I was staying at a friend's house for the weekend and she suggested this place since she'd eaten here before. I ordered a coffee and the California Benedict which was absolutely delicious. The service was lovely. The servers always made sure we had what we needed. It did take a little while for food to come out, but it's a small, quaint diner and honestly, the food is worth the wait. Everything was nice but lord Jesus they take sooo long just to take your order and offer drinks. My husband and I were close to walking out. Then you wait a long time for your food. The plates themselves are pretty big, and delicious so if you have patience to wait then come here for good breakfast but if you don't I suggest going elsewhere where you know your going to get served quicker and with better servers. Food was okay, we were hungry so everything tastes better when you are hungry. Lacked salt/ seasoning. I'll try it again. The low stars are because of the servers. They don't care to provide any service. We waited 15-20 minutes before they took our order, because the two girls were gossiping in the front. We told them we were ready to order but they continued to talk about personal things while we waited. I was about to walk out when my husband told them again we were ready to order and 2 minutes later they took our order.There was no real service, nobody checked on us once they gave us our food. Loved the breakfast nachos! Absolutely hit the spot. I was a little sad that they never came by to fill up my coffee that I ordered, so maybe keep in mind that you will have to request refills as needed. It's pretty small inside but doesn't feel cramped. Definitely a good cozy breakfast spot. read more

My wife had some business at the cafe today and ordered me a club sandwich with onion rings. First the sandwich on looking at it had avocado which I hate and it looked very dry but the rings looked promising. So I took a bite of the club and just as I thought dry needed some sauce mayo,mustard ketchup something cause the avocado was not enough moisture in sandwich. It was nothing to write home about and at more than $10 I wished it was a lil better now the rings they tasted like well like onion rings crispy not greasy I would get them again. read more

The California Benedict is out of this world. I've tried many breakfast spots and have rarely tried something so delicious. I dream about having this every weekend. The sweet sausage is perfection and with the croissant bread, just wow. Your tastebuds will thank you. The cooks are friendly and great people. This place is a great local gem. The people who work here seem genuinely happy and whole is busy and I'm sure they get flustered, they still treat you like a guest at a friends house. It's a small indoor size dome would call it cozy but it feels homey. Their biscuits and gravy, every time I order them, the flavor is always reliably tasty. I went to this place for breakfast with my son today. My son ordered a Mickey Mouse pancake with egg whites and a sausage. While he was eating his pancakes, his hands got all sticky with syrup and he didn't like the feeling, so he asked me to take him to the restroom to wash them. We were gone for maybe two minutes, and when we came back, my son's plate had the silverware, napkins, and the straw wrapper placed on top of it--clearly ready to be cleared away. But we hadn't even finished! It had only been about six minutes since they brought the food. When I asked one of the servers who did that, she told me "no one did" and that "maybe the air blew the utensils and papers onto the plate." Such a ridiculous and unprofessional response! Instead of admitting they made a mistake and fixing it, she gave me that absurd explanation. The least they could've done was acknowledge the error and not charge us for my son's meal--but they still charged it anyway. They're not quick to serve you, but apparently they're very fast when it comes to clearing your table! read more

This spot has quickly become one of my favorite breakfast joints in the AV. Their breakfast burritos are seriously some of the best I've had--huge, flavorful, and super satisfying. The kind you think you'll save half of but end up finishing in one sitting. Also, I know it's technically a kids' item, but I always get the Mickey Mouse pancakes with chocolate chips. They're fluffy, perfectly golden, and just make me happy. Zero regrets. The vibe is super laid-back, the staff is friendly, and the food comes out fast. I honestly wish I had something positive to say, but this place was a huge letdown. The food arrived cold and tasted like it had been sitting out way too long. My eggs were overcooked, the toast was soggy, and the coffee was bitter and barely warm. Service was just as disappointing--our server seemed completely uninterested and we had to flag someone down just to get a refill. On top of that, the place didn't look very clean, which is the last thing you want at a restaurant. Definitely not worth the money or the time. I won't be coming back. read more

My favorite breakfast spot in Quartz Hill. I enjoy when they have weekend specials with some "secret menu" type of vibe. I had the loco moco last time it came around and the beef patty was cooked to perfection. I'm a bigger fan of their other breakfast items too such as the biscuits and gravy and the pancakes. The food is usually really good here. Unfortunately we did not receive great service. We waited a while to be seated until we were guided by the male server. There was no wait ahead of us but it seemed full. We weren't noticed until another guy came in. He told us a waitress would attend to us shortly. A waitress came to our table, didn't say anything, and left. Eventually she came by and took our drink order. Then about 15 minutes later another waitress came by to take our food order. We ordered the monte cristo, a burrito, and the bread pudding. It took about 30-40 minutes for us to receive our food. No one asked if we wanted refills or gave us an update on our order. Other people were offered refills and were checked on. The servers kept walking past us and avoiding contact. At some point they would all disappear from the front and go to the back. I was trying to flag them down. The guy who came after us got his beverage and steak before us too. We received our bread pudding first and it was half warm and half cold.The burrito tasted great and so did the monte cristo. Despite the temp of the bread pudding it was good. Shout out to the cooks. My husband had to go ask for the check since no one was stopping by. I've been here before and the past 2-3 times the service was good. Not sure what happened. Once the big table left and the business died down we still felt neglected. Even the family who came I later was receiving better service. read more

Such a cute local spot with good food, really good service, and it's clean. What more can you ask for? We got here on Saturday morning just before the crowd - it was packed once our food came out. The servers, who seem to work as a team, remained attentive even during the rush. I built an (epic) omelette which included beef chorizo. Delicious. My big-man husband ordered the corned beef hash and the corned beef was fork tender. The portion was so large even he couldn't finish it. Food for later. Was really looking forward to having breakfast here as last time was wonderful. This time my food patty melt was over seasoned and the onion rings were served cold. My wife's BLT sandwich had stale lettuce. At no time during meal did anyone ask how the meal was. When I spoke to manager about issues, no apology or concern but was informed they would have fixed it if I told them about it. No one ever came back after food was delivered, not even to bring extra salsa requested at that time We had an empty drink at edge of table, three different employees walked past multiple times. When server brought check, she set it on table and went to walk away, we had to ask for refill that was sitting right next to check, never asking how everything was or if we needed boxes. She went and got another person's refill before ours. When we tried to ask server for to-go boxes, she kept walking by our table. We also observed our server eating instead of helping us. This was my first time here, my adult daughter's 3rd or 4th time. She said the service was always poor but wanted to give them another try. The point of going out to eat for breakfast is to eat together as a family... Ambience was okay too. We arrived at 1:20pm and the waitress made it a point that they close at 2pm. Unprofessional. 0 customer service . I visited this horrible small cafe today with my service dog. First, I was asked if he is a service dog, which is acceptable, but then I was told I could not bring him inside and was asked to sit outside in 100-degree heat. I want to kindly remind you that under the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), service dogs are allowed to accompany their handler inside all public areas of the restaurant. I hope you can share this information with your staff so they understand what a service dog is and how to properly accommodate guests with disabilities. read more
