If you are ordering a gift for someone and they don't live near you, and you want Crate & Barrel to deliver it, DON'T buy it from Crate & Barrel. I received an expensive Ooni pizza oven as a gift - the person sending it lives out of state - and Crate & Barrel delivered it. Unfortunately, it does not work with a known manufacturer's defect Ooni wanted me to repair myself after buying a specific tool to do so (that's another story). I went to the Highland Village store today to return it with the idea of the purchaser receiving the money back on their credit card and had the receipt and order number in hand. No-go with Crate & Barrel, as the original purchaser must be there, otherwise it is a gift card for store credit. I wasn't asking for cash, just a simple return. The store manager came over, and he came across as very arrogant and condescending. I didn't take the gift card option, and will wait for two more weeks for the original purchaser to be here for the holidays where we will once again waste even more time doing what Crate & Barrel should have done in the first place. read more

I hate leaving bad reviews but here we go.... I'll keep this short and painless.. Make SURE you check your receipt and ask them if you paid in full before you leave the store... (kinda silly right?) .. I visited the store 10/26/25 and purchased their most expensive custom couch they offered.. I paid like normal and left the store. This couch had to be custom made so the wait time was 8 weeks roughly. I called back last week to ADD barstools to my order, to only be told " I owed them money". As you can imagine I was dumbfounded.. Apparently it is now the customers job to double check if their employees did their job correctly.. I was told I never paid the "sales tax" ...yes you read that correctly.. " sales tax". This is ALWAYS taken at the time of purchase..(I OWN A RETAIL STORE). I Asked to speak to the manager for clarification of why this happened.. Lets just say.. don't ask to talk to him, he won't offer to help you at all. ALL he wanted to get across was he was in charge and I owe them money somehow... He was EXTREMELY RUDE. I ended up calling corporate to ask why nobody notified me of this error and what they planned to do about this miscalculation on THEIR end.... they lady could only explain that they were wrong and offered me 20% off anything else i wanted to purchase. keep in mind I have the sales receipt that shows I owe them nothing. In the end I ended up having to fork over $848 to clear my account so they would continue making my couch. I will NEVER purchase anything from them again. One of the worst experiences with customer service I have ever seen from a high end store like this. read more

Service is good at this location. Ordered the large Sphere planter for our olive tree. It came damaged but they shipped us a new one.

The service was phenomenal. In purchasing furniture , cutlery, cups, placemats, etc. - the workers were extremely attentive and helpful. It is a bit pricey, as with any crate & barrel store, but I had a great experience. The return policy of 30 days is extremely helpful as it let me try out different items without stress of being stuck with something I don't like. The only con/dislike was the delivery dates. It takes 8+ weeks for some furniture (not their fault they don't have it in stock ready to go). Returns on furniture is a bit tougher as you need to schedule pick up and have them place a work order. read more

It saddens me that I have to give a terrible review but this situation was completely unacceptable. Had to ask for updates 3 times with no until resolutions, actions, or apologies. Came for an order pick up that took more than an hour of my day. The first 30 minutes in, no updates or check ins. After asking for an update they tell us to go to our car and they will bring it to us. Another 35 minutes go by. My Husband goes back in to check on our pick up, they tell him to meet them around back for our items. No one is there. We waited for another 5-10 minutes to see if anyone would come help load. No one ends up coming and we loaded the items in ourselves. At that point I should just clock in and get things done myself. If this the only crate & barrel in Houston, then it is the worst one. I should not have to feel less than anyone to be "worthy" of assistance. read more

Our favorite from a long time, this store has the most contemporary, purposeful products for home. The first floor has kitchen related stuff and the furniture is on second floor. Friendly staff is always ready to help you with any questions you may have. They do options for customization and delivery. I went by to pickup an order that they emailed me saying was ready. I got there at 7:57pm and the doors were locked while shoppers were inside. The salesperson was trying to mouth that they were closed and I was trying to tell him I only wanted to grab my order and go. He continued to say they were closed while another sales associate came over to laugh with him as I stood outside confused, since they didn't close until 8pm. He came over to the door (without opening it) to say they were closed. I asked for future reference, what time they closed and he said 8pm. I showed him in my phone (through the glass) that it was 7:58. He got on the radio to ask the manager about it and he just said "he said no." This is UNACCEPTABLE for customer service especially from a customer who spent over $500 with them during the holidays. I will be returning everything, and never going back. read more

