us. Menu is greatly reduced. Whenever we're in the South, we like to go to Cracker Barrel for the country home-cooked style food. Because we went near closing time, there wasn't enough chicken & dumplings for us to order. I had the lemon pepper grilled rainbow trout, which had an adequate amount of lemon zing but was a bit dry for my liking. The strawberry lemonade was a hit across the board for our table. The wait staff were nice as they scrambled to serve us and close out the other tables. The lesson of the day was to go at least an hour before closing. read more

Poor service Mediocre food quality. We walked in prior to the dinner rush and had to wait for the hostess. We even asked someone several times for help but no one seemed to care. Once we weee seated, our waitress was quick to service us, at first. We received our drinks and food rather quick so we're were hoping the first impression would get better. Not so much. We both had their fried chicken dinners and must say that it was not only burnt tasting but greasy as well. KFC would have been a gourmet meal at this point. Outstanding service from incredibly kind waiters and waitresses. Delicious food, for me it was pancakes and bacon. Some of the best I've ever had. Loved the old fashion country style vibe on the inside of the building, with old trinkets and decorations hung up everywhere. Has an awesome variety within the gift shop. Service and server was great. She told us how to get the free app, and was very sweet. But the food came out undercooked... we also had to wait quite some time for the food to come out. Best thing we ate was the hasbrown app. Steak was ordered was medium rare, but it came out quite rare even on the outside of the steak. I have loved Cracker Barrel for years, but today was a very pleasant surprise. I ordered their new breakfast entree the New York steak and eggs. The steak was tender, perfectly cooked and huge. At least 12 oz on the plate. Virtually no fat and almost too much to eat. The biscuits and gravy, and hash brown casserole made it a feast. My husband and I went to Cracker Barrel. Usually this is one of our favorite restaurants. The last two times we have eaten there we were very disappointed with the food. One time I wanted to try something new their Shepards Pie. Big mistake, it was terrible. The beef was tough and the gravy tasted awful. The other time we went we both ordered their Fridays fried fish special. This was one of our favorite items on the menu. When it arrived it looked different. First of all we noticed the iced tea glasses were smaller in size. And when our food arrived the plates were smaller too. We were served four very small pieces of battered cod fish. It was not their normal serving of fish. It looked and tasted like the cheap frozen fish you buy at the grocery store. It was very dry. The mac and cheese tasted awful. Visited on a Sunday at 9:30a so needless to say it was busy. There was A pretty lengthy wait to be seated and once we ordered there was an add'l 30-40 min wait. Despite that it was worth it. Customer service was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious. And it's always fun to browse the country store while you wait. read more

Usually Cracker Barrel is a faithful go to. I ordered fried chicken. It was greasy and real brown. The food came out just after they dropped off our drinks and my salad. It might have been 10 minutes tops. You can not cook fried chicken 4 piece with a breast in 10 minutes. It is like it was fried before and they dropped it again to warm it. Probably accounts for why it was so greasy. Not at all the Cracker Barrel I have come to expect. read more

Arrived Sunday morning around 8:45. Seated very quickly. They are now fully open but only about 60% of the tables were occupied at this time. Alicia was our waitress and she was awesome. She kept our drinks full and checked on us often. Took 20 minutes to get our food. Portions were good size and it was hot. Overall good experience. read more

We got very good service even though the place was full. Our food was solid. Bacon was somewhat overdone. Everything came out as ordered. We all got breakfast except for the oddball who got a hamburger. He said it was good. He is 8 and a hamburger expert so I'll take his word for it. I never thought I would write something this negative about this location but this was terrible. I have been here countless times and had great experiences, but today I would never return if I was a first time customer. The entire staff was grumpy, our hostess rolled her eyes when I said we had a party of six and was an inconvenience. Our waitress was short rude never refilled our drinks unless cornered and if I'm paying some close to $2 for coffee that is only Luke warm I need several rounds. The food cool so it had been in the warmer for a while, just looking around the entire dinning area it looked like everyone was mad and having a bad day. So the brunch was a kill joy, hopefully next time it will be better, especially if I can get my guest to return. read more

