Poor Customer Service. We just moved here and needed a salon for the whole family and decided to give this place a try. Called ahead of time and booked an appointment with the hair stylist Gabriel. We show up early and checked in at the front. We waited pass our appointment time, but he didn't show. Finally I walked up to the front and was told he was still with another client. It is fine that he's still with a client but the girl at the front should I said something to prepare us. Gabriel should have at least introduce himself and gave us a heads up for the wait. I had a haircut with an older asian gentlemen named Gabriel! Although he was kind and polite, I'm not quite sure how hey got carried away with the texturizing, but my hair shape is misshaped (like a triangle cone hair style on top of longer puffy sides), as well as my soft spot curly part now permanently sticks out like an alfalfa hair. However, I want to mention I have him instructions that perhaps were unclear, but I'm not sure. I instructed the older asian man that I'm a big fan of hair texturizing. By the way it was cut makes it look more frizzy, than beach texturize-zy. Anywhow, for being last minute I suppose it is OK. I don't normally write reviews, but we had such a great experience today at Creative Cuts Int'l that I had to do it. I was visiting my mom from out of town, and we took my 8 year old daughter back to school shopping at Del Amo mall. My daughter decided she wanted to not only get a new haircut, but a pixie cut! I was a bit nervous because I don't know any stylists in the area, let alone anybody who could take a walk-in on a Friday afternoon. So I opened my Yelp app and saw that Creative Cuts was close by and had great reviews. I didn't think we'd get in, but I tried calling anyway and the receptionist couldn't have been nicer and said she could get us a slot with Kristy if we came right away. When we got there I was glad and a little surprised to see it was an Aveda salon (I didn't notice that in any of the Yelp info). They took my daughter right away and Kristy was really patient listening to her explaining what she wanted and showing her pictures of ideas she'd found. Kristy really took her time with my daughter and gave her a great cut. My daughter left that salon feeling so great and just beaming. I was so proud of her going for a dramatic change that not a lot of girls her age would have the confidence to pull off. Let me tell you that we went to dinner and another store afterwards and she got several compliments on her hair! Nobody knew us or knew she'd just gotten a new cut, but it looked that great! Had my hair cut and dyed by Gabriel. He is very knowledgeable about hair and gave me a lot of great advice. I got a peek a boo done behind my left ear and Gabriel helped me choose colors that would match my natural hair color. He brought out several color samples to help me compare. Gabriel was very careful and meticulous about my hair. The whole process took about 70 minutes and included a blow-dry and styling. My hair has never felt so soft and light before. Service is what you'd expect from a salon and that they're a Bumble and Bumble shop, Avenda and Head Bead. With those lines of products, you can tell that this place is definitely more upscale. As far as the hair cut, I thought it was just okay. I've had better but I think my hair is tough to cut and it takes a couple of cuts to get it right. I've been going to the ever so bubbly Yoko at Creative Cuts for some time now and love what she does with my hair. She seems to really understand Asian hair and how it needs to be cut, layered, thinned out, and colored. I had a hard time finding a stylist that I trust my hair with and then my girlfriend recommended Yoko to me and I've been a loyal customer ever since. I also like the fact that she can pretty much to it all - cut, color, add bold chunks, highlight... I did have a consult with Quan to get my already straight hair straightened, but his prices were WAY too high (~ $400). I just wanted the process done to lessen my morning prep time, but the at the prices he quoted me you'd think I had super kinky/curly hair that would be difficult to straighten completely. I would recommend going to Kim Young Sun salon in Torrance to get this done instead. They're much cheaper (about $250) and I think first time customers can still print coupons online off their website. read more

She takes care of that every time. I'm growing it right now to cut it again in November. Every time I go in I love the products she uses. She recommended Tigi Bed Head (blue) and I've been using them for over a decade. Even though I'm 54 years old, I'm fortunate enough that I don't need to use any chemical products yet. They harassed me by the manager stefani abe demanding I lie that I got my hair done at creative cuts when I did NOT, but they did leave my daughter under a heat lamp for 2 hours, overcharge her for it when they pressured their sales tactics on her, and threaten police on a child unexpecting a huge bill because she was just asking for a cut. Today I had the pleasure of receiving a haircut from Jason. I am beyond pleased with the results, Jason's work is fantastic! My hair was completely wrecked after a stylist razored the entire length of my waist length hair to thin it out without my consent in September of '19. The only healthy hair I had left was my re-growth from after the razoring which wasn't much. I walked in asking for a pixie as it was my only option with so little healthy hair. As someone who never wanted short hair or a pixie, finding the right stylist was extremely important to me. I conducted an extensive Yelp search and took a chance on Jason due to positive Yelp reviews and photos of his work and I'm glad I did! Jason took the time to listen as I explained to him what happened and why I wanted to cut my hair into a pixie. I explained that I wanted a soft & feminine version of a pixie as I've never had hair this short before. I showed him a picture of the cut I wanted and my end result is close to identical. I wish I remembered my stylist's name but all I can remember is that it started