The absence of rigorous institutional oversight in Palm Beach County has allowed for a substandard care environment that fails to meet contemporary Western biomedical benchmarks for safety and service quality. Sadly, an elderly family member was transported there by ambulance due to it being the closest hospital. They had an extremely poor experience there. Staff was disorganized at best and frequently negligent despite robust family advocacy. In addition, when multiple staff members were approached to request transferring the patient to a more reputable hospital they insisted it could not be done despite the family having researched what needed to be done and providing that information in writing to staff. Additionally, the rehabilitation facility they were eventually transferred to said the hospital did not send proper medical records for continuity of care. read more

Was there a few months ago. The bed soda manner was horrible when having someone in the trauma ICU. Bed side manner from nursing staff all the way through the security staff. Along with having two different doctors give two completely opposite inputs of what to expect, what was happening, and amount of success in improvement. read more

Excellent visit I had a slip and fall and broke my knee! Was referred to Dr. Piza he was excellent! Through and plain talking. I was surprised that I had to stay overnight as it was an elective surgery but he and the pre op team explained it clearly. The care that I received in pre op was best in class. I was very subconscious as I am on the younger side of being a senior so a slip and fall and extensive recovery is very humbling. Any way the entire pre op team made me feel comfortable and I started joking as to what to tell people as how I fell as a slipping in a parking loot is not interesting! (My issue) Everyone was great and especially the nurse that was near my age (pink scrubs blond hair) everyone made me at ease including Mary the anesthesia! Recovery was just as impressive Danielle was my nurse very nice and my nurses Darlene, Kayleah an David were best in class! Highly recommend this place and Angelica lives up to her name! read more

I was FORCIBLY taken to Delray Medical Center by the Delray Beach Police for NO REASON WHATSOEVER! I had a titanium disc put in my neck only months prior and was in an immobilizer knee brace for a possible ACL tear. I was slammed down by my neck (my $5000 necklace from my dead husband was torn off, even and then NEVER RETURNED TO ME!) I begged them to not continue to push on my knee and neck to no avail. Then I was FORCIBLY GIVEN AN INJECTION I WARNED THEM WOULD DO PERMANENT DAMAGE TO MY HEART (I was an RN so I know!) I was told that if I didn't take the injection I was "Going To JAIL?????" IN WHAT COUNTRY???? They have damaged my heart PERMANENTLY and I keep getting billed? Who are they kidding? AWFUL AWFUL PLACE, RUDE STAFF AND THEIVES!!! read more

My recent stay at Delray Medical Center was extremely disappointing. While the doctor was kind initially, there was little to no follow-through once she left. I was not given my daily medications, including sertraline, which caused withdrawal symptoms, and I was denied basic migraine treatment despite being in severe pain. I also did not receive my acid reflux medication, and I'm still dealing with the effects days later. I have Gitelman syndrome, which causes electrolyte imbalances and severe symptoms like muscle spasms and migraines--especially during potassium treatment. Despite clearly explaining this, my pain and comfort were not prioritized. I repeatedly asked for simple things like ice or assistance and often waited long periods or received no response. Multiple times, my call button was answered and disconnected without help, this would go on for 45 minutes at a time being in the cardiac unit that's extremely alarming. I want to sincerely thank Nurse Lead Tara and Kat, who both advocated for me and showed genuine care despite being clearly overworked. Tara showed compassion and went above and beyond to help me when Team Health failed me. She purchased me a coke and called in Tylenol since I was denied basic over the counter migraine medication. Ultimately, I felt forced to leave against medical advice because my basic needs were not being met. Within 30 minutes of being home, I was able to treat my migraine--something that should have been handled in the hospital, 15+ hours prior. No patient should feel like a burden for asking for basic care. read more

