I went there on 30 May for a drink and watch the soccer game. I sat directly AT the bar in front of 2-3 bartenders. The whole time I was not acknowledged once. I noticed the bar staff were walking around me, serving customers behind me as well as reaching over me to service others before asking me if I wanted a drink. This went on for an hour. A couple beside me got their order of chicken strips and fries while I was sitting at the bar with nothing. I felt so left out and may never spend a dime at this place in the future. I'd like to lean to a higher review as I love that it had a large draught beer menu, including a couple of their own. The service was pretty good too. The menu was priced okay, just that my steak sandwich was just okay. I was asked how I wanted it cooked (medium rare), but it came out closer to medium well. I don't think the grill was hot enough as there wasn't any type of sear, so the colour and temperature of the meat was pretty similar all the way through. It wasn't bad and I think with fries was only about $20, but wasn't exceptional either. But I wouldn't hesitate to come back and certainly for drinks. read more

I came here with my partner and son to get some dinner after walking around the city for a few hours. It appeared our waiter was alone, and didn't even check in with us for at least 10 minutes. We didn't even get any water. We eventually placed our entire order, including our drinks. When food arrived, I was stunned at the lack of quantity of food. I ordered their salmon with vegetables and mashed potato. A total lack of flavour, the potatoes were the smallest mound I've ever seen. The steamed veggies were okay. My meal was supposed to come with beurre blanc sauce, and it didn't have any. My partner's veggie burger was supposed to come with roasted red peppers, and it had none. My son's tastes are far less developed, so his standards are well below those of an adult. The breading on his chicken tenders was terrific and crispy, but once again, extremely bland, little to no salt on anyone's food. My mango beer was very tasty and the only good part of the entire experience. However, the absolute clincher of this total crap fest was the large, dead cockroach in the bathroom I used. It's the very first door (out of 4) on the left, once you get into the dank basement. I went back upstairs, we paid and we left immediately. I don't begrudge our waiter at all, as he was alone for some time. I did see another waiter working eventually. I believe in tipping well as the wait staff don't have control over the quality of food, and this is one of the hardest, most thankless jobs. Sure, we could have complained and had our orders fixed, but that would take too long and it would still be bland and flavourless. The food was fine, just barely, but for nearly $100 after tip, very disappointing, and the horror in the bathroom ensures we won't be visiting ever again. Oh and before you make a comment about the roach: in 30+ years of visiting so many parts of Toronto to shop, eat and drink, I've never, ever seen one of these nasty !@#$-ers dead or alive in any bathroom in any food establishment. read more

We had some time to kill before a show at Lee's Palace and I'd been wanting to check out Crafty Coyote for ages, so popping in seemed like a no-brainer. We managed to snag a table near the front of the restaurant, and I began trying to find a beer to try from their massive list of on-tap brews. I asked our server if they did flights, which they do not, and then asked him to just recommend an IPA. He wound up getting me a very tasty, very unusual beer that I enjoyed the heck out of. We also wanted some food, so we wound up getting the Crafty Nachos ("Corn Tortilla Chips, Loaded with Aged Cheddar, Mozzarella, Green and Red Peppers, Jalapenos, Pico de Gallo, Sour Cream Guacamole, Homemade Three-Bean Dip, and Crafty's Salsa") and we got those with Beef added on. It's one top-notch plate of nachos. My biggest complaint with most plates of nachos is that they have far too many naked nachos thrown into the mix. With these, however, there were plenty of toppings on the whole plate. And the toppings were all really tasty, including that added Beef. The various sauces just took the plate over the top, ultimately. We also shared a plate of the House Signature Poutine ("Golden Fries, Oven Melted Cheese Curds, and Classic Brown Beef Gravy"), which was decent but nothing too special. And unlike the nachos, a bunch of the fries here were completely untouched by the cheese or gravy. I ordered a burger and fries from over here. The outdoor dining ambiance is very nice when the weather is good, and I'd recommend opting for that if it's available. WOW!!!!! This is my new favourite spot. I ended up here because the wait at the restaurant I had originally planned to eat at had an incredibly long wait. I am SO thankful this happened. I came in for brunch and ordered the egg & avocado breakfast. I, unfortunately, hate avocados and the waitress offered to swap it out for any side, so I replaced it with a pancake (they gave me two!!). They didn't have goat cheese and they offered any other type as a replacement but I can only eat goat cheese. Once again, I was allowed to swap it for anything so I got a side of sausages. Everything was AMAZING. I am so impressed. I read a previous review which said the pancakes weren't very good, but i have to disagree. They use real maple syrup and they are nice and light. The hot beans were awesome and not what I was expecting (baked beans). They're a little spicy and I really enjoyed them. I would recommend eating them with a spoon because they're a little thin and I ended up spilling them all over my shirt. Oops! The coffee is good too! Our waitress was very polite and attentive. When she saw I had spilled the beans on my shirt she brought me a wet nap right away. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone at any time. I specially liked the flights ($9.95)! The food was hit and miss - calamari fritti was ok - some veg were delish (calamari & cauliflower) while others flopped (sweet potato/carrot?). I came here tonight with my fiancée for date night - watched the Raptor's game over some drinks. Been meaning to come here for a while as it always appears to be buzzing year round, an apparent go to hangout in the Annex area. Had a really nice vibe and ambiance. It was packed (actually left and came back; luckily a table for two had opened up). They have TVs to watch sports, a robust drink menu and a plentiful food menu. While I didn't eat anything the food looked and smelled good (especially the fish and chips!) I had a Cesar - suppppper spicy but tasty ($7.95) and my fiancée had a wheat beer that was also very good. Definitely a good hangout spot for an evening or weekend drink. It has a really good beer and cider list, meh food, and a nice staff. They make an effort but it ain't a home run. The La Chouffe Strong Belgian Blonde Ale arrived first in a cute beer glass that had an elf figure on it. This Belgian strong ale was very smooth and slightly sweet like honey. I really liked it and its smoothness. While waiting for our seafood board to arrive, I noticed their selection of many beers on tap at the bar and got curious about the namesake of the restaurant, Crafty Coyote. My curiosity got the best of me and I ordered a pint of it. It arrived in a plain standard beer glass and I was underwhelmed by it at first. However, it was a very light lager that tasted like a decent beer and it went down easily. Soon, our Grilled Seafood Board arrived. It was really nice and plentiful to share! There were crispy grilled salmon, jumbo prawns saganaki, baby squid, creamy mash, and asparagus. Both of us were really impressed and satisfied with this Grilled Seafood Board. Everything on it was done so well! The best item were the baby squid which were seasoned with pepper and lemon chipotle which gave it a slight heat. Its truly best part was how fresh and smooth it tasted; it wasn't rough or chewy at all. I gave it a 10 out of 10. It was so impressive. The creamy mashed potatoes were perfectly tasty as well. The asparagus was fresh and juicy. The jumbo prawns sat in a dish with saganaki sauce with what looked like feta cheese in it. The prawns were pretty good and firm too. The grilled salmon was prepared nicely and moist enough. I used the saganaki sauce to eat with the salmon for more flavour. read more