with an M, and it's not Monica. I asked for a cut to get rid of all my dead ends, put in some layers, and thin it out because my hair is thick and wavy. She proceeds to wash my hair and gets shampoo and water on my face and in my ears. After that, we move on to the cutting and she immediately starts cutting before clipping it and parting it. Throughout the process she used her fingers to brush out my hair and it was so painful. She began to blow dry out of nowhere and still used her fingers which made me almost ask to leave at that point. She asked how I style usually and I told her that I just put oil in and call it a day. She goes to the straightener and tells me it'll help maintain it. In the end, she told me that she kept the layers to a minimum so that it will prevent frizz. It is blunt, poofy, and I'm worried about how to work with it now. Not a word of mine was listened to. I will not be going back. read more

What I love about Paula is that she incorporates what you want along with your personality. She asks you questions as to how you perceive yourself to be and then makes suggestions as to how the haircut would suit you based on what you want. Another strong point about Paula is that you can tell she absolutely loves what she does and is passionate about making her clients feel like superstars. She is also savvy about current trends and if you like certain celebrity cuts, she knows exactly what you are talking about. Personally, I have had quite a few stylists give short haircuts but none have ever cut my hair where I feel that "Yes, this haircut is an expression of who I am!!" Linda N. knows what she is doing. Like the other Yelpers who have had her, she's a great listener and tries really hard to make sure she understands what exactly you want. Even if you're unsure, she'll give suggestions. Linda is really nice and has a laid back personality. She doesn't push you to buy products or purchase other services. The staff there is really friendly and it's a clean and welcoming place. It is a bit pricey - my cut and color was about $110, but I rather pay more for a haircut I'm going to love, than a cheaper price for something I'm going to regret. Creative Cuts is an awesome place - I recommend calling in advance for an appointment since this place gets booked really fast. There IS a difference between a $30/$45 haircut and a $58 haircut! To my recollection, I've never spent more than $45 for a haircut. I've bopped around the South Bay, Los Angeles and Eagle Rock asking for a layered cut. One thing all these hairdressers, who charged in the $30 to $45 range, had in common was the layers they cut were not well blended. They would cut heavy, wedgy chunks where you could see exactly where they took their scissors and cut. If you've gotten layers, you know what I mean. I've been to another hairdresser at this salon (a $45 cut), I won't name names, but I don't see her mentioned in other reviews PRIOR TO TODAY'S DATE, who was cutting the same chunks. I've even brought realistic photos (meaning not models who've spent hours getting styled and are standing in front of a wind machine) from magazines and had the haircut not look anything like the photo. I've seen actresses and yes, even Laura Diaz, the newscaster on Channel 2, get layers that were nicely blended in. I've seen regular people on the street with nice layers, but I was not getting them from my hairdressers. Until now. I found Tadashi's name in previous reviews and took a chance even though I've never paid $58 for a haircut. I just didn't want to spend the time anymore to wait for a bad cut to grow out, so I decided to spend the money. As I told my friend afterwards, SO WORTH IT. I saw him last Sunday morning (points for being open on a Sunday, mellow and quiet, unlike Saturdays). My appointment was at 9 a.m. I arrived at 8:55, and he was already there, ready to go. I always try to get the earliest appointment in the morning, and often, other hairdressers have arrived late, sometimes 1/2 hr. late. First, Tadashi had a consultation with me, and I explained what I want and DIDN'T want. I brought photos to illustrate. Then his assistant, Linda (tip her, too), washed my hair and gave me a mini scalp massage. Tadashi proceeded to cut my hair. During, I could tell the cut was going to be great. He pulled my hair in different directions and cut layers all around. He explained as he went along why he was cutting this and that. He even asked for my feedback on how I wanted my bangs and made recommendations. When I thought he was done, he walked me back to the hairwash bowl and rinsed my hair with water. Then back to the chair where he gave me a mini neck massage, then cut some more, then styled it. He also explained how I should style it at home. He spent over an hour, not because he was slow, but because he was meticulous about his work. Even though a lot of my hair ended up on the floor, I don't feel like the cut was too short, like "Oh, it'll look better in a month when it grows out a bit." My cut feels fresh and modern. And for the first time, I am satisfied with the layers. It's a wash-and-go style. It would look even nicer if I spent the time to style it, but it still looks great as-is. After when I was paying at the counter, the owner, Evelyn (?) came and introduced herself and welcomed me. The cashier gave me a welcome gift bag of a couple sample bottles of shampoo, a packet of hair gel, and a pen. I don't know if it's a new thing they're doing since as I said earlier, I'd been to that salon before a couple of times with a female hairdresser and didn't get that kind of reception, but it was still nice of them. read more

