I had a really uncomfortable experience here. I came in with a gel manicure and asked to have it removed, then just wanted a regular manicure with no polish. From the start, the staff made me feel unwelcome, as if it was strange to ask for such a simple service. While removing the polish, the nail tech asked if it was gel. I said yes. Then two other workers came over and just stood over her, staring at my nails for several minutes, which felt awkward and unnecessary. The tech asked again if it was gel, and I again said yes. Despite this, she insisted it was dip, paused for a bit, then said again, "See? This is dip." I felt like I was being accused of lying about my own nails. It was frustrating and honestly rude. Instead of listening, they doubled down on being "right" and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. The customer service was poor, they weren't friendly, and I would not recommend this place. A little respect and professionalism go a long way, and unfortunately, I didn't experience either here. read more

Great pedicure at Creative Nails! I spied this little place one day when I stopped at Breadsmith. I hadn't had a pedi in far too long and so I looked it up and it had positive reviews! So I called to make an appointment and they said to come on in! It was a great experience and I'll be back! A classic pedicure costs $30. I think I was charged an extra $1 for using my credit card instead of cash because my total for a classic pedicure and nail design would've been $36 and my cost was $37. The salon is clean and there is plenty of polish to choose from! The lady that did my nails offered a design and that seemed fun so she did some cute hearts on my big toe nails! Super cute! I am new to the area and picked this place because it claimed to be "kid friendly." My two granddaughters are here visiting and we went to try it out. I myself left and ended up getting an ingrown toenail as the gentleman who gave my my pedicure didn't cut my toenails correctly. My youngest granddaughter had a bad experience and doesn't ever want to go back because the lady who did her mani pedi used the wrong nail polishes and not the ones my granddaughter picked out. Then she tried to keep my granddaughter under the light to dry them much longer than needed. I finally told my granddaughter that she could get up and go set in a chair by the door. My granddaughter is very quiet and well behaved. She told me that the lady didn't use the pretty nail polish color that she had picked out. I went to tell the lady and to kindly ask her if she could change the color of the polish. I would of even paid the extra money! Instead the woman started jabbering in her language and told me that I was wrong and that is the color she picked out! She was rude. I know my granddaughter would not pick an orange color as she likes pinks and purples. And what happened to the customer is always right, even when in some cases they aren't! Lol! In this case, if the lady would of just changed the color of the nail polish, I would of gladly paid her extra. But with her hateful attitude I will never take my granddaughters back, nor will I go back. read more

My one and only experience was getting a mail fill at 3pm on a Tuesday- I was the only one in the salon- 2 hours later, they will still not done continuously re-doing my fill. This was my first visit at this nail Salon. The services I received was a Dip manicure with a Pedicure. The Nail tech was through with my Dip manicure. However, I don't think my nail tech used the color sample I chose. The salon is clean but I would recommend bringing your own Polish if you are wanting a Mani or Pedi with traditional nail polish. The selection is slim and the polishes that we're available seemed old and thick or thinned out my polish remover. I don't think salons as a whole are investing a lot in teadional, basic polish because shellac and Dip are so popular. But I think if they are offered, organized good quality new polish colors are important to offer. The colors and quality of basic colors were sad and made it difficult for me to find a color and also find a color in good condition was slim pickings. The service was good not great. They did a a nice, high quality Mani/Pedi. The missing star is that there is nothing special about this salon. The basic color choices were old and the Dip colors to look through were confusing and disorganized. Still, a solid salon. You won't be blown away on any level but they get the job done. Your Mani/Pedi will look pretty and finished. The staff is not super nice. They do not offer a lot of fresh new polish colors and will not did not go above and beyond but were pleasant and did a nice job. After my first manicure with Lena, the salon owner, I thought "Oh, thank God, I finally found someone who knows how to do acrylics." Unfortunately, the next 7 manicures went steadily downhill until yesterday when she hit bottom. First of all, as the owner of the shop, Lena answers the phone, greets walk-ins, and, from time-to-time, would interrupt my service to provide an eyebrow or lip waxing to a walk-in. Even though I had a standing appointment for the same time every two weeks, I usually had to wait between 10 and 15 minutes before I could get into the chair. And while I understood that in a post-pandemic world every dollar counts, those frequent interruptions and late seatings meant that I was in the chair far longer than I had time to be. Lena attended to the cleanliness of her station during our first visit, but then became less and less attentive until I found myself blowing other people's dust away from the table so I could set my phone down on a clean area. As far as the quality of her work, my request to her was simple: I have rather large hands and wide nail beds, so in order to create an illusion of grace, I like my nails narrow, squared, and not too short. If I could upload a picture of what she did yesterday, you would see nails that are wide, rounded and way too short. You would also see nails that are filed to weird angles - for some reason, she could never seem to file a straight edge. The final straw yesterday was a nail repair that she did on my thumb. Rather than apply the acrylic over a form to fill out a broken section, she did it freeform and, predictably, adhered the acrylic to my skin. She tried separating it from my skin using her nail, but when that didn't work, she filed the acrylic away from my skin and filed away some of the skin in the process. I'm applying antibiotic cream to ward off an infection. At the end of this disaster, she ran my charge, left me the receipt to sign, and while I washed my hands, she disappeared into the back. We both knew that was going to be my last visit. Here's what I don't understand: We all screw up. It happens. Yesterday was clearly an epic fail. What is so difficult about owning it and apologizing? "Gee, I'm sorry, I know you're disappointed. I will do better next time. This manicure is on me." It may be that she just didn't want me as a customer, but my guess is that words to that effect have never crossed her lips. When I first started going to Creative Nails, several people asked me where i get my nails done and I gave them her name. I feel like calling all of them back and telling them not to bother. Maybe they'll read this review and look for someone better. read more

