After the hullabaloo about Brandon and all of that I wasn't sure, but I tried it. I'm glad I did. We had no wait, they got us seated right away. They got us our drinks real quick. It's not yet payday so I was a little tight on money so we didn't buy the fanciest stuff, we ordered off of the value menu. They treated us just fine. The food was out real quick. It was good food. It's the same place I've loved for years, same atmosphere and decorations and all of that. Fireplace, checkers, little brain teaser games on the table. I love it. Was here for almost an hour before we even got food. Had to ask the main door to check on our food when it was brought to the table. It was not hot like he promised. Our group of 6 went in kinda as a joke and kinda for a friend who loves it. We all tried everything together and had a pretty good experience. We got seated quickly by the kind staff and enjoyed the novelty of going thru a gift store to reach the restaurant as well as the old style decoration. The drinks were so so, the food was so so, everything was just average or below. The chicken "dumplings" were awful. They did do well on the breaded and fried dishes like the chicken sandwich and the fried okra. Payment was made up front quick and easy. Where to start.... Our waitress was on her last day of training before going solo. I had words of encouragement.... Everyone has to start out.... Wellll.... Her trainer needs to be trained. She took our order. Wrote it down. Asked again... Now what did you want. And wrote some more down. We waited for a good 45 mins. We finally asked about it. My dad's food was not correct. Mine was not as well. She specifically asked my dad what kind of jam would he like, he said you pick. Her choice was nothing. When her trainer asked if we needed anything.... Jelly please. She never came back. I had asked for lettuce, tomato and onion, she finally came back with that. At this point my food is getting cold. They never brought refills for our water and tea until someone else walked by and just put them at our table. It was sweet tea. Not what dad was drinking. He was given corn. Not what he had asked for. And they both asked and confirmed our order before they put it in. Corn is good. I'm not able to eat it. So .. if it had been my food.... That's the point. Be aware that people asked for thinga for a reason, they are not trying to be difficult. If there are choices for aides.... Why were they not correct. The corn muffins were so cold and hard by time she did bring the jelly, which we had to ask for again. We are. She came back to ask if we were ready for the bill. Yes we are and could we have some boxes. She asked one or two? I said 2 please. One for me and one for my dad. She brings one. And a bag. So .. I catch her again and ask for another box. She said ... You only asked for one. OMG. That was rude. Just get the box was my thought. The couple next to us were having trouble as well. Her meatloaf was raw.... So .. as her husband ate his dinner she sat and was waiting for hera to come back. He was more than halfway thru his and hers still hadn't come back. The wait staff need to improve on not concentrating so much on taking at the table with the consumers and concentrating more on getting the things the consumers have asked for. First off my husband and I stopped in here for a quick lunch after shopping. The serving of fries that we were told is a "normal" serving of fries consisted of 13 fries on my plate. That's correct 13 single fries is what we were told constitutes an order of fries. Then I had asked for a refill and I was ignored as the wait staff went into and back or of the kitchen a number of times bringing others food, drinks and other things. I still waited, then finally I said could I please have my Dr. Pepper refill? Then I finally received it. This location needs some work! read more

My wife and I wanted to grab a bite for dinner, so we went to the Cracker Barrel in Forest Park. Two Words: BIG MISTAKE. When we arrived to this Cracker Barrel, we figured it would be busy and were not too dismayed by the crowd inside. Our friendly hostess managed to find us a table by the window. Sadly, we had to request a different location because the table, chairs and floor were still dirty. In fact, most of the places in the dining area were dirty. The floor was sticky in a few spots as well. The new area was a little bit cleaner, but not by much. My wife ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken with Pinto Beans, Hash Brown Casserole and Green Beans. I ordered the same, but with Hash Brown Casserole and 2 servings of Turnip Greens. We waited, and waited, and waited...all the while, watching people who came after us receiving their food. Finally, our food had arrived...and it was NOT good. The Chicken Fried Chicken was not done, and you can tell by the large undone spot. My wife's "pinto beans" were actually baked beans. Also, the green beans had corn mixed into it. The food looked like it was thrown on the plate, as if whoever plated it, just plain did not care at all. We did not eat anything. We told our server, and she offered to get the manager. We waited for a while, but decided to leave. We refused to wait any longer after such a horrible experience, and left. Long ago, this was one of the best Cracker Barrels we would frequent. Now, it is not worth the gas wasted for us to visit. Do yourself a favor: Do Not Waste Your Money Eating Here. read more