Entering emergency to being discharged was exceptional. The caring ,profesional and covenant staff were extraordinary going out of their way to answer questions, providing service as quickly and efficiently given their work load with a smile. I know not everyone has the same experience, chocolate, vanilla and strawberry you know, but for me the sussful surgery, the throughness of testing before and after ranked amount the absolute best. From start to finish I was treated like A junkyard dog! I was having Gastro issues.... I got a private room fortunately but the nurses would always leave the door open what's the point of having a private room if you always leave the door open? I've renamed the staff: Soccer man who would arrive every morning at 4 o'clock to take labs wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap and very colorful clothing, the chief medical officer I have named her Cleopatra.... Very tall very long dark hair she would walk into my room make an announcement and then walk out and wouldn't discuss anything with me! They claimed I had diverticulitis but never treated me for diverticulitis! All they did was pump a gallon of ice cold potassium into me! They put a risk fall around my wrist which was silly because I was going to the bathroom every five minutes and yes I should mention that I was cleaning the bathroom nobody else was cleaning the bathroom! The janitor would often arrive at 5 o'clock in the morning. No sleeping allowed in this crazy place..... I was near the nurses station and every night I could hear them laughing talking carrying on and I got so upset about this I almost called the police..... I have rename this facility as delray medical Gulag! When I was discharged, the nurse said now you can go home and eat anything you want..... I replied well I like really spicy food like Indian food Caribbean food and the nurse said no problem.... Which makes absolutely no sense at all if I had diverticulitis which I didn't have...... I should also mention that Dr. Kaplan visited me for 15 seconds didn't say a word pushed out of my stomach and left and I received a bill for his wonderful services what a quack! One of the worst experiences of my life! A sharp contrast to university of Miami hospital where I've had two surgeries on my right wrist.... I was treated with kindness, compassion and what you would expect from a professional medical facility!! I did take pictures but they're utterly disgusting so I'm not gonna upload them oh and by the way I slept on soiled sheets for five nights. read more

The hospital exteneded my father's length of stay for no medical necessity. The hospital would have let my dad just sit and rot in bed if I did not advocate for him and work with the insurance company. The PT is a joke and they do not want to work with the elderly. Delray Medical is a good place to go if you want to speed up the dying process. read more

A Life-Changing Experience at Delray Medical Center This morning, my mom underwent an MRI-Guided Focused Ultrasound Ablation at Delray Medical Center to treat her lifelong essential tremors -- and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. Every single person we encountered treated her with kindness, dignity, and true compassion. Kim Irurzun, Special Diagnostics Clinical Manager, was like an angel. She guided my mom every step of the way, offering emotional and physical support with such sweetness and care. From gently shaving her hair to standing by her, offering guidance and explanation in Spanish, Kim helped my mom feel seen and supported through it all. Valery Giglio, RN with Patient Care Services, was incredibly attentive and supportive. She cared for my mom with such compassion and made sure I was kept informed throughout -- a steady, comforting presence during an emotional time. Philip, RN from Trauma Resus, also helped her and occasionally translated into Spanish for my mom, ensuring she felt safe, understood, and included in every part of her care. Ana Uribe, Assistant Nurse Manager with Surgical Services, was professional, gentle, and so kind during post-procedure care. Her thoughtful approach helped my mom feel calm and well cared for. The fact that she speaks Spanish made such a big difference for mom! Arica Halila, RN with Interventional Radiology, was incredibly empathetic and warm. Her gentle and sincere presence brought us real comfort, and she made sure we felt supported every moment she was with us. She was also very patient with us and explained instructions clearly, which is invaluable when one is under stress. Julia, a joyful and skilled nurse (we only caught that she's from Canada), was an absolute gem. Her positive, radiant energy lit up the room. She placed my mom's IV on the first try -- no small feat considering her delicate veins and thin skin -- and did so with care, confidence, and grace. Omar Quintana stayed by my mom's side throughout the entire procedure. His calming presence, constant reassurance, and ability to keep her informed made a world of difference. His compassion helped turn a daunting experience into something she could walk through with strength and peace. Last but certainly not least, Dr. Lloyd Zucker, who performed the procedure, was absolutely outstanding. His calm, warm, and personable demeanor immediately put us at ease. You can tell he truly cares about his patients -- not just clinically, but as human beings. His presence, skill, and kindness made all the difference. And now, the most incredible part: the results. My mom's left hand no longer has tremors -- something she has lived with for over 50 years. Just a few minutes ago, after returning home from the hospital, she casually refilled her water bottle using that hand to hold it -- something she hasn't been able to do in decades. Really bad staff. I see done people have liked the staff, or experiences have been very negative. It was impossible to reach our family member. When I was there I saw nurses answer the phone, say hold on, put the phone down on the desk and walk away never to return. Also the doctors came in and out of the room on rounds and we had asked questions and they said they would be back to talk to us and they never ever did. They also did not take calls or return phone messages, numerous doctors treated us like crap. Never before had we been treated so poorly. read more