I was really hungry for breakfast this morning and haven't been to a Cracker Barrel in years so I swung in on my way home. The service was fast and friendly which always makes the dining experience better. There are a lot of great menu options but I settled on the Country Boy with ham as my choice of meat. The cost of the food was $9.99 plus tax. There were a couple options for meat and it has 3 eggs, apples, biscuits and grits. I can't eat the grits or the biscuits but the rest tasted great. I don't think my wait time was more than five minutes which is far faster than I expected. The only thing I wish would change (here and at every other restaurant) is the price of juice. An orange juice comes in at $2.49 plus tax. Not everyone likes to drink coffee and a glass of juice is an excellent compliment to breakfast. read more

I was in the hospital and sent my husband to pick up Cracker Barrel for me for breakfast. Was disappointed to say the least. First we ordered curbside, which they only have 2 spots for. The directions say if you can't find a spot to park as close as you can. Having handicap plates my husband parked in the handicap spot directly in front of the restaurant. After a while of watching the waitress come out with other orders he flagged her down to let her know he was there for an order. She was extremely rude and told him he was supposed to park in curbside (both spots were visibly taken) and that she didn't have an order for him. She left and he promptly called me, I had all the information in front of me. He flagged her down again and this time she argued with him about the color of our car, that we put the wrong car information in (we didn't, I was looking right at it) and that she was never going to notice us because we put black (we didn't) instead of blue. He got our meal and my French toast was missing syrup. Awesome. By that point the French toast was cold and couldn't be saved by their delicious syrup, eggs were over cooked as always, and overall I was just disappointed. Come on guys! read more

Cracker Barrel is a chain, we all know that. They do pancakes well, but if that's all they did well, why go through the hassle of the wait and just go to Braums or Waffle House? Their item they blast on their menu are the chicken n dumplings and for a place that should be known to at least attempt to have one dish that should be good - falls flat. The dumplings, many of which were all stuck to each other were bland. I spent half of my meal, separating dumplings and of course you can see the chicken were tenders that were over baked and then tossed in the dumpling mix - I should have seen this coming. Overall, my wife enjoyed her pancakes and that satisfied me - but she's pregnant so I'm certain most meals at any place could satisfy her. Use to love Cracker Barrel, but unfortunately quality has gone down. My last 2 visits to Cracker Barrel were not good. Yesterday my hash browns were absolutely burnt. Can't believe the cook and server thought that was ok. My husband's French fries had obviously been refried. Most were inedible. Time before that, the bread on my sandwich was obviously burnt. Yesterday I had the roast beef and my wife had fried catfish. With a dessert and two iced teas our bill was $57 with tip. Honestly, the food tasted like Cracker Barrel is cutting corners. My roast beef was over salted and the portion size was tiny. My wife's catfish was not as good as is served by other area restaurants at a cheaper price. While the service was good, I think this is because the place was noticeably sparse for a Saturday night. If I'm going to spend $57 for a meal out, I have many other, better dining options. I read today about Cracker Barrel's decline in traffic, and want to tell the company, your recovery Is not about revamping the look of your stores, it's about the quality of your food, first and foremost. read more

First I want to say I just love Cracker Barrel set ups. The little gift store is adorable and can spend plenty of time just shopping. The feel is an overall country down to earth family environment. I do like the Cracker Barrel for its consistency and today's visit was a great example of that. I know what I like, my order is easy and it's nearly always prepared perfectly. The "Uncle Hershel's Breakfast with eggs poached medium, hash brown casserole and pork chop (it's not salty like the bacon or the sausage patties!)" also comes with biscuits and grits, though I usually have them hold those. This Cracker Barrel has a sign up this morning that says certain items may not be available on the menu. When I ordered "Grandma's Sampler" I was told they don't have Hashbrown Caselrole. When I asked for something to replace the Hashbrown they gave me a crappy cup of fruit. The waitress said they were saving the Hashbrown Caselrole for Thanksgiving.
