This rating would be 2.5 if I could rate it that. So I really wanted to like the food here especially after the bad reviews. But let me say the chicken sandwich is not worth $10 at all. Maybe I'm used to sassy bird but they should be selling it for like $5. I wouldn't order it again it didn't have much flavor, the chicken was juicy but that's it and it barely had any coleslaw/Mac and cheese on it. My husband got the crackin chicken special, he said it had "ok" flavor but there was a lot of breading on it. The waffles were floppy, think about putting a pancake in the microwave- they did have good Flavor though. The potato salad was really good. The customer service was good no one was rude, the guy making the meat was really nice and he asked right away what Meats I would be ordering. The lady who rang me up was friendly; however, when I came back to get the food the girl who handed it to me seemed like she hated her life. I placed an online order for a "Big Jay's Favorite" meal and 2 "What the Cluck Sandwich" sandwiches from their online menu: https://www.crackinchickenandwaffles.com/online-ordering/crackinchickenandwaffles/menu I was given an 11:00am pickup time and arrived at 11:08am but stood in line waiting for service for 15 minutes when the manager/owner finally asked at 11:23am if I was picking up an order. I told her my name and gave her my order/confirmation number, but she stated, "I don't do chicken" and "you'll have to talk to them" while pointing at someone behind the counter where other customers were also waiting in line for service. I was then forced to wait in that line for another 17 minutes before being told that they couldn't find my order but they were going to start cooking the chicken right then at 11:40am. The chicken was ready at 12:00pm but they still needed to cook the waffles. I, again, asked about my order at 12:10pm then at 12:17pm, they stated that they were out of waffles and that I could select any side dish as a replacement. I was finally given my order at 12:23pm but it was incomplete: the order should have contained a 1/2 chicken with 2 waffles, but I was only given 2-drumsticks and the substitute side dish. Their stated reason was that they were out of everything else and only had drums, never addressing the fact that they gave me 2 pieces rather than 4 pieces that would normally be in a 1/2 order of chicken or that they neglected to mention that they were out of chicken when handing me my order. Rather than do the right thing by simply adding the missing chicken, they chose to argue the fact that they were out of chicken and waffles, as if that's the customer's fault. At 12:28pm, they stated that they'd cook more chicken and I'd have to wait 10 - 15 minutes more. I was finally given the additional pieces of chicken at 12:41pm, which contained 2 more drums and a couple of wings that they previously claimed they didn't have. But while I was waiting for my order, an employee walked over to me and stated here's your order, but the container was much larger than it should have been, so I questioned her as she walked away and to my extreme surprise, she very rudely stated "that's your rib order!" Now, I could've said OK and walked out with the very large rib order, but it wasn't mine and it would have inconvenienced someone else who's waiting for that order. It speaks to their extreme inattentiveness, unprofessionalism, incompetence and disrespect. My simple order took 1-hour and thirty-three minutes from the time that I entered the building to walking out, but it gets worse! The drums were clearly leftover and refried, which made them burnt, tough, and difficult to chew (see the attached pictures). The two "What the Cluck Sandwich" sandwiches were advertised as containing a chicken breast but were just scraps, gristle, fat, bits, and small pieces of chicken (see the attached picture) that were placed on a bun then covered with mac-n-cheese, coleslaw and dressing to conceal the scraps, gristle, and fat. Additionally, the employees, manager/owner were extremely rude, extremely unprofessional, extremely slow, appeared disorganized, and were not customer focused! They were disrespectfully and rudely yelling at customers. I contacted them using the contact data on their website but did not get a response. It's no wonder that they, apparently, can't remain at a location for very long, as they've been at several locations in the AV, including a short time in the AV Mall area and are now on Ave K. Excellent friendly customer service! Food was made to order and when it came out it was pipping HOT! Me and my husband both ordered the "sassy girl" which is a 3pc wing w/waffle. We both got an extra Wing cuz we figured we would need more food and a side of red beans and rice. when it came out it was super KRISPY. The chicken was more than enough food & good flavor. I was picking up a DoorDash order from Crackin Chicken & Waffles, and had horrendous service at the register. The young woman was so rude, and lashing out at customers. After calling the owner to explain the bad situation, I was then cussed out by him, telling me don't ever f*cking come into my restaurant again as a DoorDash driver, nor as a customer. Honestly not sure what all the negative reviews are for. The people are excellent- far above par for the AV. And the food is good. The chicken is tender and moist. The waffles are hearty and have an great cinnamon flavor. The plate was