Unlike some negative reviews posted here, I had a great one. We were greeted upon arrival on a Sunday evening, had a table outside. It was quiet and not crowded at all. Our servant Alex seemed knowledgeable about beers and was attentive. Didn't order any food except the sweet potato fries, they were crunchy and OK ish I'd say. It was 8.95$. the service was quick and the draught beer list is big compared to many other places in town. 32 beers on tap including ciders and some more bottle selection too. Beer prices are between 5$ to 8$. Pretty much on the same level as other pubs and beer places. One last thing, the music was not loud at all, it let people converse casually too, a luxury many pubs are lacking these days. read more

After checking Yelp we were kind of hesitant as it didn't have a very high rating but we looked at the menu anyway and decided to go in. Alex was our server and was very attentive and nice, he made a great beer recommendation from their huge list of beer on tap (30+ i think?) and we both had the farmers burger. This place has a pretty impressive selection of beers, at least to someone like me, a beer non-enthusiast. I selected the first cider that caught my attention. That turned out to be the pumpkin spice cider, which tasted exactly like a regular apple cider to me... The wait staff is very friendly and attentive and the pub food is pretty good. The sweet potato fries are extra crispy. I do have to mention, after a couple sips of my drink, a small fruit fly chose my drink as its final resting place. I told the waiter and he replaced my drink with a new one which is really nice of them. They dealt with this situation the best they could, but it still made me a bit paranoid about every bite/sip after. read more

My cousin came into town to visit and we decided to try a random place neither of us had been before. It was nice when we came in, there wasn't a server to greet us but one came by pretty quickly after we sat down. We decided to split the chicken strips, fries, and nachos. Definitely not a great idea because we didn't realize how large the portions were, but that was certainly a plus for the restaurant! We got A LOT of nachos and fries for only ~$16. We both loved the fries and the nachos were good too. I feel like sometimes nachos can be great at restaurants and sometimes they can be meh, but these were pretty good. There were a lot of toppings and a huge portion for only $11.95. However, the serving size was so big I feel like they gave us a large by mistake. If that size portion wasn't a large, I fear for whoever does get the large, seriously. We were a little disappointed with the chicken strips. They were the same price as the nachos but a really small portion. There were only 4-5 or something like that. They were really sweet which could be good or bad depending on your tastes. They would be a good thing to order if you didn't want to commit suicide via sheer food volume, though. I'd give the chicken strips 5.5/10. We also got a pitcher of white sangria. Neither of us had had white sangria before so we can't compare it to anything else but it was pretty good. Sort of strong and the apples in it were tasty. Overall we had a good experience. It was sort of loud although we didn't really notice until we were leaving - but if you don't like loud restaurants you might not like it. It's also pretty small. Really perturbed about our experience here tonight. We love the place after our soccer game for the wide selection of great craft beers. Food is decent. And decent value as well. Tonight our server charged us a large group(only 6 of us?) automatic gratuity of about 24%...and failed to tell any of us but one guy whom he told when he went up to the bar to ask for his bill because our server wasn't really checking in on us that much. He just brought the machine as usual and we just punched in our generous 18-20% tip as usual without even noticing. I ended up leaving around $18 gratuity on a $35 pre-tax bill. I feel violated. Most of the people I was with tonight felt the same. Not sure if we'll return for our weekly post game beers and food after this scam. read more

