If I could give SOUTH SOUND APPLIANCE/ARP a 'zero' I absolutely would. Similar to the other 'one star' reviews, this company started out in a 'professional enough' manner, connecting with us in a relatively short period of time after first being referred to us by Fidelity Nat'l Home Warranty, however, their professionalism went down hill quickly. Again, similar to previous reviews, after taking several weeks to have someone come out and 'diagnose' the problem with our appliance, the paperwork was never turned it so that the 'next step' could be taken to schedule an actual technician. I had to make several follow up calls to ARP to get someone in to do the work. As they only seem to service my area only early in the week, I had to take off work to make sure someone was home and wouldn't you know it? They cancelled an hour before they were supposed to show up. By this time, we had waited 5 weeks from the time of our initial contact til now. After complaining to (one of several managers, it seems), I was told someone would come back out on a day more convenient for me. Someone did come out, worked on the appliance, and left, telling me he ran the appliance to make sure it worked. It didnt. Trying to reschedule again (now, 2 months later) has been a nightmare. When the receptionist is out, it seems they fill her position with someone who is not able to help and has little or no ability to make scheduling decisions. It was after my final conversation with 'manager' Ken that I decided to cancel my policy with Fidelity (making the referral to ARP), Ken's sh*tty, unprofessional attitude was the final straw needed to cut ties with both. We paid a service fee ($75) to have someone cancel on us and then NOT correct the problem. Lowes assigned Appliance Repair Plus to us for washer repair. We live on a Naval base and I explained that to gain base access I would need to meet the repair person at the gate and they would need current ID. As soon as I mentioned the base the receptionist put me on hold and quickly came back to say they don't repair appliances on base. I made sure she understood it was a privately owned appliance - that didn't matter. No repairs on base - period. How disappointing to be refused service because we are a military family. These lovely people are crooks. They have charged me over $500 to fix a GE range. They purchased parts, installed them and they did not work. When I called to ask for them to send a technician to fix the problem, I received a call from owner (?) to say that I was the problem (not the range). After moving into a new house with a home warranty, we had problems with the refrigerator. The downside to these home warranties is you have no control over which company gets dispatched. The advantage is, you're often able to evaluate the differences between companies. After a couple of other companies 'fixed' the refrigerator, only to have it fail again, we were sent Darren from Appliance Repair Plus. Darren was polite and professional. Most importantly, he was good at his job, identifying problems the other companies missed. He was professionally respectful, but when I pressed him on it he explained what the others had missed, and how/why they missed it. His explanations displayed his knowledge and thoroughness. I have to admit, I was hesitant after reading the reviews here, but I have to say, my experience was awesome! I do not have transportation, so I called the store and spoke with Sherry. I explained my situation to her and she actually helped me shop over the phone! She went, several times through the store to give me prices and share a description of several washers with no complaints at all. And they were busy too! She had three phones going at once. She was professional and courteous the entire time. She told me about all of the charges, including tax and delivery fees. I even called again to make sure and she assured me all was taken care of. She is just a wonderful person to talk to. Patient and kind. Dale arrived on the specified day right on time. He was very friendly and helpful. He had the old washer out and the new one in very quickly. He even tested each cycle to make sure everything was in working order. He provided me with his card and said if I was to have any issues at all, to give him a call. He too, was professional and respectful. I was completely happy with the service provided. So we called American home shield they sent this company out to fix 3 of our appliances. The guy that came out was almost 3 hours late we were told between 12-4pm he showed up at 6:47pm he was pretty nice so we thought ok stuff happens we'll just let it go. We'll days go by and American home shield continues to say they have yet to send them the paper work so I decided to call well the 1st & 2nd call I was promised they would call that day that didn't happen so the 3rd call I was told now they don't have the papers so I asked to speak to the manager & the owner Ken comes on the phone I let him know I've been told 2 different things and he laughed and started to say something I then said I'm going through base so if I lose service I'll call you back. He then started yelling at me saying oh your going to bring the military in this!? I said what? Im just saying I'm going through it why are you yelling at me. He continued to yell and call me a B***h I asked him why he was so upset I'm just trying to figure out what's going on for something I paid for (you have to pay a "service fee" for them to come out) and that I did not appreciate the yelling or cursing I have my toddler in the car well he didn't like that either he flipped again and I hung up shaking. I immediately called American Home shield and let them know. They called them and the owner Ken admitted what he did and said he did it because I annoyed him! I annoyed you by trying to figure out where the papers are!? Ok buddy. Well now it's been weeks and we finally today got the notice from American Home shield that after 20+ attempts to get the paperwork from them they finally have it. This company has fixed my refer twice in the five years we've owned it. Both repairmen were professional, explaining what the problems were and had confidence that their repairs were good! My extended warrantee runs out next month but if I need the refer worked on again I will call Repair Plus first! I highly recommend them! read more

