Similar to the other 'one…read morestar' reviews, this company started out in a 'professional enough' manner, connecting with us in a relatively short period of time after first being referred to us by Fidelity Nat'l Home Warranty, however, their professionalism went down hill quickly. Again, similar to previous reviews, after taking several weeks to have someone come out and 'diagnose' the problem with our appliance, the paperwork was never turned it so that the 'next step' could be taken to schedule an actual technician. I had to make several follow up calls to ARP to get someone in to do the work. As they only seem to service my area only early in the week, I had to take off work to make sure someone was home and wouldn't you know it? They cancelled an hour before they were supposed to show up. By this time, we had waited 5 weeks from the time of our initial contact til now. After complaining to (one of several managers, it seems), I was told someone would come back out on a day more convenient for me. Someone did come out, worked on the appliance, and left, telling me he ran the appliance to make sure it worked. It didnt. Trying to reschedule again (now, 2 months later) has been a nightmare. When the receptionist is out, it seems they fill her position with someone who is not able to help and has little or no ability to make scheduling decisions. It was after my final conversation with 'manager' Ken that I decided to cancel my policy with Fidelity (making the referral to ARP), Ken's sh*tty, unprofessional attitude was the final straw needed to cut ties with both. We paid a service fee ($75) to have someone cancel on us and then NOT correct the problem. Before my own experience with this company, I read a customer review calling these folks 'crooks' - absolutely correct. Urgent (repeated) warning: do not work with South Sound Appliance/Appliance Repair Plus. They are crap!

They came back and re-sided the chimney, but didn't bother to follow the maunfacturers instructions. I emailed them three times asking them if they were going to address this, and they haven't even taken the time to reply. As the President of our Board of Directors, I'm tasked with doing my best to protect everyone's investment. One way I'll do that is by never hiring these guys again.

In fact, once he's designed your solution he will provide you with links to the exact products required and let you buy them directly from the vendors if desired. Or he'll buy them himself and present you with the receipts. Hourly rate: With the skills Shawn possesses, his hourly rate is substantial. And it should be. However, you can still bring your project in at a very reasonable cost PROVIDED you can be a smart customer. By this I mean you must be clear on the capabilities you want to achieve--or at least be able to listen to Shawn describe what's possible and then make rapid decisions. If instead you want a lot of customer education, Shawn can do that too because he knows an immense amount about IT and can communicate effectively. However, it's a bit like paying for a neurosurgeon to teach you about the types of aspirin available to treat a headache. That doesn't make sense; get a nurse instead! In my case, my wife and I work from the house. My goals were to increase the reliability of our home network. We wanted better maintainability (so when the internet goes down I can rapidly identify the problem and fix it). We wanted better network security. I wanted to add a home security camera because of problems with car prowls, etc. And finally, I wanted to move our networking gear out of our super-hot furnace room to a cooler and cleaner location. This was a lot. Other vendors had previously failed to come up with an affordable solution--or any solution at all. Shawn showed us how to do it for a very reasonable sum. Once we had a plan, I was able to control costs by getting a carpenter friend to open up the wall and pull wires through to the new location for the gear. Shawn also kept costs down by allowing me to provide extra hands as he mounted gear on the wall, connected all of our wireless access points to the new console, etc. These steps all require two people. Shawn was willing to let me help and he even maintained a high level of wit and good-natured ribbing throoughout the long day of work. In sum: great outcome, great satisfaction, great price.
