Excellent experience! I ordered the fried catfish with the loaded hash browns and onion petals. Very tasty! I tried the fried okra and they were ok. My first time trying okra and I know my friend loves Cracker Barrel's fried okra. So it's probably me. Just not to my taste. But what added to our culinary experience and made it enjoyable was the attendant for our table. Her name is Jordan. She has brown hair and was friendly and diligent. She was quick to get our order and very helpful with our questions. While we were eating, I also saw her not only sweeping up after messy patrons, and not only wiping down the tables, but also conscientiously wiping the salt and pepper shakers, etc... It was refreshing to see such a hard worker during a lull in the business day. My husband and I travel many times a month and so we eat out frequently. Many times, we've seen workers going in the back and we end up waiting a long time for service. Or they're more engaged on their phones or chatting with one another so they don't notice the customers. I get it, it's a long day for them. Stopped by here om a road trip from Garden if the Gods at the Shawnee National Forest. I ordered the new for summer campfire beef. The braised beef is so tender and I love that it came with carrots, grape tomatoes that are well seasoned. The red skin potatoes as well as corn on the cob was also a nice carb addition. I asked for a soup spoon to slurp all that delicious juice. Corn muffins are still on point. The watermelon lemonade and lemonade though seem a little to strong. I've been watching my sugars lol. Our server was more than amazing. She asked if we want to split the bill and I'm glad she did as I forget this often. This is a solid visit and consistent with other CB I've been to. read more

Five stars for a great breakfast after spending the night in our RV in the parking lot. Yes, Cracker Barrel allows RVers to use their parking lot for overnight parking with the kind request that if you're eating, you enjoy that meal with them. Warmly welcomed right as they opened at 7am, we had coffee within two minutes and ordered breakfast. French Toast for Mrs. K. and basted eggs with bacon for me. The place was not busy at all and it still took over 20 Mins to get our orders. When the food arrived the order was wrong and the dumplings were way overcooked. This was a pretty middling experience. On the negative side, the food took a long time to come out, which is very hard when you've got hungry kids. Also, after I requested hot sauce for my potatoes, our waitress didn't come back. So, my potatoes got cold. On the positive side, the waitress eventually returned and gave me a fresh side of potatoes. And the bacon and biscuits were decent. So, could it have been worse? Certainly. We've been going to Cracker Barrel for years at many locations. Mt.Vernon IL is closest and we go there a couple times a month. Over the last year the food quality has gone down and down. Yesterday we ordered our favorite Maple Bacon Chicken but after their 'rebrand' they have dropped it. Prices increased AGAIN. Got meatloaf and it was mushy - consistency like wet bread that dissolved without chewing. The sides were smaller and very bland. I got fish last visit and it was so thin it was barely more than a quarter inch thick and mostly breading, very very overcooked. The food now tastes like a frozen TV dinner. Our waitress was very attentive and pleasant but the very young cashier was rude and dismissive and rolled her eyes when I asked a question about the card reader. I cashed in all my reward points - and sorry to say will not return. Another good restaurant gone. So sad. We'll go to several locally owned restaurants for our twice weekly meal outings. And please dont respond with your stock phrase "we're sorry for your poor experience" line - it is so insincere. read more