served with syrup and hot sauce. Now, little details... the location is not optimal but the restaurant is very clean which I'll admit did surprise me. The restrooms are very clean too. Lots of seating and even call ahead and drive through. Our food was clearly made to order and delivered HOT! Minimal wait when compared to other similar restaurants. The thing that I was most surprised about after reading other reviews was that they do not charge for refills. I saw that I two reviews that recommended other restaurants but they actually don't charge. This is a combo Dickey's / Crackin Chicken, so if you don't feel like chicken, there's lots of other bbq options. The chicken was made fresh when I ordered and was hot, crispy on the outside and moist inside, and really tasty, but because it was cooked to order, everyone else in my party of 15 was finished with their meal when mine was delivered. They had a few different options for waffles on the menu, including red velvet, but only regular were available when we went. Free chocolate ice cream cones for desert. Underrated chicken and waffle restaurant in the AV! Came here for the first time with my family and my first impression is that the restaurant seemed closed because it was empty and the lighting was a little low. However, once we got inside we were greeted with excellent customer service by the worker at the register. He offered us great deals on our meals and made sure we were well taken care of. The food came out very quickly, the family all ordered variations of the chicken and waffles. Highly recommend the blueberry waffles. The way the waffles are made resembles Roscoe's and the chicken was crispy and well done. I highly recommend the Louisiana hot sauce with the chicken. Delicious! We arrived and 1/2 hour before closing so our choices were limited. Not once did the staff give us the, I know you didn't just walk in here to eat at closing, look. We had fried chicken biscuits, waffles macaroni and cheese, and Kool-Aid. I don't know where they got that bird but The chicken is crispy, moist, and seasoned very well. The waffles are perfect. The macaroni and cheese was a little salty but it was still edible. The red Kool-Aid was just sweet enough. I think we paid over $3 for 16oz but it goes with this menu. The food really does taste like Momma and them made it. The staff was friendly and waited for us to finish our meal. The seating is limited and there is no outside seating. I struggled between 3 and 4 stars on this one. The fried chicken is top tier and the waffles are delicious. The chicken itself is seasoned perfectly and cooked perfectly (crisp outside with juicy inside). The waffles have a unique flavor that's still unmistakably waffle. Chicken and waffle prices are a little higher than fast food fried chicken, but worth every penny. If the rest of their food were this good, I'd be struggling between giving them 4 stars or 5 stars. Unfortunately their very expensive sides (for the portion you get) are thoroughly average. The greens looked right, but weren't as satisfying as I've experienced before. The mac and cheese dish wasn't a good integration of mac and cheese. Biscuits were very hard, but tasted fine when I slathered on heart-stopping amounts of butter to save it (sometimes one must sacrifice good health in the name of flavor). Cornbread was unremarkable. Grits were also unremarkable. The service was charming because it looks like a small family affair. Takes me back to when I was growing up in my family business. Less professional, but more like family. I was concerned that my order might take a long time to get out, but I didn't have to wait for an excessively long time. Not as fast as KFC, but more like Wing Stop wait times. The interior is pretty basic, but seems clean enough. It's a new restaurant, so we'll see if it stays that way over the next few months. The kitchen is somewhat open, so you can see that your food is NOT being prepared in a disaster kitchen. Also I use to work in the industry and I have never cared for reviews but anyways I'll be honest... So I went to the new place on Palmdale BLVD today, Cracken Chicken. My review is pretty mixed. The waffle was really good but when I got it, it was cold. They do have a red velvet waffle that looked good. NO SWEET TEA l got my waffle and greens 20min before I got my chicken wings. The greens were ok. Although it took the chicken 40 minutes to come after I ordered it was really good. Service was poor. It's a new place and I'm sure they will work on fixing the poor service. The prices are not horrible. All in all I'll give them a 2 out of 5 stars. They must do better next time. The owner was the worst part to me. He is also the owner of Dickies BBQ. He took the time to check on the large parties of dinners, but didn't acknowledge the smaller parties of dinners in the restaurant. I will give them another chance in about 6 to 10 months. Went first day of soft opening. Ordered 'sassy girl' (three wings and waffle) I received three legs and waffle. They were out of wings, and only had legs. However, the cook (who brought the food out) did manage to find two wings. Two additional meals were missing an Item or two. Also there was no CRACKIN Koolaid either. Staff was friendly. Overall food was okay. Probably will return one more time, after allotted time, for them to sort all the kinks out. Until then, drives to Roscoe's will always be worth it. read more
