SO this was a yelp special! My friends and I do a monthly dinner but the only rule is no chain restaurants (open to any suggestions). Went on yelp, found this place, and was pleasantly surprised. Walking in the sports bar was a little tight and packed but from the dining room in the back you couldn't hear any of the noise. Rylie was our server and she was the absolute perfect server for us. We are goofballs on a good day and a walking circus troupe on others. She laughed with us, gave us drink and appetizer suggestions, helped my indecisive behind pick and entree, and quickly became part of the family. She is the type of server that you come back to a place just to see. We love you RY ; We even got to meet the chef Al, the man responsible for the kick ass brisket tacos that our group is still talking about a week later. They have added an outside patio with garage doors. It is the nicest part of the whole place. The parking lot is full of trash and cigarette butts. Bad impression on the way in. The floor in the main dinning room is pulling apart and is duct taped together. The chairs and tables are flimsy and falling apart. I asked for a blood orange margarita as it was the special of the day. It was not drinkable. It was some sort of powder or mix that was so sour and overly sweet. It did not have any tequila in it. I literally took one sip and left it there. The cheesesteak was good on a seeded roll. It was ribeye and it was done well. Hence tge two stars. The bbq platter had brisket, pulled chicken, ribs, corn and Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was the best thing on the platter. The pulled chicken was sitting in a bowl of grease. The brisket was big globs of fat. The ribs were okay. They put a tiny line of sauce on each item. The service was rushed and spotty. I had heard good things, so we decided to give it a try. Very disappointed. There are so many good places around this area now, there is no need to go here again. read more

Went here for drinks after work with a few coworkers. We sat at a table off of the bar. The bartender was nice, she came over and took our order and brought us our drinks. About 15 min go by and a waitress comes over to take our order. She was anything but pleasant, and seemed irritated that we weren't ordering meals. We were there for a few drinks and some appetizers, when we placed our food order we received a "that's it" response with an attitude. Also parking is a complete mess. I parked to the left of the building when I arrived, the lot was fairly empty. When I left it was near impossible to get my car out of the spot because apparently parking along side of the building is also permitted. Overall the appetizers and drinks were great though. read more

Fireside Inn is a small bar tucked away off the main roads in Trevose. I haven't visited the Fireside in years and my recent experience was a letdown. The bartender was very friendly, the bar (still decorated from Christmas and New Years) was festive, but the back dining area was cluttered and didn't look presentable or ready for patrons, the men's room was a sticky, stinky mess and my pulled pork had a huge chunk of fat in it. All is not lost though, the bartender told me a former employee bought the place and help was on the way. I suppose the old owners were giving up so hopefully the new owners clean (a lot) and get this place back to where it was. I remember visiting years ago and you could smell smoke from the delicious BBQ, the craft beer list was respectable and the food/service were great. Their current menu had a great mix of bar/dining options. Mussels, clams casino, crab, shrimp, scallops for seafood offerings, several types of burgers, sandwiches and wings. The app list has over a dozen items, there are over nine dinner choices and a small kids menu. BBQ wise I was told they'll stick with the staples: Ribs, pulled pork and brisket. Smoked wings won't be on the menu nor will smoked chicken, but Daytona Wings (typically fried wings tossed in sauce and then grilled) are available. The beer list sadly had been whittled down to the basics with some local craft added. That was a bit of a letdown, but we'll see what the new owners vision is on that. I ordered a Smoked Pulled Pork at $12.25. The sandwich comes with slaw on top. Overall, I enjoyed the flavors, but the construction was a mess. The meat wasn't "pulled" very well so the portions of pork were on the larger side, which may have been a reason for missing the chunk of fat I had to pull out. The quantity of meat on the sandwich was good (minus the fat) as was the sauce, but that made for a drippy mess so plenty of napkins were required. The side of were ok as were the pickle slices. In it's current condition I would pass on bringing my family here, but I hope over time the new ownership gives the Fireside a makeover with lots of TLC to bring this place up to speed. read more