I've been seeing Andy and Lena at Creative nails for months. After today's visit I feel compelled to share my experiences. My previous appointments were for pedicures. They were always wonderful. High quality work by very nice, caring people. Today I booked a gel manicure with Andy. OMGOSH, it was amazing! I asked for French tips. At several pervious salons, they always used a template for the tips. Andy did it all by hand....gorgeous job! Oh, and did I mention the mani/pedi given to my 8 year old granddaughter? I've been getting my nails done here for nearly 6 years!! Prior to to this place, I never stayed loyal to a nail salon for more than a few months. Dan does my nails and he runs the salon with his wife, Helen. He does an excellent job on my nails (acrylics) and I get compliments all the time - as in people will stop me in random places to ask where I get them done. The best thing is he works super fast - you can be done within 30 minutes for a regular fill. They also run on time, they don't overbook nor will they take walk ins right before your appointment time. As in decor, it's a typical nail salon. Although 'tanning' is still in the name, they don't offer it anymore. LOVE!! read more

Dan & Helen are friendly and professional. They know how to form pink & whites the right way...using a brush and not some metal form. A back fill only takes 30 minutes, whereas other salons take an hour. They know what they're doing, so they get it done quickly, without sacrificing quality of work. It's also easy to communicate with them about what you want, which has been a challenge for me at other salons. If you go in for a pedicure, don't expect to be blown away though. They're assistant has done my pedicures and they're "eh", at best. There's no real massage of the feet and my heels tend to feel worse (dry and rough) only after a couple of days. On the other side, they don't push the up-sell for everything. You tell them what you want and they do it. But my review is specific to nails...they are the best that I've found in the Marana/Oro Valley area. Dan and Helen can have full schedules, so be sure to give yourself a few days for scheduling, but they do have late evening appointments too. read more

This was my go to for nails about five years ago and I'm Happy to say they are my go to again. After my fiasco with the other nail salon I decided to call them and ask them to fix my full set. They had me come right in and began filing off the thick powder and just redid my nails to a short length but very thin and natural looking. The lady there works fast and she was happy and friendly and interested in talking to me. She recognized me from five years ago and said she remembered me and I thought that was very impressive. The prices here are cheaper too and they do not use any type of nail tip or metal shape for the smile line on pink and white. They freehand the white and go over it with your choice of pink color and there are three choices. Then the best part: they file, file, file!!! You can't put on acrylic powder and not file and pretend it looks good. IT DOESN'T! It's refreshing to know someone knows what they are doing. read more

Helen has done my mani and pedi every time I go so I don't know how Dans work is. I have been a loyal customer for a while now. They gained me as a customer when I went an hour before closing and they stayed and didn't rush me. I even messed up my toes and they fixed it after hours. I love the pedicure because they use sea salt and hot stones. My french pedicure lasts about a month and she does a great job. It's hard to find a nail place that you like enough to frequent regularly. After a friend recommended this salon, we gave it a try. We needed fills done on our acrylics (that we had gotten done at a place that broke the skin on almost every one of my fingers. Never again). Dan and Helen are great! We made apps which I would recommend because they stay busy consistently. The owners talked and joked with us the entire time. The other customers you could tell were regulars and knew the employees well. We have definitely found our nail place.