Thank god I had the good fortune of discovering Roselle just weeks before my wedding. I went through several bridal trial makeups recommended by online reviews, from Brea to West LA, but none topped Roselle's flawless makeover. I completely transformed to a beauty queen on my wedding day. I would have paid her 4 digit price if she asked for it. I have very sensitive skin and eye allergies. But she didn't make me tear up with lashes or eyeliners, and it was very early in the morning when I wasn't even fully awake. She was fully prepared, very fast and professional, finished my makeup under one hour. Pow wow~ work of a genius... At my wedding, first question every girl asked me was, "Who did your makeup?? It's gorgeous.. " Even my vendors asked for my makeup artist's name. I was so amazed that my eyeliners, fake lashes, and everything were still perfectly intact hours later, even after my many emotional cries. My friends and sisters all agreed my makeup was the BEST work they've ever seen in any weddings. So I usually go to a barber and get buzzed/faded. but I have been letting it get long lately and wanted to try a new style. I searched Yelp and saw a place with 4 1/2 stars with over 100 reviews. Cant miss, right? I want to keep this as fair as possible. The upsides- Having never been there, the people on the phone were nice and accommodating. I called on a Saturday and was told there wasn't anything until Sunday. I made the appointment, then later in the day was called about a spot that did open up Saturday. I declined and took the next day, but I thought it was nice of them to try and fit me in. The inside is very nice and pleasant. The booths are set up so that not everyone has their backs to each other- there is a bit more privacy. The downside- The cut. This was the only thing preventing a higher rating, since the cut is what I went for, not for friendly service and décor. First, even though they called a few times (which was nice), each time I was told a different name who was to be my stylist, and when I got there it was a whole other person entirely. I don't want to throw this person under the bus since I have no idea how good she might be normally, so no names given, but she barely cut it. She used all these fancy terms about where my hair bends but all said and done my friends basically laughed like "dude, did you even get your hair cut?" And when I told them that it was $35 I really got laughed at and was told Supercuts would do better for $20. Maybe I should ask my friends BEFORE I Yelp lol. read more

My rating is not as much for the shop as for the hairdresser/artiste Ms. PAULA!! 5 stars to the hairdresser who welcomed me nicely and sat with me while we went through photos of hair styles and talked about where I was, what I'd like to have, what I don't want, etc. She was patient and asked questions and was genuinely interested in making me happy. When she realized I wanted an edgy non-traditional cut, she got giddy!! :) She is a super cute, quietly bubbly, highly talented hair artist. After a double shampoo, and nice scalp massage while the invigorating conditioner was on my hair, Paula went to work on her masterpiece. Through the transformation from soccer mom to edgy sassiness, she constantly made sure we were on the same page, when I would suggest something, she would give an honest answer and give me options if she felt maybe my suggestion wasn't the best thing for me. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate this!! I know we ALL have had that stylist that when you suggest something and they know it won't work, they passive aggressively go "alright, well you asked for it" and ruin your hair and blame it on you. I must say that not only did Paula do a wonderful job on my hair, she was just the right amount of talkative, she was friendly and open but not pushy, we talked about hair, and life, scents, taking care of elder parents and other lovely life discussions. I came about 10 minutes late to my appointment, but they were gracious enough to let me keep my appointment. Claudia was my hair dresser, and I was very happy with her work. Overall it didn't take very long, about 30 minutes including a hair wash. She knows exactly what needs to be done and went for it. I came in for some trimming and layering. Claudia also gave me some tips on how to style my wavy hair, she showed some products that I can try out on my hair (but none of the sales pressure which I really appreciate). I came out with my hair already styled, though shortly lived as soon as I put my helmet. Probably should have timed my hair cut better lol. The place has more of an independent feel to it, because each stylist can bring their own products. I totally like the vibe. what a coincidence! I had written a review about Linda N. on behalf of my friend like eons ago... and I went in to Creative Cuts to get a cut yesterday morning and ended up getting Linda N. also! But let's start from the beginning. When I walked in, I was happy to find that the salon was clean and didn't smell like hair products. It was quite busy at 9am on a Saturday morning. There was complimentary coffee and a selection of teas in the waiting area. Caffeine in the morning? Yes please. I watched the regulars chat it up with the staff. The regulars were diverse, and the staff were all Asian of the non-fobby sort. I was handed a little goody bag of hair and skin products for being a first-time customer. Free stuff, hells yes. So I meet Linda N., and she is awesome. She is chill and easy to talk to, and asks you all the right questions to get an idea about how your hair should look. I didn't really know what I wanted, so I just told her "I want it short, off my neck, and a little longer in the front." An hour later, my hair is fabulous. It's just what I wanted: simple but stylish. And did I mention, flawless? Nice salon but the front staff is a little disorganized. I arrived a few minutes early for my appointment & checked in with the receptionist. After my appointment time came & went I asked how much longer it would be as I was a little pressed for time. Turns out the receptionist hadn't even let my stylist know I was there yet. Fortunately my stylist was doing nothing and took me back right away. I went in for a single color and was told the price would be $75-$95 but when I left I was charged $110. No haircut mind you, just for one all-over color. No highlights or anything either. Christina did a nice dye job but since her next appointment was early, she seemed rushed when she was attempting to dry my hair. She was very friendly though, and I appreciated her mellow demeanor. read more