This review is on the hiring practices at this particular store on Westheimer. Was 25 minutes early to my interview for 3:00 p.m. time slot, was told by another manager they were on a conference call that ran a little bit late and that the general manager would be getting with me shortly after. That shortly after,...actually turned out to be one whole hour late. I sat around and walked around the store for a whole hour. Then when I was interviewed by the general manager there was no apology given for the tardiness. And the interview with her felt as cold as ice, she never smiled, and seemed generally disinterested in the interview. Interview lasted maybe 10 minutes. It's not the issue of not being selected, it was there was no real genuine concern or courtesy for not managing time better. Communication could have been a lot better. read more

My boyfriend and I were dressed pretty casually and weren't greeted or helped by anyone though we were just browsing anyway. Crate & Barrel redeemed themselves though when we found a lamp that we loved but couldn't find the info tag on. We asked one of the sales people and she pulled up the information on her computer, provided other floor lamp suggestions, and even printed off the information for us to take home. The furniture here is beautiful and styled very practically/realistically. This is only a review about my experience with ordering furniture. The store itself is beautifully merchandise. The people who sell the furniture are well informed or will ask others to help them. My complaint is an ordering the furniture. I ordered some chairs the second week in November and they never arrived and it's the first week in May. They said they had problems with manufacturing. The chairs I ordered still offered on their website, but warning be careful of ordering furniture there because of the delays. Read the reviews.! I like C&B for many reasons: they almost always have a sale going on; it's never crowded; sales people don't haggle you--at all; all of their furniture/decor is beautifully laid out so you can snag some great ideas; their emailing list offers certain specials; there are only a few locations in the city, so your bff probably won't have the same dish set you just bought ... in exception to the desk I bought today--my friend Nik has the exact same one. For such a large city, I'm surprised that I have to drive almost an hour to get my Crate & Barrel fix. We came in to browse and look at some Vita-Mix blenders but Williams Sonoma offers a discount so we bought our blender there instead. Employees here weren't overly friendly. Lots to see with two floors of home furnishings and decor, plenty of housewares and brides putting together a wish list. I love all the kitchen gadgets and large selection of housewares. We will never purchase anything for Crate & Barrel again. My husband and I purchased a $700 table in Mid-November with an estimated arrival date of the first week of December. The first week of December came and the warehouse called and told us we could come pick up the table. Upon us arranging to get a truck to pick up the table we arrived at the warehouse and they could not find the table. We then were told the table would be delivered the following week free of charge. The next week, no table came. Crate & Barrel then scheduled the table to be delivered on December 23rd. Still several weeks later than what we originally thought. On December 23rd our table was supposed to be delivered between 4-6pm. As we were hosting family THAT day and the table was supposed to arrive during dinner we waited patiently and no table came. It is now January 1st and they are telling us the earliest is can be delivered is January 15th. This is absolutely ridiculous and sadly while we love so much of their products this table will be our last purchase. Poor management of this situation Crate & Barrel, customer lost. read more

