this was a roadside stop on my drive from Richmond to Raleigh NC. when you enter the building, the first thing you see is the country store. i always thought this was a charming characteristic of Cracker Barrel, as not a lot of other establishments have this. it feels very homey here and i particularly liked the soda selection along the back wall. however, food is the most important. i ordered two items, a beef dish and the chicken n' dumplings. the beef dish was very good, it was warm, cooked nicely, great flavor. but i was still hungry, so i ordered more food. unfortunately, the chicken n dumplings wasn't as good. it was served to me cold, and barely had any chicken. i also found that it lacked the same deep flavor of the beef dish previously. nonetheless, i had excellent service. my server was the sweetest woman in the world! she had an incredible southern hospitality that brightened my experience very much. as a kid from southern california, this was a nice surprise. overall i really like cracker barrel. i'm gonna try other things on the menu next time, but i thìnk they have to do better on the chicken n dumplings. read more

We stopped here in the way to Maryland to get a decent dinner. I'm not sure if they're just so busy, they don't have enough staff or what.... It took so long to get even biscuits. They were hot when we finally got them. The rest of the food was okay. My eggs were under done. Everytime our server came she complained about SOMETHING. Otherwise it was hard to find het. On our way to Virginia, we stopped at this Cracker Barrel to use the bathroom. After entering, we immediately said we would grab lunch here. Peggy, our waitress was so informative and very nice. We were impressed. The campfire soup, campfire chicken, and pinto beans were spot on. Peggy kept our drinks full, made sure we had what we needed, and brought us corn muffins and biscuits before asking. I'm not sure why the rating was low but I hope this helps. Great staff! read more

Four stars for a fabulous Cracker Barrel. Warmly welcomed and brought to a table, my order (meatloaf with mac & cheese and carrots) was taken immediately and it did not take very long at all. A nice portion, served hot and with a smile. After dinner, I parked the Sprinter in a dark corner of the lot and locked up for the night. Yes, my Sprinter is converted into an RV and Cracker Barrel tolerates us staying overnight in their lot. It was a quiet night and in the morning, I was up and on my way before they opened. On my road trip to Atlanta me & the wife stopped for breakfast. It wasn't really crowded we were able to walk in & be seated in like 5/10 minutes. Plus our waitress was very nice, fast, & friendly. The only issue we had was the service was slow it took almost 30 minutes for our food to come out which wouldn't be an issue if the place was crowded. But again it wasn't & we didn't order anything that required that long to cook. I got pancakes, cheese eggs, & their impossible sausage. The wife ordered French toast. The overall experience was a 6 outta 10 for me only things being the slow cook & the impossible sausage were horrible. read more

Lovely, lovely lunch break while traveling south with our RV. We love Cracker Barrel for many reasons, one of them being so accommodating to RV and big rig travelers. The store was well organized and stocked and we were seated right away. Our waitress - Alexis, was super efficient, friendly and we never felt neglected and our drinks were always refilled. We ordered: the Turkey lunch special, which was served with sweet potato casserole. My husband liked it a lot. I had grilled chicken salad, which was fresh, crispy and delicious and a loaded baked potato. Overall a great lunch break, delicious food, amazing service, reasonable and affordable prices. My wife and I visited today because we had received a gift card. The wait to be seated was short and our server was great. The pickle chips were on the verge of being burnt and the mac and cheese was tasteless. The chicken was fine as were the mashed potatoes. Unfortunately the gift card was 'inactive' and there is no way to check the balance. The number to call on the back of the card was all automated and worthless and the website equally so. I don't get upset by poor food or non working gift cards...I will just never be back. EVER. read more

