Dr. R. was himself out on medical leave (per his receptionist), so I was rebooked with another Dr in the practice, Dr. Victoria Loseva. I thought she took adequate time and asked a wide range of questions. She also pointed out some drug interactions of which I was not aware. So that's all good. She gave me a scrip for some blood tests. I made an appointment with the local Quest lab for a few days later. After I had checked in at the lab and done all my preliminary paperwork, I was informed that Dr. Loseva had neglected to add a diagnostic code, which my primary payer requires. The lab receptionist tried to contact ECMA and Dr. Loseva directly, while I waited, but no luck. No one picked up and I had to cancel the appointment. The lab said they'd call if they ever got a call back from ECMA, but it's been several days and nothing. Now I will have to find another practice which is hopefully more responsive and responsible, and go through the whole thing again! Based on other reviews here, the ECMA practice needs a management overhaul. Oh, and while they're at it, the office waiting area is very small and very shabby.

I had recently established care with…read moremy endocrinologist and attended two appointments before being notified that the office would be moving and joining a new group. My endocrinologist was wonderful, and I am genuinely saddened that I am no longer able to continue my care with her. Unfortunately, my concerns are with the administrative and billing side of the practice, not the physician herself. On May 4, I received a phone call from the new office informing me that I allegedly owed nearly $400 from 2015. When I questioned the charge and requested clarification, I was met with an unprofessional attitude rather than assistance. During that conversation, I was told the balance had never been sent to collections because the office "forgot" to do so. At that point, I requested that my upcoming appointment be canceled while I worked to understand and resolve the billing issue. Instead, I was completely removed from the practice. This occurred approximately one week before my scheduled appointment and at a time when I was due for medication refills and follow-up care. As a Type 1 diabetic, continuity of care and access to medication are essential. Giving a patient only one week's notice to find a new endocrinologist is simply not realistic, especially when ongoing prescriptions, lab work, and specialized care are involved. Finding a new specialist and establishing care can take weeks or even months. Since then, my calls regarding lab work and medication refills have gone unanswered, leaving me without the support and communication I would expect from a medical practice. Adding to the confusion, I was told the balance was related to services from when I was diagnosed in 2015. However, I was actually diagnosed in 2012. No one has been willing to explain the discrepancy or provide documentation supporting the charge. My frustration is not simply about the alleged balance, but about the lack of communication, professionalism, and continuity of care. Patients should not be removed from a practice while attempting to resolve a billing dispute, especially when they rely on ongoing medical treatment and prescription medications. I hope this group improves its communication, billing practices, and patient support moving forward. While I would gladly recommend my endocrinologist, my experience with the administrative side of this practice leaves much to be desired.