I've never been to the Fireside, although I lived down the street. I went with a friend and was excited to be trying some place I've never been. We had to walked into the bar area to get to the dining area. It is a small room with a fireplace, and it's summer, so it was closed off with high chairs and other things in front of it, which was not very attractive. The room was dark, meaning there was not a lot of sunlight, and it was summer, so it was a little depressing. I ordered one of the specials: Parmesan-crusted tilapia over Casio e Pepe Pasta, Black Pepper, Olive Oil, and Pecorino Romano. Sounds delicious, right? Not so. The presentation was not as I had expected. I was unaware everything was fried, so I thought how sad they ruined what appeared on the menu to be a fabulous dish. I tried and sent it back for their Macaroni and Cheese, which was very good. My friend had the Meat Platter, which he said was fair. The waitress was great and told us it's under new ownership, so I'll try again in a few months and see if they have improved their menu. I recommend this place if you want to watch a game and have a beer, but not the restaurant. The restaurant needs a good chef with great ideas! Atmosphere Leave the kids at home. This facility is a bar and not a place to bring a child to. From what i saw, there were no ramps for a wheelchair. Some low steps that somebody might assist a wheelchair bound individual. The big con: It was pricey! Half rack or ribs, order of scallops, 2 crocks onion soup, iced tea & soda...$64. with tip. We've been coming here for years, and I find myself surprised I had not posted a review to date. This place is my jam. When you want to break away, grab a beer & happy hour apps, and unwind... this is your spot! The staff are super friendly, personable and very welcoming. We usually get happy hour apps; our go-to's are the spicy shrimp, beef egg rolls, beef (brisket) sliders, fries. Over the years we've tried many others, and you really can't go wrong. The ribs are marinated really well and are super tasty!! We'll now add that to our staple order. They have a nice selection of beers which hit the spot on a Summer's day. The patrons that frequent this place are interesting, come from all walks of life, and there's always a story to be had. Sit quiet and you'll over hear anything from current events to personal stories. On the outdoor patio, people are generally friendly and open dialogue across tables. read more

Pretty good smokehouse for the bucks county area. Dated building with gravel parking. Small bar in the front of the house with two TVs and a small dining area adjacent to the bar. There is also an outside bar that is open seasonally. Wings, burgers and loaded fries are the winners here as well as their friendly bartenders. read more

No real complaints. The beer list here is impressive, and thanks to the bar up front I could see coming here for just a drink. That being said, I think the food is pretty good too, and it's worth coming for more than the booze. You can usually judge a barbecue joint on its brisket, and the brisket here is a nice consistency with just the right amount of sauce. I got the BBQ Mac sandwich and it was as decadent as it sounds (Mac and cheese with brisket on Texas toast). Other dining partners got the kielbasa and prime rib; everyone seemed to love their dish. Fireside is a great little local spot I found with a friend. The food is all actually quite delicious, and they have happy hour drink and food specials. I ordered the brisket sliders, and cheesesteak egg rolls. They were both fresh and made in house. I probably didn't need both appetizers as the servings were pretty decent size, but I was glad to have both. The staff is friendly, quick, and attentive. I've since been back, and plan to add this in my group of local nightspots to visit. read more

A quaint hole-in-the-wall sort of place. When you first arrive here, you'll notice that there are many doors around the building. I didn't exactly know which one was the front door, so after a few trial-and-error attempts, I finally made it in. (Also of note, there are signs posted on the many doors that say that the minimum to use a card here is $25, among the highest requirements I have ever seen to use a card, and I have no idea why. I'd have normally automatically knocked the place down a notch for that. But... not gonna do that for this review.) When you make it into the place, you will notice a bar area in the front, and a restaurant area in the back. We were just here for some lunch grub on a Sunday, and not the drinks, so we sat in the restaurant area. We were seated promptly upon arriving. We ordered an appetizer to share: the blackened shrimp tacos. They were by far my favorite dish of the night! Shrimp was cooked really wonderfully and had amazing seasoning and spices on it. I didn't absolutely love the large pineapple chunks in the taco, but I just took some of them out. For our mains we had the A to Z burger with a side of French fries and the crab cake sandwich. I have to say that the crab cake sandwich made me leery to begin with - expecting decent quality seafood from what appears to be a dive bar. Well, I was correct on that. The burger, which was covered with pulled pork, cheddar, fried pickles, and crispy onions was really good! The attempt at a medium rare cook on the meat was decent. Honestly, the hot and crispy fries were my favorite. On the other hand, the crab cake sandwich was not nearly as good. It was the worst thing I tried. The first plate came out with a burnt crab cake and no sauce. (The menu says that there should be a remolaude sauce on the sandwich.) The sandwich was remade, and while not burnt the second time around, did NOT come with a remolaude sauce. It was an unpleasant, unidentifiable sauce. Remolaude sauce is not typically white. It leads me to believe that no one really ever orders the crab cake sandwich, and thus no one in the kitchen knew how to make the remolaude sauce. All in all, a decent place to grab a bite. Probably wouldn't recommend anything related to seafood here except for the shrimp tacos. I'd definitely come back for the tacos, and maybe to try some of the other weeknight specials. read more

