My family of 4 stopped in here while traveling to get supper and stretch our legs since we have children and a drive to continue. It wasn't busy at all. Hostess said wait would be about 20 minutes, which it was and that was fine. What was not fine is waiting over an hour and a half for our food, the server literally disappearing for over half that time frame, no biscuits while waiting, only refilled our drinks once, food was not hot, we literally told our kids to just fill their bellies and we'd get back on the road. They literally ordered cereal and pancakes which could have been brought out to them before ours. I understand kitchens try to get everything out at the same time but geez if you know it's going to be a minute and there are kids at the table, it would be much more convenient to not have them waiting that long of a period for something simple. They literally had stated they would have rather went to freakin Taco Bell of all places than to wait that long again. Waitress didn't ask us how our food was until she dropped the bill at the table. Very friendly service, quick enough. Some of the silverware was dirty. I was starving and ordered a breakfast meal for my dinner. None of my meal was hot. Nor was my son's. The gravy for the biscuits was so thick, cold and congealed I could have turned the dish over and nothing would have dripped out! Bacon was much too greasy. I think that's probably the first time I've left bacon almost entirely uneaten at Cracker Barrel. My cheese scrambled eggs, although not hot, were still good. Grits were edible once salt, pepper and butter were added. Barely warm though. The most disappointing was the hashbrown casserole. Cold, hard and burny. Bummer. I haven't had a good experience at any Cracker Barrel in years, But, the friendly staff and clean bathroom earned this location three stars. read more

I've been to this location probably 20 times, its great. UNLESS. It's after about 7:30, after dinner hours but before closing. Been there later a couple times and it's always awful. The hostess threw menus down on the table and walked away without saying anything to every customer, including us, the table we were given still had silverware and condiments and trash from the last people, the food portions are a lot smaller late at night, my salad had other food in it that didn't belong there, like the salad bar back in the kitchen had used the same serving utensils or had food mixed up during the day. Late at night the hash brown casserole is never cooked all the way through. It's always disappointing later at night. But any other time it's great. read more

We were warmly greeted and promptly seated. Waitress was wonderful and very accommodating. Appeared clean and organized. We had an exceptionally long wait on food which was a bummer because they were busy at all. Gravy was so thick it had to be eaten with a spoon, the waitress even commented on it and attempted to revive it but failed when the replacements weren't any better. No matter where you go you'll find one of these serving the same thing over and over and over. First couple of times it's a fun stop, but after that, meh. CB's are normally very consistent. This one is in need of major overhaul or has just been. All new wait staff., need new cooks......Vegetable soup was cold and had rotten something in it (see pic). This is my second review of this restaurant. In general the food is good. It's what you expect from this brand as a rule; however, the service at this particular restaurant is chronically sub par. Tonight I ordered the Friday fish special, described in the online menu as "four large breaded cod fillets". These were ok but were about the size of a grown man's thumb. However the worst part was that the add on shrimp and vegetable soup i ordered were not included in my pickup bag. I paid for these items when I ordered but the expediter or kitchen manager, if there was one, totally missed this. Things like this happen at this restaurant regularly. I keep giving them chances because we like the brand, but this particular store is poorly managed. If you are passing through and want Cracker Barrel, I'd drive 30 more minutes to the store on Charlotte Pike in Nashville. Don't set yourself up for disappointment read more

I'll start off and say the waitress was great BUT I ordered 1 omelet with ham, cheese and sausage. THEY CHARGED ME $16!!! I didn't get any biscuits or gravy for sides I just wanted the omelette. My family adores Cracker Barrel with everything we are. Never had a complaint! However, this location was a complete disappointment. The meatloaf was ridiculously undercooked, the steak was severely over cooked, and the soup seemed like it had sat in the window for forever because of how cold it was. Truly the worst meatloaf, steak, and soup I've ever had. I have zero complaints for the service; waitress was pleasant! However, the kitchen needs to get their act together. All around me I heard nothing but complaints about their meals. When our server went to tell the kitchen of their mistakes, they gave sorry excuses, and LIED about what was wrong with our food. No sir, the meat is uncooked to death..it's not tomato paste. Preparing for a Baby Shower, I purchased items from the "Cracker Barrel to go menu." The service was quick and our food was brought out to us fresh and well organized. The employees were so polite, they not only made sure my order was correct, but they also took the time to make sure we had the little things like spoons, napkins, and even ice! They were so professional, all of my worries of the perfect " Baby Shower Meal" were gone. The food was delicious and the portions just right. I have been to many CBs in different states. This one could use some work. The store is great, and staff is friendly. However, every time my spouse and I go we leave annoyed. We love their food but it is never right at this location. Either our waitress ignores us or the managers do. One time in particular we went for breakfast. ..eggs were runny. They were supposed to remake them. They heated the original up and then they were burned. I went for a manager and he was notified that a customer needed him. He saw me and made me wait 10 minutes. Wouldn't even speak to me when he walked by. When I finally got him to our table he offered a bowl of grits to compensate. No discount for the terrible service or food...well the biscuits are always great. The cashier more than apologized and "wished" she could do more. They need some work. read more

