    Boiled crawfish SPICY

The crawfish were big and tasty! The service is always friendly and fast! Linda runs this place perfectly! They serve boiled crawfish for LUNCH on Fridays which is rare since most other places serve after 4pm The place is clean & just a good overall local restaurant! Yes, I recommend this place!

When you want to go to a real cajun restaurant it's hard to beat Dwight's and it's right in the middle of Lafayette. It's by far my favorite place to go for lunch. I almost always get the meatball stew. If you haven't been, please do yourself a favor.

It's The most wonderful Time of the Year! Crawfish Season!!! @dwightslafayette Pictured you see the "Raging Cajun" oysters. Hands down some of the best oysters I have ever had. It kinda had a pizza flavor to it with the cheese, bacon and jalapeno topping. Next the "Zydeco Ravioli" of the "Uncle Mark Special" which was 2lbs of crawfish and shrimp.

    Crawfish Etouffee

Crawfish etouffee is a dish I rarely order in restaurants since I have a family recipe that's hard to beat. Don't believe me? Ask anyone who has ever tried mine. This changed on a recent visit to Dwight's. I was prepared to order something else but just looking at their etouffee, I knew I had to try it. I'm so glad I did. First, the portion is huge (see photo) AND it comes with two sides. I don't know exactly how they are making their etouffee here but it is just amazing. It's seasoned perfectly and full of crawfish. I didn't have to add hot sauce to the dish, and normally I do to spice it up. So happy to have found a place that's not afraid to use spices liberally! As for the sides, I got smothered cabbage which was a little too sweet for my liking and green beans which were cooked down and buttery. They also gave me a jalapeño corn bread biscuit which was delicious. Dwight's is the kind of place that has tables with holes in the middle for easy disposal of crawfish/shrimp/crab shells. Look out crawfish season! I'm coming back for you!

These folks offer the best plate lunch in town. The Sunday barbecue special is dynamic. The crawfish Etouffee is the best in town. Blackberry cobbler, wonderful. The line moves quickly, don't let it deter you.

Dwight's is a well known Lafayette restaurant that currently has a 4 star average. It has an above average reputation with its BBQ even having a Sunday lunch event featuring their BBQ which I understand is quite popular. While driving through the area the week before Christmas I was able to stop by for lunch on a Wednesday where they feature their BBQ chicken. Walking in, I noticed that they have a buffet line service which included the chicken along with other mouth watering lunch options but I asked for the chicken (which is a 1/4 and I went with dark meat) with sides of bbq beans and green beans and some dirt rice. Paying and grabbing my tray, I stopped by the self serve drink station and easily found an empty table. They weren't busy that day and this is a large restaurant with 3-4 large rooms with tables. I thought the chicken was good. The leg/thigh was average in size and reasonably moist. The taste was ok but I have had many better. Not bad mind you just not up to my expectations of this place. The sides were good too with my fave being the green beans. While the meal was acceptable I could go no higher than a 3. I have a feeling that their Cajun dishes might be better and that this might actually be a 4 restaurant but I have to report about my experience. I would be happy to return and try one of those Cajun dishes or perhaps another BBQ meat like brisket. The pork roast over gravy looked good the day I was there but I didn't eat it so perhaps next time.

We had chicken and sausage gumbo, Pepper Jack boudin balls, bam bam gator bites and the blackened chicken pasta. The waiter this time was better than the waitress we had last time. He was very attentive and made sure we never had to ask for refills. The appetizers came out fairly normal time-wise I would say. The main portion took a little bit longer than what you're used to at a franchise restaurant but here that's perfectly fine as it's worth the couple extra minutes. The gumbo is perfect(I love when gumbo is not over complicated) I like to add a lil hot sauce to it and it's delicious... only thing is, while they already give generous portions... the cup and the bowl looked exactly the same except I think in the bowl they give you one extra scoop of rice... which would be just fine if it wasn't like $6 more. But still delicious nonetheless. The bam bam gator bites were really good and I highly recommend them. If you like bam bam shrimp you'll love these. The pepper jack boudin balls were good, nothing special but they were definitely worth the try. My co-worker had the blackened chicken pasta and when I asked him how it was he said "dude, it's really good!" lol. The building is pretty unique and they have some outside seating with a massive beautiful tree that over looks the restaurant and takes claim to some of the asphalt in the parking lot lol. But it's a great spot for birthdays, good lunch menu deals, casual date night or if you wanna blow some steam off, they have a little bar in the restaurant as well. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend. I'm from East Texas, so I'm no Cajun/Louisianan but they truly got some good grub here. I'll definitely be coming back several more times when I get the chances. I will warn you, I believe the food is freshly made so when it gets to the table, give it some time to cool off because it comes out HOT.

