Crater Springs is a very pretty course. For starters, just a personal side note, but I liked the name "the homestead" a lot better than "crater springs." I was told in the pro shop that the name was changed for marketing purposes. But now to the important stuff. I guess I should start with getting the tee time. I found it hard to get a hold of the clubhouse. The online teetime website wasn't working so I had to call the clubhouse multiple times before someone picked up and I could make my teetime. Then I had to change the reservation from 4 to 3 players and again I had to call multiple times to get a hold of someone. I normally don't call to change the amount of players but they took my credit card number at the time I made the initial reservation and said if we had changed but didn't let them know we would be charged for them. Now to the course. The course was in great shape and is very pretty. We teed off at 4 and had no one pressing us from behind and we were not pressuring anyone. So that was great. The greens rolled well and there were hardly any dead spots on the course. This is where my four star rating comes from. The biggest annoyance of the day was from their Mounted GPS units in the carts. We had a threesome and the second carts GPS didn't work. It just kept turning off. Ours worked great and gave great distances to the pin and how far to carry over sand traps etc. but they were super annoying. Every hole advertisements would pop up and would not go away. They would just stay there until you pressed a button to make them go away. It was aggravating to see the face of an insurance agent in the are every few minutes. Overall since I am rating a golf course I give it four stars because it is very scenic and fun, but everything else I would give a 2.5 rating. read more

Crater springs was a great golf experience overall. Showed up and had my clubs loaded on to a cart for me. Then drive to the pro shop, where the staff was super friendly and professional. Course was well kept all around. Fairways are wide open and the greens were in great shape. Not quite as difficult as it's slope rating states. Plus after the round The Sandwich Trap was great we grabbed a few beers and literally got a burger right from the grill! Thanks to all the staff at Crater Springs. read more

Truly an awful experience twice in a row now so done with this place. Showed up 45 mins early to hit some balls only to be lied to - said the range was closed but later they said it was only open for season pass holders. So we sat around at the saddest excuse for a practice area for our scheduled time. Then, breakfast cart (the only food place) was closed at 9:30am but she was in there so served us some stuff before our round started. At the turn, she was closed so zero places to get a sandwich or Gatorade - lame. When I asked in the pro shop, I was told that they don't operate the food stand and when I asked the starter was told the same thing. I really can't understand how no one can claim any responsibility! That's pathetic. We did finally see a cart person on the course but she had no ice and one sandwich. This is the lamest excuse for a course and whoever manages it should go back to whatever job they are good at. I used to like this course but now after a few terrible experiences in a row it's clear that they really couldn't care at all about their guests. Done!! read more

This place is super fun! Staying in park city and decided to head this way for a round of golf and the crater swim. We came on a Tuesday around 11 am and it was super empty which was nice. I haven't played much golf but my boyfriend (who is an avid golfer) didn't have any issue with the round. Based off of other reviews, if you're enjoying Utah you'll have a great time but if you're uptight you'll find problems with it. Lol read more

Summary: - You don't get what you pay for - Poor/rude service - The whole place is an unorganized mess Explanation: I had high expectations for this place since a lot of people talk about "The Homestead." I quickly found out upon arrival that is hyped up a bit too much. The course wasn't in the greatest of shape and the staff was very cocky and arrogant. If you ask me, if you want people to return, you should probably treat your customers like they're valued, not an like an inconvenience. The course was $52/person and you most certainly don't get what you pay for. All-in-all, I should've followed my gut and gone to Wasatch. That course is in much better condition, and you get so much more for your money (better course, better staff, etc), AND you'll be paying less than The Homestead. Don't waste your time and stick with Wasatch up the road. I will not be returning to The Homestead. read more

This could be a great course, however, it caters to people who have only played golf once or twice. As a single, I was designated to play with a threesome , 2 men and a woman wearing a dress and sandals . On the first tee, she told me that she only played two times . She didn't have her own clubs and was using her boyfriend's ( unbelievable) !!!! Now as a 10 handicap, I get stuck with this ! Before teeing off , I noticed a foursome finishing up on 18. Three women and a man. The women were wearing cut off shorts and sandals. Plus, looking around , there were men playing with tank tops .This was pretty much my experience here ! I've never played anywhere like this.!! Will never, never play this course again !!!! read more

I really enjoy the music in the summer.The staff is very amiable. The food is good the burger is a favorite but we often go fo breakfast, great views.. The golf is fun. The crater is other worldly, soak up some minerals floating or scuba. read more

The four of us booked this course, sight unseen, to play a leisurely Monday round while vacationing in Park City. The course is in great condition, and putts run true. I believe the course rating is a bit higher than it should be, but if you are accurate on your tee shots and are mindful of the water, creeks, and sand - you will be rewarded. Otherwise, bring extra balls. The parking area is a short cart ride to the clubhouse and pro shop. Don't be put off by your first impression because this is not a new resort. The pro shop and such are a bit tired, but we were here to experience Utah golf. Great layout, good staff and make sure you ask to see inside the Crater, where you can swim or scuba in 95 degree water. My group enjoyed our round and we found the pricing very reasonable, compared to Northern California! I would recommend to my friends if they are visiting PC. read more

I came here as part of a wedding/groomsmen golf adventure, and needless to say, despite the great weather and start to the planned activity, we had a terrible experience. We had a group of 5 golfers and three carts. Since there were a few novice golfers, we decided to play best ball, so we wouldn't hold up any of the groups behind us. As we were finishing up the first hole, we had the "pro" come up to us to tell us that we couldn't play with five in a group and we had to either split up or be removed from the course. We tried to explain to him that we were not holding anyone up and we could see that the group in front of us also had five in their group and hadn't even tee'd off yet from hole 2. Also, the group that was poorly scheduled after our party were stacked behind us waiting, and if we split up our group, that would just further delay everyone behind us. Despite numerous attempts to point out these logical points of us trying to be accommodating, the "pro" was having none of it, and we drove back to the pro shop to get our money back and leave. So, rather than take $200 in business shooting 9 holes with cart rentals, this business would rather enforce a senseless "rule" that would delay every tee time after us and frustrate even more customers. There was no attempt to comprise to our logic and we left very frustrated. We will never come back to this establishment and will strongly discourage anyone we know from everyone going here. read more

If you like trees growing out of sand traps, your ball nestled in holes on the fairway consistently, trap rakes that a ready to give you a foot long fiberglass splinter, and infrastructure that is dilapidated (water fountains dont work) and your willing to pay a premium for this package, this is the place for you! I remember the homestead being a treat a decade and a half a go. I felt robbed when I played this a couple weeks ago. Get your act together and take some pride in what should be a premier course in Utah. Very disappointed. read more

Beautiful course and was in great shape except for two holes. Other than that the play was fast and it was really warm for being up in the mountains. They don't have water on any of the holes so you need to load up at the clubhouse. Greens were rolling true! read more

We planned a round of golf for me, my father in law and son on Father's Day. My son is 6 1/2 years old and I've taken him golfing with me for the past 3 years and just about every course in the state. We showed up at 6:30 and were promptly turned away because no one is allowed on the course under 8 years old. The gal at the pro shop was rude and lacked customer service. There was not a manager on premise to discuss the situation with. They said it had to do with their insurance. Why does every other course in the state not have an issue with him tagging along? After getting home and checking their website there is no mention on an age restriction. Poor customer service and apparently some really poor insurance lead to a waste of an hour drive each way and no golf on Father's Day. read more

Not kid friendly.... regardless of skill, or paying customer, your kid must be 8 to play. Terrible looking greens too. Don't play here, as they continue to kill the game. Plenty of other great course that don't discriminate on age. read more
