It's a classic meat and three or in this case a meat and two. All southern classics that taste like home! The food is good and it's very family friendly! (The chicken tenders are always a good go to when nothing else sounds good in the moment.) All choices are a good choice! All sides are great! They also have great dessert! Service is fast. The ambiance is casual. I'm pretty sure there haven't been any upgrades to the interior in decades, but it honestly makes it feel so homey. Friendly staff, down home country style atmosphere, southern food. We were traveling through town to Atlanta and I was looking for some good ole southern cooking. Unfortunately, the butter beans were canned beans warmed up. The mac n cheese was a miss for my 13 year old who couldn't even finish it. The okra was fabulous and I didn't mind the tomato gravy but it would be good to know that is how they serve it for visitors. I'm pretty sure the mashed potatoes were boxed/powder potatoes. Unfortunately, all the way through dessert it was less stellar than we expected and had hoped for. read more

First turn off when walking in the door was the smell. The building smelled as though it was built back in the '50s when people could still smoke inside but a quick google search said it was built in the '90s. It needs a serious upgrade. Dust around the vents, dirty carpet and a white wash old paint and decor. Now, before writing this, I did look up on some other sites what people had to say about this place. They said it's great for suburban church families and groups looking for a homecooked meal. Nothing about this food tasted homecooked. I tried the vegetable beef soup. There was virtually no beef. And what little beef that was in there was grey. It all somewhat reminded me of nursing home food to be honest. read more

We stopped in for carry outs after church last Sunday. The restaurant was busy as usual, but the wait time was not bad at all. I had the pleasure of meeting and having a great conversation with a gentleman who suggested that I place orders for larger portions as he does for his church. Excellent suggestion. I miss good ol country cookin. The menu changes daily. You get a choice from a couple of meats and a variety of vegetables. We came in close to closing time, so they had a lot of things that were out. I would've loved to try the strawberry pretzel salad. It sounded interesting. I got the fried pork chops with mashed potatoes and greens. It was amazing. The pork chop was awesome and full of flavor. The sides were good. It hit the spot after a long day of driving. I wish I was able to try one of their pies or banana pudding, but they were out. I would come back to Macon just to eat here!! read more

One of my favorite restaurants to get a "home cooked" meal. The menu changes daily, but it's the same every week. Good variety of vegetables to choose from and the mac and cheese is absolutely delicious. It can get pretty busy after church on Sundays. During the week they have a split schedule. I normally call my order in and pick it up to go. The staff I've encountered have always been super nice. The portions are standard, enough to get full, but you'll not likely have much for leftovers! read more

This place is amazing! I have been so many times and never had a bad experience. The food is so quick and fresh, and takes less than 5 minutes. All of the servers are very kind, and the food is great. My favorite is the Macaroni Salad. They accidentally gave me Mac & Cheese instead, but fixed it very quickly. I do think it's a little weird how they have a different menu every day of the week, though. My only complaint is that they should serve Beef Tips and Rice and Macaroni Salad Daily! I love Jeneane's. I was born in Macon but have not lived in the south for about 25 years. I was home for a family visit and we stopped in for lunch. The food was so good I nearly cried. This sort of restaurant is completely foreign in San Diego. Completely. There is just nothing like a Meat and Three anywhere. Those of you who live near Jeneane's should take full advantage of this place. We were there on Thursday, February 7th. I had Lemon baked chicken, butter beans, field peas, mac & cheese and hoe cake. For $9.25! You guys! This is amazing! Incredible fresh made food and the price is so reasonable. I've never in my life considered moving back to Macon. This might be a good reason. read more