Horrible business practices!! We called our fridge manufacturer who forwarded our call to Appliance Repair Plus. Their office lady, Kasandra told us our fridge was under warranty (we were unsure as it was in the house when we moved in 6 months prior). They scheduled a tech about one week later, he came out and found the problem but needed to order a part. Once again we asked if that would be an additional cost and he said it was covered under the warranty. He came back about a week later and installed the part. Now over a month has passed and we are getting calls saying we owe over 200.00. The owner, Ken was really rude and said that our manufacturer told us it was out of warranty (they did not). He said it was COD, when asked why they did not provide a charge before the service that's when the back peddling started. If it's COD you don't just perform the service!! We would have gotten bids if we knew there would be a charge. To this day we still have not seen an actual invoice or been mailed anything, just phone calls asking for a credit card over the phone. After all that Ken wants to "work with us" and send a tech out to remove the part at no charge. Give me a break, very shady company here, beware!!! read more

Awful. The worst customer service I have ever received. I was required to schedule my repair through this company because they were contracted through Maytag. The first appointment, waited 6 hours, no one showed. Called to reschedule, the lady on the phone had a terrible attitude and was so unhelpful. She managed to reschedule another 2 weeks out, but they again missed the appointment and called after to say it was vehicle trouble, and could not reschedule for another 2 weeks. Called again, same terrible customer service. Now 6 weeks without service. Maytag should not utilize such terrible companies as it reflects poorly on their company. This company is really terrible. They have few available appointments, and you have to wait weeks until they can come to your home. They aren't flexible in scheduling, and won't tell you what time they're coming until a day before your appointment. Also, they do NOT call you to tell you the status of your claim, even though the repair people will tell you to wait to hear back from them. First, I'm not a big fan of Yelp or any online review/comment section. Someone said, and I completely agree, that the person who invented online comments was the world's most optimistic idiot. Second, I know that the folks who comment the most are those with a grudge. Satisfied customers, sadly, rarely comment. I guess it's more fun to hate than to love. Third, I was a manufacturers' authorized repair service in another industry for over a decade and I know that if someone has it out for a manufacturer, the authorized rep is going to take the heat when all they want to do is their job: to fix the problem as best and as fast as they can making the customer as happy as humanly possible. But all too often, the poor person answering the phone in customer service or showing up to fix the problem takes the abuse for something they had nothing to do with other than working for a living. Fourth, I also know that it's very easy to want to tell mean people, who are righteously frustrated but with misdirected anger, exactly what to do with themselves and their attitude. Some of us are better at controlling those urges than others. Finally, I bought an LG washer/dryer set from Costco, the only corporation I trust and probably ever will trust the way things are going. I had a problem so I called LG. They wanted to connect me to an outfit out of Portland. I questioned that given there are a dozen appliance repair shops within a dozen miles of my home. The rep said he'd call back. Next day, LG called to connect me with an outfit out of California that worked on consumer electronics and pro A/V gear...not appliances. Next, LG connected me with an outfit to remain unnamed that has 2 formal complaints filed with the local BBB and 4 extremely negative reviews. The company has never responded to them. The company also couldn't be contacted because out of five attempts, they didn't answer their phone and their voice mailbox was full. They were scheduled to show up, didn't, and never contacted me. Costco got involved along the way and worked very diligently and hard over two weeks to get LG to find a service for me. LG recommended a shop out of Montesano but the owner called me to inform me that he doesn't service Olympia and LG knows that plus he doesn't like to work for LG because they don't like to pay their contractors. Hmmm. Could that be why LG can't find a tech to repair my appliance? Costco held LG's feet to their contract's fire. That's when Appliance Repair Plus called me. Casandra was perfectly professional and empathic. And she had a great sense of humor. I reviewed their reviews and was taken aback by the negativity. Now, from history, I know Yelp has this algorithm they use to decide which reviews will be made visible and which reviews they'll make difficult to find. I've found a lot of 5-star reviews in these "not currently recommended reviews." In fact, in the 14 not currently recommended reviews for Appliance Repair Plus, there're five 5-star reviews and one 4-star review. Hmmm. So I decided to visit their store in Shelton, a 40-mile roundtrip. But I am 100% glad that I did. I met Casandra and immediately presented her with my query: What's up with all the negative reviews on Yelp? She was frank and honest. And I understood perfectly what was going on. I liked everything about her, about one of the techs I spoke with who dropped by and joined the conversation for a few minutes, about another female I spoke with later on the phone, and with Scott, the manager, with whom I spoke with on the phone after the service was provided. Furthermore, Darren, the service tech who came by two days later to effect the repair could not have been more pleasant, more attentive to my home, more professional, or, might I say, more skilled. He figured out the problem and it appears to be fixed perfectly after running a few test cycles. I could not be happier with Appliance Repair Plus' service. In every way, every person I've connected with has exceeded my very high standards. And, honestly, I have issues with meeting my own standards because I'm a recovering perfectionist. So, please give these good folks a try when you need a new appliance or when you need one repaired. They're now my go to appliance shop. Was out and repaired our whirlpool refrigerator, was fast, curious, and very reasonably priced.

