I honestly cannot believe a mechanic this dishonest would have such high reviews. Others reading this please please please beware of this shady mechanic. I was traveling overseas and my wife brought her car here on recommendation. What went from a simple oil change turned into a laundry list of repairs: Timing Chain, all new brakes, new intake manifold gasket, valve cover gasket, new struts, new suspension, cylinder head gasket, AC recharge....and to top it off a Hazmat charge of $200?!?! Thank god I came home before my wife agreed and paid for this egregious borderline criminal total rebuild @ $7000!!!! This was a car we recently purchased with only 70,000 miles. Insult to injury upon arriving @ Wild to take the car back Ken spoke to me and told me that he felt horrible for us buying a lemon and prides his shop in not taking advantage of women (the exact thing that was being done to my unknowing wife). He then proceeds to offer me another "deal" to "help us out". This deal was for us to pay him $4000 + give him our car in exchange for a rusted out old car in his back lot! I politely declined and said we just needed to take our car home and make a decision on the cost.... It doesn't end there! Ken runs out after us and in one last attempt to take advantage of us says "listen this car isn't worth a penny more than $1000 BUT I feel horrible for you guys being taken advantage of so I can take this car of your hands for $1200." .... you can't make this stuff up! We left Wild to another mechanic (personal friend of mine). Car drove 1 hr perfectly fine. My suspicious were confirmed the car was perfectly fine and just needed new pads on the breaks. Just to be fully sure we then took the car to CarMax and they also confirmed car was in great shape and offered us $10,000!!!! In summary DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE

They may be a little more expensive than some but I think you pay for what you get. In my industry we have a sign in out office that reads fast, cheap or good... pick two because you can't get all three. I have tried another shop in McHenry a few years ago that a friend recommended. The car was there for 3 days and I called because I hadn't heard anything. They stated that they were going to look at it the next day ( 4 working days later). I picked it up and brought it to North Town and was driving it two days later. I really have never had a bad experience here and do trust them.

Any concerns about parts alignment, color matching, or blemishes were quickly allayed when he went over all the repairs at pick up. I am going to take another vehicle there for a non-insurance repair, as they were willing to provide ball park estimates and work with us on a cost effective fix. I have to admit that I was initially concerned by the street presence. It looks like a little shop with a bunch of cars waiting (thus fear that I would be waiting as well). The inside is huge and they had a couple dozen vehicles in there being repaired. There is a reason our insurance agent recommended them - they guarantee their work and they have been around forever. If you (like me) normally dread these types of experiences, this is the place to go.
