We should all know this but often people reflect back to us how we treat them. I was reluctant to go in here because of the reviews with people complaining about the staff. However, I have to wonder if maybe with a bit more effort at being kind and polite most people would find that the staff most of the time will be kind in return. I have traveled a lot for work and I tend to switch to cultural habits from the people from each area. A little bow when saying thank you, a little humility, and kindness go very far. When the Mom handed me a menu I looked her in the eyes and took it with both hands showing respect. She caught it and appreciated it. I tend to treat people well, engage with them, listen, and show genuine interest and that often makes all the difference. Yes, this is a family business. Yes, a young girl was working the front counter and she was very good at it. I asked a few questions while I was waiting and let her know this was our first time. Because we had a large order I could not carry it all by myself. She offered to help carry it out and I thanked her as anyone should. I noticed her mom was paying attention standing just behind the wall and when she could see that I was treating her daughter well she came out and offered to help and thank me for coming in. I asked for some extra napkins and mentioned we had just moved in. She quickly got me napkins, tossed in extra fortune cookies, and offered free drinks too! I thanked her again and asked if I could take a picture of the flames, her daughter repeated it in their native language, and instead of saying know she asked the cook to stand back and let me take a picture (I did not ask why I wanted it). I told her I'm a photographer (which I am). And then I encouraged the cook to come back into the picture. Ok, that was a lot, so how about the food? We had the egg drop wonton soup. Typical soup, very good wontons. We ordered the Pu Pu Platter to get a sample of a few things. She gave us two orders! My wife liked the shrimp and fried crab (I'm not a fan of most fried foods). But I liked the wing, the beef stick and the spare rib. All worth getting again. We would not order the crab Rangoon again, it was overcooked and hard inside. The fried rice was moist and tasty but could use a pinch more salt. Some have complained the vegetable pieces were too big and not soft, I think that's a matter of taste. I like my vegetable firm, not mushy. They were correctly cooked for us and you could still taste the vegetables for what they are. We had chicken egg foo young and I had better but this was still very good. We would order it again too. Last, I tend to not like sweet and sour dishes but my wife does. She ordered a sweet battered beef in a dark sweet sauce. It was not my favorite, but tasted similar to other places. She liked it. Will we be back? Yes. Recognize that the family that owns the restaurant is authentic and they may have a bit different cultural habits. Treat them nice, be polite and respectful, and in return, they will be kind and generous with you. read more

Needed some take out and gave this place a try. So glad we did, we will definitely become regulars. From the sweet young lady at the cash register, to the food being hot and ready as promised, their service is great. And our food was outstanding. I have eaten here many times and yes, many of your complaints on the reviews are true, they many times seem rude, young child waits on you, they seem rushed and unfriendly. You need to remember this is not being rude or disrespectful, it's their heritage from their country. So, they're also teaching the child work habits and working on customer service meeting with the rude customers. I enjoy their food and seeing the child or lady that welcomes me when I get to the drive through, and they have very helpful, and this is welcomed since I am handicapped and unable to walk. Ok so this is the first Chinese joint we tried since we moved to NC. It's the only Chinese restaurant in Richlands and just a mile away from our house. The food is mediocre, the lady was very nice. The restaurant it's self was pretty small and not too clean. I'm glad we decided to take it to go because there was no way I could eat there. It's cool because you can call in an order and pick up at a window with out having to get out your car. I got their house special fried rice, fried chicken wings, beef broccoli and sweet and sour pork. My husband got some orange chicken and chicken tso he liked his. It's just Chinese take out. Nothing fancy or special. We ate here once and probably won't eat here again, we try to support as local as possible, but it is difficult when the food isn't that good. The service was also sub par, the gentleman at the pickup window was very short and he will surely snatch your payment from your hand, but will close the window on you if you try to talk to him. read more