The first time I used this company, they were prompt, friendly and had the part with them to fix the problem. Since the machine was under warrantee, the repair was covered. Now, several years later, the same part went out. This time, not covered obviously, they sent out a tech who did very little diagnostics before tearing out the old pump, which he said was not properly installed the first time to which I said it was his company that did the work. He then proceeded to pull the new pump from its box and tried to place it in the machine. It was then that he noticed he had the wrong part even though the model number of the machine was correct on the paperwork. So, he left without finishing and said I needed to make another appointment. While I was deciding whether to make another appointment or not, he called and said it would be over $350 for the repair, $200 of which goes directly to them. I told him I would think about it. Later, I got a phone call from their office asking when I would like to have them out again, I said not at that price. It was then explained to me that they charge $150 just to come out and hourly on top of that. Then they transferred me to the owner/manager who tried once again to get $150 out of me. I told him very plainly that they did half the job and would get paid half the money. All he had to say in his reply was, "+tax" I feel bad because I really liked these guys the last time I used them. They probably just got too big too fast and can't keep up with the quality of service. read more

We were referred to this company through American Home Shield for a refrigerator repair. We knew the issue and knew the part that had to be ordered. Their "customer service" rep told us she would order the part and that their senior repair person would take care of the issue. 10 days later he shows up without the part and tells us that it's going to have to be ordered! We spoke to their customer service person again who said it would be two weeks to get the part. In addition to lying about having ordered it, she was insulting and unprofessional throughout the conversation. Find a different repair company! read more

