The room in the basement was dreary. The food was mediocre (I ordered the spicy crab dip and it was this off white/yellow color that looked like snot with mushrooms even though there were no mushrooms) this tasted like some frozen crab dip you would buy at Kroger add franks red hot and water it down). My husband ordered Hawaiian wings and they just brought him mild buffalo. We had to ask 2-3x to get our check. Probably won't be back, unless I have a drunk flashback to 10 years ago. read more

My friends and I drank a ton of beer here in '96 and they put our names on the wall. That alone deserves a good rating!

Pretty rough time here. Came in, had to seat ourselves, waited 15 mins for waiter. Finally we just went and got ourselves menus then asked the bartender to get the waitress. She was pleasant enough at first but clearly busy "I'm the only one here" she says. That's understandable then but then she forgot to bring sweetener for the tea and never refilled our drinks. The food was bar food, pulled pork Mac and cheese was very bland. The Cajun chicken penne tasted like Applebee's food. Gross. Had to track down the waitress again for the check. read more

This was a confusingly bad meal. Deconstructed BLT: The fried green tomatoes were bland, the sauce was so bland it literally tasted like they took flavor out of it somehow, and the bacon was so thick and chewy it was basically jerky. Fillet special: def not a filet, but a basically tender (despite being way overcooked) piece of weird flat beef with corn and cheese on top. "Smashed potato cakes" were just cooked red potatoes. The side vegetable was cooked salad (literally chopped greens, red onion, and diced tomatoes all sautéed in oil). So yeah. Really weird food. read more

We went here for a first stop on my birthday. We shared several appetizers. The mozzarella sticks were delicious and cheesy. We all had Moscow mules which were well-made. Awesome waitress and friendly waitress. Overall, no complaints. read more

Out of all of the bars in Bloomington, I've named Crazy Horse my bar of choice. There are reviews here that will talk about slow service, which admittedly is an issue if you are expecting quick service. But here, I like to relax. Thursday nights are the time to be there. $3 martinis, long islands, and cosmos are hard to beat. Their food is standard bar grub, and most of it is pretty darned good. The only thing I'd recommend would be to stay away from the cole slaw, which is just odd tasting and not very good. But I like this place, if anything for its less-than-crazy atmosphere. Don't get me wrong, it can get noisy and there are many TVs that are distracting, but it's definitely duller than the rumble of an airplane engine (what you experience at The Tap). Also, even though the service is slow, all of the servers have been more than cordial. I've been pretty pleased with my experience here and I'm excited to keep returning. read more

The decor of this place hasn't changed in 20 years, unfortunately i can't say the same about the quality of service or the food. My wife and i stopped in after an IU baseball game for a beer and sandwich. Our server, who was so mediocre i can't even remember her name, stopped by often enough to 1) take our order 2) serve our food 3) bill us. And the place was less than half full. We both ordered the classic tenderloin sandwiches. The tenderloins were beaten paper thin and then cooked way to long. I felt like i was eating a crispy piece of shoe leather. My mac and cheese was adequate and my wife's fries as plain as a fried potato can be. In my college years the Crazy Horse was a favorite watering hole and dining place. Pros: Can't think of any. Cons: Service was slow When I finally got into Bloomington, it was around 10:30. I was traveling the whole day so I didn't get to eat dinner so I was looking for a place to grab a late night meal. Since this place was right near my hotel I decided to check this place out. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed with this place at all. The service here was crappy. When I got here they said they were still serving regular entrees, but when my waitress finally came over, she said they were only serving appetizers. WTF? I told her that the hostess told me they were serving regular entrees, but she said she couldn't do anything about it. Anyway, when I finally ordered chicken wing tenders and spinach dip, it literally took 45 minutes. I could've sworn all you have to do is deep fry that crap. Even worse, my coworker ordered a beer on tap. However, when she brought it over, it was in a bottle. When my coworker complained, I literally saw the waitress go to the bar and just pour the bottle into a glass. I told my coworker, but he didn't care so I didn't make a big deal about it. Always listen to Yelp!! This was a three star place on Yelp with some not so good reviews. But looking for a beer and something to eat while away for work thought I'd try it. Wrong. I didn't feel welcomed after my long day of work. Bartender was rude and impolite. They did have a number of good beers on tap though. It is nicely decorated with a nice brass top bar. With the bartenders attitude and the 21 year olds that 50% of thier vocabulary is the Fbomb, I had a half a beer and left. Am I just getting old and cranky? Maybe, but how about a little good service, eh? Sorry I stopped in. BTW, a couple next to me were waiting for thier food forever. "Just 10 more minutes " kept saying sunshine. I was, unfortunately, very displeased with this restaurant, in respect to both its food, as well as the quality of its service. To eat, I had Philly cheese steak and fries. Both components of the meal were so salty that I continually had to ask for refills on my drink---and even then, my mouth hurt from all the salt. Moreover, the steak was too dry to really enjoy, and worst of all, the waiter never, ever said, "You're welcome", whenever I would thank him. His choice to engage with my date, but not with me, made me feel unwelcome, and I won't be going back. However, they do have a nice set of TVs. read more