We went here for the first and last time today. We got a seafood mix, chicken lo mein, and crab rangoon. The seafood had only a few bay scallops that were thawed and bland. The vegetables were cut with a hacksaw and large. There was no care taken to make a nice presentation or to ensure reasonable cuts to eat. The other seafood was some shrimp which was quite good and some initation crab. The crab ended up as dog food as it was gummy and with no semblance of flavor. Finally, the sauce was an ill-flavored water. The lo mein was passable and the chicken was cooked well. The sauce was nothing more than some soy sauce. The crab rangoon looked like each were two triangles of won ton fried in something that made them turn yellow. There was no hint of saffron or turmeric, so it was a mystery how it turned yellow. In any event, the crust was not crisp but chewy-- in a bad way. The filling was minimal, but the 1/2 teaspoon bite was good with a definite taste of crab. The drive up was a taste of rude behavior, including the snatching of the payment and a thrusting of the food at me. read more

This restaurant used to have the best Chinese food in the area but their quality or seasonings have been amiss for the past few years. All of the fried foods taste the same, like they have been fried in old grease which seems to not agree with my tummy anymore. The egg drop soup is decent tho. I'm pretty sure this is a family owned and operated business and I come here pretty often to get mei fun and general tso's chicken for my fiancé and I. Today when I came in to get my food I saw them butchering fresh meat in the back. They are always nice to me and the food is always great and fresh tasting, it never tastes old or frozen. Plus they're really fast. I recommend it over any other place around simply bc they always have consistent quality and I haven't been disappointed any of the multiple times I've been here. Modest looking Chinese restaurant - take-out. Friendly and efficient staff. Prompt service. Fairly typical American Chinese cuisine includes Kung Pao, Sesame and General Tso dishes, also more authentic Szechuan and Hunan dishes. I like curry and this restaurant has the best Chinese style chicken curry in the entire Jacksonville-Richlands area. The Szechuan chicken is very good too. Standard pork fried rice is very good and even egg fried rice which is not on the menu, but they will make, is excellent. Vegetable Lo-Mein is excellent. I left the UK to live in the states in 2002, at the age of 42. I had eaten Chinese food extensively in the UK and Ireland and was disappointed when I came to America to find Chinese food was not as good, lacking flavour and too sweet. It's as if restaurants are afraid to use the amount of spices that I had been used to. By spicy I don't mean hot, I mean contains a lot of spices, hence flavour. Also, pancake, egg and spring rolls do not contain bean sprouts - why? In fact, in too many restaurants bean sprouts are not to be found in any of the food. Duck also appears to be a forgotten Chinese meat in too many restaurants. Given the restrictions that the US public has managed to incur on the flavour of Chinese food, I can say that Main Moon does a pretty good job at trying to remain authentic. An average rating for an average restaurant. The food is exactly what you could get at pretty much any other Chinese restaurant. The inside is tiny, so I would recommend getting take out instead. They aren't super friendly and don't speak English particularly well, so there can be a bit of a language barrier at times. The food is greasy and low quality. I truly give this place no stars. Customer service was horrible and slow. The food was so salty that I was unable to eat it, and I there's no filling in the crab ragoons. I checked the ragoons before I left which I'm glad I did. I complained politely and explained why I was unhappy them. The guy gave me a huge attitude to where I finally said just give me my money back for the ragoons. He reluctantly did while rolling his eyes and slamming things around. We love this restaurant! We have tried a lot of different Chinese restaurants lately, and this is the best Chinese food we've had in a long time. The restaurant looks very clean (which consists of just a few tables--we get take-out), and you can see the kitchen, which is nice. We especially like the shrimp fried rice, chicken with broccoli, and egg foo young. We definitely recommend this place! read more

it was the worse first off i spent what alot what could be considered a hole weeks pay on food from the main moon in richlands nc last night and it was so bad where i dont know how they are even still open cause there where so many different problems from not enough seasoning using the wrong cut of beef cutting said beef against the grain where its tough and chewy and then you make it with 5% meat and the rest vegetabele's just not the right balance between meat and veg its just a way to get over to where you dont have to put more meat on the plate if you load the plat with veg you save money but all in all will not ever eat there again but the fried rice was ok read more