As I am someone who was in the restaurant when it happened…read more I just think it's funny how you aren't mentioning y'all came in as 6 people and then wanted accommodations for 30 people during one of the busiest times of the night. Or that they argued with the amazing manager for nearly an hour total after being told they couldn't accommodate that size party. They're also leaving out the part where people from their group marched in and seated themselves, stood over occupied tables waiting for guests to leave, insisting the hosts clean the tables, and made the entire restaurant uncomfortable. This had nothing to do with race and everything to do with behavior. Any group acting like that would've gotten the exact same response. In short, do better. Y'all came in and ruined everyone's dinner because y'all don't know how to plan ahead. Stop blaming people for your mistakes and take accountability.

This may have been part of the reason its wasn't all that busy on a Tuesday lunch. Similar to some other restaurants in Louisiana I've visited, they have a side with a bar, to-go area and high tops, and a more family oriented side of the restaurant with a bunch of low top tables. Fried pork rinds are served with every table. They have daily plate lunches and the one day I came it was chicken fried steak. However, it's not usually a good idea to order CFS outside of Texas in my experience. Therefore, I ended up ordering the catfish and shrimp platter, served grilled instead and added a $5 strawberry margarita. The entree comes with a side salad but they only have seelct dressings and none which I would typically order, so i just settled on honey mustard. Margarita- for only $5 it's not bad and comes with either sugar or salt rim Catfish and shrimp platter - seasoned with a blackened seasoning but it wasn't spicy. The catfish filet was small and tasted like it was previously frozen. The shrimp were also small and didn't taste much better. Not sure I'd return if ever in Lafayette, as I was really looking for a more festive environment and more grilled options.

We tried a few different bites, and everything was exactly what you want from a spot like this -- flavorful, fresh, and satisfying every single time. Food: The food is really the main attraction here. Nothing overly fancy or trying too hard, just consistently good food that delivers every time. Everything we tried was solid, and it's the kind of place where you already know you're leaving happy before you even order. Service: Service was smooth with no issues at all. The staff kept things moving, and the experience was easy from start to finish. Ambiance: Billy's has that classic Louisiana stop-through feel to it. Nothing extravagant, but it doesn't need to be. There's no host stand or clear seating system, so the entrance felt chaotic. We weren't sure what to do until a nice local told us to just grab a table. We were told breakfast orders would be taken at the table and lunch needs to be ordered separately at the cafeteria style counter. My husband went to the counter to order lunch while I stayed behind, waiting for the server to return with drinks and take our breakfast order, she never did. The smothered pork dish looked worse than school cafeteria, and unfortunately tasted like it too. It was overly salty and the pork had a weird taste to it. Since we had already paid for the lunch item upfront and still hadn't been able to place breakfast order, we decided to cut our losses and went to another restaurant. The main issue here is the overall service experience and the food quality. The interior is old school but immediately chaos; there is a Luby's style ready serve food line and tables as well for dine in. We didn't know but apparently you just find a table and sit down, we were standing around waiting to be seated for a bit. Apparently you order lunch plates at this hot food line and then order breakfast via your server at the table. This makes no sense. We waited 35 minutes for staff to take our breakfast order and beverages unsuccessfully, so I went up and ordered a lunch plate of smothered pork and just paid up front. The guy working the ready made food line was also pretty rude and didn't want to be there; great! It was definitely below Treebeard's level and was very salty and not very flavorful. The sauce that they poured on the rice was extremely salty as well. Meh food quality and the absolute chaos of the brunch dining experience made the brunch meal very unenjoyable for our group. We left afterwards and went to another restaurant to eat.
