We decided to visit Cracker Barrel after not having gone for quite a while. We arrived at around 7:30 pm and were seated pretty much right away. The dining room rocked that traditional, old fashioned, Cracker Barrel vibe that we all love so much. Our server, Sophia, greeted us very soon after we were seated, took our drink order, delivered the drinks, answered our questions, and took our food order very expeditiously. We ordered a variety of dishes ranging from breakfast to dinner, pancakes and French toast, to shrimp, and country fried steak. All of the food was very good, especially for a chain restaurant. Arrived with a friend for lunch and the front room, a souvenir and candy store, was packed. It was hard to get to the hostess for seating. There were 3 lines converging in one point: seating, To-Go orders, and the checkout registers. A very poor design made worse by the overcrowded display kiosks of stuff for sale. He ordered steak and I ordered the country fried steak. Neither was edible. He liked his mac-n-cheese and thick cut fries ok, although I noticed he did not eat much. He took those to go, leaving a fairly large and untouched steak behind. He complained it was unseasoned and hard to chew. I was having my own problems with the country fried steak, as it too was hard to chew and bland. The fried coating was thick and bland, and the "gravy" was cool and did not taste good or make it any easier. I enjoyed my tiny portion of fried okra, which was fresh and flavorful, and to some degree the greens that were also served cool. The hashbrown casserole was cold and bland. So I basically had two small vegetables for lunch. Our tab with two drinks was $52. This is before tip. I give two stars because the staff and servers were hustling with a full dining room, and very friendly. They also offer apple butter if you ask, which is very good on a biscuit if you can get the butter to melt. There is a saying that great food can overcome bad service, but bad food cannot overcome great service. I believe this to be true. It's been awhile since I've been to a Cracker Barrel and maybe the increased prices, smaller portions, and lower quality are just a sign of the times. Or maybe it is a sign of a company whose leadership lost their way for a time focusing on the wrong things. But in any case, here we are. We stopped by today to see what was on the $19.99 meal deal. I had the meatloaf and he had the old timers. Our server Kim was very friendly and attentive. My meatloaf was good and the baby carrots are a favorite of mine but the turnip greens needs improvement. They had way too much pot roast and every time I took a bite I had pot roast and very little greens. In addition no taste, I will not order again. As usual this Cracker Barrel is decorated as original and country music playing in the background. We will visit again when I feel a need for country cooking. read more

Service - Zikia was a wonderful waitress. Very helpful. She kept my drink full. She understood my joke about Gordon Ramsey and the Shepherd pie. We left her over a 20% tip. Ambiance- same old country decoration. Same old triangle puzzle. Same gift shop. Very boring after seeing the same decorations year after year. Clean restroom. Food - I had the Hashbrown casserole shepherds pie. Gordon Ramsey would not approve of calling that a shepherd's pie. I came home for a visit recently, and some friends and I were going to the Renaissance fair. What do you do before a Ren fair? You eat breakfast at the local Cracker Barrel. We waited about a half hour for a table of about nine or 10, which wasn't so bad, considering that it was a busy Saturday morning. We got seated and got an awesome server. She was a grizzled veteran who was used to dealing with rapscallions like us. Very good service. Ambiance was standard Cracker Barrel. Looks like the interior of an antique store, has that fun little peg game on the table. No complaints. As for the food, I had the The Cracker Barrel's Country Boy Breakfast (Starts with three farm fresh eggs and choice of two Breakfast Sides plus Sugar Cured Ham. Comes with Buttermilk Biscuits and Sawmill Gravy). For my sides, I got a chocolate chip pancake and the Loaded Hashbrown Casserole Tots (Our Hashbrown Casserole fried into crispy bite-sized tator tots loaded with bacon pieces and melted cheese. Served with Buttermilk Ranch). Exactly what I wanted out of a Cracker Barrel. Everything was good. The biscuits were a little flat and hard, so skip them if you're prioritizing tummy space. But everything else was good. Those loaded tots were a holy abomination that you shouldn't try to eat all by yourself. They're so decadent. Share them with your table. Overall, you just can't go wrong with Cracker Barrell. I love it here, and I will probably return to this location before the end of all things. read more