There are a lot of better places to eat in Bloomington but if you are looking for a college bar to have a adult beverage or quick bite it works. I sat at the bar on a Friday evening and had several beers and dinner while my SO was at at a sorority event. The fried mushroom app was very good, lightly breaded with panko bread crumbs, I believe it was portabella mushrooms. My fish and chips was meh. The service was friendly and attentive. This service was great. The food was fair for bar food. Unfortunately, we shared our meal with ants at our table. When reported, we were we told we could move ,but our dinner was complete by that time. Also were told that they saw them yesterday. Guess the extermination of ants are not a priority. Yikes! I would have given three stars if not for the ant issue. Ask for comp for a dessert or meal, but we were told sorry. We were discounted $1.25 on a $35 meal for the ants sharing our meal. We stopped on here on our way home from a bit more south in Indiana. We started with the fried Mac and cheese, which was two huge patties. They came with siracha mayo and we also ordered a side of ranch. They were very good. I then looked at the menu and realized I wanted the crab Mac and cheese, so maybe should've had another appetizer. But, even with the carb overload the Mac and cheese was very good and the crab seemed very fresh. My friend tried a Make your own burger which was also very delicious. S-L-O-W service. Average food. Cool building. Smells like old beer. Pretty streetside outdoor seating. We ordered wings (which I am sure were Tyson-brand Individually Quick Frozen [IQF] wings) with your choice of several bottled sauces poured over them. Which is totally cool - I'm fine with that. It was really the ridiculously slow service. We eventually had to walk in and hunt down our waitress in order to pay. Probably a better bar than a restaurant. My old stomping grounds in Bloomington, IN . Hasn't changed much in the passing years. Same heavy wood decorations and I still love the brass par. They have a good tap beer selection and their famous "Around the World in 80 beers" contest, so plenty to choose from. They also have live music on Sundays still. What gets the place a 3 star from me is the food. It was not good. I had the breaded tenderloin(which was one of my favorites) a Indiana tradition. It was pretty terrible with cold fries. My friend had the spicy chicken bites (or something like that) . They said they couldn't put the sauce on the side for her (why I don't know) and when it came out it was drenched in the sauce and soo terribly spicy you couldn't eat it. If it wasn't one of my old favorites, it would probably get 2 stars. Please get better Crazy Horse read more

Went here with a large group after the Fountain Square tree lighting, so I wasn't terribly surprised to have a bit of slow service. For what it is, I was very pleased with Crazy Horse. I had two martinis - dark chocolate and strawberry shortcake (which looked like and tasted similar to Strawberry Nesquik), and I was quite pleased. I'd even go as far as to say surprised considering this seemed like a pretty typical bar, not somewhere I'd go for a great martini. I had tastes of the chicken strips as well as the spinach artichoke dip and both were quite good. Not a good place for a large group. I went there this past weekend for Fiji moms weekend. We had the back room to ourselves. It had a private bar which was nice. There were probably 70 of us and only had one server. The girl did a great job but definitely could have helped her out if she had a partner. In regards to the food, it was pretty average. We chose this place because it was within walking distance from the Hilton. This is equivalent to a Chili's. It wasn't busy at all. I ordered the classic burger. Burger: wasn't too thick but wasn't too thin. Maybe could have been a bit thicker. The cheese wasn't too much, could have had more. The bacon was too crispy for my likening. Onion costs $0.50 and it came as a chunk of onion; not sliced or diced. The fries were typical thick cut fries; crispy outside, soft inside. The ranch was awesome though. A beer costs $4.75. They serve the food with a slice of cantaloupe which I found weird so I asked the story about that: apparently it's supposed to be a pallet cleanser. They had a poor guy up on stage performing for like 5 people and I kind of felt bad. Why would they schedule people to play when school is out, is beyond me. I would return if I had a coupon voucher like I did this time (my husbands connect week gave $20 vouchers for dining for the week). Had a business lunch here and was very pleased. Service was good and food was delicious. Nice atmosphere and decor which I enjoyed. It was very quiet at lunch after spring break and may be a different place in the evening. We both ate the spicy chicken pasta and finished our large portions without problems. Did not want quite that much but was enjoying it too much to stop! I would go again. My only caveat is the walls are full of TV screens. I am not a fan of having my eyes drawn away or my companion's attention divided. But that is what it is, sports bar. If this does not worry you then it is a terrific place. read more