We have called this company a couple of times. The first time, they were out in just a couple of days, (which is saying a lot, since we are in a rural location and no one else will come here) and fixed the issue with our fridge right away. We had another issue with our fridge and they were pretty booked up, but got here within a week to diagnose the problem. The parts took a while to arrive, but when they did, Zach really worked hard to get it fixed. He was very nice and personable. The reason for four stars and not five was because the office assistant hung up on me, claiming I cussed her when I did not (according to the person who witnessed my call) and when I went in the store, the woman on the floor was rude and very unfriendly. I have been dealing with ARP for over a month now. It started as a simple leaky valve in a brand new dishwasher. We set up with the repair plan through Lowe's and they contracted our repair through Appliance repair plus. We we're initially scheduled out 2 weeks. my first time calling them I explained exactly what was wrong in detail. I'm not a dishwasher engineer but I know my way around machines. The technician I spoke with over the phone sounded very confident that I had made a proper diagnosis based on the symptoms I'd explained and agreed that the valve need replacing. He told me that he was ordering the valve and they would simply replace it when they came out at my scheduled appointment in 2 weeks. Now 2 weeks later, I'm at work and my wife is home when they guy comes. Of course now the valve isn't leaking when she shows up. So the guy decides that he is going to order a gasket for the grey water sump because "a leaky sump gasket is common with this modle year and that's probably what's actually leaking" and then doesn't replace the valve. So I get home and of course with in an hour of walking in the door it starts leaking again. I recorded the leak in action and called to find out what in the world the technician was doing. They told me they would get back to me with in 24 hours once the technician had made a report of his visit. A week goes by and I heard nothing from them. So I called and asked to speak with the manager to whom I then explained the whole situation. He apologized for the problem and assured me he would fix the issue and personally talk with the scheduling desk then call me back "in just a minute." Maybe 4 days later I had heard nothing and called again to find out what in the world was the hold up. The girl on the phone told me that she was about to call me and let me know they they we're still waiting on my gasket to arrive so they could come out. I told her I didn't need a gasket and then began again explaining my problem to her. She apologized and said she'd make a note and have them come out asap to replace the valve. Now here we are over a month after the first call and they just called me to tell me THAT MY GASKET IS STILL ON ORDER! I don't need a gasket! I need a competent company to get off their butt and do their job! I still haven't had my dishwasher fixed and I'm still dealing with water spilling on my floor! I'm about to call Jesse Jones. This is the worse experience with a repair service I have ever had in my life. They aren't even worth one star. We called Lowe's for a problem with our washing machine. They hooked us up with this service. The guy came out and pushed on the washer and said it is un-level and charged us $163 and left. He never checked anything else. He told us to put it on a piece of plywood. I called the owner and complained and told them that wasn't the problem. He was were very rude and said if I knew so much about washing machines, why did I call them. We called Lowe's and they sent their guys out to make sure the washing machine was level. It was perfectly level and that wasn't the problem. I filed a complaint with Lowe's about the repair service they sent out. Come to find out the transmission went out on the washing machine and it didn't have anything to do with the washing being un-level. This company was rude and useless as far as I was concerned. Don't call them you are wasting your money. Lowe's was very helpful and apologetic. They send out delivery guys without a charge and made sure the washing machine was level. My 85 year old grandmother went in looking for a refrigerator and talk her into buying an off brand model that is over five years old and charge her over a thousand dollars! Its been almost two months and the freezer is constantly freezing over so they come out to look at it and realize it's missing the part to seal off the ice maker... and now we have been waiting another month for them to get the part which we have to pay for and still have not gotten when they told us it would only take a week to get in. I called the 1-800 Whirlpool national repair phone number to arrange a local technician to provide a repair estimate for my inoperable oven in Gig Harbor, WA. Appliance Repair plus company contacted me by phone stating a company technician would visit between 1200-1600 on Thursday to inspect and provide an estimate to repair the oven. My wife returned home at 1150 to support the 1200 to 1600 appointment and discovered a business card left with scribble material data from the Appliance Repair plus company who had arrived earlier than scheduled at 1110 and access our home illegally via a trusted next door neighbor who had an access key but did not have our permission to allow any one to enter. We discovered a week later by mail Appliance Repair Plus was located in Shelton WA to our surprise and therefore charged us $163.00 rather than the Whirlpool stated fee of $75 dollars for performing the estimate. I was never informed by their initial phone call or the business card information which lacked the city origin address that Appliance Repair plus company was located in Shelton, WA. l believe the act of Appliance Repair plus not identifying their doubled inspection fee requirement in advance was intentional. Whirlpool Co. repair must have contacted Shelton located Appliance Repair Plus Co. in error rather than a local Gig Harbor or Tacoma Co.We never knew the company Appliance Repair Plus was located in Shelton until we received the estimate invoice bill finally indicating the Shelton Address. I researched other blogs including Yelp's other complaints for example by Nicki Z, reflecting this company had other undisclosed charges regarding over charging clients an inflated estimate trip charge or estimate fee. Refer to the Better Business Bureau and Washington state attorney general complaint sites. In good faith, we offered to pay the original agreed Whirlpool stated fee of $75.00 to Appliance Repair Plus, their reply was I would be turned over to a collection agency if not paid the $163.00. I declined any repair or product service offers from Appliance Repair Plus Company located in Shelton. I do not recommend this company services to anyone based on the suspicion that not identifying the excessive double charge was an intentional act to take advantage of long distance requests for repair via the national Whirlpool Internet 1-800 services. only an estimate to repair. Stay away! I called Maytag to have my washer repaired under my warranty. They said they don't have a service location in my area but they do contract with Appliance Repair Plus. They set me up with a afternoon appointment. I received a call the day before my repair that my tech (Rick) would be there in the morning instead. Luckily I was able to get time off and was to meet him, so that turned out not to be a huge deal. He did a great job and was very quick to find the problem. Turned out the part needed was back ordered, so he ordered it on the spot and said I would be called when it arrived, all is good. Over a month goes by and I still had to not heard from him. I called the store two straight days trying and figure out the status of my part. Both times I was told they were having a hard time finding my paper work and was assured I would be called back right away - never was called either day. The third day I called and was told they found my folder and my part was still on order....They decided to schedule me for an appointment anyway 2 weeks out with hopes that the part would be in by then. By this time I was getting frustrated, I bought this brand new washer and have a newborn in cloth diapers, I need my washer! I called Maytag to try and get to the bottom of this. I was told my part was delivered on December 14th, it is January 20th now...With this information I called the repair store back and explained that I talked to Maytag and was told that the part was delivered. After some back and forth about where my part was and why they said they don't have it I was put on hold to talk with the owner, Ken. He could not have been ruder, he failed to let me talk and finish a sentence. He claimed that it was not his fault they did not have the part that Maytag claims they delivered. By this time I was shaking I was so mad, how could he not have the part? After some more back and forth Ken declared that when my part does come in he will be shipping it back and cancelling my appointment, I never asked for this. Long story short, I called Maytag again. They are sending me my part directly and will arrive in 2 days. They also are having a new business come out and repair my washer for free this week, with a few perks for my time. I will never use Appliance Repair Plus nor would I let my worst enemy use them. I hope Maytag ends their contract, they do not deserve to be in business with the kind of customer service I received. read more