We ordered Cracker Barrel last night for dinner. I would say we've eaten here more than 20 times in 2025. And while there are some hits and misses, when we've order from here in the past, this was by far the worse. We ordered two slow braised pot roast meals one with a side of broccoli and a side of mashed potatoes with brown gravy. And the other with a side of pinto beans and two sides of mashed potatoes. Slow-Braised pot roast: 5/10 My husband order two sides for $16.49 and I ordered three sides for $17.99. The pot roast wasn't worth that price for the amount of meat in the meal, 1 out of the 5 pieces was just pure fat the other 4 piece were meat and fat mix. The potatoes were lumpy, dry and tasteless in my meal, and just lumpy and tasteless, my husband said of his. The pinto beans: 1/10 I normally love pinto beans but these were undercooked and lacked any flavor. Definitely wouldn't recommend. We paid a total of $37.07 for both meals and I can honestly say I wouldn't buy this again based on taste, quality of the meat, potatoes, pinto beans, and quantity of the meat for that price. Based on past experiences and this current one, I would not recommend eating here at least as far as takeout. I have been a customer of Cracker Barrel since it first opened its doors in middle Tennessee, just outside of Nashville. The original menu was down home cooking. Last Friday night at Cracker Barrel was definitely not the same. Usually, our meals are delicious. I had pot roast with a reasonable amount of beef in the iron skillet. It comes with mashed potatoes which are usually good. Don't know what happened to my serving but it was in a tiny bowl and served up like a small scoop of ice cream. It looked like wallpaper paste. Mind you, the photo on the menu showed a portion of beef, carrots and celery in a rich brown gravy on half the skillet. The creamy mashed potatoes covered the other half of the skillet. Nope, not anymore!! $16.49 does not get you that tasty meal. By the way, you can't whitewash the interior of Cracker Barrel and think your customers will be happy with glaring white walls. The ambiance is part of the experience at Cracker Barrel. As the OLD saying goes, "IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT." Many have tried and most have failed. I would say that cracker Barrel is about to hit hit rock bottom at this rate. Leave our Cracker Barrel the way it is. I always try to review places that are great, but this one is "kind of sad." Upon entering the Cracker Barrel store, it is so cluttered, that it is not inviting. We, however, were seated quickly. Our waitress was highly attentive and got everything right - did her job well. The food was hot. The prices were as I expected. The kitchen did their job cooking, But they lost their spices, and food quality is still dismal. My Chicken fried steak was thick as a potato chip. The batter was good, just not much meat - seriously thin - the chicken fry in a Banquet TV dinner is thicker! The loaded hash brown casserole with extra cheese and bacon was 3 small bites. The green beans were few. The Cole slaw was good but not cut well, and again, very small. The biscuits were horribly bland - they are much better at KFC. My wife said the chicken was fine, but again, the sides were portioned as if it was a children's plate.This is a truly iconic brand that could be great again, but failed miserably at being what is stated it is - an American restaurant - the plate should be overflowing with well made food. Look, I know prices are up. It's hard to attract customer dollars. But if I had added "good quality food and lots of it," not only would I return - but this would have been a 5 star review. As it is, I'm not going back. 3 stars for the staff, none for the quality of the raw product or portions. I tried Cracker Barrel for the first time because it always seems so busy. Chose Grandmas Breakfast because I like breakfast foods and it's quick and simple. Bad mistake. Smallest order of hash browns (casserole) I've ever seen. Got a tiny piece of sausage, one tiny piece of bacon, and a tiny piece of ham. The meats all were hard and cold. Felt and tasted like they had been cooked at 4 am and sat out on a plate all day. Then to top it off the pancakes tasted funny. Pretty sure at least 4 people touched that plate (at least 2 cooks, an expl, and my server) and all felt like that food was ok to serve. Instructed you must go on line and place numerous reservations for the max party of 6 each, what the fudge crackers. So ridiculous, but we played the game. Why can't you order Omelette's anymore and What the Freak happened to Jalapeños, have they become that expensive that Cracker Barrel the Country Store Giant can no longer afford Jalapeños or afford the offering of Omelette's - some of us don't eat the Country Goodness even though we were raised in the country. It has been a couple of months since we have been to Cracker Barrel. We have been regular customers for years, especially when we road trip. Today was disappointing. From the time we entered til the time we left we were all well taken care of (family of six), during the busy summer months. We were told a 45m wait at