We ate here on our last night in Inverness after a very long day on a tour. We did not have…read morereservations but the restaurant was accommodating and kind. The World Cup Game was on so it was lively and fun. I will tell you, this was some of the best seasoned food we had the entire time we were in the UK (two weeks). Finally we didn't feel the need to add salt to something. The flavor was just spot on. My husband had the beer steak pie with puff pastry, I had the Cullen skink, my son had a pizza (I can't remember if it was on the kids' menu or not) and my daughter had a Caesar salad with chicken, which she eats a lot at home and had been craving. Both the skink and the stew were perfectly flavored! The fish in the stew was tender and so was the steak in the pie. If we ever go back to Inverness, we will be sure to be returning to Johnny Foxes. Oh! And our waiter was wonderful! I don't remember his name but a young blonde man with a mullet kind of haircut. Thank you to him!

It was so tasty I managed to eat most of it, I just didn't have room for much of the fries or peas. Quick service and a lovely pub atmosphere.

There was no one at the entry way counter, but checked in with one of the wait staff by the bar. We stayed in room 5, which had an old-timey lock and key. You have to lock the room from the inside and the outside. I think the bed size was a queen, but we pushed both that and the twin bed together on the 2nd night because my poor husband wasn't able to fully stretch out his legs in the queen alone. If you think the shower looks small, don't worry, it's smaller haha. But it works and aside from the tight fit it's spacious. The room seems to sit over the back of the kitchen, but it's tucked away from the other rooms. We were able to watch some basic tv after dinner and the windows open for some fresh air, which is nice. There's a wardrobe, table and stool, a chair and 2 night stands for furniture. Plenty of space for two people. We were even able to get some laundry done. For an additional 10 pounds the wait staff took a load and washed, dried and folded it for us. We dropped it off in the morning and picked it up the same afternoon. Dining here was a pleasure. Breakfast was included and the full Scottish was delicious! We also had dinner here and they have a good selection of options and will even allow you to take drinks up to your room when you're finished dining. It's not a fancy place, but it's so homey and the staff are friendly and helpful. If you're passing through Invergordon make sure to stop here for a meal or a stay.

We were on a tight schedule so we didn't get to stay long (my wife and I left early and ate while trying to get back to our cruise ship), but enjoyed the time we had. The service was reasonable, our food was good - not great - and the portions were generous. We had the venison, bacon, and cranberry burger; the fish and chips; and mac and cheese. No complaints. We also split a hagis crepe because we were in Scotland. I cannot speak to how good it was, but it was a fun cultural treat nevertheless.

TLDR: tourists should avoid or be prepared for frustration…read more Went there on a Thursday night at 8:20pm. We were told the kitchen closed at 8. No problem, that's on me, even though the hours published on their website don't list the kitchen closing during any certain times and their hours went until much, much later. Still, no real complaint; just the way it is. Fast forward to Sunday. I won't get caught short again; I have a foolproof plan. I'll call ahead. The discourteous person on the other end of the phone explains to me that their kitchen hours are 1115a to 730p. Thanks, we will see you before long then. We arrive just prior to 3pm and the same person I spoke to on the phone informs me that they simply have nothing available; reservations required. Now, this isn't posted on their website, but I understand that since it's Easter Sunday, they may have temporary rules for that. But how about this? TELL ME THAT ON THE PHONE WHEN I CALL AND ASK ABOUT TODAY'S KITCHEN HOURS!!! My bottom line in this place is that they may have great food, but I suspect that they just aren't tourist friendly. We will not give them a third opportunity and if you're here for leisure, I'd recommend that you avoid this place as well. Unless you draft an airtight questionnaire determining when they will deign to allow you to be seated for dinner. And maybe the hostess/phone person should be picked for her abilities to communicate in a friendly, approachable manner.

I could not get enough of the bread and butter on this trip. It was warm and flaky bread and worth every carb! My main entree of chicken curry was mild but flavorful. The portion was small. It came with a side of naan that was okay I was hoping for a little bit of spice but to no avail. The building is beautiful. The vibe is solid. The staff was a little bit indifferent to us. I felt like we were bothering them every time we asked for something. I would come back though.
