My friend and i went in after the dinner rush. Our waiter came up in an absolutely filthy apron. As a professional chef, that is an a absolute no-no. Not a good way to start our dining experience. I ordered the country fried steak dinner, and she ordered the hamburger steak dinner. Her meal arrived with the most meager little scraps of burnt onions on top. Not piled high with fried onions as described in the menu. Her steak was an oval shaped very thin obviously frozen piece of meat. Flavorless, as it didn't even have gravy. My meal had much more promise from the start. Unfortunately, my corn muffins were dry and tasteless, other than being somewhat sweet. My steak gravy was good, but I swear the steak was a smaller piece than I remember getting before. My last complaint? The ridiculously sweet concoction they call a fruit tea. It tasted more like what i suspect the sweet syrup used in liquor drinks tastes like, although as I don't drink I dont really know. All in all, my friend and i do not have any interest in going back and experiencing anything like this again. read more

An absolutely delectable meal! Ordered three buttermilk pancakes and they were some of the best I've ever had! Came with two eggs and two sausage patties and they were at the quality to be expected. Waiter was very nice and pleasant as well! Was said to be a 30 minute wait to get in but was really around 20. I've been here twice before and the food was alright. I came here with My family, and things were good for a moment. I realized no one came to take our order..to even ask what we wanted to drink. Good Cracker Barrel Food Our large (40+ people) group was able to eat in the Cracker Barrel across from our hotel recently and it was quite welcomed since we had been on the road all day. They were having their new "Cracker Barrel" sign put up out front, so they had not had much business the day we ate there. Everyone seemed to enjoy their dinner. I especially enjoyed my Grilled Pork Chops - they were quite moist and tender. The corn and the hashbrown casserole rounded out my good meal. If you've eaten at Cracker Barrel, then you know how good their food is. If you have not, this location had good service as well as good food. Second time we were sat in a corner at a make shift table and waited awhile for our food, thinking we were just forgot. Its a very decorative restaurant that revolves around a southern theme (haystacks, rocking chair, kerosene lamp, etc). Service was good and servers were very kind. I ordered the BBQ pork and sweet tea. She says sweet tea from the south is the real deal compared to the westcoast, whatever...hardly tasted any difference. The BBQ pork was good and so was the cornbread I kept eating off her plate. The restaurant also had a decent size souvenir shop. Plenty of items you can buy and take back home to your Grandma since its the type of thing they seem they would enjoy. I wish the waitress would have said, "y'all come back nah, ya hear". I work in wireless telephone and I come to the Atlanta area about 6 times a year for business. I really appreciate being able to come here and get hearty, well prepared food, made by people who actually care because we are just not finding this kind of stuff up north. I love the easy parking. There are never lines to the bathroom. The restaurant is as clean as a dentist's office and the staff is obedient and well mannered. Sometimes it gets busy but that never seems to be an excuse to frown or just shove the food at you or be lazy about cleaning up between customers. I was in Georgia for my vacation & had the pleasure of eating @ Cracker Barrel. They don't have these in California and it's a shame! I prefer breakfast over dinner @ Cracker Barrel tho. I enjoy this restaurant chain and you really get a Southern feel. This restaurant has an old country store portion to buy some goodies and then a restaurant with wooden table and chairs looking very classic. Service was nice here and most people are drinking the Sweet Tea for that authentic experience. You have a lot of southern options such as Beef Fried Steak, Chicken and Dumplings, Fried Chicken, and lots of sides to choose from like mash potatoes, corn, green beans, fried okra, cornbread, biscuits, etc. Portions are big and taste is pretty good. Meals are pretty cheap $10-$15. You are going to get a satisfied feeling in terms of amount and taste of food and it's a fun environment to check out. They even have a "front porch" area to sit on rocking chairs and relax like you're at home in the South. My family and I went here tonight. I ordered the ribeye steak cooked medium-rare. It took a while to get to us but it was understandable considering they were pretty busy. When I got the steak, it was very well done. It was hard to cut and chew. I sent it back and it took 15 minutes for me to get a new one. When the second steak got to my table, it was raw on the inside. The outside was tan with no sear on it. The fat wasn't even rendered, it was still white. I can eat a rare steak but it was raw on the inside and VERY bloody. Our waitress was very kind about it and I hope she didn't think we blamed her. It took far too long the second time for me to ask for a third or for that one to be cooked more. They removed it from the bill but I'm honestly going to be hungry again in 2 hours. read more