It starts from 9am-11am (before business hours on Sunday) The staff were supper friendly. They served us light breakfast bites & beverages. Honestly, I came here just to spend some time shopping with the fiancé. In the past, I've seen a few of my friend's registry. I was in shock to see the prices on the things they requested. I'm a frugal person, and there were things at crate & barrel I know I can find somewhere else cheaper. I'm really glad we checked out this event. I found so many nifty kitchen gadgets for a reasonable price. Some items I don't even see at sur la table. I felt really comfortable to create a registry list. We are not expecting our registry to be fulfilled from our guests. The neat thing about the registry, if your items are still listed crate & barrel gives you a 10% off & 15% if you use crate & barrel c/c. I recommend attending these registry events. Crate and Barrel was not initially on my radar during my furniture shopping for our new place, but after my friend and colleague wouldn't stop raving about his wonderful experience, I was influenced to work with them. I explained to my friend that I was struggling with finding a unifying design for our home and didn't want to shop "piece by piece", but was hoping for some sort of assistance with bringing my design vision to life. He told me about design services C&B provided and quickly pulled out his phone to show me the 3D renderings they had done for him. It was truly a sight to behold! There was so much detail, color, texture, etc. The photos were absolutely stunning. I was immediately intrigued and felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders because this had been exactly what I was looking for. I asked, how much did you pay?! Because my husband and I were preparing to host friends and families from out of town, quite frankly I was ready to pay a pretty penny! But to my surprise, my friend said it was free of charge. I booked an appointment and sighed a breath of relief, but this is where things took a turn for the worst. I actually mulled over whether or not to share this review. But I do believe that sharing my experience is important because I know how heavily I rely on honest reviews. So, I'm here to share my honest review in the hopes that someone doesn't waste their time like I unfortunately did. On the morning of my in home appointment with the design consultant, I received a phone call asking to confirm that I was still available, and I said yes! Surprisingly, when the time came for my appointment, no one showed up. No warning, no phone call. Nothing. I figured someone was maybe running late so I waited 15 min, then 30, then 45. I called the store to ask if something had happened to the consultant because no one had showed up. I was given a cold and sterile response, "oh we are sorry ma'am, we are going to have to reschedule." I probed a few times to ask why no one warned me that it was cancelled and the response was a "sorry." The conversation was incredibly curt and felt as though I was pulling teeth despite being on the receiving end of this blatant disregard and disrespect. Fast forward, I decided, let me give the benefit of the doubt and re schedule and try again! The next appt, someone did come. The gentleman Brian, was sociable and answered my questions as he walked around my space. He told me that he would have the rendering finished no later than 3-5 business days. I told him that would be fine. I vividly remember saying, take your time! I prefer you putting together something well than doing some haphazardly. Welp. I jinxed it. After TWO weeks (yes, you read that right), I received a chain of 4-5 forwarded email messages. It was the most bizarre thing. At first glance, I thought is this some sort of phishing scam email?! But realized this was an email from a C&B employee. The images and rendering (if you can even call it that) he shared with me looked NOTHING like something a professional consultant would put together. To say I was shocked and flabbergasted would be an understatement. When I compared the rendering that was done for my friend to the one done for me--it was like night and day. The software they used for him appeared to be a proprietary one belonging to C&B (the design desk at C&B) and the one they used for me was "floor planner" which I learned is floorplanner.com that anyone can use...and it looked just like that. It pains me to say this, but I think a college student could've done a better job. As sad as that is... I'll share the comparison of the two and I'll allow the reader to decide if the two are even comparable. Deciding to patronize a business is not a decision I take lightly. I ask my friends and family for recommendations, so in this situation, unfortunately this recommendation from my friend fell flat. My friend was mortified and shocked because he too agreed that this is not the type of treatment he received and after looking at the renderings, he knew that this was not professional in any regard. It was interesting to see him more embarrassed by the stain my experience left on his referral reputation. The experience did not meet my expectations of the standard that C&B should be operating at. Scrolling through these reviews from customers, Glassdoor reviews from their employees, it appears that C&B has consistently demonstrated poor treatment of non-white customers and employees. If you're any self respecting immigrant (like myself), or even a person that may not appear "wealthy" in the eyes of Eurocentric standards, I don't recommend shopping here. You'll be treated like a second class customer. Take your wallet and dignity elsewhere. read more

