    Brunch

Disappointed Easter brunch I took my parents to. We had a 2:30pm reservation and the food was already picked over. They only replenished the chicken it was very sad that we didn't the rest the menu option and had to pay full price. Very laughable I delayed writing a review due to my disappointment of the brunch.

Loom weaves a tapestry of southern dishes with elevated flavor and fresh ingredients into what the chef calls "Southern Revival!"  Located in the Hotel Forty Five downstairs, Loom is bright, light, and fresh to match the freshness of their food, and has a large loom mural on the wall that draws the eye. As for our favorite dish, that is the King Salmon. The dish is a must in Macon! A well-seasoned, cooked perfectly salmon filet with an amazing tangy and sweet bourbon glaze that will make you want to lock the plate. It sits on top of creamy jasmine rice that mixes with the bourbon glaze harmoniously! Then paired with crunchy seasoned carrots!   For our appetizers we got Crispy Cauliflower, Bread Service, Burrata, and Fried Green Tomatoes. First, the Crispy Cauliflower is tender, yet crispy, earthy red pepper emulsion and earthy tart capers all drizzled in arugula oil. The next appetizer is Burrata. It is cool and creamy cheese paired with sweet apple gastric and nutty crushed pistachio. A flavor explosion of sweet, nutty, creamy! On the side we got the bread service, which is amazing corn bread. It is warm and buttery, sweet and savory. Finally, the fried green tomatoes are super crunchy outside and tangy, tender tomatoes, creamy and sharp pimento cheese then finished off with tangy tomato chutney to round out all the flavors.   We also got another entree with the King Salmon, the Smoked Pork Chop. It is tender, charred and well-seasoned topped with a sweet red relish on a bed of funky blue cheese grits and spicy collards. We got all of this with a bottle of champagne for national wine day. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu and waited on us hand and foot.

    Carbonara

As I sit in my apartment with my stomach growling, the first dish that popped into my mind that I started heavily craving was pasta carbonara. I searched my phone to remember the hotel restaurant that I had my first and only carbonara ever at. Enter: Loom at Hotel Forty Five. The ambiance is elegant yet casual. The service was good. If I can remember, our food arrived promptly and we were treated well by our server. I'm thinking back to January here, so my apologies for my lack of in-depth information! And that pasta... the carbonara is amazing. The pork belly was crispy and flavorful. The sauce was creamy and decadent. The noodles were perfect. I ate every single bite of it. Too bad Loom is all the way out in Macon, or I'd be coming every month. While the hotel parking situation is inconvenient, it would be worth it to have this dish again. Back to daydreaming...

Stopped in Macon for a night on our way to ATL and opted to dine in at our hotel. We ordered a few apps, and two entrees, plus the mac and cheese for our daughter off the kids menu. Everything was ok, but the Mac and cheese was fantastic. If ever I went back, I would be ordering that. It tasted like truffles and high end cheese.

In town for the weekend, DH and I dined at Loom. DH made the selection based on the outstanding reviews from other diners. As I am currently disabled, DH dropped me off to park, although there is valet parking only around the restaurant entrance. The valet was kind enough to hold open the restaurant door as we traded stories about our war wounds. The restaurant interior was small, intimate and well appointed. They must have been proud of the air conditioning because it was featured heavily in the freezing space. I loved the light fixtures and modernist decor throughout. Although the beverage selection was considerable, I couldn't have a drink with my prescribed medication and DH abstained in solidarity. To start, we ordered the Napoleon Fried Green Tomatoes to share. This dish was an absolute taste sensation. The breading was crunchy, the tomatoes were tart and the goat cheese was smoky and the tomato relish was fresh and crunchy. It was ideal to wake the tastebuds and a larger serving would make a great entree. For entrees, I ordered the ribeye medium and DH had his steak burger medium well. He said it was cooked as ordered and very tasty, albeit a bit salty. My steak arrived rare and cold enough that the herbed butter atop it never softened or melted. In the interest of time (we were attending a concert downtown) I packaged it to go to cook when we got home. The waitstaff and hosts were attentive and accommodating. If it weren't so far away, I'd say we'll be back for a 'do over', but that's unlikely. I certainly hope your dinner is satisfactory though.