We left the cracker barrel in South Hill, as they had one server and the wait would be forever. Saw the sign for this one in 20 miles and chose it. We got seated immediately and given utensils and napkins, water and coffee. I ordered old timers, spouse ordered build a breakfast. This location in Henderson, North Carolina is conveniently off of Highway 85. Plenty of parking, lots of rocking chairs outside on the porch for those who are waiting for their table to be ready. The country store is fill so many exciting and tempting shopping selections. You can become hooked if you hang around the candy section too long. The dining area is very clean, spacious, filled with very comfortable furniture. I was very impressed with how tasty my order tasted. The green was seasoned like a pro. They really have skills in cooking country foods. I enjoyed my shrimp dinner with a huge loaded bake potatoes. The two pork chops with gravy was tender with loads of favor. The servers were very friendly but slow in attending to the customers. It's possible they did not have a lot of experience under their belt. BUT I can't wait to go back. Wednesday, October 30, late morning I haven't been in a Cracker Barrel since the late 90s. And only then because I was a guest, and not paying for it. I tend to avoid CBs because all of the kitsch on display is a turnoff. But when I'm hungry, I can ignore the kitsch for an hour or so. And I did. The tacky kitsch is not a factor in my star rating. I parked and wended my way through a dozen or so rocking chairs on the porch, went indoors, wended my way through a sales room of more kitsch, and was then promptly seated. I took about 10 minutes to peruse the menu, and was ready to order: Coffee Large glass of Milk Wild Maine Blueberry Pancakes (Three Buttermilk Pancakes filled with Wild Maine Blueberries and served with our Blueberry Syrup n' butter.) The coffee comes out immediately and is very good. Perhaps 10-15 minutes later the BP and Milk come out. The BP were quite good. If I'm ever again at a CB, I'll probably order them again. Worth noting is that the BP came with their own jar of Blueberry Syrup, packaged as Dickinson's Wild Maine Blueberry Syrup. It appears to be a sort of craft syrup, but looking further, it is merely a Smucker's product with Corn Syrup as the first ingredient. I could only eat about ¾ of my BP, so I asked my server for a box and the check. I left a tip on the table, then went through the kitsch-laden sales room to the cashier. And she said, "We have a lot of nice things on sale...." One could get the idea that they are in the business of selling rocking chairs and tee shirts, with food as a sideline. ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC!!!! We were really looking forward to having an early Thanksgiving dinner at this particular Cracker Barrel. It was a complete and utter disaster from the beginning! The hostess couldn't have been more unwelcoming and sat us all the way over in the back corner. One of the servers finally showed up 10 minutes later to take our order, and it wasn't even busy. We practically had to beg her for silverware. And then there was the meal...fried turkey that was so dry it wasn't even edible. When we complained to the manager, she just laughed it off saying "well I just spoke to some other customers who just loved their turkey". She did take some of the food off the bill, which was pretty much her only saving grace. We just really wanted to pay the check and get out as quickly as possible. It's just not what I remember! Growing up, Cracker Barrel was a staple for my family! Though they're still a neat concept, the service just doesn't seem to be as stellar as it once was, and prices are steep for a standard breakfast! The two eggs, bacon, hash brown casserole (my fav as a kid), and a biscuit runs approximately $9! The eggs were cooked properly, bacon a bit fatty, and the biscuit was undercooked. Our last real stop before our push for NYC (having just left Charlotte NC), was a lunch date with a dear family friend in Henderson. Sadly, as much as I love Cracker Barrel, this one was underwhelming when it came to its food. Very bland, and the sausage gravy left me with gastric upset the rest of the drive home. I ordered breakfast, lunch, and dinner from the Henderson NC location. This is our family's favorite place. We celebrated my mom's 80th Birthday there in August. The syrup I purchased was not in the delivery. You know those little bottles of syrup are never enough. You always want a little extra. the waiting time for the food incredibly long. we waited for approximately one hour minimum for the food and another table go their food before us when they came in after us. once the food was out, the tomatoes weren't fresh, soggy, hot, and had white dust on it. The ham was solid like a rock and all of the food tasted like it had been bathed in salt and smothered in salt. It felt like the only personality there was was salt. The waiter(in a pink collared shirt with curly hair and glasses)was incredibly rude, forcing us to stay seated and wait for the duration. We were told wait would be 15-20 mins we agreed to stay and wait because at other locations the wait isn't actually 20 mins it's usually shorter and we seen table after table leaving. After the 20 mins passed i went to ask if we would be sitting soon and they said it would be another 10 minutes because they were currently sitting anyone. After those 10 min we proceeded to wait another 15 mins for a total of 45 min wait! Had we been told that would be our waiting time we would of never stayed we would of went somewhere else as we had other plans that we were not late to due to the extra time wasted in waiting! Cracker Barrel has consistently good food. A good thing when traveling. My favorite is the slow cooked pot roast.

It is next to a high way and they open at 7am!!! It is ok. We wait. 15 min since the next one was far from our route. The food at 7am took 50 min to get finally to our table!!!!! The breakfast was ok. My half and half was bad and spoiled my coffee another wait to be refill. Waiting for the check another 15 min. The restaurant was clean. The server was friendly and efficient. That's the positive. We were there on a Wednesday afternoon and waited 45 minutes for a table and another 30 minutes for our meal. We came this particular day for an early Thanksgiving dinner( like internet menu and the television both said were available. My friends and I were coming back from a wedding in Roxboro, NC and we had decided to stop at the first Cracker Barrel we saw. We ended up pulling into Henderson around 11:45 a.m. on a Sunday. My first thought was, "Ugh, no way we get a seat with the church crowd rolling in." I'm not sure if there is just no Sunday rush here like other locations but we were able to get our party of 5 seated immediately upon walking in with the place still looking as busy as a normal Cracker Barrel. Service was O.K. The waitress was nice enough but a little slow when it came to delivering drinks. They also ran out of small plates for biscuits so we had to use our napkins to set our bread on when we weren't eating them. Not a huge deal, obviously. I got the chicken fried chicken for my main course. It comes topped with sawmill gravy and 3 sides. The rice pilaf was pretty pedestrian but the mac and cheese and hashbrown casserole were really well done. The chicken fried chicken was a little overcooked but still had its merits with the crispy outside and pretty solid flavor. If you're ever in the area I wouldn't hesitate one bit to stop in if you're feeling some old country food. read more

Ok, I personally love Cracker Barrel. My friends and I were here because of a wedding that we came from NY for. They were practicing everyone wearing masks and social distancing, check check. We placed our to go meals, then walked around the store as we waited for them, about 20 minutes. Once we got them, the bags were sealed, check. When we got back to our hotel room to eat, my steamed catfish was well seasoned, the baby carrots were tender and sweet, my baked sweet potato was just ok. My girls meals on the other hand were not the case...they both ordered the steamed haddock, which was soggy, one was missing her turnip greens, which was on the receipt, there wasn't enough dressing for the salad, and they just were not satisfied with their meal. read more

Since the pandemic, we have made a lot of take out orders. The phone app was great while it worked, but it hasn't worked in several weeks. Our last app order was placed but when I arrived to pick it up, it wasn't in the system. So, I had to wait 30 minutes while they made it. Today I phoned in our take out order. I was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. When I arrived to pick it up, it wasn't in the system. The guy who took the order wrote it down but didn't enter it in the system. On jan 2nd 2021 my husband and i took my mom out to supper. The host caleb was rude and obnoxious. We asked for a table for 3 he said go ahead and seat um. The younger boy with him proceded to ahow my husband to a table and a random couple walked up behind us and proceded to take the table. Caleb alloed it so when i myself asked is there a table for us yet he proceded to ask "yeah u even ready yet?". I said yes he scoffed and proceded to our table and therw themenus on the table and walked off. He never smiled never said hi thank you nothing. Just rude waitress was perfect.