Fireside Smokehouse is the current incarnation of this old tavern down on Elmwood Avenue in Trevose, Pa. It has been run by one family since 1978, and they certainly know what they are doing adapting to changing tastes and fads to remain a solid choice for a hearty meal and a load of suds options. First impressions are that Fireside has three personalities - a front room dive bar full of locals enjoying the broad beer list and a few eating something meaty from the grill; a simple dining room with a dozen tables, and outside patio enclosed in canvas and plastic for cold weather, with a few picnic tables and service bar. The front bar was the most crowded and with the most attitude. Our server told us to sit anywhere and came back to us quickly for drink orders. Menus were already on every table. Two pages of beer options took a few, but we settled on Limbo IPA and Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale drafts. Cool and smooth going down. Son opted for a pulled pork sandwich with chips. He liked it, but has had better flavor. Too, there was no sauce on the table for added moisture and taste. The grilled salmon was a small steak, but fresh and nicely done. The spinach and slaw sides were forgettable. My chicken & rib combo put a heavy plate with 6 ribs and quarter bird before me. They were both covered with the house BBQ sauce, a deep amber red. The meat easily pulled from the bone and tasted of a good rub, long smoke and twangy sauce. Really liked it, and they were so loaded that I ate three, gave two away and brought one home along with the untouched clucker. The baked beanz were great and the mashed would have been too with a spoon of gravy or sauce on top. Fireside is a solid choice for basic BBQ in a down home environment. It's nothing fancy, just serious meat overload and strong fermentation possibilities. Put a few table rockets of Memphis, St.Louis, Carolina, along with the house slather in front of me, bring the ribs out dry for me to doctor the way I want, polish up the sides a bit, and this smokehouse would be seeing stars. read more

We almost didn't order food from here (via DoorDash) because of the reviews, but we took a chance. My fiance, who is VERY picky about his BBQ, got the smoked ribs platter. He said they were the best smoked ribs he's ever had (and this is coming from someone who's had tons of Kansas City BBQ and also traveled a lot around the world and gets BBQ a lot). I am not sure what other people are eating but he made it a point to tell me to leave a review for this place because he thinks it's exceptional. So - get the short ribs, maybe? ;) read more

Where good food, cheap drinks, a sports bar and bookies abound... When I saw all the gents, both young and old drinking straight from their beer bottles, I knew a wine list was out of the question. But they have a Tiki bar, a large patio that allows smoking and a fairly huge inside bar that does not, but you had better claim your seat early, because the place is packed by mid-afternoons on weekends! I've lived in this area for years and have passed the Fireside Beef & Ale numerous times, it blends in with the surrounding homes and buildings and does not scream at you to stop, our server Laurie said that so many people that stop in say the same thing. Dorothy, aka Dot owns the Fireside which has been around for many years, she and her son cooks up a delicious storm and hand delivers it right to your table. I'm not going to paint a perfect picture, since you walk into the large bar area, no one greets you, I followed my nose to the end of the bar and found the daily specials board and then proceeded into the small dining room, with maybe six tables and a smaller bar, but a beautiful old fireplace. Still no one there, other than two other tables happily eating and one with a huge pitcher of beer and two frosted mugs, I grabbed our menus and silverware and we seated ourselves. We ordered our drinks and scoured the menu and kept seeing that every thing was made from scratch and it ran every aspect of the spectrum for culinary delights! When you hear what we ordered you will now understand that I am in fact not only a foodie, but a yelp whore, just so I can give a full fledged report! Clams casino will rock your socks off, absolutely outstanding tender clams with the most flavorful fillers of spices, sweet peppers and onions, seriously some of the best we have had, you can order three, six or twelve, we went for the dozen which kept us friendly, $14.95. The Fireside sampler was a sampling of two homemade whole jalapenos stuffed with cheddar cheese, hand breaded with Italian seasonings and panko and again, they were the best poppers I have ever popped into my mouth. Hubby is a sissy when it comes to hot peepers and I always laugh when he is afraid to even eat a jalapeno, he ate the other popper and then picked up the last of mine! I wanted to smack his fingers as he grinned over that win and new found freedom. The Fireside sampler also had homemade chicken tenders and we are talking two of the largest 'tenders" I have ever seen in my life, perfectly battered and fried to a crispy golden brown with tender white meat. Hello, I'm not finished with this plate yet, so we have two stuffed jalapenos, two huge chicken tenders, two hand cut thick pieces of mozzarella coated in that fabulous Italian breading and a homemade empanado that was simply delicious! Guess how much, go ahead and guess... $7.95! Hubby had a cheeseburger and loved it, fresh and hand formed and Laurie had said they were known for their burgers and hand cut fries, which were crisp, not at all limp and I took my share. I had the daily special, which was a lobster pot pie, a very large portion topped with baked phyllo, but the potatoes and carrots dominated the casserole, with small tidbits of lobster and a light sprinkling of sherry in a good sauce that would have been outstanding if the lobster dominated it and the potatoes were less and for me to say less potatoes means something, since I do love my spuds. $15.95 There are so many other things I would love to go back for, their turkey wrap and cheesesteak at one table made me drool and the crab and chicken quesadiallas at another made me envious, yes I am known for snooping! Plus their tequila shrimp sounded so enticing, but the sauce was still not ready for the dish to be served, sounds potent.. They have homemade comfort foods like meat loaf with mashed potatoes and gravy and they roast pork and beef for sandwiches, they have an all you can eat crab leg or prime rib night and a fourteen ounce rib eye for $14.95. Bottom line on this one folks, they have won the Best Pub food in Buck's County, the food is all made from scratch, they are people friendly, the prices are so low, the food is over the top, I'm going back, so what do you say? One of the few local restaurants in our area that are open for dine in (you have to call for a reservation). I would give 5 stars but the place is a bit dated and floors can be dirty (this mom of 2 is a bit particular, especially in this pandemic) HOWEVER, the food is great! The steaks were fantastic, as was the bratwurst pretzels which the kids enjoyed, the mustard sauce the went along with it was what the adults-including me-devoured. It can be pretty crowded but hey, can't fault them for serving great food with a nice selection of beer. I would recommend! read more

