We went to Craft 836 Canteen for my daughter's birthday dinner since she requested pizza and it was okay. She enjoyed the pizza, but it felt lacking. When we walked in, no one greeted us, so we seated ourselves. You can either order through an iPad by the entrance or scan a QR code at your table. Everything was phenomenal!! My mom and I went and we loved it! You walk in and seat yourself anywhere because there is no hostess (which I liked). There is also no wait staff to take your order because you order directly from your phone, a kiosk, the counter, or the bar if you choose to sit at the bar. We sat at a booth so we ordered from our phones. The owner or manager (Mike) was super helpful and explained all that to us when we first walked in. For drinks we had a Paloma and a Long Island iced tea. Both were fantastic and we really appreciated the huge cubes of ice so they drinks didn't get watered down! Oh and the water/ice is self serve which I liked because I didn't have to wait for anyone to get it for me. Food: Asparagus prosciutto pizza: loved this! We would've never thought to park asparagus and prosciutto on a pizza with a lemon aioli and WOW. just WOW! Super yummy. The lemon brightened up the whole pizza, and the prosciutto's salt paired perfectly with the asparagus. Crostini: delicious! They had tomato, prosciutto, basil, a balsamic glaze, and mozzarella. The prosciutto was a perfect addition by the chef for this sooooo I'll be doing it at home from now on! Cheese pizza: they stepped up a regular cheese pizza by putting their twist of dollops of ricotta and we loved it. Their tomato sauce tastes homemade and not jarred in my opinion and not super sweet or acidic. Garlic knots: YUM!!! These were crispy on the outside, not too oily, but the right amount of butter and FRESH garlic. You can tell they don't use the pre-minced stuff. And their marinara seems homemade because it tasted amazing and nothing like any store bought stuff I've ever had. *not pictured are the 2 pizzas we ordered to-go, more garlic knots, and cannoli dip* Walk away pizza: my husband requested this for us to bring home. He loved it and said he'd get it again in a heartbeat. Tough guy pizza: my dad requested this for us to bring back and loved it! The meats paired great with the balsamic glaze! Ordered takeout for Valentine's day. The food was not ready and I had to wait 15 minutes past the pick up time. The Mediterranean pasta was undercooked and dry and did not have much flavor at all there was no sauce or anything on it. Thought I'd try Craft 836 with a friend that came from out of town. Upon entry into the restaurant, no bartender or hostess appeared to be around. We waited while before deciding to seat ourselves. We used the QR code to place our order. I ordered tea and paid/left a tip immediately. It wasn't until an additional 15min or so when the waitress appeared... abrasively, she told us we weren't to sit at the booth we chose. We told her no one was around to assist us. She then told me they didn't have tea available so I informed her I already paid. She left without saying another word and brought me a hot tea... she informed me they went out of their way to boil a new pot of water and I was not to ask for another. The service was slow, unkind and all in all horrible. The food was okay but I will not be going back. It was all in all an unpleasant and subpar food experience. Do not recommend. read more

C'mon already! There are no physical menus. We had to order through our phones & actually remind the very rude male bartender we even ordered. He was too busy attempting to make drinks & excessively mixing every single drink he made in his shaker. At one point he got combative with a customer who appeared to be giving him a compliment & that customer left while he bragged about the incident. We had to pay on an iPad, with no option for a reduced tip. Rumor had it that this p.ace was special, good service, good food and good service. My experience was a little different. SERVICE: At best ok, there was no dedicated server. Ordering was done at a counter on the way in to the restaurant, that person was also the server. Ordering could also be done @ the table using your phone. We initially ordered on the way in because they weren't busy at the time. During the meal we ordered drink refills it took quite awhile to get those drinks. Ordering split like this also caused billing problems on the way out. FOOD: I was disappointed with my order of chicken wings (6) @ soup. Wings had some flavor but could have used more of the seasoning. They were fried so you'd expect them to be hot that wasn't the case they were tepid at best. My soup was more of a chowder the broth was very thick, the cup was filled 3/4 full with partially cooked unpeeled potatoes. The soup was a bacon based soup its taste was full of bacon GREASE. I removed all the potatoes and was left with 3 spoons of thick broth. 2 pizzas were also not hot. They tasted very good . A prime rib sandwich arrived with the meat well done e en though we were told it would arrive at the desired doneness. The meat cut was on the thicker side but that and it being overcooked made the sandwich tougher than it should be and had no beef taste. Our bill for 3 adults and a 4yr old was $110. That seems a little expensive for a lunch at these prices they've pretty much cut out many families in this area. Overall it was OK I will not return and I would not recommend it to my friends. If your a family of 3 or 4 you better bring a credit card or carry a lot of cash. This restaurant is not family friendly nor is it friendly to those that are elderly and unfamiliar with technology. read more

Personally, when I go to dinner I want to be waited on. I understand the "new thing" is to scan and have the menu on your phone, but I found it really odd to also order and pay that way and have almost no interaction with the bartender. Apparently there are no servers, other than for cocktails I presume. When I tried to place my salad order on my phone, there was no option for any changes. I asked the bartender if I could have my salad without onions and his reply was "they are on the side so you can just take them off" and gave me a wave of his hand. I overheard another customer ask which sauce she should have on her chicken sandwich and the bartender's reply was "the sauces are listed on the menu, just choose one." The bartender was extremely unapproachable, other than cleaning glasses and busying himself behind the bar, I'm not sure what his role was. The food wasn't bad, but again, I want to be served when I go to a restaurant. I only support local establishments, and maybe this is the new trend, but I won't be returning to this one. read more

We had Garrett and Mike serving us tonight, they were both so friendly and overall fantastic. Garrett had such a positive and happy attitude, he was just a blast to be around. Mike was very knowledgeable and welcoming! The food, it was incredible. I got the roasted veggie pizza and it was a total flavor bomb. My husband made his own pizza and was so impressed with it. We are both born and raised New Yorkers so we definitely know a thing or two about pizza and this restaurant knows what they're doing with their craft pizza!! They are also extremely kid friendly! My 2 year old enjoyed her milk and cheese pizza and danced along to all the music playing. Let me start by saying the food was very good. The waitress was extremely polite. HOWEVER. When you force people to order online, the website should actually work. My mother had to ask me to order for her because what she wanted would not click. So she called and was told, rather rudely, that she would have to refresh and try again because they were too busy to take her order over the phone. So I tried the website. Same problem. So I called and got a different person who was very friendly and took the order. Again HOWEVER. Very loudly in the background I could hear a man say, rudely, "who is on the phone?" The helpful woman said she was taking an order. The rude man then said very loudly "She just called and I told her to do it online". Yeah, to my elderly mother, who was actually doing great. The website, not so much. I was going to try the restaurant this week myself, but not now. No food is good enough to tolerate that kind of "customer service". I hope the people in charge can figure out exactly who I am referring to in this review and correct his poor attitude. read more