I do like Cracker Barrels, however, this one I do not care for and will never be back. It is the worst Cracker Barrel in customer service and quality of food. We ordered take out and they said it would be 20-25 minutes. We were completely OK with that. We ordered: 1 Home Chicken Dinner with Fried Apples; 1 Pot Pie; 1 Grilled Rainbow Trout Dinner with Broccoli & Fried Apples; 2 Dirt Desserts; 1 Peach Tea. Our order came to $39.54. Unfortunately, our order did not take 20-25 minutes like they said it would, it took 1 hour & 15 minutes to receive our order and no apologies, no compensation either! When our order did come, it was warm not hot and did not taste good. The Chicken Pot Pie was served very sloppy and tasteless, the broccoli was rubbery, the chicken was salty, the Dirt Desserts were lacking ingredients, taste, and presentation. However, the Rainbow Trout and Fried Apples were good. We do not recommend this place. read more

Worst cracker barrel I have ever been to. Hash brown casserole was a small pile of frozen hashbrowns with a barely melted slice of cheese on top. They brought the wrong order for my daughter...the whole meal was wrong. The campfire shrimp skillet had 3 shrimp. 3 quarter size pieces of sausage and 2 tiny potatoes. Sad. I've always loved Cracker Barrel. From the array of various trinkets, candies and decor when you walk in.. to the giant fireplace roaring and the good ol' country food coming from the kitchen... However.. we seem to be on a bad luck streak when we come here and it's been a bit disappointing. Our server was friendly, but also maybe a bit too busy to give us the usual level of decent service. As I have been saying in most of my reviews lately.. this might be COVID related and caused by short staff. Our food was taking quite some time to come out. Well over 45 minutes. And sure enough.. when it came out you could tell that it had been sitting under the heat lamp for quite a while. This is always a bummer. Food gets crusty and the freshness just wasn't there. Our waitress forgot a few things and dropped one piece of food on the ground.. but was happy to help make it right. The food wasn't terrible. My chicken broccoli was great. Her chicken was not so great. Overall, this isn't enough to keep me from coming back by any means.. but I do hope that we can break our mehhh experience trend here! read more

It has been a long while since my husband and I had dined at Cracker Barrel. Not sure why. So when decided to drop in for a bite, I was hoping for quite a treat. And that's exactly what I got. After missing lunch, I was famished, so I ordered the Roast Beef dinner with three sides: mashed potatoes, carrots and green beans. My husband ordered the Apple Cider BBQ Chicken Breast dinner from the Wholesome/lighter-calorie menu, which I got to sample. Both entrees were delicious! Everything was served piping hot and our service was quick. Our waitress also deserves a shout-out. She was pleasant, courteous and funny. She also made sure that our water glasses were always full. For dessert my husband and I shared the Biscuit Beignets with Butter Pecan Sauce. It was the perfect size to share and boy was it yummy and sinful! While I know Cracker Barrel has been around for a long time, I highly recommend that you stop in for dinner sometime. She brought the missing item. No one ever checked back with us to see how the food was or to refill our drinks. I went for my birthday breakfast with family. It wasn't a long wait to be seated. We looked around the store until we waited. They placed us in an area that was extremely cold. My ill father did by the fireplace to keep warm. Our server was very friendly and made good suggestions on items. What I wanted wasn't on the menu that day so I tried something similar. I order the country fried chicken with potatoes and corn as well as hash brown casserole. It came out pretty quick. The chicken tasted funny so I are the hash brown casserole and other sides. Something about how the chicken was processed or cooked but it was disgusting. I usually get the southern chicken on Sundays which is very different. Everyone else seemed happy with their order. I like this location but will stick with Sundays so I can get my favorite here. Staff is friendly and helpful. Good customer service overall. read more

