If you are a shade-gardening enthusiast, or anyone looking for easy to care for plants for a shady…read morearea, Hostas on the Bluff is an absolute must-visit. While they historically focused just on hostas and hellebores, they look to have expanded their inventory to include a variety of other plants this season. The hellebores were out of season during my recent spring visit, but the hosta selection was incredible. I brought home four new plants: two stunning, blue-green 'Halcyon' and two crisp, white-edge 'Patriot' hostas. The retail operation recently moved three minutes down the road from the original property (which is now a display garden) to a historical 1920s brick schoolhouse. The retail plants are housed in a massive greenhouse on-site. They are still organizing the inventory by hosta size, but it's already mostly easy to navigate and a blast to explore. The customer service is low-key but knowledgable. I initially didn't realize the woman working was an employee since she was dressed in a college hoodie, but she turned out to be very helpful and knowledgeable about the varieties. Between the unique schoolhouse setting and the unparalleled selection, this is a local treasure for plant lovers! The Breakdown Selection: + Quality: Pricing: Staff Helpfulness: Vibe:

Honestly, I don't know how many stars to give this place. Thursday, my fiancée and I visited this…read morenursery. Upon walking up we were instantly greeted and asked for assistance. We were there for about 10 minutes, we were advised to come back tomorrow, the soil we needed would be available. We didn't come back the very next day, we came today which is Saturday. We walked up, a lady who seem to be the "worker" was talking to a couple. The couple left, so it's myself, my fiancée and another customer who was off picking flowers. As we were looking for the "workers" who helped us on Thursday, we see who we assume is another "worker" She looks in the opposite of our direction, walks to a section where I suppose flowers were in desperate need of watering, started watering the flowers without acknowledging us whatsoever. After walking further into the nursery, still looking for the "workers" from the previous visit, still no acknowledgement from the "worker" who was only 15ft away. My fiancé says, "do you want me to see if she can help us?" I then say to the "worker" "do you work here?" "Are you assisting anyone?" She replies, "Yes, I work here, do you need help?" I asked, " do you greet customers?" Her answer lead me right out the door. She replies, " Yes I was assisting some people earlier. My reply, "thanks but no thanks we'll go somewhere else. I would like to tell you, if you read this "Ms. Worker" whatever personal issues you have within yourself, put them aside and make yo money. Money is green if you didn't know....now ya know! I hope the "workers" I was initially looking for, retrain her. Maybe she will buy what we intended, to make up for your loss.

The store manager [don't know her name we will refer to her as DEI] is MOST DEFINITELY a DEI hire…read moreshe knows nothing about customer service or how to handle customer SATISFACTION situation. She has that I am a "BIG SHOT" attitude that I saw when she first walked up to me. This job has her so far up from everyone else it literally STINKS like her. I knew at that point I was going to get no satisfaction. The DEI hire [don't know her name so we will just call her DEI] has a job that she has no business being there. I have a BRAND NEW mower with 9 hours that has been sitting there for 31 days and no parts have yet been ordered for it. The technician does not know that much about mowers I can tell being a Journeyman mechanic for 34 years as he tried to shoot some bull at me about the problem and I told him I am not you normal uneducated person. He is trying to tell me the forward and reverse arms are worn out from using them to get on & off the tractor. REALLY !!!! worn out with 9 hours on it? I asked him DO YOU BELIEVE THAT STORY and he stated that is what he is told. Talked to 5 other facilities that repair these mowers and one technician started LAUGHING. I ask him so the mower has been sitting in your store for months or days and the fault could have occured right in your store but you are blaming me. The technician has NO IDEA or even HOW to fix this MADE UP bull%$#@ problem he invented because he does not really know what is wrong. The first time it was explained to me it was rubbing on the frame then it got moved to being my fault for using the arms to pull up on the tractor [which I never did] it was something he made up because he does not know why the right side of the mower moves slower on the right than left side. When DEI [manager] took me to the back to talk about it and this technician came up with the fairy tale pulling on the arm bull%$#@ I told him I have been working on cars for over 55 years he will have to do better than that. It was at this point DEI jumped in and started acting like a 3rd grader swinging her POSITION around. I stated to her if I was the owner I would FIRE you at that point she told me to get out of the store. There was a big hulk like thing in the back and her came up to me got in my face like he was going to throw me out. I told him you lay one hand on me and I will own every mower in this store. So I left 15 minutes later I get a call from a police officer wanting to get my approval to repair the mower. REALLY what does a police office have to do with getting my mower fixed that has been there for almost 40 days. They had the approval or I would have never called them to come and get it to fix it. IF IT IS UNDER WARRANTY WHY DO I HAVE TO GIVE AN APPROVAL?? and why does a police officer have to get involve? THIS IS HOW STUPID THIS SOUNDS YOU BUY A BRAND NEW CAR FROM A DEALER TAKE IN FOR WARRANTY WORK BUT THEY HAVE A COP CALL YOU TO GET YOUR APPROVAL FOR A REPAIR THEY NEED NO APPROVAL FOR THE OWNER FOR AS LONG AS IT IS UNDER WARRANTY Taking the mower to another shop so they can PROPERLY DIAGNOSE the problem and where there will be a technician who knows about mowers and can repair them