Ok I can't say this place is a five star spot but...it's a strong four. First when I walk in I get that feeling that I'm at grandmas house and She's cooking all my favorites. (Mashed pot. Mac n cheese green beans black-eyed peas fried chicken banana pudding pecan pie beef tips and rice okra and the list goes on). The service is the best because that southern hospitality really shows at a place like this. The cooks no what they are doing as well. The lines is presently short and moving like a well oiled machine. I even made up my own meal combination because I couldn't make up my mind between two meats, so I asked to creat a two meat and two veggies plate that's not on the menu as an option. They accommodated my order and they have u go and sit down and the waiters being ur plate out to your table of choice. The interior isn't all plush but honestly I didn't expect it to be. It's not golden choral so the seats look used or comfortable because its homey. It also gives you that old school cafeteria vibe. I welcomed it and really enjoyed my meal and conversation with one of the waiters, they all had great energy and kept big bubbling smiles. I visited Jeneane's Restaurant for the first time today (Sunday, 2.5.17) for lunch... to go on a first date with someone I delightfully and recently met online. He lives in Macon, so I decided to travel there. The restaurant was very crowded, even at 11:30 am. The wait time for a table wasn't too long. We were greeted by server 'Randy,' who promptly, proficiently, pleasantly and professionally greeted us, and told us all about the options for lunch. The food was excellent, the price is very reasonable, and the ambiance is what you'd probably hope for and expect in a southern-style favorite food spot. Randy's section was full, and I can understand why. I'd place him right up there with any server in NYC, SF, ATL, etc. Certainly will visit this place again some day! (ps... the date was great, too!) I have a fully diagnosed food addiction. This is complicated by a bit of obsessive compulsive behavior...and I am now totally obsessed with Jeneane's. First of all....their food is, yes, totally yummy to my tummy. They have the perfect combination of fried, slow cooked and fresh...and all of my favorite southern treats. They also have fantabulous biscuits-which may be the final nail in this fat girl's coffin. Like the first reviewer noted (straight from their website...oddly enough) they have an ongoing rotation of meats, veggies and desserts. You can basically go to their website, check out the offerings for the day, select your meat and two, call it in, and pick it up...a neat package of divine goodness, or, of course, you can always eat in and enjoy the motley crew (mostly old couples and fat bachelors...at least when I was there) of diners. Either way...you can not go wrong. Mashed potatoes and gravy....omg! Field peas and snaps? Fried pork chops? HELLO? All delish, delish, delish. I actually can't wait to bring my parents here....Pops is gonna love it. Actually I can't wait to go back myself. The last time I went I splurged and had an extra veggie side, exquisite iced tea and banana pudding...and I left with a ginormous to-go box, a full belly and my wallet was less than 10 bucks shorter than when I came. That's what I'm talking bout. Oh..minor disappointment....the banana pudding. Meh. I like it better from the Medical Center cafeteria...but that my friends, is an entirely different beast. This is where local people eat time and time again. Tourists don't know about this place, but if they did and wanted home style cooking in Macon it's where they should go. Meatloaf, salmon briquettes are the types of entrees here. The menu changes daily, with everything made from scratch. Flat cornbread and yummy biscuits. The food is good here and lots of regulars. There is a specific menu for each day of the week, keep that in mind in case you don't like a particular day's menu. I like the chicken fingers here the best, they are very good dipped in their honey mustard sauce (you can actually taste the honey *rare nowadays*)! The fried pork chop is also good here! The cream corn is one of my favorite side dishes. The sweet tea usually isn't very sweet, and that's a shame! This would be one of two good stops on Sunday after church, either S&S or here but my favorite is.....S&S! read more

Serving Macon, GA the finest selection of country style meats, fresh vegetables, made from scratch biscuits, flat bread, homemade pies and banana pudding made fresh daily. A lunch or dinner of a meat and two vegetables will run you around $6.50. The meats and veggies change each day, but there's always at least six meats and several veggies to choose from. All of Jeneane's vegetables are fresh and when available, locally grown. The homemade chicken dumplings are unbelievable and some of the best I have ever had. The cranberry salad is also very good. Going there reminds me of eating at my grandmother's house when I was growing up. Delicious food and wonderful people. One night a friend and I went for dinner before a Little Theatre play and when we got the menu we weren't thrilled about the selections for the day but when we got our food we ate every bite - it was SO good. Naw...Ive has lots of really good southern food in my day but this ain't it folks. This is supposed to be the best southern cooking restaurant in Macon and I am quite surprised at the result for a large historical southern city such as this....should have gone to Bears Den I guess. This Friday night had the fried catfish...very thin meat and almost all corn meal breaking,....very little actual meat. Fries were of the frozen variety and not particularly hot and none of their peas or beans were fresh so got corn on the cob which was very juicy and sweet. My sweetheart had meat loaf and was not happy with his meal either. Meat loaf meat was fine but coating tasted like chef boyar dee instead of the baked on sweet spicy kind we prefer. He could not even eat the macaroni and cheese and I agreed that or was rather tasteless and uninspired. Dinners come with these odd " ho cakes" .... Small corn meal pancakes that are supposed to serves as cornbread. They had a oily aftertaste too. Sweet tea was good and the coconut pie was great...good texture and light crust. Stopped on the drive to Savannah. Jeneane's did the trick. This place has all the Southern staples at a great price. You're seated quickly, orders taken quickly, and the food comes out fast too. I had the chicken and dumplings. While not the best I've ever had, definitely solid. Oh, and I love the hoe cakes or whatever they'll called that they serve you after you order. read more

The food here is bland at best...and I am baffled by the good reviews. We recently stopped by, visiting from the Pacific Northwest for a wedding down in Savannah and stopped off here for dinner. As soon as you walk in you feel like you are in a mid-west roadside diner...nothing crisp, fresh or attractive-looking about the decor, just tired and drab. Kinda place you want to open all the windows, give a thorough clean and put some fresh and new seating in. Scratch that - this place needs Gordon Ramsay. We ordered the ham, mashed potatoes, pear salad, buttered carrots, creamed corn, chicken pot pie and chicken tenders. When our plates arrived our hearts sank...no color, no fresh ingredients (i.e. the "pear salad" was a canned pear with a slab of butter on top with cheese - soooo grosss!) Everything was over-cooked, over-boiled, over-steamed etc,. It's NOT good southern cooking, it's NOT fresh and it's NOT comfort food. It was however VERY CHEAP and the wait staff were very friendly. Maybe that's the selling point or something...anyway, as soon as we walked into the parking lot we wanted to find somewhere to vomit. Our stomachs just could not handle the sheer density, butter and blandness of this food.