We were staying in the attached historic hotel so why go further when this fun spot is there? The food is absolutely delicious, the service was excellent and we combined our own wine (corkage fee apples) with a bottle from their reasonably priced list. The Georgia Shrimp and Stone Ground Grit Cake was dynamite! My filet was cooked perfectly and served over creamy grits. The Pork Belly Carbonara was outstanding, and needs to be air mailed to us weekly! The space is warm and bright, with a decent size bar at which one can also dine, as well as a large outdoor patio. We loved our meal and the experience! Bravo! Cheers!

Made reservations to have lunch after my sister's graduation. Restaurant is beautiful and chic. Service was great (even though very short staffed). We were also in. I rush and patient. Overall, the food, service, and ambiance was worth the visit. My sister works walking distance and was amazed she had never heard of the place or been. I highly recommend visiting (& I don't live here and love to find spots to try that would make me want to return when I visit). Definitely get the fried green tomatoes! They were sooooo good!

Went here for breakfast/brunch on Easter. They had a special menu, which was nice, but I opted for French toast on the regular menu. Delicious! My friend got their special crab omelette and it came with enough potatoes for her to share. We also got some burrata for the table. Came with arugula and a couple crostini. Could have used some more crostini but it was good overall. Good service. Nice spot.

Nice ambiance, thoughtful menu, delightful server... I ordered 3 apps to eat as a meal- visiting GA, I figured fried green tomatoes and a burrata dish with peaches made sense. The ahi tuna, not so much- but, live and learn.

it was a slow night and Charles was the perfect gentleman and engaging server. The Brunswick stew was amazing and so was the cornbread. The wine list was great and the bottle was a joy.

We stayed at the hotel and got breakfast for the convenience. Delicious brunch, service was kind but slow. I think our server was in training.

Smoked pork chop with corn blue cheese grits

Started off a little shaky.... Located across the street from Macon City Auditorium and I was there for a concert as were many patrons. I walked in solo so decided to sit at bar. It was clear they were understaffed. I almost walked out, but I decided to stick around and give it a chance because the menus looked very interesting and it was the best option and super close and convenient to the auditorium itself. I got a drink called the Bramlett. It was tasty not as sweet as I expected, but still good because I don't need my drinks super sweet anyways, just strong lol which it was. I was torn between the carbonara and the pork chop and I decided to go with pork chop with the blue cheese corn grits. The grits were really the deciding factor for me. The pork chop entrée took a little long and they claimed it was because it was so large so they wanted to make sure it was cooked all the way through. well the bad part about that is they overcook the pork chop, but it was still tasty, and I could tell that if I were to order it again, I would enjoy it. The grits, however, were amazing. Literally some of the best I had ever tasted and I was glad that I went with this option. There was also a red pepper chutney on top with greens which were the perfect finishing touch. I was glad I waited it out. The service improved and hey that's really the nature of business these days. I finished with a cranberry vodka and it was nicely made. Kinda hard to get that wrong lol. It's a shame it's so far bc I'd loved to come back and try that carbonara and even get the smoke pork chop again. I won't hesitate to see a show in Macon anymore as this serves as a nice treat. Oh! And apparently there's a rooftop bar! Which ima sucker for.

Oh my!! Stumbled across Loom this morning after church for a phenomenal meal! We've been to Loom for dinner numerous times and always had a great dinner, but this mornings brunch... I had to review! Stellar service, bottomless mimosas ( not pre-mixed), menu with comfort classics with a southern/ eclectic mix. All fresh ingredients. I love the way they make the dishes uniquely their own. The ambience is fresh and airy and clean. Great place to start a casual Sunday Funday..
