Ambiance was classic Cracker Barrel which is to be expected. Never waited so long before when it wasn't even busy. Waitress was close to invisible while also wearing an AirPod in one ear. And people were asking about their food. So, waited a bit longer, but then asked. "Oh, yours will be the next one out." And they had plenty of staff doing little to nothing most of the time we were there. Yet, some staff never bussed tables, but were carrying other items around& restocking already full shelves... or doing nothing when they could have been seen working on tables piled with used plates. But our food still wasn't the next one out. Instead we saw at least 9 take out orders go up front. After an hour of waiting, I asked another wait staffer again about our food. Then still waited some more. I was ready to walk out, but we said we'd give it three more minutes. Finally- after an hour- Out came the food, but it sure wasn't the right food. No mac & cheese, and the meatloaf & potatoes magically turned into what looked like "chicken turds," baked apples, and some weird okra casserole side. The chicken they served me looked like it had been dropped on the dirty kitchen floor, then pan fried in grease (unbreaded) until burnt. It wasn't just unappetizing, it was insulting. Me: "This isn't what we ordered..." Waitress: "Do you want to keep it?" Me: "Absolutely not." Waitress: "Do you want me to still get you what you ordered?" Me: "Absolutely not." If you can't check the order when it goes up, that is very late, whatever reason should I give to wait longer... while my other family member has their food get cold? Regardless- Their "so called" Southern BBQ dipping sauce for the chicken fingers was a bad thousand island dressing with some tabasco mixed in. They did bring the mac & cheese, but it was horrid. Starchy, watery & it had black spots. We threw that out in the garbage after leaving. Finally, I asked if they expected me to pay, which they then realized they couldn't make us pay for the bad service- so we just got up and left. The "I'm sorry" apology sounded rather "repeatedly rehearsed," so I suspect the store had gotten used to giving poor service. I think this will be the last time I go into a cracker barrel. Ever. We went to meet friends that were on the road traveling. Got to Cracker Barrel 12 minutes early. We don't want family or friends waiting for us that are on the road. We are Seniors in 70s. Cracker Barrel Policy is you can't be seated until all in your party are present. They wouldn't seat us. I would've had a beer my wife a tea. Its 4. And they made us stand and walk around there shop for around 15 minutes. Until our family got there. I need right hip replacement. Have bad left foot. Its not pleasant to stand or walk. Absolutely the WORST restaurant experiences I have ever had. We came to Cracker Barrel expecting a nice family dinner, but almost everything that could have gone wrong did. My brother ordered a steak and was brought sausage patties instead. My mom's boyfriend received the wrong meal, and when the correct one finally came out, the ham was so overcooked and dry it was barely edible. My mom ordered ranch for her salad and was given bleu cheese instead, along with other incorrect toppings. I even ordered a Coke Zero and was given Diet Coke instead. On top of all of that, every single one of our meals that was supposed to come with gravy arrived with NO GRAVY. The food itself was honestly some of the driest restaurant food I've ever eaten. It was clear that quality was not a priority. The worst part of the entire experience, though, was what happened to my boyfriend. THE WAITRESS DROPPED HIS ENTIRE PLATE ALL OVER THE FLOOR. The plate shattered everywhere, and SHARP PIECES OF THE PLATE CUT HIS LEGS. Instead of immediately checking to see if he was okay or apologizing, SHE DIDN'T EVEN ASK IF HE WAS OKAY. We had to ask for a Band-Aid ourselves, and when we did, SHE GAVE US ATTITUDE and walked away. NOT ONCE did she apologize. She had an attitude from beginning to end. Every time we needed something because of another mistake, she acted annoyed that we were asking. Despite getting multiple orders wrong, forgetting items that were supposed to come with our meals, and CAUSING A CUSTOMER TO GET CUT, she NEVER APOLOGIZED ONCE. We asked to speak with the manager, and after waiting, NO MANAGER EVER CAME. We were then told that the "manager" was actually the chef, which honestly explains a lot considering how awful the food was. Even after everything that happened--including a customer getting cut by broken plate shards--we received ABSOLUTELY NO COMPENSATION. No discount, no apology from management, nothing. To make matters even worse, the broken plate sat on the floor for around 10 minutes before anyone even attempted to clean it up. Even then, they barely cleaned it. There were STILL SHARP PLATE SHARDS ALL OVER THE FLOOR, creating a serious safety hazard. People were continuing to walk through the area, including a woman wearing flip-flops, and someone easily could have stepped on the pieces and gotten hurt. When we finally left, the waitress didn't thank us for coming, didn't apologize, and didn't acknowledge anything that had happened. She simply SIDE-EYED US and walked away. Wrong orders. Missing food. Wrong drinks. Terrible quality food. A waitress with a HORRIBLE ATTITUDE. A shattered plate that CUT MY BOYFRIEND'S LEGS. No concern for his safety. If I could give it zero stars, I would. Carmen was our waitress. She brought our fried pickles out with no dipping sauce. She never came back out. We had to get up and ask another waitress for it. Then our meal came with biscuits and cornbread...she never brought us any. My husband order a salad. He never got it. We finally got our food and mine was supposed to have gravy. It didn't. We had to find her again to ask for it. She never came back and refilled our drinks. Never once did she ask how everything was. I had to get up and ask the hostess for a to-go box. She finally came and ask do we want our check? I said Yes and she slung it across the table and walked off like she was made at us because she's horrible at her job. The restaurant wasn't busy, yet it was filthy. We watched someone at another table spill a drink, and the wait staff did the bare minimum to clean up the mess. Went here last night for dinner with a friend at 7:00pm. I arrived first and the wait staff was nice and I was seated and offer a drink right away. The place was half empty and draining as people were finishing and leaving. My friend showed up after about 10 min and so another 7:15 we ordered. He got a meat loaf plate and I ordered chicken and dumplings with three sides of broccoli. We sat for about 20 min. I have been here the last four times and have been very disappointed. The dish Bacon and hash-brown casserole is the dish I get. They add scallions and tomato's to the top of it and the last four times I have ordered it they deliver it without it and then tell me they're out of the tomatoes and scallions. I have read dinner poor reviews but have to say my experience was quite different. I was passing down the road to NC and remember stopping here 3-4 years ago. Entered on a Friday at 12:30 and it just of two was immediately seated. The menu had been scaled back and the salad I wanted was no longer around. Saw a chicken and dumplings special on a highway billboard so got that. The dish was steaming hot and full of chicken. The salad was fresh and the Bleu cheese dressing had a few chunks of cheese. The fresh, hot biscuits made this a wonderful meal. Or server was attentive and friendly. Cannot say if the breakfast foods are still good but lunch was well worth the stop. These people always do an excellent job. The wait staff are always pleasant and very helpful. The food is just good food and comes out fast. Cracker Barrel's are our favorite restaurants when on the road. They are all set up the same so no wandering around to find the restrooms. They now have a couple of beers which is a nice touch. Me, my Sister and Mother were traveling from Virginia to NC and stopped at the CB in South Hill, VA on interstate 85. We were minutes from home in NC when my niece in Fairfax called to say her Mom (my sister) left her wallet-phone at the restaurant! In the wallet was $60, credit cards, license and even more cash hidden in secret compartments! We called and spoke with Melanie (mgr). Do you know she UPS'd the wallet and it arrived the next day with EVERYTHING in it! At first my sister blamed the incident on "the devil" but when she received the wallet, phone, money, the next day, she said, "That goes to show you, there are some good people in this world!"