The measure of a restaurant is how the staff reacts when alerted to the fact that he poorly prepared meal arrived at the table. This evening my wife and I had supper at Cracker Barrel. I ordered as did she the country fried turkey. The turkey was poorly battered and overcooked so badly that it was too dry to even eat. The manager who happen to be bussing the table next to us ( great leadership in my opinion). Asked if there was any problem with our dinner when I told him that the turkey was dry he immediately replaced it with the homestyle fried chicken. The homestyle fried chicken was delicious! When he brought my chicken he even asked if I would like some gravy for the chicken. He absolutely rectify the situation immediately without any argumentative attitude or any problematic events. Used this store for a catering order and the main meal items were missing after being delivered 45 minutes late. Multiple calls had to be made and after a second delivery an hour and a half after the scheduled time, the missing items were still not provided. Staff was rude , store manager was worse, and I was accused of lying about the items ordered even after providing the online order confirmation. General manager Mike assured it would be addressed and missing items would be credited, but three weeks and two reminders later, they have not been. Save yourself the aggravation and use someone else for your catering until they can address the issues with their staff and management. read more

To be honest, I used to like Cracker Barrel before this meal. I had been a couple times and thought that the value for the quantity of food is pretty great, however the whole meal I found myself trying to find something tasty from the mediocre assortment of foods that came with my meal. I ordered the "Grandpa's Country Fried Breakfast" (two eggs, country fried steak, grits, biscuits, gravy, hash brown casserole, and regret) and I don't even know why I tried the eggs. I thought scrambled would be the hardest to mess up, but I think they may have cooked them on the plate they were served on because they were firmly plastered on to it. The country fried steak made me sicker every bite I took and the grits were so flavorless, I didn't bother eating them. The only good parts of the meal were the hash brown casserole and the biscuits and gravy. The hash brown casserole was pretty cheesy and provided an momentary lapse of blandness. No complaints about the biscuits and gravy though, they were good. The service was also good except for the fact that they knowingly served me that meal. We went to Cracker Barrel for an early dinner -- it was not crowded. The hostess was a teenaged girl who reminded me of the Peyton Place women -- starring into space, no expression -- very robotic and zombie-like. She put our menus down at the table that was right in front of the kitchen. I asked if we could be moved. I suggested that maybe we could sit just a couple of tables away. It was in the same area she attempted to seat us. She said - ok, put our menus down and walked away. Even tough there were 3 servers in the area we were seated, we realized we had been there for 10 minutes with no server stopping by our table or even acknowledging we were there. A server from another part of the restaurant asked us if anyone was helping us and we said no. She said that no one was assigned to our table as the 'section wasn't opened.' She took care of her customers and then took our order and brought our food out very promptly. Clearly the young woman who seated us knew that the table I suggested did not have a server assigned to it -- afterall, she was the hostess with the assignment chart. I just don't understand some people -- what was going through her mind? Obviously she doesn't understand that customer service is her J-O-B!! And what we got was horrible customer service from her. We did reward the server handsomely for taking good care of us. BTW - the food was as expected -- nothing really memorable, but then again, I don't think Cracker Barrel food is -- it's just sustanence! read more

