Long story short, this contractor bust suspense and went over budget - two things that are super important for contractors. On top of that Mr. Dale Hurt (owner) damaged the property and did not take accountability for his actions. When I addressed my concerns he became very disrespectful and threatening to both myself and elderly mother. Because Mr. Hurt breached contract and damaged my mothers property I did not pay him the remainder of the contract until he agreed to work with me to fix what he'd broken. He was content with leaving my mother without lights and power in bedrooms and sued me for the remainder of the contract. I countersued for the damages and breach of contract. The judge took one look at the pictures included here (Mr. Dales attempts at staining hardwoods) and ruled in my favor. This post is not to bad talk a contractor because there is plenty more I could say, it is to warn the next person who might not have the money to go to court to fight for what's right. It is to prevent the next older person from being taken advantage of. And hopefully, will help Mr. Dale do better work and stay professional. At least to die unto others the way he would want someone to do towards him. Operate ethically, and have some integrity. After retrieving the normal half retainer he left the state and did not return until 3 days of completion. This means for over a month there was NO ONE supervising. Each area of project had to be redone more then twice. And the mess and personal property damages they left behind were astonishing. Its also unfortunate none of his employees speak English which becomes a barrier when needing direction. If you dont mind the results being "just ok" from unpaid employees who ask you for their money then Ephraim Floors is for you. Good luck