I came in to buy an oversize coffee table/ottoman and was caught completely off guard by just how unfriendly they staff was. I take that back, the initial person who helped me was friendly, but passed me off to the store's "Design Specialist." How this person is a specialist is beyond me. She said my piece was considered a "custom to order" piece (though it wasn't,) pointed out that it's likely they didn't have a model for me to look at, and kept directing me to other parts of the store that had nothing even close to what I was intending to buy. I can't say when the store manager was looped into the situation he was any better. Scott waited until I completed my purchase (business first, I guess) before even asking me about the issue. Store manager, design stylists...all fancy titles for people who should not be in customer service. The staff here is so helpful! We are planning our first ever Thanksgiving, so we needed the usual things: plates, bowls, glasses, silverware, etc. We were given guidance where to find what we wanted. So, once we found what we wanted, we (being meticulous) made a list, and then set off to find a salesperson. The sale-person was able to get us a cart and loaded it up with all that we needed! Also, we were unaware of a sale they were having, so we spent less than anticipated! Not only were we satisfied with finding what we wanted, they even volunteered to carry it all out to our car! This was so great and helpful, since we had so many bags! I took off one star because the lines for checkout are a bit slow, but they move faster than they would on Black Friday. read more

The sad thing is I usually always walk out of the store empty handed. Why? Well, let's just say that I can't really afford C&B and I'm not ashamed to admit it. They have some REALLY nice furniture that I wouldn't mind owning. But come on, who am I kidding? It's C&B. It's expensive!!! Well, okay, expensive is relative. But it's definitely expensive for me! Those of you who can afford C&B, shut up! I come in the store, and I browse. Like Farrah mentioned, they usually have sales, but even their sale prices are out of my range. I love their furniture. They're solid and they will last you a lifetime because they're made of solid wood and they're sturdy and I know people that have owned C&B furniture forever. However, high-end furniture comes with a high-end price tag. Yes, it's not as expensive as, say, "Roche Bobois" but it's still expensive (FOR ME!!!!) Some of their furniture pieces are pretty modern and contemporary looking, some are more old-fashioned. So, let's just say there's something for everybody here. All the furniture is located upstairs (ok, they have some on display downstairs as well) and they have accent pieces, cookwares, cutleries, dining pieces, etc downstairs. I can only imagine owning some of their furniture (ok, I own some that I bought off of Craigslist) and some of their higher-end cookwares (all-clad cookwares, anybody?) but for now I'll just be daydreaming. read more

The staff in the kitchen and furniture are awesome but the rest not so much. I walked in their twice and bought two full bags of stuff from them. Never was I greeted when I walked in nor acknowledged when I walked out but I do noticed they only greet white people and thanked them even when they don't buy anything from the store (Front cashier make in his 50s grey hair). I will be back in mid August to pick up my instant pot since it was backed order due to the special that they were having. On my second visit to the store a lady that works there kept following my wife and mom around as if she was going to steal even though my wife had tights and a tight shirt on. Never once did she asked if they needed help just kept looking and following them making them uncomfortable. She was a older lady with short grey hair. Overall the store itself was very nicely displayed. I hope the third their environment is more welcoming. I do park in the front every time I come in. Quick update still no acknowledgement from John (cashier in front) when 5 people walked in he greeted them but when I walked in he turns his back. When i leave with more items from the store still no acknowledgement. Probably won't be coming here anymore. I'll take my business else where. read more

