They allow you to sample the beers if you request to get a sense of what you may like. For food, the menu offered an assortment of pub-type options and I opted for a bunless chicken cheesesteak. The bar staff is incredibly friendly and the service is quick. Sounded like there were a few regulars in as well and they seemed to have a good time joking about it. Plenty of space inside, and the ambiance is perfect for a night out with groups. If you are going there for service good luck. The bartenders tend to ignore you especially the one (male brown hair) . Seems over the last couple years the service has declined and no one cares. It use to to be my go to stop for drinks and a quick dinner but the service has because lousy and the attitude of people who work there is terrible. Given its distance to where I work, I usually find a reason to visit the Brickhouse at least once every other week for a cold one. They have a decent craft selection in bottles. So when I heard they were taking their large dining space next store and converting it to a Craft Taproom I was thrilled. I checked it out opening night and was satisfied. I think they had 20 different crafts on tap. You still have access to the bottle selection as well, so you are bound to find what you are looking for. It wasn't too difficult to get a bartenders attention while I was there, but I did leave relatively early. I'll be back and confirm, but based on my experiences with Brickhouse, service won't be an issue. Net-Net. Beer loves, especially craft hunters, should have a solid new home. read more

Crafty's is a strange spot. We originally stopped last night for a quick meal. We entered through Brickhouse but were told to dine at Crafty's. First off it was extremely warm in the restaurant. The AC didn't feel like it was on at all. It was really uncomfortable. They don't really have servers, ours was the bartender. She was pleasant but not very personable. Everything comes out on paper plates or baskets. We started with the mozzarella sticks. They were your typical frozen stuff, nothing special. For entrees we both had wraps. I went chicken Italian and my wife had the veggie. Both were just okay and extremely hot. Like too hot! Couldn't even handle them for the first few minutes. I personally think they were microwaved, they were that hot. Both wraps were also dripping liquid like crazy. The food also came out super fast. Within 8 minutes, now it's not a bad thing but it makes me wonder. All sandwiches come with chips and they don't sub for fries. We had to order an entire basket. We also tried the French onion soup. Stopped in for a quick lunch. Once again friendly service and pleasant atmosphere. Tried the crafty's fries and they were awesome - a definite recommend! Update. 9-4-16 Had to take away a star for several reasons tonight. Hoping it was a freak thing - or because of the time we came... but this is not the service we have come to expect from craftys. #1. On a beautiful evening the doors were open and window as well. Nice if there weren't smokers directly outside filling the bar with smoke; making the dining unenjoyable. #2 at 7pm there were already intoxicated patrons cussing and being loud #3 crafty fries not the same quality as usual - smaller in size. Gravy skimpy and fries came out soggy. Then the main problem: our waitress. Or lack thereof. We were served by the bartender, who appeared to be the only staff in the dining area making this a management issue rather than a personal server issue. It was not overly busy or crowded yet we sat for awhile before she came to our table. She did not come back to the table to check if we needed anything or refill our drinks. With twenty taps open at any given time, their beer list is impressive. In fact, you can find almost anything you're looking for here. They keep a good variety rolling in and often being out some nice seasonal brews as well. Their prices are average for craft beer pints in the Northeast, and if you want you can order some food from the Brick House kitchen next door. Their food is good enough pub food but nothing great. Expect the usuals you'd think of on their food menu. I have to say the atmosphere here is a bit strange. There is rarely anyone here, ever! You can actually get a seat at the bar on a Saturday night, a feat that is nearly impossible anywhere else in the city. Normally this would be a good thing, but something feels a little off here. The staff are good at their job but obviously seem a bit bored, and are probably miffed that they didn't get to tend bar over at Brick House instead, with its many loyal patrons. Crafty's is always dead, so even for the customer it can feel a little creepy. I give them props for their beer list, and also for being unique in their neck of the woods. Really confused because we entered an establishment called "Crafty's Tap Room" at 3332 Grant Avenue, but our check says we dined at Brickhouse Bar & Grill. It bears the 3332 address, but Yelp (and their own website) says Brickhouse is at 3334, not 3332. So I'm not sure where we actually ate. I am assuming these are adjacent businesses run by the same owner. In any event the food was mediocre bar food. Total check for two came out to $37.97. That included a cider on tap, iced tea, a stuffed portabella, a side of fries, a small cup of chili and a BLT. So the price isn't over the top, but the food was just meh all around. Also as others have noted, it seems like a significant portion of the day the place is run without waitstaff, so you end being waited on by the bartender. This leads to some mediocre service, though perhaps not at the fault of the employee who is expected to handle the whole establishment alone. read more

