Another day, another Cracker Barrel. They're just so darned convenient and nine times out of ten, there is no difference between one and the next. This was in the "nine" group. I arrived at 9am on a weekday, so the usual pre-work breakfast crowd was long gone. This left me with a choice of seats and an attentive server. Coffee was brought to me while I reviewed the menu. Which was silly of me because I already knew what I wanted. "Uncle Herschel's Favorite" always fills me up for a long day of driving and today was no exception. Two eggs over medium (easy on the cooking oil) with grits, biscuits and gravy (I only had half of one), hashbrown casserole (yummy!) and a small nibble of the country ham (too salty!) Came for breakfast with the husband - have come here many times before as well because this is our closest Cracker Barrel. We love Cracker Barrel and always have no matter where we have lived. The service was unfortunately slow. Our waitress seemed to have too many tables to keep up with our small party. I ordered the vegetable plate. My husband ordered a plate and was brought apples for his side without being asked what he would prefer for his side. The waitress responded that she "just put down apples" because most people liked them. He was not happy about that! She only checked on us one time after that for refills. This location consistently seems understaffed and could use more help during the shift. I feel that the location is steady when it comes to traffic because it is near the interstate. Went to dinner here last night. Originally had four people. They sat us down right under two air vents and we were freezing. We noticed another table for four was empty and asked our server if we could move there. They allowed us to move with no problem. We then had a fifth person randomly join us and they allowed us to just bring a chair from another table over to our table. I also got the Apple Cider BBQ grilled chicken that their menu says only comes with two of the "wholesome fixin's" but I asked our server if I could get any sides or if it has to be from the healthier sides choices and she said I could get any sides and I wasn't charged extra. We also split the check four ways. We were overly complicated, not intentionally, and they handled everything with ease. The food was great, the service was great, and we were in and out of there in a decent amount of time. Highly recommend! *And if you haven't tried the apple cider BBQ chicken, you absolutely should. It is delicious! It's basically grilled chicken topped with apple cider BBQ sauce, fresh spoke, and dried cranberry chutney. It's amazing! read more

It's a lazy Friday morning and by lazy I mean the ice cold maple syrup would flow quicker than our food arriving. 45 minutes now...still no food! I am hangry now. Release the beast! Absolutely love Cracker Barrel! This was our first time to this location. Service was amazing... friendly, attentive staff. Our party was about 10 people last week. They were quick to address our seating needs. Restaurant was clean and homey. I love to look at all the decor on the walls. My go-to meal is the Sunday Homestyle chicken... phenomenal. My husband and I like to share this amazing coffee drink that has caramel and butterscotch in it. We always enjoy looking in the giftshop area, too. Our favorite things to get whenever we make a trip to Cracker Barrel is popcorn/marshmallow jelly beans and raspberry/blackberry gummies... unfortunately, neither of them were in stock this time. Not exposed to very many chain restaurants, (but I have no complaints with the recently discovered Denny's nor Outback). So when we stopped here two years ago, I exclaimed "How unique!" "No", I was told, "they are all exactly the same". I recall that I ordered a tasty Reuben sandwich although I see, it is not on the online menu now. Wait staff was sweet, friendly and helpful. Memorably grumpy cashier was not. After eating we sat outside for a while in the early evening, enjoying their line up of comfy chairs with board games. Families seemed very cheerful within, perhaps enjoying the table games provided. A relaxing recreation. What century is this anyway? Our last visit to this location was well over 4 years ago. We had hoped in that amount of time they would have worked out their kinks. No such luck. The food was good. The service was horrible. I could tell as soon as we sat down and greeted by the server that she had no interest in this job. We knew exactly what we wanted, so we placed our food order with our drink order, and specifically ordered cornbread basing our meal selections on the bread. The meals were brought out without bread and missing a baked potato. When asked if I needed anything else, I made mention of the missing items. We were then told that they were out of cornbread and would be back with the potato. My wife and I went ahead and started our meal. I was told twice, during my meal, that the potato was coming out soon. The manager, who could barely speak English, finally