We went to Crafty Coyote last night after visiting the awesome Casa Loma Christmas Lights display, an outdoor event that was well worth the visit - we wanted a craft beer place we could walk to, and this came up on our app. We were impressed by everything - the service was excellent, lots of good choices of beer (my husband likes IPAs while I like sours or non-beer tasting beer if that makes sense or stouts). I ordered a tasting flight, which we enjoyed. We found vegetarian options on the menu; we ordered the beyond meat burger (fries were great!) and tacos made with breaded cauliflower were beyond my expectation! This is how vegetarian food should taste. We also ate an exceptional lentil soup although it was made with chicken, maybe chicken broth as there were no chicken pieces in it. I was a frequent Victory Cafe (owner also owns Crafty Coyote) customer until I came with my dad who has a mobile disability. I politely mentioned to the owner that he should consider a ramp instead of stairs to the patio, allowing a more accessible entrance. He got very defensive and continued to argue with me that it's a fire hazard and you need a permit to be wheelchair accessible. This is absolutely not true and ramps are not a fire hazard. I was extremely disappointed and will not be returning. Not only that, once I brought this up to Facebook, the owner personally attacked me and said that I need to help my dad more and am only around him for his pension. read more

Came here with my boyfriend on Boxing Day. They have a good selection of craft beer and ciders that are displayed right on the wall. The server was super friendly and explained the numbers beside the beer and cider explain how it tastes, which is super helpful! We ordered the tacos and the poutine for food. The tacos come in a set of three but you can order more tacos on the side. The tacos do need to be all the same kind though so keep that in mind when ordering. We ordered three chicken tacos and 1 fish taco. Both the fish taco and the chicken tacos were delicious they are a bit spicy due to having jalepenos in them. The server asked how hungry we were when we ordered the the poutine because it was a big portion and she was not kidding! The portion was huge but the poutine was very flavourful and delicious, I would definitely go back for the poutine alone. The server was very friendly and knowledgeable and the food came pretty quickly. Great casual place for a date night or a hang out with friends. I already have plans to go back again. read more

The dishes look amazing! But doesn't' taste any good! It was 60 minutes after our intensive workout and 6 hours since lunch and we were all drooling looking at all the yummy dishes that were coming out. The squid looked good, nachos looked good, burgers looked very artisan, but three of us settles on the lobster grilled cheese. It looked SOOO good my friend wouldn't want to split half with me so we both ordered the lobster grilled cheese. Mistake mistake! When ours came out it looked good but the taste was a different story. One side was crispy and the other was soggy on the centre. Some cheese inside wasn't even melted and it wasn't even hot. And the worst was that they added ketchup, strong sweet flavour ketchup with the sandwich which killed the subtle taste of lobster. Genius! The place was also too noisy to hear anything your friends are trying to yell at you. I just smile and nodded at the girl across from me as she tells me the story of her fun job working in other countries or was it about the destitute of her civil war torn country. Either way next time I see her I'll just pretend we never met before. PS There was no AC, yes it was 36 degrees yesterday which was a couple degrees cooler than inside! Went with a group of friends. First thing is the AC. It was either not on, or they left a patio door open because it was too hot in there. It was Friday around 35°c so that was unfortunate. It was my first time there, so I have no idea if it's usually that hot in there. Hopefully not! The food looks really good, so they get points presentation.. My friend had the burger and said it was good. Another had this enormous nacho platter. A few of us got lobster grilled cheese, but was a really disappointing experience for me and 2 others. The sauce just completely overpowered the lobster. It had this tangy bbq kind of taste that's too strong for lobster, and the cheese wasn't fully melted, so it was unprepared. I think it was just a busy night. I'd recommend they change that and go with a cream, garlic or an aoili sauce that just compliments the lobster a lot better. I think that would improve the dish significantly. The staff is fine. They always walk by so you can call one over, so the service was actually ok, but they need to tweak the dish I had because it doesn't do this place justice as it is now. It can be much better than it is, since the dish I had sounds so good. The sweet potato fries were done nicely and I liked the Chipotle mayo, but that would've sucked if they somehow messed that up. If you go, just don't get the lobster grilled cheese. Get the burger or nacho platter. Looks better and my friends liked the burgers. Most of the experience is measured by comfort and taste, and the AC and my order just really took it down. It's really noisy at night, but it's a decent late night bar environment - just not great for catching up with a bunch a friends. I heard the beer selection is good.