Just bought a house and the dishwasher broke.the manufacturer assigned this repair shop. We were told they would be here to fix it on Thursday the 17th of November 2016. I get a call today stating that they want to schedule my repair. They say the earliest appointment is the 23rd. I told them this was not okay. that it should not take so long to get an appointment especially since we were supposed to have one already. They blame the manufacturer and say they only have 5 guys and are booked. maybe they should not accept more assignments if they can't get them done in a timely fashion. during my call the owner yells over the rep that if I don't like it to call someone else. very very unprofessional. it's normal to be frustrated by a huge inconvenience like no dishwasher and not being given the right info. They claim they didn't get the assignment until Saturday after 2pm. yet even if that's true they did not call until Tuesday after 2pm. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS. You will be waiting a long time to get your item fixed and you might have the female owner yelling over the rep if she doesn't like your frustration. Just because they are in a small area they seem to think they can treat customers like they don't matter. In my opinion the owner would not have behaved this way if we were paying them instead of the manufacturer. It should never take more than a week to get a repair. read more

No thanks to these guys, Sears came and fixed the new problem I had, and while they were here they fixed the original problem I had that I hired these guys to fix, (the faulty rubber tubing) that they refused to come and even look at, (since they said they believed Sears was either lying or they would not guarantee their work after that long, about a year, even if it was improperly installed) for free. read more

