A few days ago, one of the garage doors and tracking method failed. 24H Garage Doors LLC is refusing to honor the warranty, although it is only the 23rd month of a 5 year parts & labor warranty. They do not stand behind their work, and the technician that arrived to inspect the damage offhandedly said they didn't install it correctly in the first place. They were also extremely rude and disrespectful to both me and my spouse during the process of putting in a warranty claim, which they have yet to honor. I would halfway recommend them if they stood behind their work. But they do not honor their warranties, a poor business practice and a violation of the state laws of Connecticut. They also will give discounts on invoices in order for people to write 5-star reviews, so the good reviews you see online may not accurately reflect the company.

But then the technicians came (three hours late, but that's another story), and I was told I *actually* needed to pay $595, 70% more than I was initially quoted. Trying to get an answer for why the quoted price and the actual price were so different was like talking to a wall. Everyone was very nice on the phone, but nobody was interested in fixing the underlying issue of the $245. The real kicker is that my card was charged twice--for the $350 AND the $595, and it took four days to get that issue resolved. The guys at 24H were trying really hard to be helpful, and some of these mistakes weren't their fault. I get that. But $245 is a lot of money, and the fact that nobody seemed interested in helping me with that was really frustrating. After all the problems I experienced, you would think a discount would be in order, anyway.

The communication was impressive (both email and text messages about the appointment and then texted when he wanted to confirm I could meet him the same day). Sure enough, Mike arrived around 1pm and showed me how to see the number of cycles on the opener along with the date of manufacture on the garage door. He gave me a few options (just replace the springs, replace the rollers and springs, replace the rollers, springs and hinges, etc.) and let me choose without any pressure. He set to work (I chose the option to replace the springs, cables and rollers -- the door was 22 years old so the originals had all put in their time) and 3 hours later was finished! Talk about quick turnaround! Additionally, I asked him to replace the weather seal on the bottom of the door since a mouse had eaten away a section of it. He gave me a reasonable price to complete that work at the same time. I have no idea what the going rate is for this sort of repair. Torsion springs are not DIY-friendly so it's expected that this is a somewhat sizable expense.

We have two rooms above the garage and decided to get an insulated door to improve heat loss, and in the summer, the blazing heat will be kept out. Very happy with the results.
