It was built in 1998, and it was funded by an ODOT Timber Grant.[1] The bridge's WGCB number is 35-04-63,[2] and it is located approximately 2.0 mi (3.2 km) east of Jefferson. Root Road Bridge is a covered bridge spanning the west branch of the Ashtabula River in Monroe Township, Ashtabula County, Ohio, United States. The bridge, one of currently 16 drivable bridges in the county, is a single span Town truss design. During its renovation in 1982-83, the bridge was raised 18 inches (460 mm), and a new center pier was added.[1] The bridge's WGCB number is 35-04-09,[2] and it is located approximately 6.3 mi (10.1 km) southeast of North Kingsville. It was constructed in 1868 (so old!!) and renovated in 1982-83. It is a former toll road just east of there ran north and south through the county. Dwight and Gertrude (Hallam) Root, had a son Herbert Root. Herbert married Frances Whitlam, daughter of John H. Whitlam, one if not the first Superintendent of Roads in Ashtabula County, for twenty five years. He possibly was involved in the construction of the earlier bridges. Span: 82 feet 4 inches (25.10 m) Length: 112 feet (34 m) Width: 11.3 feet (3.4 m) Height: 10 feet 2 inches (3.10 m) Overhead clearance: 9 feet 4 inches (2.84 m)

Glacial Grooves is a beautiful and interesting stop on the island. It's in/part of the state park,…read morebut since it's pretty popular, has it's own parking, and then the trail connects to the North Shore loop. The grooves are pretty cool to see, and there were some informative plaques to explain the history and geology of the place. It won't take you long to see, unless you're hiking the trails. We went back a second time for the trail, and minus an off-leash uncontrolled dog incident, had a pretty good time.

I have great admiration for those who've served, and stood up for our freedoms; many being family members. I've come here a few times on gravesite location searches for a local genealogy agency, and I was pleased to know that there was a gravesite locator at the main office, which prints off a map for the grave of the person you search, with a site number, and section number. This is especially handy for those looking for members of their family tree, and a nice added touch.

Coining here I was in and out in no time at all I'm not sure if it's always like that but on this given day it was definitely super fast as when compared to courts in other states I've lives in! The staff and the cops were both super friendly and helped me get to where I needed to go and got my paperwork done quickly so that was definitely awesome! They do have a rule of no cell phones inside so make sure you leave it in your car or another safe place! Also as the current strange era we are living in they are requiring you to wear a mask when you enter to help keep others safe! Overall it's a court house that you can tell has been here for many years and I must say it definitely was a positive experience coming here!

People are treat with respect and without judgement. They really seem to try and go above and beyond to help you achieve whatever you may seeking to do. Very kind people if i do say so myself.

I didn't go and visit the house, I didn't take the tours, I was about to base it on how it didn't personally fit my needs. I would have wanted to camp there and realize it wasn't for me. Now for the positive, it's a beautiful place and it has great historic value. I loved the store. The young person behind the counter was so nice and helpful. We bought a gallon of maple syrup and a smaller one for our camper. It was on sale for 10% discount. The greatest thing though is that they sell fresh meat from the farm. They have a cool place for the kids on the other side of the store. The cute parrot pictured was in the lobby.

To my surprise, my teens enjoyed walking around the grounds as well as the "wheel of fate". I enjoyed the scenic views while capturing the joy our visit to Fort Meigs brought my family. I have always loved ships. I've toured a handful of historic ships over the years. U.S.S…read more Constitution? Check. WWII submarine? Check. Mid-19th-century schooner? Check. Early 20th-century Great Lakes freighter? Hmm... So perhaps this ship does not have the romanticism or historical significance of the others. It is an impressive sight, quite long and stolid. In operation from 1911 to 1980, it was the largest freighter in the world when launched and set some cargo records during its first few years before being eclipsed by ever-advancing technology. It was also well known for luxury which supposedly rivalled the famous trans-Atlantic liners. Up to the modern day it is recognized as a relic of the so-called Golden Age of Great Lakes shipping, but although I respected its achievements, I couldn't quite conjure up the reverence and awe that it seemed to be asking for. Obviously the ship has seen better days, but it could be spiffier. Many spots need a buff with Rust-Away and a new paint job. In any case, this would be a fun place to take the kids, and frankly it's one of the few things worth doing or seeing in Toledo.