least (no worries, to be expected it was lunch time) however maybe 10min later we were all seated. All staff members we encountered were extremely polite and very helpful. When our drink glasses got the slightest hint low if our waitress wasn't within reach to fill them someone else picked up her slack & did it with a smile. Everyone that took "care" of us held conversation with us too. ...how was our vacation, chatting with my children. The small talk and being personal makes a HIGE difference to me. Not to mention our food came out quickly, hot & fresh!! ...I also noticed how our waitress (mind you, she was very pregnant) took extremely great care of the table over from us that was a group of senior citizens that had service men/women at that table. Transferred me to David. I explained the situation and he said they don't deal with issues and to contact Doordash. I explained I already had but because the store confirmed the order they couldn't alter or refund. He said fine, asked for my phone number and said he'd handle. You'd expect hot fresh food after an hour wouldn't you? I would too. I was wrong... Doordash of course has no record of the store requesting a refund... So I guess I am out that money. I fell head over heels for the biscuits at this establishment. They're so soft, fluffy, and just so delicious! The apple butter pairs very well with the biscuits! Watch out, you could be overcharged too!! We went to grab breakfast. The wait to be seated was not bad. We got to the table and the waitress immediately came and took not only our drink order but food order as well. We did not get seated with silverware so when we got our drinks, we had to ask for silverware and a spoon to stir the coffee. The waitress went on to assist other tables while we waited for silverware. I ordered the build your own breakfast and I'm allergic to eggs so I ordered it with hash brown casserole, fried apples and the meat sampler. The food comes out and I was only given ham, hash brown casserole and fried apples. I just ate what I was given. They did not bring the biscuits and gravy that came with both meals and when they finally brought the biscuits and gravy (at the end of the meal) the biscuits were raw in the middle. The worst part is my meal was supposed to be 10.49 but after my husband paid I noticed they over charged my meal charging me extra for hash brown casserole and ham which was nearly a 5.00 extra for what was to be included in my meal. No, I did not complain or talk to a manager but check your receipts to make sure you're not being unnecessarily overcharged too! Very disappointing to say the least. read more

The energy and chatter in the restaurant was light and friendly. We loved the decor and vintage signs & charming details. Upon being seated, we were immediately & warmly welcomed by our server, Kelly M. She took our drink order and asked if we had any questions about the menu. She returned quickly with our drinks and took our order. After reading the reviews, I did not have high expectations about the food or the service and I am so happy to report all was exceptional. It helps that this restaurant is within a mile of my house! And the ambiance is probably some of the best in Pensacola, for what it is; definitely evokes that down home feel that I'm sure they were going for. Honestly, when it comes to the food, like most places of this type I get the burger, and the Barrel Cheeseburger pretty much hits the spot. It is massive, and the rather smooth, rich Colby cheese they use is a perfect complement. I actually order the garden stuff off of the bun on the side, so I may add it to my side salad! Yes that's right, I get a salad alongside my burger. And it is wonderful as well. The service is quite friendly and prompt, and it's always wonderful to see others being served in just the same courteous and attentive fashion that we are. I'd be pretty remiss if I didn't mention the gift shop, which is the first place that we go in when we enter! They always dress it up really nice - All sorts of souvenirs and merchandise from every corner of Southern lifestyle that you can think of. Candy and snacks, CDs and records and all manner of wonderful things to see. And they even change it entirely for Christmas; it becomes a winter wonderland! The massive tree with Santa's sleigh on a track winding around it; always a sight to see. If you're ever around I-10 near the Alabama border and you got a hankering for a really good burger or pretty much any kind of Southern comfort food you can think of, head on into the Cracker Barrel, get yourself a souvenir or two and enjoy some excellent surroundings and atmosphere. About the only thing I can say against the place isn't really its fault, but because it is so popular at nearly all times of the day, it can get pretty loud in there. If I could give a 0 I would. The hostess acted like it was a chore to seat us. It took us 15 minutes to get noticed by a server and then it took another 15 minutes to get a water and a Coke.