I was so very excited to purchase my French Kitchen Marble set for my big move this coming weekend. However, the online order experience has been horrendous! I had called previously to chat about the pieces and the color variations of the marble; I was told that when I came in to pick up my set, I could look at my order and make sure they were the ones I wanted (versus the rest on display) since the marble pattern varies and can range from very white to very grey. This will eliminate the need for me to exchange or return my pieces! Great idea, nice lady on the phone! On C&B website, there is a 'guarantee' that you can pick up same day if you place an order before 4 pm. So, I ordered my set by 2 pm and hopped in the car to head over there. Well, on my way to C&B, I got an email saying that my order wouldn't be ready until the next day (even though I ordered before 4 pm). Convinced that this was a computer error, and considering the fact that it was only about 5 minutes until the very nice sales lady, Merriah, and I had found and set apart each piece that I had already ordered and paid for, I never assumed I would be turned away with nothing. Merriah called over the manager and explained the debacle, thinking the manager would understand the logic of the situation, and actually want to make a paying customer happy. She did not. She was very unapologetic when she told me that I would have to pay for the entire order again and cancel my previous order and wait for the double charge to be corrected on my end. She insisted that the internet was messed up and that there was NO way for me to take my order until it got processed tomorrow - regardless of the fact that I spent my time and gas on a promise I received from their website. However, I didn't make a fuss, I tried to stayed pleasant and bid them well. Two hours later, while I was driving to Spring, Texas, I got an email saying that my order was ready for pick-up. Of course I was over an hour away and they closed in less than an hour! Just get it together Crate & Barrel Management. Time and gas wasted because of a manager that was not motivated to meet a customer's needs is NOT what I want to think about when I think of Crate & Barrel. read more

As a client, I don't care. We ordered a table and 6 chairs and the order value was more than 6000. After waiting for 8 months, the game of "deliver, not deliver" began. This is the the world's worst store for help. There were about 9 shoppers. I was searching for single pieces of flatware. I had to beg to be helped..they point to where things are there they dont go and help. I couldn't hold all my items as I had had arm surgery. Nobody says. Mam let my help you with those. If you standing looking at things onndusplay they do not say Mam let me help you find what you are looking for They must be low salaried. If you buy things but need to order something for shipment. They show anger. I will never go there in this lifetime. I wish I had dropped my items on the floor and walked out. This is like the stuff you wished you found at iKea that one time you went there and were sorely disappointed in the quality of things you could actually afford for your first apartment. Everything is quite nice here, but it is going to cost you. The only big bother is that cutesy "it is going to last a lifetime" spiel you get because no, it is not going to last a lifetime, my dog will likely ruin the sofa by chewing arising out of separation anxiety from me, or failing that, then queso and beer spills will eventually make this too embarrassing to keep when I have polite company over and I will have to go through this same song and dance routine of buying new furniture all over again. You don't know who your customer is pal, nothing I buy is intended to survive my hairy child or my downward spiraling addiction to eating queso with blue corn tortilla chips and a St Arnold's Weedwhacker on the sofa as I watch my stories. You also get the chance to play real-life Frogger as all the soccer moms text message while driving their Mercedes rather fast for a parking lot. At least they are Mercedes so you know they will settle your personal injury lawsuit with a nice wad of hush money. Which will allow you to buy some nice furniture inside. On the first floor you find the knick-knacks, kitchen tools, potted grass, and other smaller ticket items. Wind your way to the back of the store and head up the staircase to the second floor for the furniture, the really nice stuff. So many nice things laying out as suggested decorations. The sofas do not have what appears to be wine spilled all over them (yet) like other furniture stores do (cough Star cough) which promptly alerts you that they just do not have the time or capacity to let little things bother them. It's hard to find help when you need to ask some questions, but eventually you will get someone if you wander around enough. This place combines the fun of browsing the tchotchkes at Pier One with the ruthless dictatorial utilitarianism of buying a sofa at iKea - except you don't need to put this one together at home with a hammer, lots of swearing, some blood, a bag of extra parts you didn't really need (?), and how-to instructions about as useful as the idiotic pirate who drafted a treasure map to a trove halfway around the world with a simple dashed line and a little red X. I've purchased several things from this store already. Everyone here is really nice when you approach them. Although the first time I was here, I felt like all the other customers were being asked if they needed help except us. I actually saw one associate turn their head right to look at us then turn the other way to another person farther away to ask if they needed any assistance. So that I don't know. Also, a plate fell off its stand up stand when my fiance was near it. Not sure how it fell, he claims he didn't touch it, but anyways it fell. I thought we were get blamed but they were all so good about it, making sure we weren't hurt and had someone clean it up right away and didn't even look like they were going to blame us one bit. That I say is good service. In general, I just love everything they have in the store. I wish I could buy everything! read more
