I was told, "A tune-up includes a carburetor cleaning and other parts that will resolve the surging issue." I was instructed to drop the unit off on Friday, 3/27/2026. Day 1: I dropped off the mower and was reminded that the repair would take approximately two weeks. Day 14: Two weeks having passed, I called for a status update. The business told me, "The technician will call you before the end of the day." No callback was received. (Missed Callback #1) Day 16: I called again and received the exact same response: "The technician will call you before the end of the day." Again, I received no callback. (Missed Callback #2) Day 20: I called again to insist on an update. I finally received a return call from a technician who stated, "We performed the tune-up, but it is still surging. I will look into it further." Day 24: I called for a timeframe. The technician informed me, "Your lawn mower is next on the list." Day 29: I called yet again. The technician replied, "It's lucky that you called; I'm going to look at yours today!" Day 31: I called once more, only to be told, "Still working on your unit." At this point, my wife and I decided to cut our losses and bring the unit home. I asked for the final price so I could pick it up. The technician stated, "I don't have the price in front of me; I will call you back." As expected, I never received a call. (Missed Callback #3) Day 32: The technician finally called back, claiming, "I found your issue; it will be ready for pickup soon." When I arrived, the business charged me for the tune-up plus extra labor. Day 33: I started the mower at home. Within five minutes of operation, the unit began surging again. The business was closed for the weekend. Day 34: I was very lucky and found a local handyman. He took about one hour to clean the carburetor, after which the unit ran perfectly without surging. Summary: This business held my mower for over a month and failed to fix it. A local handyman resolved the issue in a single hour by performing the very task--cleaning the carburetor--that the shop claimed was part of their initial "tune-up."

While he was pumping out my system, he taught me a ton about best practices in operating and maintaining my septic. He even let me make a video of him to share with my husband so we both knew what was going on. When he came back in, he said it would be $1100. I told him no thank you and I was going to get other bids. Then he asked me for $250 for coming out and so I wrote him a check. I spoke to a woman named Jen from the office and she said yes it was a miscommunication but to go from $300 to $680 before taxes to then $1100 feels pretty unethical to me. If you make a mistake in your bidding process at your office, have some integrity and accept responsibility and meet somebody in the middle.

First, I contacted Tim about a new Howard Miller mantle clock that was having issues. He did the warranty work on it. But, Howard Miller is going out of business, and the quality of their clocks seems not to be what they used to produce. Second, he worked on a 1920 Herschede mantle clock I bought on eBay. With me standing there, he pulled out the mechanism and it was clear that a part was broken. Plus, it did not look at all like the photo posted by the clocksmith on eBay who sold it to me. Tim did what he could. The reason I bought those clocks is that I want a mechanical clock that keeps good time, and neither of them do. But many Grandfather Clocks do keep good time, and I knew that Tim has some. So, after a conversation with him, I bought a 1988 Ridgeway Grandfather Clock from him. Tim and his son delivered the clock, set it up, and Tim gave me a brief overview. He also had the manual and original paperwork for me. It's beautiful, and after a few adjustments it is accurate to within a few seconds. It does play three different chimes, but I love the Winchester chimes, and this clock sounds wonderful.
