I found that behavior very off putting and it happened twice during my discussion with her. Have some respect for your fellow employees as they aren't dogs you can snap your fingers at, they are human and should be treated as such. I ended up leaving and just ordering what I needed from another shop. If the owner or store manager sees this please encourage better behavior. I can't imagine how this employee treats other employees when customers aren't present. The employee who was rude was of Asian decent if this helps identify who was working today.

From the old, old shopping center in the 80s by JC Penny, to the small location by IKEA and then this one, I've been a customer and followed them, literally, since 1986, and learned how to read a pattern through classes that were worth the 30 minute drive to get there, even with a houseful of babies. Got a question? I encourage you to call and ask. You won't be disappointed. I've been told "we'd love to see you but we don't have that in stock right now." The honesty is refreshing. Do they seem busy? Speak up; they're just waiting to hear what you need and will get to you as soon as they can. The best experience is to allow ample time to browse. You'll won't be nagged while deciding on the perfect pattern, and they'll gladly help you choose the perfect yarn to make it, if you can't decide which yarn on your own. I'm treating myself to a special trip just for yarn tomorrow; my birthday present to myself. I can't wait! I'll probably still miss Wynne, but I hope I'm still around to see these ladies retire and pass the store on to the employees who will buy it in the future.

I highly recommend this space if you are looking for some very nice folks to help you find what you need and provide classes of all kinds.

Half of the store is for fiber crafts and the other half is a gift shop with vintage-style offerings like drinking glasses, clothes, accessories, candleholders, and more. I really liked their yarn selection because I don't care for knitting with wool and they had lots of cotton, silk, and bamboo. Their prices are reasonable. I fell in love with yarn called Bamboo Bloom and bought two skeins. The woman who rang me up kindly gave me a copy of a pattern to knit with the yarn, a cute cowl. A knitting class was taking place near the back of the shop while we were there. I eavesdropped and was impressed with the instructor. Much like the other yarn stores I visited while vacationing in Washington, I wish I lived nearby so I could visit there more often.

The space is large and spacious (not cramped or dark). The selection is extensive - both as to yarn and notions. The prices are great as well--I've priced my two go-to yarns at a number of places. They are the cheapest in the Seattle area here, and their prices beat most online vendors. [You get to support a great store with your purchase too!] THE STAFF: All the staff is lovely, but Nicole and Jen deserve special thanks and praise. I've done a number of private one hour lessons with Nicole. She has helped my skills grow so quickly--she is patient and provides the right amount of guidance. Jen's minute check-ins are great for a quick bit of guidance (and she's willing to spend the extra time to wrap things up when I bring in something a little more complicated than I realized). Needles and Hooks was just a nice as the last time I went. The yarn here is more expensive than a Michaels but most if not all yarn will have natural fibers. The person who helped me out is really nice and helped verify my yarn color choices. If you buy a hank of yarn, they'll offer to cake it. I've taken the offer before and it turns out nice. I didn't during this visit. There is a decent amount of people who come to knit on Thursdays but I was there to shop. Shopping during that hour is a bit less popular since people are crafting. Parking is great and I will still mourn the fact they had to move inside the mall from their spot outside with a nice window.

The staff is helpful, friendly, and very knowledgeable. They'll help you as much as you want them to, without being pushy. In my case, there were some yarns that I liked, and they found the right projects for my taste and skill level, made sure I was kitted out, and taught me the techniques I'd need. In case you need patterns, they've got them. There's a full room dedicated to books. Don't miss the clearance section! They also do knitting workshops during week days by reservation, for a very modest fee. They also have classes, though they do fill out fast!

I returned on 3/5/2026, less than 24 hours later, simply to switch the payment to a debit card. The biggest issue wasn't that they couldn't do it -- it was how dismissive and unprofessional the staff were. Three employees were standing together chatting and drinking coffee, and their attitude was essentially, "It's written on the machine, so too bad." There was no courtesy, no effort to help, just a very condescending tone. They also claimed that every store in Leavenworth charges a credit card fee, which was untrue. After visiting many restaurants, galleries, shops, and ice cream stores during my three day trip, this was the only place that did. This ended up being my worst customer service experience in Leavenworth, mainly because of how dismissive the staff were. I would not return.

Cubbies full of different hats made for fun shopping with my parents in July 2017 when we were in downtown for some exploring during one of our family reunions in the area. After taking a hard look at the offerings and dwelling on a Seahawks hat, I decided to go with the Indiana Jones hat. The hat fit my head, nice because my head runs a bit on the large side, and had a large brim, which I find to be helpful for sun protection during geology fieldwork. The price was fair, and the workers helpful. At the time I was concerned the hat may be a bit on the thin side for my purposes. Nope. Almost five years later, the hat is still in great condition. I store it with my handmade Polish sheep/goat-herding hat. They have surprisingly similar structure and dimensions.
