It was so clean and organized inside, I thought the shop was new, but the friendly owner said it's been here for two years! While I love Larry's in Pasadena, it's a further drive. The selection here is smaller in terms of decor and pre-made sugar decorations, but they actually have more options with gel colors, disco glitter and luster dust. I also love that they sell high quality supplies. The Fat Daddy baking pans are really great - the only straight sided pans I like buying after trying several out - and that's what they carry, in a variety of shapes and sizes. They also have lots of isomalt, even some pre-colored, which Larry's doesn't. Drums, cake bases, pre-made fillings, icings... you name it. While it's a little pricey compared to ordering fondant/colors in advance via amazon, this is a great spot to hand pick the exact colors or supplies you need. With friendly employees, who always ask how they can help, I'm certain that I could come here in search of hard to find supplies. Plus, there's a punch card for frequent customers!

I received an expensive Ooni pizza oven as a gift - the person sending it lives out of state - and Crate & Barrel delivered it. Unfortunately, it does not work with a known manufacturer's defect Ooni wanted me to repair myself after buying a specific tool to do so (that's another story). I went to the Highland Village store today to return it with the idea of the purchaser receiving the money back on their credit card and had the receipt and order number in hand. No-go with Crate & Barrel, as the original purchaser must be there, otherwise it is a gift card for store credit. I wasn't asking for cash, just a simple return. The store manager came over, and he came across as very arrogant and condescending. I didn't take the gift card option, and will wait for two more weeks for the original purchaser to be here for the holidays where we will once again waste even more time doing what Crate & Barrel should have done in the first place.

Some of the meals you're cooking are simpler than others. We had a pear arugula salad, bolognese, and olive oil cake on the menu. The chef and her crew were great! They took their time and explained everything to us. For the pasta, we actually made the noodles! Which was really cool! The whole experience was so much fun! You get to eat the food after you're done, but make sure you eat it because you cannot take the leftovers. Everything was yummy! Tip: you can BYOB! We brought our own bottle of wine! They don't charge a corkage fee and have glasses for you. I highly recommend a cooking class! Especially with friends or a date night. It was a lot of fun! When we got to the class, it was completely full and we were paired with another couple. Among the 4 of us, we made potstickers filled with shrimp and pork, as well as bbq pork bao buns. Our instructor was great - I enjoyed his humor and he made the class lively! We were greeted with tea to sip on and the ingredients were prepped in advance with small containers of each sauce, veggies, mushrooms, etc. We took turns chopping, or whisking, or using the stand mixer. I learned some useful knife skills as well! It was fun learning how to fold the wonton wrappers as well as the dough for the bao buns. I appreciated the chance to learn multiple delicious recipes and we had a fun group! I would have appreciated more observation of making the bbq pork as that was pre-prepared, and going through the multiple ingredients we used as they were not labeled. That being said, we received recipe booklets so that we can try them on our own. We had a pause midway through the class during which the Sur La Table staff steamed our potstickers and bao buns and we browsed the store with our day-of discount. When we returned, I enjoyed sharing the delicious dim sum! We were pretty full towards the end but learned that we can't take any of the food out of the store due to any risk on the store which was a bummer. Nevertheless our group chowed down and finished our tasty meal! I enjoyed all the instructors and staff at this location and would certainly be open to coming back, though for a special occasion as their classes are on the pricey end.

I am super happy with my Le Creuset, and their customer service is fabulous! Good bargains, as evidenced by the $400 cast-iron skillet and griddle lid on sale - this is a great item and I didn't buy it when I was last in the store because I was taking my niece shopping for wedding gifts and she took the one I was going to buy for myself! :-) Instead of $400, with shipping it only cost a little over $250. Frederick came out and gave us a quote...a very high one. We told him we had to wait to have the insurance job approved and we would get back to him. Once insurance came in, we called him (about 2 weeks later) He told us it would be 6 weeks and if we had just paid out of our pockets, he could have done it sooner. He began to belittle us because we wanted wait for insurance. The truth is, I could have paid for 20 jobs and not worried, it was the point. We went elsewhere because of his attitude, saved $3000 dollars, got it done in a week, and they look fantastic. High price, smart arse attitude....dont bother with Nancy's.