The service was good except the pinto beans were rancid and the cabbage was very old as well. The cabbage had a horrible aftertaste. I also reached over to taste my husband's beans as we were finishing up and they were tart like they had vinegar in them they were so old . They had gone bad. I might not bring this up , except this is the second Cracker Barrel restaurant I have had the same issue with. It was one of the reasons I did not order them although I love pinto beans. The one in Madison Georgia has done the same thing and I guess they must cook them and leave them for days on the stove or something, but it is not uncommon to get TOO OLD pinto beans at A Cracker Barrel. No excuse for this! Throw your food out when it's too old to serve. Beans are cheap! The ham that was in the cabbage needed to have gone a long time ago as well . it Gave me a horrible taste in my mouth as I burped it the rest of the pm. While they did offer to get us something else to eat, we we're finished eating by the time I discovered what was going on. I told the checkout person as well as we were leaving and they asked if I want to speak to the manager and I said no I had already told my waiiter, but maybe I should have. I did thanks somebody should've cut the bill once I realize that the cabbage was also making me sick with a nasty aftertaste. The blackened catfish was mushy as well (old)! Cracker Barrel is a favorite spot to stop. Today we had Amber, a very good server. The food took a drop because we ask for fresh onion. It was limp! I asked for fresh cut onion and explained the situation to our server. She rushed right back with another plate of limp but cold onion slices. I gave up but she came back and asked if that onion was ok. I explained that it is never ok to precut and save onion as it does not keep after about half an hour. We were through eating when the Manager came by, bringing, yet a third plate of limp, old but cold, onion. He had never heard of it not being ok to precuts day refrigerate onion even a day ahead. Generally when we travel as a family Cracker Barrel is a safe bet for a place to eat. We stopped into this location and was quite disappointed. Caleb our server took our order without writing it down. Had to come back and ask about the order. We asked for a plate of biscuits with apple butter. Biscuits came no apple butter. 15min later he visited the table beside us and I asked again and he brought it. We waited on our food for at least half hour if not 45min l. When it came both adult meals were shorted an egg. Again it took 10-15min for Caleb to come back around to find this out. They did bring 1 replacement egg. At the same time the table beside us talking they are about to get up and walk out of their food wasn't there in the next 5min or so. All in all it wasn't a great experience that lasted about 2 hours. Generally good experience at Cracker Barrel however here. YMMV. read more

I asked for dumplings, salad, and carrots. My companion asked for campfire chicken. Waitress came back and said no dumplings, no campfire chicken , no dumplings and no veggies. I went with the hamburger steak, plus gravy, onions, and mushrooms. I enjoyed it, recognizing it's certainly not a meal fit for royalty. For sides, I chose the fried okra, apples, and grits. I think the grits could have used a bit more flavor. The okra was right out of the frialator, and was very good. When most other restaurants were closed, this did the job. After we were seated our waiter was no where to be seen. 5 mins later she comes out to the table right beside ours ask those people how they were doing and turns and walks off. she then comes back and asks what we want to drink and leaves. 5 mins later she comes back with drinks 2 adults 3 kids with tops on them. puts them down and turns and walks off, we had to call her back to get straws. she throws them down on the tables with an attitude and walks off. Unfortunately, this visit, I ordered the shrimp platter and my turnip greens were cold AND dry, hush puppies were burnt, fried okra was hard and unseasoned, it was dreadfully cold (I was not the only customer to feel this way either.), our server looked like she did NOT want to serve us, unless it was convenient for her, and the music was really loud.