retrieved the potato. And delivered it to the table after we had finished eating. My first clue, that should have told me that this CB location was still having problems, was that there were on 8 other customers in the entire restaurant. My sister and I had the coastal sampler of shrimp and fish. The shrimp were hard, overdone, tasteless and not clearly identifiable as shrimp. But the unacceptable part of the meal was the end where we stood in a crowded line trying to let people coming in get by as we waited to pay. When the cashier finally got to us, we said we'd asked for separate tickets but they'd been combined. Her rude, passive aggressive remarks were embarrassing and in the middle of trying to figure out the two items she stopped to chat with a co--worker about pickles. She made us wait as long as possible. We won't be going back to this particular Cracker Barrel. This occurred about 3pm on Friday Jan. 12th and there was only one checker...so I hope she can be identified and "coached" on customer service. Business was very light and very few people there yet, we were told there was a 45 minute wait to be seated. I had ordered Mama's Pancakes but instead of buttermilk pancakes I ordered the pecan pancakes. They gave me the buttermilk pancakes instead of the pecan pancakes. I honestly do not blame the waitress we had in the beginning because after that when they gave me the pecan pancakes one of them was not cooked at all. It just did not look right. Neither time were my orders correct or just not ready when I show up to pickup. They were cold(nobody likes cold breakfast). Second was the "Southern Fried Chicken" promotion. Being from the south, I know about great fried chicken. It was either frozen or someone had no idea on how to cook it properly. It was so salty that it was just..awful. It was not that busy. I eventually walked out. Second was when I had the above mentioned "Southern Fried Chicken". Pretty much like this...Takes order-Gets drink-gets food-brings check. No interaction. No refill. No, "how was your meal?", "Can I get you anything else?". When I went to pay the cashier, "How was your meal?"... "I'm sorry about that..Your total is..." I asked to speak to a manager but after waiting 10 minutes I left. I contacted corporate on more than one occasion and like my in store service, it was just as terrible. Who rates this place with 3-5 stars? I guess they visited on a "good day"because I find it hard for that to even to be fathomable... Update: 11-7-2019. Same only this time. Long standing staff should have a better attitude than new staff yet the one star staff was much better. Further please do not yell at staff while on the floor. Four stars should know better, walk over to the staff on the floor and discuss with them about their selling, don't yell at them across us guests. I don't want to be mean but this location at the Dickson Cracker Barrel is VERY VERY SLOW. The servers was slow and terrible. The person who served us was also rude. We ordered our food and we waited SO LONG for our food. When we had our food most of the orders were wrong and were put on other people's plates. When i got my food, most of it was VERY COLD. The scrambled eggs were not even scrambled, it was and omelet like. The pancakes were very salty and the bacon was very hard. Also, the lemonade was had brown stuff in it. Would not recommend this location as they can't even cook eggs correctly. We waited for 34 minutes on the old uncle hershels breakfast and my eggs were hard mind you its 10:56 am here. I didn't want the grits or the biscuits and gravy I asked to substitute those two items for one pancake. Nope they charged me $4 extra instead. Rediculous. Other cracker barrels I have been to don't have a problem doing this. This one does. Very slow cooks here. We have been on the road from a trip out west by RV and wanted something familiar. After reading the reviews we were worried the service would be very slow. Well James was our waiter he not only waited on us but also bussed tables and waited on other customers. The restaurant was busy and there seemed to be enough waiters but some were busier than others. The food came out hot and correct. All in all it was a good experience. Very friendly service, quick enough. Some of the silverware was dirty. I was starving and ordered a breakfast meal for my dinner. None of my meal was hot. Nor was my son's. The gravy for the biscuits was so thick, cold and congealed I could have turned the dish over and nothing would have dripped out! Bacon was much too greasy. I think that's probably the first time I've left bacon almost entirely uneaten at Cracker Barrel. My cheese scrambled eggs, although not hot, were still good. Grits were edible once salt, pepper and butter were added. Barely warm though. The most disappointing was the hashbrown casserole. Cold, hard and burny. Bummer. I haven't had a good experience at any Cracker Barrel in years, But, the friendly staff and clean bathroom earned this location three stars. read more