I've always had excellent food and service at this Cracker Barrel location! Most recently, I ordered 50 pieces of fried chicken (to be picked up) for an event at my church. It ended up being more expensive than I wanted, but it was definitely worth the money. It was so delicious! There had been some confusion, too, between the morning crew, with whom I had placed my order, and the dinner crew that was checking me out. They had my order and it was mostly ready when I arrived but no one had put it in the system. Not to worry, though, the manager got it all straightened out. I paid and was on my way. I'll choose to do lunch meetings at this Cracker Barrel because they are quick and efficient. The servers I've had have always been awesome. It's Cracker Barrel - so the price is decent. A completely different experience than our last visit. Our party meet at Cracker Barrel for brunch after an event. We were a group of mostly children. Our server was warm and welcoming. She checked on us often. When the food came, any of the children with fresh items (salad or fruit,) she told them that their food was extra special because she made those parts with love. Seriously, how sweet is that?!? Food portions are generous. I'm not sure what changed, but nobody left hungry. The children's pancakes are the size of a toddler's head. I ordered an adult order of the pancakes and they were even bigger. I also ordered the blackberry compote. It was served on the side. It was not overly sweet. Berries retained a bit of their natural tartness. All pancakes are served with bottles of real maple syrup. Children's hamburgers are as large as some places' adult burgers. There is a selection of sides. One of my children opted for fruit, while the other opted for french fries. The fruit was fresh (as it was made with love.) Lunch/dinner children's meals come with a drink. Breakfast children's meals do not. Other people in our group ordered breakfast items and salad. They seemed to be happy with their choices. Their meals were large in size as well. Even though the restaurant was busy, we did not feel rushed. On top of being a restaurant, Cracker Barrel is also a store. If looking for country/shabby chic, old time or similar such gifts and candy Cracker Barrel has you covered. Some stores specialize in throwback, and country style gifts. At this location they have them, but there is a larger selection of more modern era styled goods, toys and food items. Those big eyed Ty stuffed animals really caught the children's attention. That and the Valentine's day display. They all found "the prefect man" made out of chocolate to be hilarious. I wish I had had more time to look around. I ordered 2 meals from Cracker Barrel via doordash the big breakfast was fine however the mama's pancake breakfast came with the wrong meat not turkey sausage but pork sausage that was burnt and the egg yolks were broken when I went through doordash they're like oh but we're not gonna give you anything back so not only would I no longer want to use doordash, but it's very difficult these days with restaurants trying to skip and save that they will do this intentionally in my opinion at times to make up for money and not give you what you ordered Please see the photos attached to show that I'm not bs ing read more

So, there are locations that I would rate a 1 and others as high as a 3 (tops). This location is pretty consistently a 3. I had the cat fish, beans Mac and cheese and greens. Everything was good except the greens. They weren't horrible but the meat they were cooked with I didn't enjoy the taste. My dining partner ordered pancakes that were raw on the inside (batter wet). We ate here on a Sunday afternoon, we originally were hesitant thinking they'd be super busy, but thankfully there was only a 10 minute wait. The food was good, we had the Sunday chicken with mash potatoes, hash brow casserole, and roasted carrots. the only bummer was the service. Despite not being super busy the staff did have a good amount of tables to serve so I'll give them a little break. But my friend received 2 orders of Mac n cheese instead of her mashed potatoes and Mac n cheese. Drinks weren't filled until she brought our check. Didn't bring the biscuits until we reminded her after she brought the meal. And the server seemed to have an attitude. We've had great service here before, so we'll definitely be back. I can always find something to eat here, but am usually not impressed. It's not bad, just, well, good-not-great and very predictable. Sweetie got the "campfire" beef, which I've had before: roast beef, potatoes, carrots, corn, sealed in foil. She liked everything but the corn, which I tried: overcooked, soggy. I had the southern grilled chicken caesar salad, which was surprisingly very good. Good chicken, tasty and tender. Lots of fresh romaine, some parm, nice croutons, a few tomatoes. Healthy and tasty. Sweet tea was not. Sweetie never got her Coke refilled. But generally good service, decent food, decent prices. Nice to have some items up front, since we forgot a few on our trip. The last time I was there it was a Monday (Christmas Eve Eve) right around dinner time. They were busy but not Sunday afternoon packed. There was about a 30 minimum wait to get seated. Once we got seated we waited for about ten minutes then a waitress walked passed us and looked shocked we were sitting at the table. She took our drink order and took our food order cause we had ten minutes I figure it out. We waited another 10 and we still hadn't even received our drinks; a water and a diet, nothing crazy. At this point we got up and left. We asked to see a manager and had to wait another 5 minutes to see him and that wait time was only shorter do to a gift shop lead asking us how we were and she radioed the manager again and told him to get there immediately. He apologized and told us the next time we were in to ask for him and he would take care of us. They lost a lot of business that night because of poor communication. The whole reason we went was to get a giant candy bar for a Christmas gift and who can resist all the pretty things in the gift shop. Take away: They ruined Christmas. My mom called ahead of time and tried to secure a couple tables for my daughters grad celebration. We had about 19 people coming and they were amazing in trying to accommodate us while sticking to the social distancing limits. We were able to sit together but that didn't stop us form having a great time. The waitress, Stephanie, was the epitome of quality service. I told her this too. We had just had a terrible experience with Bob Evans the morning before and she made me realize how service should be. We never waited or wanted anything. She refilled our drinks and always kept us informed if our food. Thank you so much for helping us make this a great time for my daughter.
