I called "Doors and More" and although Greg had a number of calls scheduled for the day, he fit me in and got us up and running again immediately (same day). I was super impressed with his work. He was knowledge, professional and courteous. He carefully sized the replacement springs to match our requirements and ensured everything was done properly. He did not just assume the broken spring that was removed was correctly sized. When I asked him about that he explained that it was not an original spring and so he always sizes what he installs himself so that he knows what is installed meets requirements. This involved weighing the door and interfacing with a sizing app to precisely match the replacement spring to what was needed. I can't say enough about how positive this experience was. If you are looking for someone to do garage door maintenance, I would highly recommend Greg.

Sunday morning I tried the default Overhead Door Co. who first told me they could come out that day, only to call me back and state they don't do residential on Sundays.... OOOOkay. Hit up the search engine to see what I could find and DaM came up as nearby with Sunday hours. Called, left a message and had a return call within 2-3 min. Gave Greg the rundown and he said he could be at my place with 45 min... and he was. Pleased and impressed. He had the (proper) springs replaced and was extremely personable and explained how everything worked and why the spring broke in the first place. Shannon kept hounding me for final payment and three times I told her exactly what needed to be completed before I sent final payment. It was minor touchup work that could be done in less than hour. Three times the guys came out but didn't do what needed to be done. I believe Shannon wasn't conveying the message properly. Boy was she snotty each time she called for money and I had to tell once again that the job wasn't complete. FINALLY the job was complete but Shannon was unhelpful and very abrasive. Employees like this one impact customers' evaluation of future business decisions...not for the good.

In the early November windstorm a section blew out. I patched it together and wrote them. They did not respond, so two weeks later I wrote again. They responded that they would be coming up with a "quote" to repair the fence. The fault was an upper member had been cut too short, which was an installation error. I protested and they said they would send someone out to look at the fence. That was a month ago. In the meanwhile, as other windstorms were coming, I wound up screwing a large metal bracket to what should be a nice vinyl fence. They do good initial work but do not support their product.

Matt came out to give me a quote on just a day's notice, all the way in West Hartford. He was the only contractor that really got in and shook the fence which needed repairs. He really wanted to understand the structural problems. He explained everything thoroughly and had an innovative idea for the driveway gate we wanted to put in. Matt was super fast to email me a quote the next day ... Something I appreciated, especially when another West Hartford fence contractor still hasn't responded three weeks later! He was quick to respond to email questions and followed up well. Ultimately, we ended up going with a different contractor due to the slightly decreased cost. This was no fault of Durham Fence Co's. It was essentially a different job which was proposed. The other contractor agreed to use some existing poles we had in use while Matt wanted to ensure they'd be replaced to ensure the quality of the work. Totally makes sense. I will certainly consider hiring Durham Fence in the future.