Good lord - where do I begin with this place?! To call it a dive would be an insult to dive bars...This place is an absolute dump! I sat down at the bar to have a few beers and read a book - but was either distracted by defending my drink from the copious amounts of flies swarming the indoor bar area or interrupted by the overly obnoxious brand of clientele this venue seemed to attract. I figured I can't pass judgement on a restaurant without trying their menu so I ordered an appetizer then went to the restroom...Big mistake, the facilities were so disgusting, like an absolute dumpster fire that was neglected and maybe cleaned once a month...by the time I returned back my food arrived and it was solidly sub par, flavor was just bleh and presentation was non-existent. The cherry on my evening was when another older gentleman came into the bar and ordered a glass of Cabernet, the bartender starts rummaging around in the ice box rambling off a bunch of whites (like one would expect) and the gentleman, having the patience of a saint, asks a leading question of "perhaps there's something under the cabinet?" to which the bartender starts reading off a a few reds and the man interrupts her at the first chance and says "I'll take the merlot" to which the bartender replies, "ok, but it won't be cold" - the gentleman exchanges a glance with me as if to say, am I taking crazy pills?! But calmly replies "it's a red, I wouldn't want it if it were chilled". Anyhow that was the only highlight of my entire experience at this establishment...Anyhow my point is this - if you're looking for a venue in which the bar and kitchen staff have the culinary prowess of a toddler then i highly recommend this spot, if you're looking for a step above that, then might I recommend Chuck E. We usually eat in the bar for lunch. Tried a local beer, pretty good. Both times everything was tasty. The day we went they had chili, fish chowder and onion soup. I had the chowder, not sure what fish was used but it was good. My favorite is a appetizer called bam bam shrimp. I have had the wedge salad and the portion is good. This is only our second time and both were pleased with our lunch. The bar keeper is also the wait staff for the bar. I don't know about the dining room since we have only eaten in the bar. I was disappointed with the men's room lack of cleanliness. Both towel dispensers were broke with one left open so you could rip off a piece of paper to dry your hands. During Covid you would think the bathroom would be immaculate. However I give the kitchen props for preparing great food. read more

Upon our arrival, I had mixed feelings about this place and was pleasantly surprised. We ordered the sampler as an appetizer. The Redneck egg rolls ( pork, cheese, and coleslaw)were amazing. I am not a fan of pork either. The sampler also came with wings in a chipotle- grapefruit sauce that was also good, but tasted heavily of apple cider vinegar. For a main course I had the bbq brisket sandwich, and it was phenomenal. My husband ordered the brisket cheesesteak with cornbread. I requested a bite of this and it was absolutely amazing!!! This was our 2nd time visiting this hidden gem. The food is so good, comes out of the kitchen piping hot! Service was a little slow, seemed there was only one girl working the entire dining area, on a Friday night at dinner time, seemed a little overwhelming for her. We really don't have any complaints about this place... definitely try to go during Happy Hour M-F 4-7pm, the prices are pretty awesome and you get huge portions.