Always place a complaint on a business if warranted and notify the Chamber of Commerce in your town ! In addition, we never received an invoice or statement to pay; however we did drive to the business today to pay the bill. My husband, who has done unrelated work with the owner Ken in the past, was hunting and called to let me know he'd gotten a moose and we'd need another freezer before he returned home in just a couple days. I called Appliance Repair, and the man answering the phone was very helpful in getting me a large stand up freezer set up for a quick delivery. The delivery driver was new to the company, but very friendly and helpful and even taught me things about freezer maintenance. We wanted to buy a used washing machine since the one we had was purchased that way 20 years ago before it gave up suddenly. Since Mud Bay Appliance seems to no longer be in business, we opted for Appliance Repair Plus. BIG MISTAKE! The washer arrived and right off the bat we noticed it vibrated so bad during the spin cycle we thought it would fly apart. So we called and they sent a repair guy (who showed up exactly at our dinner time) and he said it was all fine and they just do this. ???? So we reluctantly took his word, did a load of laundry on the heavy duty cycle. It didn't vibrate because it didn't actually spin. The clothes were dripping wet. We set it to spin again. Nothing. So we moved to the regular spin cycle and watched the machine nearly vibrate off its legs again. We asked that they take the machine back. They wanted it the very next day. We had a lot of furniture to move to make a path (again) for the washer. The manager reluctantly agreed to give us some time to move everything over the weekend after my husband talked to him. They did show up (later than agreed upon) and took the washer. So, they got out old washer which they can probably fix and this one that they thought was good to go and we're sitting here waiting for a new washer delivery from somewhere else which is a week away. What a nightmare! No, we DO NOT recommend doing business with these people. Hard lesson learned. read more

June 21, 2014 We had Appliance Repair plus arrive to fix our clothes dryer. We had waited for a week for the appointment which is fine no dryer inconvenience They arrived within the time frame given okay so far okay. We were given a bill with a trip charge of $110.00. I contacted the owner after a week of trying to reach him by phone I was finally successful when I questioned him about the trip charge I was told that was what they charged and if I hadn't asked for a explanation of charges before making the appointment that was my fault then the owner became very rude and started telling me I didn't know anything about operating a business and there were expenses that had to be covered and if I didn't like their charges I should check with one of the chain stores and see what they charge. I told him he was apparently so busy he didn't need our business and he said that was right I wished him luck and told him we would be going elsewhere with our business. read more

This is the worst place to call for repairs! Rick the "senior" tech came to my home and would not even take the time to run the washer. He called the Frigidaire techs and he could not follow the instructions that were given. He was frustrated and said I don't have time for this and left. This service technician stated he did not know how to work on the clothes washer. I tried to call the "owner" of the company ken and he hung up on me several times. He was rude and unhelpful. He is very bad tempered. I will have to call Frigidaire to get another company to come fix my washing machine. What a waste of time! Don't call these people for repairs they are only going to take your money. They are stealing from people who need help. This company has a D rating with the Better Business Bureau. It seems to be a scam because other people have similar complaints as mine that the service tech says there is nothing wrong so that they can come back again to charge another service call fee of 95 dollars. read more

I set an appointment with this company for installation of a new dishwasher - GE Profile purchased from Albert Lee Appliance. The person who came seemed puzzled and unsure of himself...repeatedly asking me questions and calling his boss. He was puzzled that the dishwasher had water in the piping... which is left over from the factory pressure test and normal. Said he thought it was a "used" dishwasher. Said he was missing a necessary fitting... The install is in a house built in 2001... so there aren't any weird ancient fittings or connections. I had even purchased a new hot water water supply hose and associated fittings! I finally had enough and sent him packing and called another plumber (Union City Plumbing) to do the install. It cost me his travel / service fee.. but I wasn't interested in having him do the work. No where near the level of professionalism I expect from someone advertising as a "repair/ installation" service. read more

In the pass I have enjoyed there business and the techs have been very good in the diagnosis of my appliances. I even gave them my business and bought a dryer and a dishwasher. But the guy they have come to my house to diagnose my freezer/fridge problem, way off. I new what the problem was before he came out and told my husband. But because he is suppose to be a professional tech I lesson to him and was told by him if I didn't replace both of these thing and he has to come back I would have to pay for another service call. So I ordered both parts and it still wasn't working. Third time out and finally looking at the back of the fridge to test my wires to find I was right. The number one problem for them to go out a compressor. Doesn't leave my adult child nothing just tells her what the problem is why he is walking out the door. I had to call them to find out what this is going to cost me now. When he finally calls me back to let me know he had not looked up the price ( so don't call me back without it would be nice)) but it should cost me about 600.00 to 800.00. What! I just paid 400.00 on something he told me it was either or....I choosing to take my business to someone else. No way am I going to be taken advantage of again if they can't send someone that knows what they are doing and not guessing. This is something I can do for 200.00 myself and if my husband won't let me then I know I have not had any problems with Sears. It's worth waiting for a day they're in town. That's why I'm giving a two star. read more
