The communication was impressive (both email and text messages about the appointment and then texted when he wanted to confirm I could meet him the same day). Sure enough, Mike arrived around 1pm and showed me how to see the number of cycles on the opener along with the date of manufacture on the garage door. He gave me a few options (just replace the springs, replace the rollers and springs, replace the rollers, springs and hinges, etc.) and let me choose without any pressure. He set to work (I chose the option to replace the springs, cables and rollers -- the door was 22 years old so the originals had all put in their time) and 3 hours later was finished! Talk about quick turnaround! Additionally, I asked him to replace the weather seal on the bottom of the door since a mouse had eaten away a section of it. He gave me a reasonable price to complete that work at the same time. I have no idea what the going rate is for this sort of repair. Torsion springs are not DIY-friendly so it's expected that this is a somewhat sizable expense.

After they fixed that door (and got it running better and smoother than before) they made sure the other garage door was running properly too. Springs installed safely, chain lubricated, opening and shutting smoothly and quietly. All for a very reasonable price. The springs they put on go for about $50 at Home Depot. Two guys there under one hour. They quoted me at $275 and somehow that bill rose to 325 by the end of the job. I just wanted the job done quick and it didn't invest a lot of time and effort but 325 to install two $50 springs under an hour labor seems very expensive. And also they did not give me any paperwork except the bill by email I'll eat this bill but I learned a lesson.