Stopped by after a long day. Got here at 8:10pm. Got seated, restaurant pretty empty. No server for 10+ minutes. Hostess saw us sitting there and came to get drink orders. Another 10 mins, server came and bussed two table right next to ours and never acknowledged us. We got her attention and told her we were ready to order. Order finally came 20+ mins later. They were "out of cornbread and Mac n cheese". No apology, no asking if we wanted something else. No silverware. Had to ask, wait 5 more minutes. No knives to cut our chicken. Asked for manager. He came out and just awkwardly stood there saying "we shouldn't have run out of that". And said he'd "remove the missing side item" from our bill. Wow how kind to remove something I didn't even get. We also watched the table next to us get cornbread after us. Useless leadership and it reflects on the whole place. Saw multiple other people complaining as well. We were at the one in Dickson, TN, and they were out of GRITS at breakfast!!!! I had just told everyone in the car that Tennessee Cracker Barrel's had the best grits and we should stop. They should NEVER run out when it's a main side!!! They didn't tell us until they were delivering the meals! No discount either! Also ordered the Berry Tea and the waitress said we haven't had it for a long time . . . We'll, take it off the menu!!! The servers are amazing every single time... I've been to this Cracker Barrel thousands of times. The food is par nothing great nothing bad. The management is pretty terrible tho.... they are inattentive and rude. Except Chuck he was polite and helpful. Mallory has also accommodated to my needs before well.. Rodney has gotten his job done well with me as well.. mike seems rude and condescending. The retail staff is always lovely and polite as can be. But only go there if your ready to hear some of the cashiers singing their own concert. Hayley, the retail manager, is the best. Over all 80% of the time a good time. I found the manager to be less than helpful in accepting an electronic version of our out of state tax exempt form and "couldn't" print it-In the age of technology, Cracker Barrel in Dixon, Tenn get with the times and be helpful -take a tip from Boy Scouts. We have thoroughly enjoyed our Cracker Barrel experiences prior at other locations with consistency of service. A good 45 minuets into a 20 minute wait with a family of 6, I decided to politely wait in line to inquire whether or not our name had been called and perhaps we had missed it. What I received from the staff was a "you'll just have to hold it". I asked for clarification in case there was a misunderstanding and received a very fake southern home style pretend polite while simultaneously insulting reply. No complaint had been offered nor tone given. The attitude was completely uncalled for. We promptly departed without escalation with the trailing same garbage disrespectful fake home style "I'll just go ahead and remove you from the list and have a good day". They obviously don't need our business and I'm sure they'll be just fine with others so committed to accept it. read more

I travel across I 40 twice a year and stop at Cracker Barrel restaurants for nearly every meal. This location consistently has the best tasting food bar none. In general, Cracker Barrels in Tennessee tend to be outstanding, but I have always enjoyed the quality and taste of the food at the Dickson location. read more

We eat at a lot of Cracker Barrel restaurants for breakfast when traveling. We have eaten at this one on several occasions and the service is always good, the food usually consistent.....on the most recent stop, we requested an alternate table than the one we were taken to.....and that seemed to really throw everyone out of sync !! Our waitress didn't know we were there, but she did finally get it together enough to take our order.....She had a 4 star apron, so we thought she was experienced. But she seemed totally flustered, and to make her day even better, a couple at a nearby table took one look at the menu and left !! She was further flustered !! The only con with our breakfast order was the bacon....not as crispy as I would have liked, but then I didn;t request "crispy"..really didn't think I needed to do that, but will do so in future.....It is usual to have a different server deliver the order, and when she did, she discovered that two things had been omitted, so she said she would correct it and get them out......and they were promptly brought out. We will continue to eat at Cracker Barrels, they are about the best breakfast [and other entrees, like the haddock dinner, the buttermilk chicken on Sundays, the chicken fried chicken..] you know what to expect at Cracker Barrel, the decaf coffee is great, they are usually nice servers, a cozy environment, clean restrooms, a little gift center, a nice place to stop and relax over a meal when traveling. Sometimes this location can be crowded and noisy, as there are few restaurants at this exit. I would definitely recommend either this or the Farmers Restaurant over anything else at this exit. read more

Nope! Traveling through by far the longest wait I have ever had at any Cracker Barrel. Literally my favorite place to eat that's why this is heartbreaking to me. We were dying to come back to Cracker Barrel after living in Korea for years. It was not the same and we were sorely disappointed at how low their service and quality has become, at least at this establishment. Upon entering the general store was neat, everything in its place and they had tons of unique items. But everything was dirty and dusty, the "been so dusty for so long that it's now sticky dusty" kind of dusty. Tables and chairs were also dirty. The floor was covered in crumbs. We waited about 30 minutes for our order which is reasonable because they were pretty busy. However, I was missing half of my order, no biscuits and gravy and no grits, all I got were eggs and bacon. I had to remind our waitress of it and it finally came out at the end of our meal. I also had a short blonde or white hair in my eggs, absolutely disgusting. My husband blew it off my plate otherwise there would be a picture here. My husbands chicken fried chicken was good. My sons blueberry pancakes had no blueberries, so that was nice. Overall experience was crappy. Also, their bathroom was nasty, there was urine all over every single toilet. I'm not sure if all cracker barrels are like this, but please avoid this one. read more

Update: at 6:30 the manager brought me my order, didn't apologize for the 40 minuets I waited for JUST CORNBREAD. This is a sorry excuse of a restaurant and a sorry excuse for management. I will not be back and I will make sure that all of my family and friends hear about this. I will also be contacting corporate. Hopefully they will be better than this location. read more
