I can't say how much I enjoyed being with real elephants at such close quarters and being able to…read moretouch them too... As a child, I have seen real elephants in old temples, they don't have them anymore. Other than that its been zoo and safari. But this was different.... Kennedy introduced himself as the guy who was taking care of animals since 5 generations and he is studying to be a vet. The main mahout was a small guy and he was hilarious. He did most of the talking about all the animals. These elephants are rescue elephants which have been handed over by the zoo for various reasons, or, so I understand. There are 3 elephants Paige with longest teeth, Jeanie with a little short ones , and Krissy with none. With poaching increasing, the number of Krissy's are increasing. That will keep them safe I guess. Not sure why the previous reviews are so brief. We got to learn about them, feed them carrots, even phones if u r willing to give away ( ha ha- Paige really seemed to want them), how to keep their foot and nails in shape, bathing them so on and so forth. This was the first time I had heard a live trumpet and it was adorable. In the end we posed for pics. They are tamed and trained no doubt, but seemed to be enjoying our company and well treated by their owners. They have plenty of parking. Tickets are purchased online, most often they are open only one weekend a month. Restrooms are available. Food not allowed, but a bottle of water is ok. Got to meet Abu the camel, his partner, a zebra and a billy goat and his family too. I wanted to hold one and did not know how to- one of the helper guys I approached said just pick them up and hold - really ! Then some other fellow visitor helped.

My family and I were in town from Chicago for a wedding, and wanted to do something memorable that we can always cherish before we left. I found A Place For Dreamers on Yelp, and immediately knew this was a rare opportunity for my us to experience an activity together as first-timers. I gave a call, was greeted on the phone very nicely, and all my questions were answered. I felt comfortable and ready to book, so I made the reservation for me, my wife, my 9 year old, and 8 year old. After a beautiful drive, we arrived where we could immediately see the beautiful horses. We were greeted by a very friendly gentleman who made sure we were comfortable from the beginning all the way to the end of the experience. He gave us a very clear tutorial, and we were riding before we knew it. The ride itself was pleasant on the trails, and not once did we ever feel uncomfortable or worried about directing our horses. We drove away very happily, and have a lot of memories to cherish. We do not live in Texas, otherwise we'd be coming back very soon. Next time we visit the area, we certainly will stop by again. I recommend giving it a try to anyone who is considering it. To the team at A Place for Dreamers, thank you for maling this a memorable experience for us. Please keep up the amazing work!!

Roland, our trail guide, was outstanding. He has a loving command of the horses as an experienced horse trainer, who is majoring in animal science. His relationship with the horses made us feel secure. He floated back and forth, chatting with each rider and ensuring that everyone was well. APFD, thank you so much for a great time of refreshing as we prepared to enter 2026. We would definitely recommend APFD to anyone who wants to take in the serenity of nature, disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the day, and needs a whoosah break. APFD, we wish you the best in 2026!

Tickets are only $10, and that alone, is worth the 5-star review. For less than the price of a couple coffee's or cartons of eggs, you are able to have some really cool interactions with animals. If you want to experience anything else like this, you'll have to drive an hour to the Houston Zoo, pay a lot more money for tickets, deal with crowds/parking/etc. The Learning Zoo is obviously not trying to compare itself to the Houston Zoo, but where else are you going to get to play with goats, pigs, birds, a pony, tortoises and snakes? The location is really hidden behind 1488. You drive through a residential street, and then all the way at the back, you make a couple of turns, and suddenly you're at The Learning Zoo. When you walk in, you are offered some lettuce and carrots for the animals for an additional $10, which is definitely worth it. Plus, they have some animals inside the lobby area - snakes, hedgehogs, other reptiles, etc. Then you head outside to the main part of the experience. You can walk amongst the tortoises, get "attacked" by all of the birds in their sanctuary, join the goats and pigs in their pen, and they even brought out a 14 foot snake for people to hold and take pictures with. Everyone here was incredibly nice, too. We were only there for about 45 minutes, but for $40, it was worth every penny.