Even I didn't remember my two stays at Delray Medical Center a few years ago, but a friend just recently stayed there and told me that out of all the meals she was served, there was absolutely NO SALAD WHATSOEVER!!!! How is this possible????? The healthiest food you can possibly eat is salad and a HOSPITAL doesn't serve this to their patients????? Wake up DELRAY MEDICAL CENTER!!!!! Lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. are the CHEAPEST ****ING FOODS YOU CAN PROVIDE TO YOUR PATIENTS, NOT TO MENTION THE HEALTH BENEFITS!!!! I am sitting here shaking my head in disgust. read more

I had a procedure in the Nuclear Medicine Department. It was a scary one, and I admit to being anxious. From Dora escorting me in and reassuring me, to Mike starting my I.V. and answering all my questions; as well as Pat being very kind - they turned that experience into the best it could be. As a nurse, myself, I recognize certain things, and I appreciated the way they made me feel as if I was their only patient. We had to go thought the hard experience of loosing our Grandma recently but the staff of Delray Medical Center truly helped us in every way possible. I arrived in the ambulance with her straight to the Emergency room - this was the only unpleasant interaction I had with anyone there... an emergency nurse got a mad at me for being there asking me to move without even asking me why or who I was with. Now this is when all starts to turn around and why they get the 5 stars. A lady working on the counter saw this and immediately held my hand and showed me where to go and kept sayin "all is alright". Once they did all the necessary tests on my grandma, they called me in. I knew right away the news wasn't good but they did not want to tell me while I was alone. The Dr. patiently waited until my parents arrived, they gave me a chair, water and tissues and kept checking up on me constantly. Once my parents arrived, the Dr. delivered the news in the kindest way possible. Answered all questions we had and assured us they would keep her comfortable until all family members could arrive that night to say our goodbyes. They kept checking on us, checking on her, and always treating her with respect and dignity, even though she was technically no longer "there". From this moment to when they transferred her to hospice, in case it was needed, and until the very end, EVERY single person (nurse, doctor, even staff not assigned to her) was so wonderful with us, showing their condolences, making themselves available for any questions or concerns we had. I can't stress enough how their care and compassion helped us though this very hard time. I wish I had the names of everyone but, unfortunately, at times like this you don't remember much but definitely true here that "actions speak louder that words" and for that I (and my family) am very grateful! read more

I went to the emergency with severe stomach cramps. They put a catheter in my arm so I could not leave. I spent 10 hrs in agony on a gurney waiting to see a doctor. I had to disconnect cable attached to me myself to go to the bathroom and found a toilet that didn't flush - no paper towels and only cold water. They sent me home eventually with out a diagnosis and I ended up back there a week later by ambulance with the same problem which resulted in emergency gall bladder removal surgery. They never allowed more then 2 hrs of continual sleep with room cleaners also awaken me to tell me they were cleaning the room. I had a blood taking nurse stabbed me 4 times unable to find a vein. I kicked her out of the room when she insisted it was only 3 attempts. The bandage fell off as she left the room and I had to walk to the desk to get a bandaide to cover my bleeding puncture arm. Go anywhere if you need help except to Delray medical. read more

