CB for me is a hit and a miss. The last 3 times I ate at CB was in Chesapeake and they kept giving me egg shells in my breakfast. I kept thinking it was an anomaly but after the 3rd visit, that was it for me. After our move to NC I figured that I would give them another shot. And while some of the food was good, the service was not. 2 servers came to take our drink order and then the server who returned to take our breakfast order was at the wrong table, so we had to wait for them to figure out who was to ne taking care of us. I need to start out by saying they were not busy as we were there on a Monday at 1030, so between 2 meal times. I reqiested that the server put us in a quiet spot, away from others as I had a migraine. Initially she did but then 10 minutes after our being seated, she sits a family with children, toddlers, behind me. Directly behind me. The restaurant was not the least bit busy that the same hostess I asked to sit us away from everyone else wouldn't have remembered my request to he away from others. I ordered the baked French toast with strawberries, sausage patties and a side of hashbrown casserole. My breakfast arrived with bacon, which I gave to my husband. The casserole was lukewarm & when our server returned with my sausage patties, Initially I thought they looked good but I was in for a let down because they were barely warm and burnt on the bottom (both patties were so burnt that my fork couldn't even go through the patty to separate and eat). At that point, I just gave up on the sausage. I will say the French toast was good but not good enough to forgive the other misses. So, it would seem CB goes back on the list of places to avoid. read more

Was in the mood for shrimp & grits this morning and didn't feel like cooking again so I searched on door dash to see if there were any decent options in Jacksonville (none). Found Cracker Barrel on there that had a Monday special for a shrimp & grits. Was going to order, but I haven't been to a cracker barrel in over 10 years so my fiance and I decided to make it a late breakfast/brunch date. Went in and asked for the Monday special shrimp and grits and everyone looked at me sideways. It wasn't even listed on both menus as an option at all. I don't recall every liking their food growing up, so I kindly just told the server that was unfortunate because that was what I was looking forward to (thinking they obviously had it, since you can order it on DD). She told me to hold on, went to kitchen, came back after 5 min and said "we have one left". I have worked in the service industry my whole life so we all know what that means. They made me a shrimp and grit anyways even though it was nothing like advertised on DD. But that was still nice of them anyways so 3 stars for that because of customer service! In the end, I wished I would have just cooked it at home instead of being lazy haha. End of story, don't go to a restaurant ever expecting to be able to order something they are advertising to purchase on door dash. Today I had one of my worst experiences at Cracker Barrel, my favorite pancake restaurant. Our server forgot to put in my order, and it took over 25 minutes for food to arrive. The appetizer we ordered wasn't available due to a menu change, but no one told us until much later. My son didn't get a refill until I asked for one to go, and we were given three orders of fried apples that no one ordered. To make matters worse, I noticed a dying water bug, which the server stepped on and left behind--extremely unsanitary and nauseating. My husband's burger was also disappointing. The only positive part of the visit was when my husband paid for an elderly couple's meal, which happened to be the husband's birthday. That was understandable as our party size was big, however when we got our table it was for the wrong amount of seats/space. Service was poor and slow. Over the years, I've learned that sometimes it's better to leave a review like this than to make a scene, even though that's honestly what I wanted to do. I ordered a late breakfast for my family to go, paid through the app, and even left a tip. I went inside and waited in the to-go order line. It was busy, which I understood. There was one gentleman in front of me. A staff member briefly stepped away from another customer, asked him his name, told him his order wasn't ready yet, and then went back to helping the previous customer. Another employee appeared to be resolving an issue with a different guest. Once he finished, I politely asked if I could grab my order since I saw it sitting on the shelf and confirmed that I had already paid. He said yes. As I was checking the bag to make sure everything was there, the to-go worker (who I assume handled those orders) spoke to me rudely and asked what I was doing. I explained, and she then shoved my drinks toward me and immediately turned to help the customer behind me, very politely, while I still needed assistance. I was missing plasticware, syrup, and butter. When I asked for them, she gave them to me rudely. I stayed polite, smiled, and left. We always stop here at least once a year when visiting relatives in the area. This one is located in a large strip mall right on the main drag in Jacksonville. There seems to be a frequent turnaround in staff. Very friendly but can be inexperienced at times. The food ( breakfast, lunch, or dinner) is Southern comfort food. Biscuits & gravy, grits to fried chicken, dumplings, fried steak. Plenty of sides to choose. Something for everyone of all ages. And a great place when on a budget. But what pushes mediocre \ good food to a 4 Star review is the Country Store. A great idea for pre- or post- dinner. Their shop has a little but of everything for all ages. Great gift ideas. Toys to toiletries. Candies & soda to decorations. Clothes to knick-knacks. A little bit of everything. I recommend the chain & it's concept with economical pricing. I've only been to tow of them in NC. But this is my frequent "goto" and I recommend it. read more