Seated quickly and staff were friendly. The food was good and warm. My kids love the country store. However, service was slow. We never got our biscuits though all the other tables got it. When our food came, they didn't bring the extra plate we had asked for so my kid ate a meal off a napkin. My husband waited the entire meal for his hot sauce. When they came after everyone finished eating they did end up coming out with warm hash browns, hot sauce, and a plate so I appreciate that they did try. Online order The order was put in, and as I was pulling into the parking lot, I was called by the store to inform me they were out of one of the items I ordered. I understand when restaurants run out of things, but the order had been placed thirty minutes earlier, and someone should have caught that. I changed my order and waited for another thirty minutes. Finally, my order came out, and the waitress didn't let me know when she knew i had been waiting. Anyway, this was an online order(which I will never do again), and my bill didn't get adjusted because the new item was cheaper than the original item. I changed my mind last week after dinner at the Paducah, KY location. Immediate impression upon sitting down was the menu had expanded and the prices had been lowered. And we had an angel of a server in "Abigail." Young, enthusiastic, new to the job, not yet suffering from the malaise that comes from working in the service industry too long and having to put up with people's inane requests. I had the single filet of fried catfish, with choice of sides (fries and greens) and everything was prepared perfectly. $8. Dinners include 'made from scratch biscuits or corn muffins.' Friendly staff. Seated promptly. Service was a bit slow. Drinks set empty for about 15 minutes before a refill was provided. Biscuits were warm and fresh. Taste of the food was good but for the first time ever at a Cracker Barrel my dumplings were a bit undercooked. We had four people at the table and two of us had lukewarm food while the two country fried chicken meals were hot. A bit disappointing. Men's restroom was disgustingly dirty. Cracker Barrel is one of those chain restaurants that is consistent from location to location. When I travel I often like to stop at places I know when I'm not in the mood for surprises. I always appreciate good comfort food when I'm away from home. Surprisingly, no wait at 1:00 p.m. and was seated immediately. The menu has breakfast, lunch, dinner and desserts served all day. I was told today is their first day serving peach tea. Not my kind of thing even though I was assured it was very good. If you enjoy peach flavored iced tea give it a try. I ordered a hot Pumpkin Latte (served hot or cold) topped with whipped cream. The latte had an excellent pumpkin flavor. I stopped for a light, quick lunch and selected the bowl of turnip greens served with sliced onions, chow chow relish and corn muffins. I love these turnips greens prepared with bits of ham and a perfect lunch for me. I could eat these every day. My server Gayla was very efficient just smileless and not very personable. She did a great job; maybe she's just the quiet type. My lunch arrived quickly, everything was fresh and delicious. No complaints at all. I was in and out of the restaurant in less than 20 minutes and back on the road. Check out the gift shop if you have time. Right now the shop is full of Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas decor along with all the regular purses, toys, cookbooks, candies, sodas, infant and adult clothing plus so much more. Terrible service. Caleb was supposed to be our server-never saw him and another server told us she had to "put a fire under his butt and he would be right out"... never showed up. Yep. It's a Cracker Barrel alright. I love their beans and greens (turnip greens cooked with ham, pinto beans, sliced raw onion and a little chow chow) and RRR can always find something. Today he found their chicken pot pie special and ate every bite. CBs do vary in quality, without a doubt, and we have been to some that were quite poor in either service and/ or food, but this one I would rate near the top. It helped that we stopped when their restaurant was only about half filled. The wait staff was great, the coffee was hot, our food arrived quickly and tasted good. When the waitress stopped by to check on us I told her my greens weren't very hot. She offered to replace, I asked if they could reheat and she had it back to me in 5 minutes or less. I am giving 1 star because there is not an option for 0. Cracker Barrel standards, as we all know, are nothing like they once were. Expectations are never high anymore, but the food is consistently decent. Our waitress brought out our food except for some grilled sourdough that was lagging. When asked if we needed anything else, my wife asked for ketchup for her fries. After the fries were cold and the rest of her dinner almost consumed, she asked again and we, somewhat irritatedly, asked about the ketchup. After she blamed the grill for not giving her the ketchup, I lost it, as grabbing a bottle of ketchup shouldn't involve the grill! She proceeded to continue to argue and make excuses, and I finally asked to see a manager. Several minutes later the shift leader came over, did not apologize, and continued the litany of excuses. Instead a of saying something like "may I get you some hot fries" she said "what would you like for me to do for you? I can offer you free dessert." We declined ad we did not care for dessert. She continued to defend the terrible service, and I asked her to just leave the table. She did. The server then huffily brought out the grilled sourdough and the bill as we finished eating. Bottom line, this review is due totally to the stupidity and incompetence of management. That the server did not know how to deal with a minor server error is a direct reflection on the restaurant management. Pretty sure she simply forgot the ketchup. read more

Food was served quickly and hot. Coffee was kept full and piping hot. When at Cracker B. I'm a fan of Uncle Herschel's Favorite. I pretend that he's my uncle. Uncle Hersch. Love him and his breakfast. What I learned recently about Cracker B's is that they will make you regular hash browns. You know, in lieu of that horrid casserole they slap on every plate. It's a no-charge substitution and it works at every CB I've been to. Growing up in Southern Indiana, my mom always put a touch of sugar in her milk gravy. My friends and I were driving from Carbondale back home to Chicago. When we saw the Cracker Barrel sign, we were overwhelmed by hunger - a hunger for food and kitsch. Cracker Barrel has both. I got the chicken and dumplings and it was enough to feed a small army. The price is insanely cheap for the amount of food you get. And it's all good. After our meal, we all sat on the rocking chairs out front, simply digesting and wishing we had a chunk of wood to whittle. read more