I like the staff, and I like the owner. I like the decor. The bathrooms are clean. The beer selection is very eclectic. I usually discover a good beer or two whenever I come here. The food is quite good. I hate to write this online, because it's going to hurt my chances of getting food quickly if they become too popular, but this is hands down the best pizza in Northeast Philadelphia. There is no contest. I would say Vince's Pizza a little farther down Grant Avenue, while quite good, is a distant second place. So, two reasons why I'm only giving it 4 stars... It's a shared kitchen with the Brick House, but when I take food out, I can't order the pretzels if I go to the takeout counter (located between Crafty's and the Brick House). I need those pretzels, guys! Please add them onto the take out menu. There are a lot of younger families around this neighborhood. Maybe not quite hipsters, but people who like to drink weird beers and who also sometimes have kids with them. They really should add a high chair or two to the dining room. I won't be able to stop my boy from running straight at your giant Jenga set if you don't get me a high chair for him! You've been warned. He will not reset the pieces. He is a menace. They have local options (Yards, NCBC, DFH), as well as solid selections from Stone, Founders, etc. No macro stuff here. Seems they're trying to keep all those at Brick House next door. My husband and two cousins went yesterday. It's nice in there, great atmosphere, clean and comfortable. I ordered the chicken Caesar salad. It was good with fresh croutons that were crunchy and soft enough to bite into easily which I like. The only thing is that it was drowning in dressing. The rest of our party was pleased with their food as well. They have a ton of craft beers on tap which made my husband extremely happy. His only problem was deciding on which ones to order! We DID have a bad experience here however the management has rectified it. I'll just paste my original review and the owners response. Since our visit which wasn't the best we've been here twice for date night. Great management is just as good as a great place to eat! I've never given a bad review or any review actually but our service was so bad yest that I'm compelled to write about it. Our waitress didn't approach us and was just chatting up with ppl at the other end of the bar. When she did come over she wasn't friendly and almost appeared annoyed that she had to stop her convo and wait on other patrons. My husband had to locate and grab menus himself because she never asked if we were eating, just plopped our beer down and off to the other end of the bar she went. (we tried to alert her twice and the ppl to our left did also but the other end of the bar was more entertaining) We ordered two apps and a pork roll sandwich and we received an app that we didn't order. I need to specify that although she was bartending alone, it was NOT busy at 3:30 on a Sun. With that said, we will attempt another visit because service comes second to food, atmosphere and the beverage list IMO. It's close to home, the tap list is great, I loved my flight ,the menu (when you grab one yourself) is pretty awesome and the food was pretty good for bar dining. (I ordered mozz sticks but somehow got the crab stuffed cucumber that was surprisingly tasty so she gets a point mistakingly) There's a lot of interesting choices that gives Craftys a "downtown" feel in the NE. Im sorry our service was bad, otherwise it would be an easy 5 star review. Friends were joining us but we called them to stay put at Bar Louie and we'd join them! I don't expect an over the top friendly server but this experience was BAD. But I still tipped 20% because maybe she was having a crappy day(we all have them!) and I've just never tipped less. Went here for the very first time. The food was fantastic. We had the fried deviled eggs and Buffalo chicken for starters. They were delicious. Best selection of beer in the NE. I usually have the buffalo chicken pizza and it is delicious. The owner or his wife are always around checking the vibe of the crowd. The waitstaff are attentive and know the menu enough to recommend (deviled eggs were great). I like to go here in the afternoon at times with my girlfriend and her kids. They love the oversized games and we split the nachos. Don't fool yourself though - this place exists to satisfy any beer snob .... me included. read more

The setting and beer selection are great. The food is good for bar food but won't blow you away. The setting is great in that it's a quiet calm bar where you can sit down and appreciate one of their 20 craft beers on the menu. I've been here 3 times, had 3 good meals and 3 different beer menus, all 3 meals I have left happy. This has become one of our favorite bars in the Northeast. The beer list is well thought-out and constantly changing. It's also not typically super crowded, which is nice. Good music selection, and great, friendly bartenders. The bar food and pizza (especially Stromboli) are also decent, but we tend to just come in for drinks. Plus, you gotta love the giant Connect 4, Jenga, and bubble hockey. All around great spot in Northeast Philly. read more

I love this place and I have been here several times. Mike the Bartender is AWESOME and very friendly. However the women bartenders are mean and rude. The last time I was at Crafty's there were 2 girl bartenders they were equally rude. They are not friendly and seemed almost annoyed that you dare to order something. The time that I was there before this one, the girl was so rude to my friend that we left. The next time I go back I will make sure Mike is working or I won't go in. read more

It seems nice but is a really strange atmosphere. It pretends to be a fancier bar than it's neighbor, brick house, but is pretty much the same thing with less people. One bartender does all the work like serving tables and taking bar orders and some are pleasant but many times they look overwhelmed and pissed and sometimes insulting for simply ordering. I think this is due to overwork but some handle that better than others. So this fails for customer service. The people around the bar are mostly obnoxious and often say racist things out loud but nobody seems to care. Food is mostly gross too. Beer is obviously their thing but if you feel like the staff is stressed and going crazy, what's the point? Go somewhere else. Craft beer can be had elsewhere. read more

Crafty's is awesome! I'm actually glad that Northeast Philly gets a bad rap from the cool kids who just moved to the city from NJ and the Main Line because it keeps them herded in their little pens of self-admiration in Fishtown, E Passyunk, etc. As a result, wonderful hidden gems like Crafty's have the same great food and drink and much more down to earth crowds. So while the CC hip crowd for some odd reason chooses to spend $10 for a plate of fries at a monstrosity like Frankie Bradley's, seasoned Philadelphians who have graduated to the "get off my lawn" demographic can have a nice table, listenable conversation, and better food and drink for much less money and headache. Come to Crafty's and enjoy the excellent beer and delicious, reasonably priced bar food that would cost you twice as much in the idiotville of 13th and Walnut. read more