I love CB and I hate to leave a one star review ,but somebody needs to rescue this location. I'm guessing either a new store manager or possibly a new area manager ( bcuz looking at the negative reviews-there's a lot of them / mostly about food quality and service attitudes - leads me to believe this is a lack of competent management ) needs to be looked into. We spent almost $40 for breakfast for two people and all of our food was not up to CB standards. We're one of the families that has been going to CB for decades...but we're gonna have to rethink our loyalty to CB. Scrambled eggs with cheese should actually be scrambled eggs --with cheese. Preferably warm to hot ...not greasy , room temp to cold. With a few globs of almost but not quite melted cheese. Hash browns should be warm and cooked through. Bacon almost raw. Tiny tiny piece of ham also room temp ,with a nice piece of gristle running through it. Pancakes were decent but had to ask for more syrup ( one small bottle not cutting it guys ) 3 times. Finally gave up. Left most of our food and said never again. So ..until I see a " open under new management " sign out front ,we will not be returning. Do yourself a favor and avoid this CB. All it will do is aggravate you. Go to bojangles instead. read more

My wife and I visited the Jacksonville, NC store today for breakfast. We spent an hour and 20 minutes waiting for a very simple breakfast. The server was pleasant, and even acknowledged the lengthy wait assuring us that the manager was aware and that our food would be out in the next 3-4 minutes. 20 minutes later lukewarm pancakes appeared (not warm enough for butter to melt on). The manager never appeared to offer so much as an apology. At the check out we requested to speak to the manager so we could relay our feedback regarding the visit. We were advised that he as simply too busy - and the cashier said she could pass along the message. This was after the other cashier said "oh no - another complaint!". When I asked for the general manager or district manager name and contact number so I could follow up, the employees indicated they were new and didn't know their names - other than possibly a first name of "Ed" as the purported district manager. But they didn't know how to contact him. God forbid there is ever an emergency in this store. It could burn down and no one in senior leadership would even know. Terrible that the local managers don't even have enough interest to talk to patrons. Sad - just a sad excuse for a restaurant. If you have a choice, a gas station would provide a better dining experience. read more

Last night in town my son wanted to try CB. I'm like ok (I had it plenty of times in California) Sat down waited 10 minutes to even get acknowledged. Managers and my waitress was chatting away in the server walk way, Took forever to get my drink, Food took forever i'm like did she had to go catch the catfish. Food came out luke warm. ohhh and my mac and cheese came 10 minutes after my food and honey it was sooooo watery i didn't even eat it. Our waitress was Trish. Cracker Barrel was on my must-visit list on our recent trip to North Carolina. We don't have them here in WA, and rumor has it they're the place to see (and be seen) for a classic southern food chain experience. I was not disappointed! The most shocking thing to me about Cracker Barrel was that it's not JUST a restaurant. They have quite possibly the most well-stocked gift shop in the history of eateries. In fact, after our meal, we spent at least an hour perusing the shelves here. But I digress. We were seated quickly and immediately ordered up some sweet teas. Because, when in Rome! The teas were sweet, cold, and delicious. Soon our food arrived. We ordered everything from chicken fried steak to mac 'n cheese to collard greens. Folks, this food wasn't exactly healthy but it was DELISH. And the portions were huge (with super fair pricing). My only regret is I couldn't finish it all. Also, one word: GRAVY. After the meal we descended upon the gift shop, where you can buy everything from souvenirs to boutique clothing to candles. It was pre-Christmas season during our visit, and their selection of holiday decorations was more than tempting. By the time we left, I did have a pretty mean headache from all the assorted candle scents - it was VERY strong. If you're prone to scent headaches, bring Advil! read more

