About a year and half ago my dentist moved out of state, so I was in need of a new dentist.. I had been putting it off because the thought of sitting in another dental chair gives me anxiety due to some of the traumatic experiences I've endured over the years. After doing extensive research, I came across the Marin Advanced Dental Care office. Made my first appointment a few months back and I was very happy with the hygienist's (Kim) work. She was detailed with her cleaning, and I felt like I was in the hands of someone who cared. Also, I needed a crown and some other dental work so I saw Dr. Smida for the first time. He had a calm and caring demeanor to start which was nice. His assistant- Katie was knowledgeable and friendly as well. Now that I have received his work on my teeth, I am very satisfied. My front tooth needed repair and now looks and feels better than ever and my new crown fits perfectly. It's nice to find a specialist who takes their job seriously - presenting fine work and has a nice personality to match. Very pleased with this entire office. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a new dental office. :)

A lot of people have fear of going to the dentist. This office, which is headed by the amazing Lionel, who makes you feel right at home. I highly recommend for many reasons, affordability, extremely skilled prowess, great attention to details whether it is a crown, an implant an extraction or a bone graft you could be assured that this is the one office that will do everything efficiently and affordably. This team is so kind, soothing, professional, and most importantly, gentle. There were mistakes made with billing from the start, but even worse, I called bc I had part of a crown that cracked on my tooth. They said the soonest he could see me was 4 WEEKS later. Despite me calling to say I had started to have pain and I thought something was wrong, they wouldn't give me an earlier appointment. Then they cancelled on me and it took MONTHS for a reschedule, despite all the info I had given about my situation. THEN THEY CANCELLED on me AGAIN the day of the rescheduled appointment after I had already taken off work and they didn't tell me about it until I was at the office. I can't make this up. THIS COST ME $4K in a root canal and crown (even with insurance) at another dentist. I am truly beyond frustrated and upset about the entire experience. They never apologized or addressed the issue afterwards. They don't care about the well-being and needs of their patients enough to pay attention to serious requests. I heard that the reason they can't keep enough hygienists around (and thus don't have enough appointment slots) is because they refuse to get rid of long standing office staff who are not competent, and people don't want to work in that environment. I genuinely doubt my urgent requests about my tooth were even brought up to Michna or anyone else there. I never take the time to write reviews, but this behavior was egregious and I want to warn others.

Dr. Michna doesn't push unnecessary procedures and one feels a great deal of trust in his skill. He has done a few filling replacements and one crown over the last 6 years. Each time he showed me exactly where the problem was and why a procedure was needed. He is as good if not better than the Dental practice he purchased several years ago. We drove all the way from Petaluma (about 40 minutes), but due to traffic we arrived at 11:27. When we got there, we were told they could no longer see us. What was frustrating wasn't that they couldn't accommodate us--it was the lack of communication. If arriving at 11:27 was too late, I wish they had told me that when I called or contacted me while I was driving so I could have turned around or rescheduled instead of making the trip. It was disappointing to spend so much time driving with my daughter only to be turned away.