My husband received such wonderful care with the staff . He had successful surgery with Dr Rucotta. He was a great surgeon .The surgical team was great . The cardiac step down team was great. Overall experience with the nurses , doctors were phenomenal. This is the hospital to go when you need medical attention. Highly recommended! read more

My wife fell and broke her hip at 1:05pm today and we were transported to this Medical Facility against our better judgement. She was a patient in this facility 6 months ago and we had a terrible experience then just as we having now. In our previous visit, again for a fall, she was misdiagnosed for a rib cage injury. After a 6 hour experience, we were sent home. 6 days later we were admitted to another hospital to treat her for agonizing pain. She had 3 broken ribs!! Now we are still in the ER and it's almost 7 hours! 2 1/2 hours after admission she was informed that she has a broken femur. We have had NO compassion or treatment to address the excruciating pain level. We have had minimal contact with her nurses, was not given any water, we've made numerous requests for pain meds, and we just cannot get anyone's attention. She even resorted to yelling "Help" numerous times!! Avoid this medical facility at all costs!! It should be listed as a LESS THAN ZERO rating!! read more

Jolly is so warm and a lovely kind human. When I got into the pre surgery room, Jolly made sure I was comfortable and got me multiple warm blankets bc I was cold. Every time I hear the words "Delray Hospital", my blood pressure goes up. This is from my numerous experiences with this hospital, all negative. First and foremost, my husband wouldn't be alive today had my son, a physician, hadn't intervened in his care. They were sending him home without determining why he had blood in his stools. My son insisted that they order another colonoscopy and a CT scan when they found pancreatic cancer. Now, this latest incident only adds icing to the cake. I have since learned that you can appeal a release and ended up doing just that this week. My mother-in-law was rushed to Delray by her nursing home. When we got there after being informed, they wouldn't let us in because her bed was in the hallway. We waited in the waiting room until 11 at night from 3 in the afternoon. After several requests for information on her condition; finally, a nurse came out to let us know what was going on. After a day, they found a room for her. The weekend passed, still no word from a doctor about her condition. On Monday at noon, a an infectious disease doctor and a case worker came and informed us that she was being released! We went from thinking she had a stroke, to being released! The social worker now was anxious to place her in a rehab facility. Furthermore, he said it had to be done that afternoon! My husband and I were frantically looking for a decent facility, when her admitting doctor finally called us with little information on her condition. She couldn't answer simple questions on what tests were done. She said that Mom wasn't in pain when Mom doesn't even know her name when asked (she has Altzheimer's). Unable to find a suitable, safe rehab center for an Altzheimer's patient, we filed an appeal for her release. That evening, when all Delray case worker staff had promptly left at 5, we found a place for her. The next morning the new rehab center called Delray Hospital to organize her pick up. This time THEY WOULDN'T LET HER GO without my calling to cancel the appeal! After calls back and forth to the rehab center and the hospital all day, they finally let her go without my canceling the appeal. At this point, I refused to do that. The case workers were harrassing me with no less than 10 phone calls in 10 minutes! We went from no one contacting me for days to being harassed with a deluge of calls. Finally, at 5 PM that day, Mom was released. I am never going to let any family member go to Delray Hospital again. The only reason I gave them a 2 rating instead of a 1 was that the nursing staff was excellent every time we were there. read more

Terrible experience in ER yesterday. 3 25 25. After about 12 hours into the early morning of the next day. I still had not seen a doctor. At this point I was tired hungry and worn out. So I left . No one could give me even an estimate about when I might see a Doctor but it looked like quite a few hours more. No idea really. Also the place was not clean! Dirty bathroom.... that's always a bad sign. Do not go to this ER. If at all possible. One positive thing...... Almost everyone on the staff was extremely nice and helpful and working very hard, but they were just too understaffed. Sad....Not enough doctors there. Dozens of patients were just lying around in the hallways on beds with no one attending to them. . read more