Brought my friends here after the movie. They had only been here once and that was back when it first opened. Why? They said because they did not have alcohol. Well the do now! So they tried kind of strawberry drink. Said it was okay. My friend had the meatloaf dinner and said it was very good. I had a salad. Let me say it is the best deal. The side salad is huge and only $5. That's about all I can eat when you add a biscuit. And the biscuits are really good esp. with honey. Our waitress was Leslie and she did a good job. I was contemplating writing about my experience at the Cracker Barrel in Jacksonville, North Carolina. I visited the restaurant after an appointment, but I neglected to check my bag because I was in a hurry to return home. Upon my arrival, I discovered that my order was incomplete and lacked any food items, even though I had my own. Consequently, I decided to purchase breakfast and lunch, but unfortunately, they were served without syrup or ketchup. Despite living near a Cracker Barrel, I could have easily stopped at a nearby restaurant that offered these items, which I regret not doing. I attempted to contact the restaurant again, and the manager assured me that she would send me a gift card as compensation. However, I was disappointed to learn that she had lied to me. As someone who values honesty, I was deeply disappointed by this experience. I am at a loss for what to do next and would greatly appreciate your advice. read more

One star, because some of the food was ok. Terrible service. Seems like Cracker Barrel is following the woke brigade, with (only) DEI hires. Waiter had a bad attitude, on top of being clueless. I haven't been to this place in a few years. I went today for breakfast. The atmosphere is comfortable and the place was decently clean. There was a lot of staff and all seemed to stay busy and do a good job. Our order was taken with a smile and a good laugh by Norma. Our food came out hot and tasted great. The price was great also. The place has gone down hill found plastic tape in my casserole. The manager confirmed that was the tape they mark their ingredients with and cook must have not seen it. I chewed it pretty well before deciding that it wasn't edible. I guess since I didn't act particularly offended the manger didn't offer any reparations for the plastic cooked into my meal and my subsequent experience. So full price I was charged. That's okay though, I just didn't tip the waitress and my wife decided to never patronize her favorite restaurant any longer. A real shame because we live about a mile from the place. My friends came in to visit town and they are huge breakfast people. I'm not much of a breakfast person, so we chose to come here because Cracker Barrel allows us to order either breakfast or lunch! YAAAAY! It was a Saturday morning, around 10:30'ish. Parking lot was a little full, but we were able to find parking right away. For a table of 3, it took about 5mins to get a table. So no long wait! We were sat and greeted immediately by our waitress. She was so kind and amazing. When I started to look at the menu, the first thing I saw was the Southern Fried Chicken. It looks so delicious and my eyes were dead set on it. So that's what I ordered! Southern Fried Chicken with a side of Green Beans and Hashbrown Casserole. The fried chicken came with honey to drizzle over the chicken and I asked for hot sauce on the side. First bite -- CRUNCHY AND JUICY!! The batter was seasoned and it was delicious! The touch of honey was great!! The hot sauce was a nice kick. It's a big portion! So it felt like two meals (took the other half home). I was amazed on how much flavor the chicken had. I was happy to order it! The green beans weren't seasoned, so I wouldn't get it unless I add salt. The hashbrown casserole is so good!!! I will definitely come back for this!! read more

Southern style country cooking gone franchise. I really like doing brunch at this place. They portions are HUGE and the prices are fair, and most importantly the food is good along with the service. I'm a big fan of the country boy breakfast which is a HUGE portion. It's steak and eggs (to your liking) mine is always scrambled, apple sauce with sliced apples, grits, and some other stuff I can't remember probably because I can't seem to ever finish it all. Ohhh yeah biscuits! There are other good things on the menu the friends and family tend to get but I go for the same everything and I am more the happy with it! read more
